Great drum for your little drummer boy....
We bought this drum for our (now) 3 1/2 year old son about a year ago. He LOVED it!!! He played it every day, but after awhile, the drum head got a lot of little dents in it and it eventually just caved in. But, a year's worth of fun and music is well worth (...)

    Super cute, super fun!
We bought this for our 2 1/2 year old Thomas fan. It's really cute and rather reasonably priced. My son loves to bang on his drum, and dance around the living room. He plays it quite often and we've had it for about 6 months, so far we've had absolutely NO problems with the drum falling apart or getting dented up like some of the other reviews have mentioned. Bottom line: great toy for any music/Thomas fan.

    Great drum
This is a great drum! It hangs comfortably around the neck of the child & comes with two drumsticks. It has a good tone for a toy drum, and so far it has held up well (6 months) having one small dent on the side. My son plays with it often. Buy the book, "hands, hands, finges thumb" to go with it and your child will be charmed. I will read the book aloud and my son will beat his drum to the rhythm of the story.

      My first Piano
Igot this piano from a cousin back in the 70's. It is the best gift I ever got. U can learn to play by color. Or u can learn fingering from the books that come with this lovely Piano. The sound is of even a good quality . I loved the color and it has the look of a real piano..It helped me get a good start in music. I still play the piano.

        FUN, FUN, FUN!!!
I just purchased this drum for my 5 year old son for Christmas. My husband and I decided to try it out before we put it away until Christmas. It is a lot of fun and sounds great. It works really well. I think my son will love it. I can't really comment on the durability since I have only just purchased this, yet it seems to be durable. You can't beat the price!!!

          Great Choice!
We just purchased this for our one-year-old. She loves banging on the piano keys to hear the noise it makes. She doesn't know how to use the xylophone yet, but that makes the toy even better. As she gets older she will learn how to use it. This is a great choice. Even mommy and daddy will have fun playing with it.

Great little set of Musical Instruments
My daughter loves this set of instruments. They are durable and have held up well. The only thing is if you have a young child you have to keep a close eye on them with the jingle sticks. The jingle sticks have little bells tied to them and young children might like to bite on them. So far none of the bells have come off so it appears they are connected quite well.

              ProFUNssional, Indeed!
I have to say I'm a little embarrassed to be writing this review, if only because I bought this for my daughter Ursula and then never gave it to her. Like VH1, I really believe in the educational value of music, especially since I was in a Doors tribute band in high school. (I played tambourine.) So I got this for my daughter but when it came and I opened the box, it really WAS a *Professional* tambourine, not a kid's toy. Since she's only 16, I thought I would keep it for her graduation. As I was putting it away, it made that fateful jingle and I got all a-tingle. I started to strum it and high school came back to me, headgear and all. So I took it with me to work the next day (at Wendy's) and I was A HIT with all the junior employees, who started calling me "Mr. Tambourine Man" as I worked the register and gave every customer a little thank-you ditty I called "Tring-a-ling-ling value!"

But the best part was later that week when I went to the Creed/Black Flag concert at the fairgrounds, and took my tambourine, naturally. As Black Flag was warming up, I was striking my tambourine and marching back and forth in front of the pit (like Gene Debs at the Haymarket), when Henry Rollins pulled me up on stage! At first I was a little scared because he's so big and sweaty and doesn't wear shoes, but then I realized that he wanted me to sit in on "My War" and I felt kind of like Courtney Cox in that Springsteen video. And I danced too!

One thing though--Henry broke the skin over my heiney as the last chorus came around, so I have to give this product a lower rating on durability.

Great way to learn to love music !
My daughter got it as a gift for her 1st birthday and she instanly fell in love with it.
She likes the songs best, as soon as she hits one of the keys, she starts dancing. The music is fun and we both like the animal sounds as well. She learns the colors as you ask to hit the keys or the animals at the same time.Whenever it's on, there is dancing and laughing in the house.
                It's a terrific gift !

                Like mother like daughter
First I bought this great gift for my little girl, she is so into all the sounds that this can make. My wife has been trying to pluck out songs like, Mary had a little lamb, and Twinkle twinkle little star, to show her. She's been singing them as she plays.

As a result I bought her a singing lesson CD kind of as a joke "Voice Lessons TO GO" by Vaccarino. She actually has taken it seriously and is now belting out. My daughter is playing along (very proudly and badly) as they sing together. It is hilarious to watch and listen to! I have a feeling I have many years of music lessons to pay for ahead of me, for both of them.

Jam packed w/ fun and learning
This is the only electronic toy you need! My 10 month old just got this and she plays w/ it for at least 30 min at a time, a couple times a day. The 3 modes, five piano type keys, 4 directional joy-stick, drum, microphone, guitar playing dog, and 15 LED lights provide a smorgasbord of musical and educational fun.

Counting/Colors/Animals Mode: tap the drum and hear the beats being counted. Press the keys for the color and/or animal name featured on the key and a short tune in the instrument featured on the key.

Listen Mode: each key starts a new classic or nursery song; add animal noises by pressing the keys, drum beats by tapping the drum, puppy noise by pressing pumpy's head, and 4 other funny noises by moving the joy-stick. Swirl the joy-stick to speed up the music and hold it down to slow the music. Sing along using the real microphone.

Play Mode: make your own music using the keys, drum, and joy-stick.

Practicallity: uses easy to find, always on hand AA batteries. Features auto shut-off after inactivity to preserve battery life, but can be switched off to prevent accidental activation, etc. 2 volumes (I think the lowest is loud enough, and could be just a bit quieter, but still, I haven't gotten annoyed yet because of all the variety.)

Bottom Line: This is the most action-packed electronic toy out there and at a very good price too. It is the only one of its kind that you will need, and you do need it.

                Discovery Designer Acoustic Guitar (Swirl)
                Made by First Act Inc.
                Age Group: 7 - 11 years
                  Amazon base price: $39.99
Now the young Clapton or Segovia in the family can give up air guitar, put away the tennis racket, and drop the useless plastic toy guitar that makes a noise like squirrels in a trash bag. This all-wood 30-inch acoustic guitar may have a lurid paint job that can best be described as "psychedelic camouflage," but it’s a good choice for the budding musician who is too small for the real thing. Metal frets and big, well-designed tuning pegs make it easy to tune and play, as does its thinness--the guitar is only just over 2 inches thick. The strings are all steel and replacement B and E strings are included. The 19 metal frets are marked with standard fret markers. --Richard Farr

                  Don't expect any accessories
This guitar is cute, and my daughter is thrilled to have it. However, it's supposed to be for kids who are just learning, and it came with absolutely no help whatsoever. No pick, no instructions on tuning, not even a little beginner songbook to get a child started. It's a guitar in a box. I've had to search online, call local music shops and ask friends just so she can use this guitar for its intended purpose. She thinks its great, but Mom's pretty disappointed.

                  Great Value - nice tone
We are very pleased with this guitar. It is so well made, nicely decorated and such a sturdy toy, and has great sound as well. I can see it being a favorite for a long time.

                  Adorable and Educational
My son loves his new guitar. My father and I are musicians and this little thing really works! I was concerned that it would be hard on the fingers and rough or twangy but it sounds good for a small instrument. My dad couldn't put it down, it was so cute. A child can learn to play on this. I would recommend it as a first guitar. You really can't go wrong for the price.

Great toy but not very durable
My son received this toy for his first birthday, actually he received two of them. He absolutley loves the toy. He will make it play a song and he will run around in cricles like he is dancing. He loves it!!! However, he threw-up on it and it just started to die slowly. The next thing my husband and I knew, it made a long drawn out sound and then it just quit working. I personally think that this toy should be more durable for the price. We had taken the second one back after his birthday party, but I know we will be going back to the store to buy another one because this was his FAVORITE toy. I also think it is ironic that there was another person on the review who had the same incident happen with vomit.

Excellent toy with one design flaw
My one year old received this toy as a Birthday present and it was a big hit. He absolutely loves it! Daddy never tires of the music because it is always accompanied by giggles and a bright smile! The toy has one design flaw... There are three modes of play. You change modes by turning the music page on the piano. Mode 1 and 3 work as advertised when you turn the page. Mode 2 works as whatever mode was used before it (1 or 3) unless you turn the toy off and back on while in mode 2.
