Star Wars X-Wing Fighter Red Leader
Made by Hasbro
Age Group: 5 - 12 years
    Amazon base price: $19.98
    List price: $29.99 (that's 33% off!)
After so many sequels have been made and strenuously marketed, it's always refreshing to see toys based on the very first Star Wars movie, which first hit theaters in 1977. This X-Wing Fighter is shown in its post-Death Star battle condition, slightly distressed with a well-painted smattering of grit and dust. The cockpit opens and closes and the wings separate from closed to "x" formation. What we liked best about this fighter, measuring 20 inches long, is how low-tech it actually is. There are no batteries, no flashing lights, no sounds, and nothing else to distract. It would make a fine play toy but would also look nice just sitting in a cubicle, on a desktop, or suspended from the ceiling by fishing wire. --Charlie Williams

Star Wars X-Wing Fighter Red Leader by Hasbro
My son received this toy from his grandparents. He LOVES it. I only wish the toy came with an R2 unit. You can buy the R2 action figure to slide in the slot, but until you have that, it just doesn't look right.

I'm a little concerned about the durability of the wings. You can have it in attach mode, or x-wing mode. Time will tell how well that feature holds up.

    Overall, really, really cool.

One of the Better Star Wars Toys
I have seen this X-wing in a Toys R Us and was quite surprised (and pleased) to see that Hasbro had released another version of this excellent ship. In my opinion, this is one of the most accurate vehicles for the Hasbro Star Wars line in terms of its size and looks (along with the A-Wing, TIE Interceptor, Snowspeeder, TIE Bomber, Naboo Starfighter and Jedi Starfighter). It certainly has some of the most functionability with not only the opening wings, but the R2 droid socket, the detailed cockpit with stowage and the landing gear. I passed up the Red 1 version simply because I already own the similar version of this X-wing (made to look like Luke Skywalker's) and personally found this one to be a little plain without much coloration are wear & tear. I like the red leader figure, however the biggest drawback was the fact that the ship didn't come with an R2 droid. What gives, Hasbro? All in all, its a great looking Star Wars toy and would go well in any collection!

    Awesome X-Wing!!!
I have always wanted an X-Wing fighter, but held back because older X-Wings were kind of clunky and didn't look very movie-accurate. But when I saw what this thing looked like and the saw the positive reviews for it, I just had to go get one. This vehicle is huge and is worth the price, although the price is towards the high end of what I'm willing to pay. The design is near-perfect, with a couple of drawbacks I will get into later. The designers did a superb job - the detailing and proportions on this vehicle are amazing, and it looks just like in the movies! The S-foil mechanism is simple and effective, with a moveable tab in the back. The landing gear is also pretty movie-accurate and the vehicle looks great in parking position. Also, the pilot's seat can fold down to reveal a storage compartment, a very cool feature. However, there are two drawbacks to the toy. It should of included an R2-D2 robot, which would have added value to an already excellent toy. Also, the cockpit is very small and just barely fits a typical Star Wars figure. In contrast, the Jedi Starfighter and the A-Wing Fighter have very roomy cockpits that can very, very easily fit almost any Star Wars and GI Joe figure. The pilot that is included here is made a little smaller to fit inside the cockpit comfortably, but I think it would have been much better to just scale the vehicle a little bigger to make it more compatible with the rest of the Star Wars line. For my X-Wing, I removed the seat cushion and some interior molding inside the nose to make more room. Despite these two points, this vehicle looks and functions great. I highly recommend it!!

      The Empire Rocks
Not only does this game incorparate the underappreciated Imperials it does so in a nice way. You get to fly 7 craft! Unlike the old version this game has better sound and grafics. The cutscenes are still old but they fill the bill. You don't just have to fight Y,A,X, and B wings. You fight well detailed Calamari Cruisers, YT-1300 transports (Millenium Falcon) Star Destroyers, Carrack Cruisers and so forth. Great game.

      I LOVE THIS GAME
My cousin owns this game, so when I visit, I got to play it. I got adicted on the first time. This is funner than (I'm sorry fans) Tiberian Sun, since you can personaly blow up infinite Y-Wings and X-Wings, which is pretty fun.

If only your battle skills could be used for evil.....
The original Tie Fighter was one of the best space combat games available. The Tie Fighter Collector's Ed. (TFCE) is upgraded over its previous incarnation to support hardware acceleration but that's only for the flight sequences. Between the flying, you'll notice the same old cutscenes around the same less-than photorealistism. The sound is also conspicuously improved - mostly because it to alternates between the true stereo of todays computers (again in the flying sequences) and the ancient MIDI in the intervals.

That said, the meat of the game is firmly in Pentium country, with rich colors and textures expected for a latter-day sim, but not taxing enough to slow down frame-rate on any low-level P200MMX. If you own "X-wing v. Tie Fighter", you'll find the same level of graphics, but with more imaginative single-player missions. As a fighter pilot with the dread imperial star fleet, you fly those tiny little insect like ships that seems to drop like flies in the 3 movies. Besides the expected campaigns (all pre-scripted, you can't go on until you finish all primary mission objectives) and "historical" missions, there's a nifty pilot's proving ground, an enclosed maze and shooting gallery that convincingly recalls the Death Star innards from the 3rd movie. However, the missions require you not only destroy waves of fighters or large ships, but inspect and even capture other ships. Also, a complex storyline sends imperial starfighters against a variety of enemies, many not quite as noble as the stalwart rebels. Star Wars is best when highlighting the moral ambiguity of its surrounding universe, and Tie Fighter doesn't dissappoint, and your enemies will include Rebel X-wings, but also pirates and profiteers, defectors and other traitors and various alien races who don't know that they need the emperor's permission to war against each other. There's even a clever subplot in which you have two missions - your commander's and those of a special imperial emissary. Most of the time, the two are in line, and neither asks you to controvert the orders of the other. It creates a level of depth and suspicion mising from the original x-wing.

If X-wing collector's ed is this good, I'll pick it up as well. If you've already got the original versions of both games, I'd suggest getting the new X-wing, since the original was the older of the two and would have the best improvement.

The Best In Early Star Wars Games
I won't argue that this Trilogy is by far the best in early Star Wars games

A Classic... All together for a great set of games.
The only thing is the game requires a joystick, unlike the previous versions that didn't. Which is alright, no problem. I got one, you got one, if not then there are a slew of wonderful little sticks out there that will sufice.

All of these games are classics, from Xwing until the end... each is among the best there is to offer in the Star Wars gaming. Of course the Xwing and Tiefirhgter are older than Windows... But you can get around that can't you? Here's the lowdown.

Genre: All are Flight Simulation, Space Fighters... meaning that there is no simulation for atmosphereic flight (all 360x360 directions with no gravity... no real sense of up). Which can get annoying if you are just that type of person.

Controls: In exception to your Joystick... not a lot is customizable. Alliance is a more recent game can do a little. They are easy to learn and not complicated by any means, and each program has in in-flight key guide.

Gameplay... Superb. I love them all. I've owned just about every version of Tie-Fighter and find that his game is the better game... though Alliance's better graphics and general quality is newer and better, they are all still the greatest (In comparison to some of the most recent multiplatform fighter games... these are a nice breath of nostalgia.

Xwing is by far the oldest and comes with both extra campaigns, Imperial Pursuit and B-wing. Tie-fighter comes with it's extra add on and Alliance is a full package. This box set gives you everything the individuals have: updated graphics and compatibilities. It's really worth the price when compared to the individual price of each three of these games. ... .

I recommend this for anyone who played the games in their older versions. You'll be surprised to see what's changed and how well they are now. I still find myself playing around with them. And the best thing to do is to play around with their mission editors (not included) and make your own missions. Tie-fighter is especially easy to make a mission for. I wouldn't recommend these for younger gamers, since they quality of these games were at their prime in the early 90's, and anything in the computer world that is more than 5 years old is considered antique... but the are collectors.

        Awesome! I hail this game!
When I bought X-Wing, I noticed the graphics weren't the best, but when my A-Wing's blasters blew a TIE into space dust, I knew I loved this game.

          A Scruffy Looking Nerf Hearder
The Unleahed line of toys continues it's excellence with this Han Solo figure. The likeness of Harrison Ford is spot on and is only enhanced by the action filled pose of the figure. The folds in his T-shirt and pants, flapping vest, unlatched gun stirrup, flowing hair and tense hand bring trememdous life to the figure. It almost looks as if Han might complete his run to safety at any moment.

Highly recommened for all Harrison Ford/Han Solo fans.

          Oh I forgot to mention.....
That the resemblance to Harrison Ford is striking, and must be from a computer scan. And this is sitting right next to my Code 3 Millenium Falcon die cast ship. Did I mention the resemblance to Harrison Ford is striking?

          Sheesh!

Classic Han Solo from the original "Star Wars"
The latest edition from the "Star Wars: Unleashed" line, has Han Solo blasting his way out of Mos Eisley Spaceport, after being found out by Imperial Stormtroopers that he is chartered some illegal passengers.

The attention to detail is remarkable (right down to the red bloodstripe running down the side of Solo's uniform) and the resemblance to Harrison Ford is the best that I've seen in some time ("Hasbro" is getting better with there computer scans of actor's faces all the time).

There is one small fault, detail wise. Since this is Han Solo from the original "Star Wars" (Episode IV, for the prequel impaired) his yellow gloves that he wore in this particular sequence from the film are missing (he takes his left glove off just before the troopers storm the docking bay, but, you can see he still has his right one on when he's running up the ramp to the ship).

A great figure to showcase. I have mine sitting right next to my Code 3 Millenium Falcon die-cast. It's cool looking.

            Fun and Challenging
Fun, but hard! I had to rebuild some parts at times. A really big set and a steal (...)

            Darth Maul
I received this set as an early Christmas gift and as an adult lego collector I love it. It took about 6 1/2 to 7 hours to put together, including the time to correct a mistake at step 33 (which I did not catch until I was done). I am a little disappointed in the mounting method for the chin an nose, but overall it is a great set. If you own the Yoda set you will see what I mean. Sorting the parts before starting might cut the time down a bit, but I won't try that for a while. Look over each step before going on to the next one, because trying to split it back apart is not fun. If you have been thinking about buying this set, stop putting it off. It is well worth the price.

From Fun to Creepy in 43,000 Seconds!
The Darth Maul bust is a great LEGO set. I assembled it over the course of three evenings, so I probably spent 12 hours or so putting it together. I found that the stand was not as sturdy as I would have liked, but as the bust is not really a plaything, it doesn't seem to matter.

Unfortunately, the end result is a very creepy, yellow-eyed devil-head. After I had the eyes on it I didn't much care to have it facing me when I wasn't working on it (Mr Maul spent the nights staring at the corner.)

Overall, this was a fun set to build, if a little pricey.

Lego Star Wars Episode II Attack Of The Clones: Genosian Fighter (4478)
            Made by LEGO Systems, Inc
            Age Group: 6 - 12 years
              Amazon base price: $19.99
Though the finished product is a fun set of toys--a Genosian Fighter with many mobile parts, a smoothly swinging anti-aircraft gun, and two geonosian soldiers--it is almost more like a 3-D puzzle than a toy. For younger kids who don't have the patience to wade through the directions, which, though text-free, are really quite detailed, the set may end up in a big, hopeless muddle. But for kids with the ambition and focus, or for parents who want some together time with their kids, the task of putting the thing together is certainly doable, and the result is a fun and colorful slice of the Star Wars universe for your very own. --David Stoesz

WOW! this is the better than the jedi starfighter!
thi set is awesom.it comes with 2 battle droids and 2 geanosians. a ship and a cannon. Bad: this ship sometimes losses one of its fragile bottom sections.Good: this ship is fun and is a great addition to any star wars lego collection!

              A powerful Geonosian vehicle
This toy is the most powerful vehicle next to the Hailfire droid and that giant ball thing in the movie, well thats all the Geonosian had to battle, next to the droids. It is more versitile than the Jedi Starfighter, although only one cannon on it, it makes it up with its speed. They are powerful when attacking in packs, like when Aniken in was in the Republic Gunship, 2 of the Geonosian fighters shot the ship down as soon as Aniken got out. This lego set is kind of unstable, but I would highly recomend it to anyone.

One of the best sets, and a good buy, too.
This set is perfect to go along with the Count Dooku speeder bike from jedi duel, and to go with the republic gunship. The cannon and engine pieces are cool. they are the same ones as the gun pieces from the AT-TE.

                A pretty cool game
Well, I would say this game is probably the 2nd best game I've played because the graphics were good but the game was easy, to some people it maybe challenging and it takes you a month to do it or you zip right on through it, I would recommend it for anyone.

I LOVE STAR WARS EPISODE 1 PODRACING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is the best system nintendo has ever made!! It has my three favorite games on it (Star Wars Rouge Squadron, Star Wars Episode One Racer, and Top Gear Hiper Bike). I love the controler that so many people hate. The only downcast is that the games should have been compact disks and the expansion pack should come with it. Now on to the game. I have to say thas is my favorite game of all time. It has 24 races and seem to grow harder. It also is the only game that has 1 code that does all the codes. It has prety good grafics with out the expansion pack(I.e. I havn't played it with the expansion pack and it's not that bad). It has 23 pods I think. The courses expand from hot deserts to arctic coldness even in airborn places. The game has no weapons except sabullba's flame jet. It doesn't do much when you use it but sabullba becomes a very formidable enemy on the last lap with it...(Ps. the all cheat code is "rrtangentabacus". Thought it might help if your stuck on a race.)

                WHAT A COOL GAME!
Star Wars Episode 1 Racer is the best nintendo game I've ever played.OK.First of all don't buy this because of the star wars title. It's a game thats all about racing using the star wars name thats all.But it's a fun challenging game and I would recomend it to anybody. If you don't have it already I'd buy it right here with the game console and controler.Thank you for your time.

                  Mace Windu's Lightsaber
This lightsaber is an extremely fun toy. The blade is nice and bright at night, it is very durable, and it the noises are accurate and only go of when you hit it. Some other knockoff brands don't work that well, but this one sure does. Te handle is easy to grip and the weight is just right so you can swing fast. My friends and I have had a lot of fun with lightsabers and this is one of the best. I strongly recommend you purchase this item.

                  BALLER LIGHTSABER
WELL MY FAVORITE JEDI WAS MACE WINDU SO I WAITED FOR HIS SABER TO COME OUT TO STORES AND WHEN IT DID I WAS EXCITED. I REALLY COULDNT CARE LESS IF THE HANDLE IS FROM PHANTOM MENACE CAUSE IF YOU LOOK AT HIS REAL HANDLE ITS WAY TO COMPLICATED TO MAKE.
THIS SABER HAS GREAT DURIBILITY COSIDERING THAT I ALWAYS DUEL WHEN I CAN. I HAVE NOTICED THAT THESE ITEMS ARE NOT VERY COMMON IN STORES SO IF YOU REALLY WANT IT THAN GET IT QUICKLY CAUSE THEY GO FAST. IN GENERAL THIS IS ONE OF THE BETTER LIGHTSABERS MADE! 8-)

                  purple lightsaber
This is the purple lightsaber that everyone wants. I just got mine and it is a nice one. The grip is nice and it looks amazing in the dark. My only advice is to get your hands on it while you can. It seems they only distribute one per each box of lightsabers and these are in very high demand. Any Star Wars fan would love this lightsaber in their collection.

                    The Empire Strikes Back...but Good!!
Tired of seeing Imperial Tie Fighters drop like flies against a target as slow and vulnerable as a patched-up Correlian freighter? Than this game is for you. The original Tie Fighter was a sequel to the original X-wing Fighter" game - both have been updated for Win 95 and 98 with better sound and graphics in the flight sequences. Between the flying, however, the graphics on each look like a throwback to the game's 486-era ancestor - with still characters and MIDI music (stereo sound is available during flights, so anybody who needs an excuse to hear that John Williams music should get either game). Since the collectors ed. of each game is strongly rooted to the earlier games, and with the original Tie Fighter having been the better title, the new Tie Fighter Collector's Ed. beats the XWCE. Besides the better and more believable interiors of the Imperial craft - the target computer in TF shows the ship and what direction it's pointing relative to you) is a better story. Here, you not only fight for the empire (how's that for a switch) but for its inner circle as well. Most of the time, the interests run in the same direction as the high command - now you have to investigate ships that your commanders want you to destroy, and you may find yourself getting shot at by some of your fellow Tie pilots. Even the obstacle course is better - with the complex tunnels and moving doors reminding me muc of the Death Star run from "Jedi". You start out flying the simple basic Tie Fighter (no shields and no hyperdrive) working your way up to the Tie Interceptor and up to the Tie Advanced. Not of all of your missions pit you against the rebellion - instead you'll spend more time fighting pirates or against both sides in civil wars (you need the empire's permission to war against anybody) or against imperial defectors (complete with their own star destroyer and squadrons of the latest in TF technology. A complex storyline will have you saving the empire from a coup and even flying alongside Darth Vader himself (if you screw that mission, you'll have to apologize in person).

Storyline and graphics aside, TF suffers for much of the same reason as XW - canned missions that have you blasting away at just about everybody can get pretty repetitive. You're the weak link - there are a few set mission goals and if any are missed, the mission is a failure (you'd think with their fleets of cruisers and their clouds of fighters, the empire could afford to miss a few hundred). Also, the XW/TF series has been advanced in meaningful but slow steps - with the collectors ed being a great facelift for the older games, but not a great improvement on them. If you've got at least an old P-200 MMX with a decent 3d card (I had the Voodoo2) you should make the jump to the X-Wing v. Tie Fighter, making sure that your version comes with the "Balance of Power" campaign. XWvTF was geared for Multi-player, but supported it poorly. Nevertheless, single-play is always going to a problem for scripted-mission games like these, and the newer games have somewhat better graphics and sound. If you're running a P3, I'd suggest going up a notch to "X-Wing Alliance". The collectors edition of either of the first two games is strongly recommended for those whose systems top out below 200MHz.

One of the true all-time greats
Along with such games as X-COM: UFO Defense and Civilization 2, a true classic. Why is is one of the greatest games of all time? One very simple reason. The graphics don't make the game good, the GAME-PLAY makes the game good. You get to be the bad guy, and that's always cool.
If you haven't played it, you are missing out on alot. I first played in on my big old 486 25 MHz with a whopping 8 Meg of RAM. I still have it loaded on my newest system, a 1.5 GHz 256 Meg system, with a video card that has 4 times the amount of my system RAM on that first computer.

You know you love the Dark Side...
There is something extremely thrilling about playing the bad guy for a change. I was always happy to earn a medal after completing a mission in the X-Wing games, but I LOVED earning the Emperor's blessings as a TIE Fighter pilot. Goose bumps! I got goose bumps on missions of vital import to the Empire. I felt like I could take on the entire Rebel Alliance myself.

The style of dogfighting is so different in a TIE because you ain't gots no shields!!!! :-) You simple must not get hit or pray that its a glancing shot you can shake off over time by outmaneuvering the enemy.

Playing for the Empire opens up a diffrent sort of game. It is a lot fresher than the X-wing games, which make you feel like the understudy to Luke Skywalker since you are essentially taking on his place as Top Gun in Rogue Squadron. I mean, how many times can you blow up the Death Star in a Star Wars game? That type of game you can find over and over. But in TIE Fighter, there is a new perspective, much more intrigue and mystery. Lots of suprises. Hey, you are working for the bad guys, not everyone on your team plays well with others.

There is a reason that this is considered one of the best games of ALL time. It is that good. And a minor spoiler... I nearly cried when I got the pleasure to fly as wingman to HIM. The Force IS strong with this one.... the Dark Side of the Force.

The most exciting parts of the Star Wars movies are the fantastic lightsaber duels. Now you can create your own excitement at home--though you’ll also have to create your own cool sound effects--with this plastic version of the space-age weapon. The black and silver plastic handle measures 10 inches long and offers enough ridges and bulk for small hands to keep a decent grip, although two hands may make for more genuine play. Hold down the red button near the top of the handle and give your wrist a quick downward thrust to extend the plastic purple "beam." Once extended, it does a pretty good job of staying in place and should provide plenty of combatant oomph. Simply push on the top of the beam to maneuver it back into the handle, and then push the red button again to lock it in place. When extended, the lightsaber measures 30 inches long. A clip on one end makes it easy to carry on the waist. May the Force be with you, young Jedis. --Pam Lauer

                      Star Wars Lightsaber
This lightsaber is a lot of fun and really stretches childrens imaginations. My child has had lightsabers since the age of 6 and is now 11. She still loves them! I would highly recomend this toy to any child who loves to play makebeileve Star Wars. If your child does not have self control I would NOT recomend this toy! Also I would buy 2 so your child can have lightsaber deuls with other Star Wars lovers.

                      Very Fun ToY!!!
This is a great toy in which it is very fun to play with! I bought two of these (blue & red) for me and my friends to play with. We have a blast playing with them, pretending to be good jedi and evil lord siths. Of course, somtimes you miss the other guy's lightsaber and you accidentaly hit the your opponents hand or (head)but it is ok, it doesn't hurt. These play lightsabers last for a couple years and don't break easily. I guess these toys also help your reflexes by dodgeing your enemies attacks. Overall, this is a very good toy and I recconmend it!

Finally, a real lightsaber (well, almost).
This lightsaber has been a life saver...literally. Before I bought one I dueled a kid I went backpacking with every year. Trust me, plastic scars a lot less than driftwood and broken sticks. Other than not getting cut from hits, this lightsaber is more authentic and is retractable. One downside is that compared to the true lightsaber length (1 meter beam and 20-24 cm. handle), this one is very short, making combat even closer than is usually is. This however, is not a big enough downside to lose a star because with a regular dueling partner, you should get used to it.
