How Safe?I'm in middle school and had to do a progect for Family and Consumer Science. The progect was to select a toy for a certain age group. We had recently learned about saftey of toys. This product has hazards! For example The top magnet has a small flower on it. This could be a potential hazard! If a child really tried they could rip off the small flower. Then they could possibly put it in their mouths. There you have it a chocking hazard.

A new momMy son received this as a Christmas present when he was 5 months old. For a regular toy, he enjoys playing with the parts and pieces; however, I wouldn't say that it is helpful for babies to learn how to stack things at such an early age. Some pieces rattle, and another has a plastic mirror, so it's fairly entertaining, but at 7 months he hasn't put the pieces together ... the only way to tell how they fit together is by size, as the magnets don't allow you to attach any one piece to another (every other piece fits together due to the polarity). That said, he does enjoy playing with it. I think I'm going to pick him up the standard fisher price rocking stacker in addition to this one.

Magnets are greatIts not until I took this toy out of the package, that I found how well it engaged my little boy and me alike. The colors and fabrics are great but the best part is the magnetic push and pull between the pieces that seems like magic to my baby.

We call it ShakeyMy daughter loves puppets and loves things that rattle, so this is a great combination. We named him Shakey the Giraffe. He is cuddly and has great colors.

Nice puppet for the $$$My son was 4 months when purchased and he liked it but after a few times of seeing it he would no longer giggle etc. He is now 9 months old and goes for the blocks, stacking cups. It just sits in the toy box. Hopefully he will find interest in it again. The toy is alittle aquard to put hand in and manuever it as my had is quite little.

My niece loves this toy!My niece will stop what she's doing every time I pick this toy up. She loves to give the giraffe kisses and "steal" it from me to hug! The toy is durable and colorful, not to mention adorable!

Activity Mat

Mommy and Me Play MatMy 4-month-old little girl *loves* this mat! We bought it before she was born and started using it before she was a week old. She loves the colors and is fascinated with the hanging toys. We've bought other toys from Mommy and Me and other brands to fill it up-----it comes with 4 toys, and has room to hang 5 more. The toys each play one nursery rhyme song, just loud enough to hear well without being annoying. She has adored the music since the first time we put her on the mat!
We looked at a lot of mats. This one is durable, washable, and *filled* with play value. Now that she is rolling over and learning to crawl, she loves to pat the different fabrics to find the ones that crinkle and crunch. She only falls asleep on the satiny one though. Great price, great value. 5 STARS!!!
The best of ALL play/activity mats! This is the best of all playmats that I've looked at, and I think I've seen them all! I had started my search before my daughter was born, through many physical stores and online sites, looking for eye-catching colors and design, varying textures, 'playability', and something unique that would differentiate from all the other multitude of playmats (esp. since all are quite pricey and I wanted to make sure I was making a good investment). After a long and thorough search, I finally found what I was looking for in this one, and my now 6-week-old daughter loves it too! The bright and unique mix of patterns and colors caught my eye, and I immediately preferred the design and color-combo over all others; there are more varied textures (ultra soft, smooth, furry, crinkly, crunchy, plush); the uniqueness, playability, and interactive factors are high in that each of the hanging toys plays a tune, and anyone can sing along since all of the lyrics are imprinted on the mat; and like most other playmats, the toys are detachable and interchangeable. From the moment I put my six-week old on the mat, her eyes opened wide. She lay happily contented, as her excited flayling arms hit the hanging toys (accidentally at first) and caused them to move. Even her two older brothers (ages 4 and 9) would lie down with her to bat at the hanging toys, and they get a kick out of being able to start up the tunes and sing the songs to her. I especially appreciate that the mat is machine-washable, easily transported to grandma's, and that the whole family and friends can get involved in baby's playtime. I also like all the other adorable and interactive 'Mommy and Me' coordinating toys that go along with this!
Love this cute mat!My daughter started playing on this mat about 2 months old. She wasn't big anough at that point to reach the toys but she still enjoyed looking at them and feeling the different textures of the mat. She also liked the colors and music. As she got older, she played with the toys that hung down. This is a great mat because she got so much use out of it! She continued to use it even when she started sitting up. We simply took the the top part off and let her sit on the mat to play...we also took the hanging toys off of the top part of it so that she could continue to play with them. This mat truly "grew" along with her. We really liked it!!

WOW!I got this toy for my little brother. And he loves it! It was perfect for him. The only time it didn't work was when I he used it on my knee and I was were slippery pants. He fell off. Otherways its a great toy and loves the "reigns"
Like it, but it is too smallWe love all of the mommy and me toys, so I was very happy to find something for "daddy and me". My son likes the pony, but it is a bit small for an 8 month old and is tricky to keep on a knee.
All of the textures - crinkle, plastic, rattle, terrycloth - are a hit with my son. The toy is well constructed and brightly colored.
I would have no objection to paying a little more for the same thing a little bit bigger.
Pick something else! The knee pony is very small, even for my 9-month-old, and it doesn't stay on my knee for more than three seconds. It looks cute, sure, but I'd recommend just about any other toy before this.

Musical Mobile
Made by Mommy & Me
Age Group: 1 - 5 months
Amazon base price: $34.99

looks great, but...This mobile looks great, it has very unusual design. I'm tired of seeing all of the Winnie the Pooh or loony tunes characters, so this was the best looking mobile you can find. Also, toys can be removed from the mobile and your child can play with it as a finger puppet. The only upsetting thing is that it does not turn or spin, because toys getting stuck on the plastic base (which you hook to the crib). I tried to move them around, but it still not working properly! Finally, I had to tie animals tails with the rubber band so mobile can turn and play music. (I really like the design, so I don't want to return this product...although, it's a very annoying defect.)

Birdhouse Shape Sorter

Not a shape sorter, but has benefitsThis toy should not be called a shape sorter, but if you take a good look at it before purchase, it is obvious that it is not. It is bright and colorful, and plush, which is safe for your baby. It squeeks, crinkles and tweet-tweets, and my son loves it. So does my 5 year old daughter for that matter. It is durable, washable and seems to be entertaining for my baby, which is a good thing for any toy. It is a toy that can travel easily (packed in a diaper bag and springs back to life) which means that is is "sturdy" for a plush toy. It is the kind of toy that leaves room for your childs imagination and role play, which says a lot considering all of the toys made today that take away any form of imagination. It was well worth the purchase!

Cute but not enlightening!I received this as a baby gift from my best friend (who has no kids). It is easily one of the cutest toys I've ever seen. The three shapes all make a noise: crinkle-paper square, rattle triangle, and squeaking egg/chick. The bluebird on top of the barn sings when squeezed. It is soft-sided and the barn door on back has velcro to keep it closed.
Unfortunately this is not the toy to buy if you are looking for a shape-sorter. While there are spaces for each shape (circle, square, triangle) the soft material allows all shapes to fit through all holes. It's constructed to remain in the shape of a barn, and it does. The 3 loose pieces can be set in the opening of the same shape and it won't fall into the barn so it is also very decorative just sitting there!
Finally, it is durable. In the year my daughter has played with it (she has liked holding the shapes since she was little), none of the felt or fabric pieces have frayed or fallen off of the barn, or off of any of the shapes. This toy has been roughed up, chewed, drooled on, and repeatedly squashed, but it is still in great shape.
I hate to give this a low rating because it is durable yet so darling, but it should not be called or advertised as a shape sorter.

DisappointingCute idea, little value. It's not a true shape sorter, because any piece can be stuffed through any hole. I thought it was cute and snuggly, so I bought it for my baby. She was less interested in it than she has been in my basic kitchen utensils. Save your money.
