Bratz FM Cruiser: Baby Blue
Made by MGA Entertainment
Age Group: 6 - 9 years
    Amazon base price: $39.99
    List price: $44.99 (that's 11% off!)
There are plenty of toy cars that emphasize fast speeds, thrilling chases, and horrifying collisions. No such high-pressure motoring comes to mind when encountering this snazzy ride. It's built for cruising. Its working radio, located in the dashboard, operates by scanning for stations in much the same way a standard car radio does. While it features no digital readout of stations, the music was not hard to find when we tested it. The doors and trunk open and close and the lights and horn both work well. The car comes equipped with stickers, a pretend cell phone, and even a disco ball for added glam. --John Moe

    Bratz convertable cruiser
I love the idea of it with the radio and lights and horn and also the fuzzy steering wheel cover and seats. It is hard to put the battereies in the trunk because you can't get the screwdriver into the small trunk space and teh doors are continuously popping off but are easy to re-attach until it finally breaks past the point of fixing. For the price to purchase this toy It should have been a remote controlled car.How cool would that be???

    SO COOL!
This car is so cool! It's so fun! I got my F.M. cruiser about a year ago and it's still all together. One of the doors fell of but it snapped back in. I get alot of great radio stations on it and the real, working horn is so cool! The only complaint I have is that it should have turn signals. It's awsome!

*OUTSTANDING* toy. But there are some problems
This car is absolutely fantastic. It is simply the most amazing toy car of any kind I have ever seen. It has it all, even real rubber floor mats and a rearview mirror dangly. It has a real FM radio, working head and taillights, retracting, buckling seatbelts that stretch to accomodate not only the girl Bratz, but the Boyz as well. It has a working horn. Not to mention its awesomely, head-turningly retro 60's Cadillac styling. It also rolls very well. I would have rated this car the max 5 stars, (10+ stars for the detail and style!) except that it has some fairly important problems. Namely: 1) The car has to be stored away from the dolls. The dolls shoes also cannot be put in the trunk. There's some kind of chemical reaction that permanently, irreversibly mars both doll and car. For those of you who are reading this who also own the Salon N Spa, please note the same reaction happens with the Bratz shoes and the salon floor. I solved this by cutting Post It Notes into Bratz shoe shapes and attatching them to the undersides of the shoes. 2) The chrome on the car rubs off incredibly! easily. Often, even mint in the box cars show extensive rubbing on the chrome bar across the top of the windscreen. (Again, this is also true for those items in the Salon that are chromed.) That said, this car is really a display item. It should be given only to collectors or older children who will treat it gently and who understand they have to store it away from their Bratz.

Tiny Love Gymini Deluxe: Noah's Ark Design
    Made by Tiny Love
      Amazon base price: $49.99
Activity mats are a staple baby item in most households. They provide a safe, fun, and educational environment where babies can lie, or sit, and entertain themselves. Tiny Love's award-winning deluxe mat depicts a riot of happy animals in Noah's Ark. Roosters, cows, giraffes, and even puppies will charm your baby. A couple of squeaky, crinkly portholes hiding a cat and a lion add interest to this already jolly toy. Baby will love the turtle mirror, rattling whale, jangling octopus, jingling rainbow, and the seahorse that sings "Old MacDonald." This mat will provide endless sensory stimulation and will build baby's language-learning foundations. The mat and its arches fold up nicely, and the entire gym snaps together and travels easily. --Sandy Hirsch

      No question, you'll want this
This was a gift from my wife's grandmother, and I frankly just didnt understand it. "The kid's going to just lie on it, on his back, and stare at that stuff?"

Yep. That and more. For awhile, it was a soft place for him to lie and look at stuff. Then it became stuff for him to kick, and figure out his feet and legs. Then, slowly, he started to be able to reach the pieces, feel their texture, and even trigger some of the hidden gems. (The sea horse, for example, makes music when you squeeze it - and is still making music after months and months of being played, although we havent change the battery, and cant figure out how to if it ever becomes needed.)

My only question is the "12 months and under" part. He's already using it to pull up and stand, at under 9 months, and it isnt sturdy enough to hold him up. But for those first nine months, you'll want it!

      What a lifesaver!
I LOVE this gym! My mom-in-law bought this gym for my little one and if I didn't have it I wouldn't get ANYthing done! My 5 month old loves it. She's been playing in it since she was about 2 months old. For a little while she got bored w/ it, but now that she's discovered her feet - she plays in it w/ her feet in addition to her hands now - she likes it again. It allows me to check my email, drink my coffee and have some "mommy time" in the a.m. 5 stars!!

      GREAT PLAY GYM
We bought this play gym for my daugter when she was 3 months old. My only regret is that we didn't get it sooner! I'ts big and fun! My daughter loved all the creatures hanging about! It's easy to tote and easy to wash(you can't put it in the dryer, but I never found it a problem because the material dries really fast). Now that my daughter is almost 6 months old, she does not want to be lying on her back anymore. So my only advice ..to get the most use..get it before or soon after your baby is born! Good buy!:)

Rock A Bye Chou Chou Doll
      Made by Zapf Creation
      Age Group: 36 months - 8 years
        Amazon base price: $34.99
        List price: $39.99 (that's 13% off!)
Rock-a-bye baby--when this doll is patted, the crying will stop. Rock A Bye Chou Chou makes lots of cooing and burbling sounds, and just like a real baby, she cries for attention, too. She can be comforted by patting her firmly on the back or by giving her a bottle or her own pink pacifier. When Chou Chou is placed on her back to sleep, her blue eyes close, and she "falls asleep" with gentle, regular breathing sounds. When she's picked up, her eyes pop open and she "wakes up" with giggling or crying. The 19-inch doll has the same high-quality materials and construction of all Zapf dolls, with a pretty, hard-vinyl face, molded vinyl hands and feet, and bean-filled arms and legs for a cuddly feel. Rock A Bye Chou Chou wears a pink and white sleeper with a matching cap, and she requires three AA batteries (not included) to power her coos and cries. --Marcie Bovetz

        Lasting item
I was searching for additional outfits for my daughter's chou chou doll when I decided to add my comments. Two years ago I searched for a realistic first doll for my daughter's 2nd birthday. Chou Chou is what I found and she has lived up to every expectation. My daughter seems to have gravitated toward the smaller dolls such as the madeline 8 inch collection and now even smaller the polly dolls and accessories. But she continues to have Baby Chou Chou on hand sleeping in her own bed nearby. She loves to change doll clothes, so I try to always have accessories for all her favorites. One thing I must say is that for a doll who is approaching the end of a 2nd year with us, she has remained in excellent condition. No signs of wear. She doesn't go through tons of batteries either. We've replaced them once a year or so. I would highly recommend this doll. I agree with one of the other comments about the velcrow on the terry. Snaps might have been a better idea. I think the accessories for this doll are nice but a little pricey. My daughter loves to feed chou chou her bottle and give her pacifier to her. Sometimes she's had to bring her to me to stop her crying. Takes a firm pat on the back. She loves it and that's all that matters to me.

Cutest I have seen for some time
This doll is cute, realistic in size and weight, good features, sounds more real than its competitors, etc. It has a cute giggle and breathes like a sleeping baby after it falls asleep. I like the automatic shut off it has so the batteries last longer. (It shuts off if it is left alone for a while). My 4 year old likes this toy. It also had real cute outfits that you can buy for it. The only thing that both my daughter and I don't like is that if you are playing with it and slightly lay it down, it starts yawning and you can't get it to stop unless you turn it off and on or let it fall asleep then wake it up. (It yawns continuously until it falls asleep). This is aggrivating when my daughter does not want it to sleep. The only other thing I can think of is that the outfit that it comes with has velcro in the back. This may not sound like much of a deal but when toddlers see that they can get the outfit on and off themselves, they do it. The velcro picks the terry cloth material this outfit is made of if you are not careful. You can imagine what it looks like after a toddler takes it on and off several times.

A must have for little mommy's/daddy's
My daughter begged Santa to bring this baby to her - and when he did she has been the best little mommy ever since! The doll is weighted just right and makes all the cute baby noises that baby's do - but she's not too loud. We don't care for the bald head/sculpted hair look so we jumped online and bought a baby doll wig for less than $10 and she's even more adorable and unique. This baby is well worth the money!! Zapf always makes such good quality toys we have never been disappointed. We highly recommend this baby for any aspiring mommy or new big sister or brother, our three year old son likes to take of the baby too. PS - she's very sweet with her bald little head, the wig was just something we did.

        Lamaze Play & Grow: Celeste
        Made by Learning Curve
        Age Group: 1 months - 2 years
          Amazon base price: $11.99
Want to give your new baby the sun and the moon? Celeste has a three-dimensional, yellow velour sun face with black embroidery on one side, and an embroidered satin moon face on the other. Trimmed in brightly colored, boldly patterned cotton prints, this is one visually stimulating toy. Dangling from Celeste's round body are four stretchy black-and-white polka dot ribbons with a different toy suspended at each end. There's a yellow star teether, a square of purple velour with an embroidered butterfly that rattles when shaken, a green velour circle with embroidered ladybug that squeaks when pressed, and a triangular plastic link. Celeste is easy to carry, too, thanks to a crinkling fabric handle. --Tami Horiuchi

          Cool
I got this as a shower gift and my son loves it. I have it hanging over his changing pad, and we change it from the sun to the moon at night and back in the morning. He's 4 months old now and he loves to coo and squeal at it. And he gets really excited when he can grab it and put it in his mouth! Yummy.

          Jameson loves Celeste
Celeste is the BEST!! My son absolutely loves this toy! We take it everywhere that we go. My son is very particular about toys. To this point, he hasn't cared for much of anything that I have bought for him. Then one day I was shopping for something else and picked this up and gave it to him. He immediately held on and put it in his mouth. When I tried to take it away to pay for it, he cried. Right now he is 5 1/2 months old and we have had Celeste for about 6 weeks. My son loves to hold on to the black and white tentacles and put the toys in his mouth. He much prefers the sunshine side to the moon/stars side. The toy is very soft and plush and Jameson loves to just pet it with his hands. He also likes the little handle loop at the top bacause it makes a crinkly noise. I recommend this toy because it is very soft and extremely well-made. It doesn't have that harsh sort of cheap feel that so many other soft baby toys have. The face is very inviting and has so many places and textures for a baby to grab onto. Although I have yet to wash it this way, it looks as if it would easily wash in the washing machine.

          Excellent toy starting from birth
I was given this gift at a baby shower. My daughter has loved this toy from birth. When she was a newborn, we would hang this toy from a shelf by her changing table so she could look at it and learn to reach. My daughter is now 8 months old and she still loves it! We will hook it around the handle of her car seat and it acts as a mobile. Now that she is teething, she loves to chew on the yellow star. This is a great all around toy that encourages the child to reach out and bat and grasp. My daughter has not tired of exploring or playing with it. Highly recommended!

          Corn Popper
          Made by Fisher-Price
          Age Group: 12 months - 2 years
            Amazon base price: $10.99
This is probably the first toy that (no pun intended) pops into your mind when you hear the name Fisher-Price. Maybe this will jar your memory: the Push Toy Corn Popper has a long, blue handle (well, "long" if you're 3 years old), and rolls along on two brightly colored red/orange wheels while making great popping sounds as it bounces brightly colored balls inside a clear plastic bubble that's mounted above the wheels. So much for the technical specifications. There must be some unwritten law that every toddler has to have one of these. And with good reason. They're still fun! --Chris Livesay

Great toy, especially for those new walkers!!!
Our daughter, who is 13 months, loves this toy! She pushes and pulls it around the house with a big smile on her face. Your new walker will enjoy this toy as well.

If it's not noisy, it's not fun!
Hamilton from "Maggie and the Ferocious Beast" calls this toy his push-me-popper. My three-year-old loves it, and so does her 18-month-old brother, who likes to "vaccuum" the floor with it. He's getting one of his own for Christmas. For those who complain of the noise, there are many toys out there which produce more annoying sounds. My son tends to find the most horrible noise an electronic toy can produce and push that button until his sister lobs a stuffed toy at him. I'll take the popping balls over a police siren/fire truck/honking horn any day.

Seriously, though, we set aside quiet time in the evenings for the family, and the noisier toys are put away. Mornings are the rowdiest time in our household, and we try to wind things down when bedtime approaches so it's easier for the little ones to settle down to sleep.

This is one of my son's FAVORITE TOYs!
I bought this for my son when he was 11 months old. He was already walking VERY well and he absolutely *LOVES* this toy! (I would not recommend this to a toddler just learning to walk.)This toy has different colored balls inside and the balls *POP* as the toy gets rolled along the floor. I don't know what it is about this little toy, but he plays with this ALL THE TIME! After reading other reviews, my son never "swings" this toy! He thinks of it more like a vacuum because he sees mommy vacuuming all the time. And some of the reviewers wrote that their children run over their toes??? This is a very lightweight toy. If my son does run into something he simply backs up and goes another way. In that way it is a pretty educational toy that will teach cause and effect. OVERALL - Very Good Toy at Very Nice Price! VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

              Toy Crazed Mom!
Keep in mind that my son is only 6-7 months at the time we bought the toy, so his interest might change later, but so far here we go.... He wants to stop the ball on the top, on the track down, or just take them out totally,so far -- making it not work well. He easily tips it over because its top heavy -- making it not work well. Ours needs assistance to make the balls come out the top by pushing the balls at the end down - then they'll come out, but that's every time. There should be a mode where you can leave it on always - and not have to keep hitting it to amuse your son who can't figure it out yet. It's not a self play toy. Buy the one in the completley closed box, not the one with the balls showing through - their motors are way too loud, and drown out the music - those are the ones with the solid colored balls in them - BAD. Oh yeah, and they are easier to pull apart too. I think that if I put new batteries in it all of the time, I wouldn't have to assist to make the toy work properly every time, but who wants to do that and can afford it! I hope he likes it more when the balls pop out and he can get them, that's what I'm waiting for, because he also might be able to play a little more solo by then too. It does entertain though. I bought it and kept it, and I have no problem returning toys if they bug me AT ALL.....so it's all right.

              Fun toy
I put this together for my son when he was 6 months old. I would push the plunger and he would clap when the music played and the balls went everywere. By 8 months he was putting the balls in the chute and taking them out. He was also taking it apart. He has taken it apart so many times that it is now takes some work to get the orange piece back into the holes since it has bent a little. He still plays with it at 11 months old, but he still takes it apart when he is done. He loves the balls and the music it plays. HE has been trying to figure out how to get the pink fan off. Luckly that is attached!

              Fun Fun Fun!
We first bought this toy as a gift for our nephew who was 1 at the time. He couldn't get enough of it, and neither could our 2 1/2 year old. He cried when our nephew took it home with him so we ended up getting one for him as well. A year and a half later, he still loves it and so does our 1 1/2 year old daughter. It has promoted some basic experiments (what do feathers do when you put them inside the toy, for example) and has served as a nice learning toy. The music is fun as well. All in all, this is one of the best purchases we've made, as far as toys are concerned. (We're even buying another one for a gift tomorrow!)

                Best purchase of the season!
I purchased this item for my one-year old nephew. I wanted to put it out as a decoration....but one that he would actually be allowed to touch! Over the years I want to be able to teach him about the "nativity" and it's meaning. So many people have asked where I purchased it and are interested in getting one as well. I truly feel that this was my "best purchase of the holiday season"!

                Great nativity for kids!
My 2 year old daughter just loves this nativity! It's neat that there is a nativity for kids that won't break and they can play with. I also got one for my nephew who loves it just as much!

                Excellent Toy, Excellent Learning Tool
Growing up, I loved to play with Nativity sets at Christmas. My mother was pretty smart as she never invested big dollars on some highly collectible Nativity set because she knew that children were drawn to little figurines in miniature settings. . . She had a modest set that we adored and played with for hours on end at Christmastime. It's one of my greatest childhood memories-sitting there playing with that modest Nativity set!

Well, luckily, times have changed. If you want, you can have your own expensive collectible set, and your kids can have their play set because of Fisher-Price's wonderful offering.

Or you can simply have this set which I think would be enough, and enjoy using it to teach children about the birth of Christ. . . it's wonderful for even a 9 month old to play with. Both of my children are under the age of three, and my oldest has learned about Baby Jesus from this set. He loves to sit and play with it and sing "Away in A Manger". I think so highly of this set that I purchased two more sets for both of my nieces to have!

I admit that this is probably one toy that may make the biggest differences in the kind of lives that my children decide to lead as long as I share what is most important to them and their futures when I give them this toy: the message of Christ's birth.

The toy is durable. My kids mouth on this toy, sometimes they throw parts of this toy, and I even caught my oldest trying to use this toy as a stepping stool. It's still holding up very well and does not appear damaged in the least. This toy also does not take up a lot of real estate in the closet or when in storage.

I do wished they had included a shepherd. That's missing. But overall, I thought this was worth the money simply because the message that you can teach your children with this toy is really PRICELESS.

                  Stroller great but .....
My 2 year old received this as a Xmas gift and has enjoyed it but she wants to know why the handle on the car seat doesn't move like baby car seats do.

She has fun with it but the front wheels swivel too much - it would be good if you could lock them sometime as she is forever having to try and manuvoere the stroller

                  Very Durable!!!
After reading all the negative reviews for this stroller I was reluctant to buy it. However, I saw it in the store and said, "What the heck, I can bring it back if it has any of the flaws that I read about..." So, I bought it, brought it home and put it together. But while I was putting it together I realized the mistakes that a lot of people must have made...thus the negative reviews about the toy's durability (that's what I think anyway). You really have to push the wheel sockets in HARD, in order for them to click and be secure. Maybe I am wrong and just got a good one by chance, but I definitely think this toy is worth the try.

My 2 girls (2 and 5) absolutely love this stroller and play with it everyday. They have had it for about 2 weeks now and it's been bounced up and down the stairs, transported to the grandparents house where it was played with by at least 5 other kids besides my own, bounced up and down the stairs over there, rolled through the backyard, ran up and down the street where we live...so on and so forth. The big reason why I felt compelled to do a review is because we put the stroller through a very strenuous test today. We live about 1/4 of a mile from the beach, and we were all going to take a walk there and then take this nature trail which has an ocean view. The trail was covered with a boardwalk...not a raised boardwalk, but a rickety old one that sits directly on the sand. Some parts are even covered with sand that drifts onto the path. I told my daughter that the stroller might break if we take it with us and tried to convince her that it was a bad idea...no dice. She wanted to take her dolly "Trixie" out for a walk. So we take our 1/4 mile walk to the beach...stroller was fine. Then we take the rickety, bumpy boardwalk trail another 1/4 mile along the ocean, through sand and up and down hills...and then turn around and go 1/4 mile back to the beach...no problems. Then we walked back home another 1/4 mile...still no problems, and still going strong. My daughter looked at both my husband and I when we arrived home and said, "I told you my stroller wouldn't break...see?" She then demonstrated the brawniness of the wheels by running up and down the driveway. Well...she set us straight, didn't she? Buy this stroller ladies and gents...you won't be sorry.

                  Age Group: 6 months - 2 years
                    Amazon base price: $11.99
This colorful car collection develops motor skills and hand-eye coordination while your child makes important discoveries about sorting and strategy. There are four vehicles, numbered 1 through 4, of graduated sizes: a rattling green sports car, a blue police car with a revolving roof light, a yellow school bus with an opening sunroof, and a red fire truck with an adjustable clicking ladder. The vehicles can be rolled across the floor, and then stacked--ever so carefully--atop each other, and finally all nested inside the fire truck. Vehicles only nest or stack completely when arranged in proper order of size and number. Made of sturdy plastic, these toys can be dipped in warm sudsy water for easy cleaning. --Kathryn Gustafson

                    Very nice toy!
These are such nice cars to teach little ones numbers and the stacking value. Ours have been scooted across the floor, cat's tail, into walls, you name it and they've always come back for more. It's just a nice change from the nesting blocks and it's fun to hear all the vehicle sounds that children make with these guys. I'd buy them again for sure!

A neat, fun, little set of cars.
This was one of the first presents my son recieved after his arrival. Since then, they've been off and on hits with him. It has only been in the last few months however, (from about 15 - 18 mos.), that he's really spent much time with them. He enjoys stacking them up more than nesting them together, I think because he likes to knock them down once they're stacked up. Sometimes he can get a little frustrated by them since they aren't exactly easy to stack for a toddler even. With a little guidance and help though, he enjoys playing with them most of the time.

I think that they lose some appeal for him, as they're not as realistic looking as other toy cars. My son gets a lot of enjoyment out of pointing out real cars and trucks, and other toy cars he has that are more realistic looking get more of his attention.

I think what he most enjoys about the cars themselves are that each one has a different little feature that makes noise or does some action, or both. For example, the fire engine has a ladder on top of it that ratchets up and down, making a clicking noise in the process, and this is one of my sons favorite things about this toy.

Your child's mileage may vary, of course, but overall these little cars are well designed, educational, and enjoyable toys.

My 6 month old loves his cars!
This is a wonderful toy that is fun, educational, and affordable! The cars are different colors, and each has a different number, 1 - 4, to help a child learn counting and colors. They also stack on top of each other and nest inside of each other.(The nesting feature is great for storage too). Each car has a neat fun feature for little ones to explore (e.g., the small car is also a rattle, the large fire truck's ladder moves, etc.) The cars are also very sturdy (as has been proven by my son repeatedly banging them together,) and they are easy for little hands to grab onto. At 6 months of age, my son really enjoys looking at the toys, passing them from one hand to the other, banging them together, and, of course, putting them in his mouth. I imagine this toy will remain one of my son's favorites as he learns to stack them and roll them on the floor. I would highly recommend this item.

                    Mozart Magic Cube
                    Made by Munchkin
                    Age Group: 6 months - 4 years
                      Amazon base price: $34.99
Music stimulates the brain and encourages early learning skills. This interactive cube lets children choose from any combination of five different instruments--harp, French horn, piano, flute, and violin--to collaborate on eight Mozart tunes. A solo flute might play an excerpt from "Ah! Vous Dirai-je, Maman (Twinkle, Twinkle)," or a French horn intone a theme from The Marriage of Figaro. Other choices include "Country Dance #5," "Come Sweet May," "Der Vogelfanger" (from The Magic Flute), "March in D," "Landler," and "Là Ci Darem la Mano" (from Don Giovanni). Press the "orchestra" button and hear all the instruments play together. As the songs play, each selected instrument button flashes to the beat. The sound is not orchestral quality, but you get a fair electronic approximation of each instrument. Operates on three AA batteries (not included). --Tami Horiuchi

                      fabulous for babies and toddlers
My daughter loved this toy when she was six months old, and still loves it at 18 months. I have had no durability issues, and when I noticed the instruments playing out of sync I replaced the batteries, which solved the problem. I love that she can select different instruments to listen to, and that it exposes her to more than the usual canned electronic baby music... she now has a love for instrumental music! This is a fantastic addition to her toybox.

                      Great for the growing baby!
My son received this as a gift at Christmas. He was 3 mos at the time and it was a bit of a disappointment to the gift giver when he has no interest in it. However, by his 5th month... he was enthralled with it. The large buttons are easy for little hands to slap. The multiple songs are inspirational and enjoyment for both the parent and child. When played in dim room, my son loved the flashing lights.

My only negative comments are: I don't think a child below 5-6 mos is ready for the bright lights and sound (no volume control). It's great for music, but not as a "cause and effect" toy. The buttons are so easy to push, he'd set it off with his toes as he was holding it and didn't realize he was doing it.

I played with it for 10 minutes....
in the store. My husband wanted to look for baby toys and all I wanted to do was play with this cube. You can play the entire musical score or break it down into individual instruments. I can easily see this toy growing with the child, learning cause and effect (if I push this music comes out) to more sophisticated reasoning (if I push this I only hear one kind of instrument). Great for musically inclined parents and kids!
