We love our "squirrel feeder"We bought this for our then, 4 yr. old. He and his daddy had a wonderful time building this together and painting it. Everything you need is included. We did attract some birds, but the squirrels wouldn't let them anywhere near the feeder. It was hilarious watching them hanging upside down and swinging on it. They figured out quickly how to open and empty it. Oh well, it was well worth it because the time and enjoyment building it. That is what really makes this item great.

The totally cool bird feederMy 7 1/2yr old daughter liked this a lot. And her 5 1/2yr old brother thought "it ruled." I think they liked it. My husband and I supervised, I started the nails for my son, and otherwise, they did it themselves. The instructions were easy to follow (even the pictures for my son!) and we were done in no time. Santa brought each of them this and the 10 piece tool set, and it was a great rainy afternoon project (late afternoon on New Years Day!) We'll be looking for more!

Fun toy!My 9-year-old daughter received a Pixter for Christmas and has really enjoyed it. It is well worth the money and we have definitely gotten our money's worth out of it. I highly recommend it. I even have a lot of fun with it. Give it a try!

Good cartridge, not so educational...but fun.I have almost all the pixter cartridges and this one though it is a good one does not get used as much as the others. It has various activities such as habitat stampers. A set of animal habitat scenes with stampers that make animal noises. Then there are different animal art games that involve drawing and completing animals. The main thing I would point out would be to watch out with this one with younger children. One of the games is a set of slider puzzles that are fairly hard to work with. Little ones would probably get frustrated without mom or dad's help. It is a good cartridge but not one of the best. But if you got an animal lovin' little one this would be great for them.

Best toy in the world!I think that this toy allows fun and education into children. It gives them a craft to play with when they are bored, and is fun for anyone to play with. I defenitely recommend this one of a kind "Wee Enchanted Garden Kit." My child Jessica who is 10, just loves crafts! I also teach in a school and bring crafts for them to do all the time! They seem to really enjoy it a bunch! this is totally a five star kit!

ok but we made it betterWe bought this easel for our son instead of the little tikes mission style easel which is [alot] more. It is ok but we made it better. The dry erase board is not a very good surface, when my son writes on it and then tries to erase, it won't erase. The only way the marker will come off is to use the spray, and I am not real eager to give my 4 year old something to spray himself in the eye with. Also it would be nice if it had another tray for the other side. I bought it anyway and had my brother-in-law make an additional tray and had him cut a new piece of dry erase board and glued it on top of the one that doesn't erase well. Now, it is perfect, and the supplies for the repairs/modifications, only [a few dollars], which is still way under what we would have paid for the little tikes mission stlye easel. You do need someone who can do small carpentry jobs, if not I would think twice about this easel.

Broken on arrival !My daughter received this as a Christmas 2003 gift from her grandparents. They ordered it by mail. Well, she was all excited to finally open this easel and get it set up for use. She was very disappointed that one of the legs was broken nearly 3/4 of the way through at the hole for the crossbar. If I had put it together, it would have broken off completely. It LOOKED nice and sturdy, and was certainly heavy enough. Also, it doesn't come with ANY supplies ! How much does chalk cost ? Fifty cents ? And no markers for the dry erase board ! For the price of this unit, some markers and chalk should be added. Well, back to the store it goes !

GREAT DEAL!!We just bought this toy for our 3 year old son, and it is great!
He hasn't officially been able to play with it yet (b/c it's a Christmas present), but my husband and I couldn't resist. It's made of a neutral, wood color, so it matches anywhere in your home and it's not wobbly like so many other easels we looked at. Also, the chalk board is a REAL chalkboard, not plastic like the one on the Little Tikes easel. The only downside that I found was that there was only one supply tray, but that's not a big deal. As for the screws that stick out, they are tiny and not even close to my son's height(maybe his height at 6 mo)so there's no danger of him losing an eye on it. Overall, it's a GREAT buy for the money...especially since it's on sale this week!

GREAT FOR GIRLS WHO LOVE TO DRAWMy daughter is 6 & she loves this toy. It's not one that gets old after 2 days. There are so many variations to draw from, endless combinations. The older she gets, the more she loves it. Her older friends especially like it. It's good for motor development in trying to do the tracing.

great toyOur daycare has a toy similar to this one,however it is much more expensive. My daughter absolutely loves her tracing desk, she has already gone thru one set of batteries and a light bulb. She is six years old and the intricate designs really challenge her. I was very pleased with this toy and would not hesitate to buy it again.

My son loves the vehicle version !!!Yes, they make a version of this with vehicles to trace and my 6 yr old son loves it! For some reason the vehicle version is harder to find than the girls' fashion version. For any boy that loves to draw cars and trucks, this is great. Also, good for their fine motor skills.

What a great idea!I recently bought an Aqua Doodle for my 2 year old nephew, and it was a huge hit! He was immediately drawn to the mat, and understood how to use the pens right away. The best part was that his 3 year old cousin was able to sit with him and they both had a blast. This is a great toy, because there is absolutely no mess.

I would NOT recommend this toyI am a frequent buyer/reviewer for toys online and I am generally quite happy with them. This toy has a great concept, but I really wasn't thrilled with it. As the other reviewers have stated, it is a great toy...that is, until it's all wet. I found that the manufacturer SAYS, "image disappears in approx. 20 seconds.". This is where they are wrong. My kids LOVED playing with it, until they ran out of room to write stuff. It took so long to dry to become clear again, that I had to bring it in and put my hairdryer to it for an additional FIVE minute to dry it in order to continue using it. And this toy wasn't even drenched, just regular use. The idea of this toy is great, but has a big inconvenience. Maybe when it's a hot day it'll be better....I hope! I bought two, one for my daughter and one for my niece. I'm returning the unopened one.

Happy MomThis toy is awesome....Hats off to SpinMaster....I saw this toy online a month ago and went to Toys-R-Us to purchase it and they did not carry it yet...I was just there today and was so happy to see it on the shelf....My kids just opened it and they love it....They are 4 and 19 months old and this is something that they can play together and enjoy....My 4 year old loves to trace the alphabet...If anyone has preschool aged kids or younger this toy is a true winner!!!! Definitely worth the money....

Ello-opolisThe ello-opolis playset is a great gift at Christmas time,birthday, and or any holiday of the year. I would reccomend this item of play for any young (8-14) girl who loves barbie, and other trademark dolls. I am an 12 year-old girl. Just like that. Once i saw the commericial for Ello. I thought. Hey, that's pretty cool. I told my mommy and when we went to Wal-Mart, she said hey, this is pretty cool, would like a set? I told her that I would love to have them. Awesome Toy!!This wonderful toy was given to my 6 year old girl for Christmas last year (2003). She loves it and we (the parents)do too! This is the ONLY building/construction toy she has ever been interested in, and we are thrilled with how often she plays with it and what she makes with it. Ello encourages creativity, design and building in a very fun way! Now we're buying one for every birthday party our daughter goes to. In her words "Ello rocks!".
Very Creative!My 7 yr old daughter received this for a gft and she just loves it. It's all about using your imaganaiton. There are no instructions. She has made so many things including a micraphone for the ello people to sing. I even love to play with her. The only drawbacks is you have to be carefull with the pieces since they are small. I also can see kids under 6 having some difficullty putinng the pieces together. All in all it's a great toy.

Awesome for family funI bought this for my daughter for christmas and we made it a family project, we each painted a butterfly and it was alot of fun, gave her a chance to use her imagination as to what she wanted HER butterfly to look like...She attached the magnets and we now have it displayed on our refridgerator. I would definately reccomend this for a child who loves to be creative.

Fun Art KitWe recently did this paint your butterflies kit on a gloomy day. When we opened the box, I really did not expect to spend too much time to finish it but it was one of those projects that you can finish quickly or be really creative and have hours of fun. Everything you need is in the box, the main objects are 3 life-sized wood butterflies that look real, I was expecting those flat ones that you see in some craft stores but these are so nicely done that my 9 year old said she will keep forever. Tattoo with your childKids love tatoos and my daughter is no exception. Short of actually letting her go get tatooed, this is great. It's fun...you get the hang of it after realizing you can't put in too much water. Enjoy...even my husband was tatooed, so I think it's fun. They wash off in the bath.

GoodMy mom bought this set for my four year old son last week. At first I thought it might be a little advanced for him, but he got the hang of it in no time. Now he is tattooing the whole family. They are pretty easy to rub off, but that's probably a good thing, since he covered my daughter's face with flowers right after she got out of the bath! For the price, this is a great toy.

Fun Now and LaterI purchased three "Paint the Wild: Puppies" kits for my daughters, ages 5, 8, and 10. They very much enjoyed the process of painting the puppies to match their favorite breeds, as well as some newly created breeds straight from their imagination.
The puppies are a lightweight wood (likely balsa or soft pine) and are durable enough to play with after the paint has dried. There's plenty of paint included to complete your masterpieces.
Satisfaction with this product has inspired my decision to purchase other "Paint the Wild" kits. The horses were also a big hit with my children.
This is a good choice to fill a rainy afternoon. Also is an excellent gift item.

Not what I expected.Was disappointed that the puppies were basically chunks of wood faintly resembling dogs...thought they might have more detail or finishing. Would probably pass had I known....

GREAT FUN KIT!The kit was great I thought it was soo much fun to paint the puppies different colors! This toy is really cool because you can hang your puppies,put magginets on them or just play with them! This toy is pretty durable but if you slammed it really hard on a hard floor it would probally break.If you like craft kits you should deffinatly get this one.

* Simple for an adult, challenging (but not overly so) for a child
* All of the *sturdy* parts included
* Unfinished: can be painted or stained. Let the kids paint it however they want! The birds won't know.
CONS
I ONLY WISH HOME DEPOT PUT OUT MORE OF THESE TYPES OF KITS! There are just two others that I've seen--a small greenhouse/planter kit and a message board.
PURCHASING RECOMMENDATION
In my opinion, kids just don't get enough building experiences with creating something like this that truly is useful. We buy things ready-made, or we call a contractor to do it for us. THIS IS A GREAT PARENT-CHILD PROJECT. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. And let's don't forget the girls--they can do this, too.
