The best football game of the year
NCAA Football 2004 is without doubt the best football game of the year. Even though NCAA is similar to Madden as far as gameplay and graphics go, NCAA is still more fun because you can run the best play ever created- THE OPTION! and there are more teams to choose from. The only thing I really dont like is you only know the players jersey numbers instead of their name. The dynasty mode is the deepest its ever been. The addition of Sports Illustrated is just awsome, however i must say that there is too much of a bias towards running backs winning the heisman trophy. But other than that the game is awsome, definately a must buy for the college football fan or just football fans in general. I have Madden 2004 but i want to sell it to buy this game.

The Triple Option Just Got Better
There is something about an EA SPORTS game that keeps us glued to our TV sets, keeps us up almost all night entertained into another world of throwing touchdowns, running the triple option play, and shuffling through the nation's top running backs you hope to recruit for next season. EA SPORTS offers those people out there who love sports, and gives those who wished they had the luck and skills to play Division 1 college football. Well, now you can. And you don't have to worry about your SAT scores to play for Notre Dame, either. EA's NCAA Football 2004 offers superb graphics, a deep Dynasty mode, and many plays to execute. My only complaint is that EA could have sped up the game a little, but overall the game is nice. There also should be an option where we can download real roasters for the XBOX. I don't know, you might be able to do that on the PS2 version. Overall, NCAA Football is the best football game I have ever played.

EA has outdone itself again - excellent!
I thought NCAA 2003 was the pinnacle of this series, but EA Sports has outdone itself with the 2004 edition of NCAA Football!

Certainly, they have added new "goodies" like Sports Illustrated magazine covers based on your dynasty season, heritage football teams that are dressed like their era, more fun and goofy college mascots, and overall better graphics.

The biggest upgrade, and the one most important to continuing fans of the series, is to the gameplay. It's those little details the average reviewer doesn't notice but you do because you've taken your dynasty twelve years deep. It's the fact that your offensive lineman are now awarded pancakes and you can therefore win the Offensive Lineman of the Year. Or the fact that you can lead a receiver with your throw to take him away from defensive pressure. Sacks are more plentiful. Special teams is vastly improved, with members of your team forming a wedge in front of you on punts and kickoff returns. No longer can you just play "Toss Sweep" and outsprint the computer to the corner. It takes sophistication in your play to advance. In short, NCAA has taken an already impressive football simulation and made it even more realistic and authentic in its gameplay. It has all the glitz, but it also has all the important stuff: the gameplay that makes you feel that your coaching and playing has an impact on every down.

One also has to appreciate the sheer expertise EA Sports has shown in assigning attributes to the different teams and players. It is extraordinarily accurate in gauging real teams' abilities.

So the positives of this game:
-Improved Gameplay
-Tons of goodies (throwback teams, Sports Illustrated, more of everything)
-Authentic recreation of what we all love about the college game

The negatives (and you have to look really hard for these):
-Some of the commentary dialogue is new, but most is the same as last year
-The opening sequence at the start of each game is slightly changed but largely the same
-Running backs don't catch the ball coming out of the backfield very well (I'm being very nit-picky on this one!)

Tremendous game... you won't be disappointed!

Great - until you play NBA Live 2004
This game was really fun when I first got it. The gameplay was great.
You can use classic uniforms for every team.
Players celebrate or mope around after a key shot.
    The franchise mode was alright.
The commentary could be a lot better. They repeat themselves a lot and say things that are stupid.
Fouls are called when they shouldn't be and aren't called when they should be.
1 on 1 is a really fun option. You can build up your skills and can play in an urban court, beach court, or a gym.
NBA LIVE 2003 IS OKAY, BUT COULD BE A LOT BETTER!

The other day I played NBA Live 2004 for the first time. I could not believe the realism. Everything is extremely realistic. You feel like your actually in a basketball game. The commentary can't get any better. The gameplay is outstanding, too. The smooth graphics and player animations. You can use EVERY classic uniform from every team in a game.

    A Major Improvement
For basketball game fans, NBA Live had been a powerhouse for many years. Since around 1999 though, the series has seemed to drop off a lot in quality and in gameplay. The series' translastion into the new age systems (PS2, GC, XB) has been somewhat of a disappointment to say the least. I have been looking for a great basketball game for some time and I think I finally have it in NBA Live 2003. The graphics and the gameplay are major improvements over previous versions. Everything flows very well and the graphics are smooth and detailed. You can even see the crease in the backs of heads of players who sport shaved cuts! Playing is a lot of fun. The only problem is that the first few skill levels are too easy and that it seems the computer cannot miss at the end of games. Other than that, the action is terrific.

The menus are also a major upgrade and are easy to navigate. Franchise mode is available and there are many features and stats to check out, from player contracts to fantasy drafts to the lottery, it is all there.

If you enjoyed past NBA Live games for the new systems, you will love this game. It has been updated and redesigned. A lot of work was put into 2003 and it shows. If you are more of a fan of the NBA2K series, this game boasts many of the same features while offering better gameplay (in my opinion). Buy this game; you won't be disappointed.

    Support Nintendo
Gamecube is the best system out there and the best of all time.
Its only 99$ with a zelda disk. It is small and has a handle. You can pick of three colors. IT has fast loading and doesnt make a horrible noise like the ps2.Also it doesnt has a sliding disk thingy. That can break. A wireless controller and the following exclusive tirles. Mario kart, mario party 4 and 5, mario golf, mario sunshine, animal crossing, starfox, zelda, wario world, luigis mansion, metroid, sonic, monkeyball, kirdy, rogue leader. and more.
also you can buy a hookup so you can play gameboy advance games on the big screen. and finally a huge space memory card. buy a cube

Great system w/ awesome 1st party games
The Gamecube is another excellent system from Nintendo. Unfortunately, third party support for the system is somewhat lukewarm. Luckily, as usual, Nintendo's first party games are instant classics and must play games for people of all ages.
    Pros:

Awesome first party games (Metroid Prime, Zelda: The Wind Waker, Mario Sunshine, Mario Party 5, Wario, Resident Evil, Mario Kart Double Dash!!)

Controller, while confusing at first, is pretty good. The Wireless Wavebird is awesome.

Awesome accesories (Game Boy Player, Wavebird, GBA to Gamecube link)
    Compact Design

Comes in lots of cool colors

    It's only 100 dollars!!!

    4 controller ports
    Cons:

Third Party support is waning (although there are still some good 3rd party games)

Not the best for sports games

Regarded as "kiddie" by older gamers, so you might not want to bring this to college (although Resident Evil is available, among many other mature games)

Can't play DVDs or CDs (Xbox and PS2 can play both)

Basically no online games and Nintendo is not making any online games

The game devolper Rare (who made Donkey Kong Country and Banjo Kazooie) was sold to Microsoft, so no more awesome Rare games for Gamecube.

Overall, the Gamecube's excellent first party games and cheap price make it a solid buy for gamers. This system is excellent for any gamer. It brings you hours of classic Nintendo fun for an economical price. If you are a fan of Nintendo or don't have a lot of money to spend, I highly recomend this system.

    My favorite system
Just a word of advice...Don't listen to the Marketplace sellers trying to rip you off by selling GameCubes for up to almost $300...they only cost $99 new. Also, you can get the Zelda classis 4-in-1 disc on Nintendo's online store and a lot less than the 3rd party sellers are asking. Many of the systems come with it at no extra cost.

      RPG Dungeon Play.
Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance is a beautifully organized game. It follows in the line of other great past Dungeons and Dragons games with detailed graphics, an in-depth story line, developed characters, and plenty of play time. This is a big game so you'll be sitting with it for quite some time. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 simply because it doesn't have a lot of replay value after you beat it. However, it is still a great game to add to a growing gamecube collection.

One of the best RPG games.
This game, while being somewhat short and simple, is a fun game with very good graphics and is very realistic. Anyone who has read the Forgotten Realms series or enjoys playing RPG, games should consider purchasing this game. It is one of the few games in which you can work together with another player to beat the game. This game can import players from a different file to a new or other game. This means you can take your character and play using that character with a friend on their file. Anytime during the game you can add a second player without having to start at another save point. Also for those who have read the Forgotten Realms: Dark Elf Trilogy, you can enjoy playing the game with Drizzt, the dark elf, by holding the L and R button on the character select screen and release after the game loads. Otherwise you can be an elven sorceress, a human archer, or a dwarven fighter. The game allows you to aquire new skills, grow to higher levels, buy your own arsenal, and customise your own charachter. I highly recommend this game. Unfortunatly, due to the blood and violence it is rated teen.

      I agree with the others
Very good game if you like D&D. Yep. Very good game.

The Jurassic Park Of Your Dreams!
The game is a very interesting title among all the sims that are being made (Oil Tycoon?!). The idea of this game is to create what John Hammond (Watch the movie to find out who he is) couldn't. The game has it's little annoynces (Stupid constant emails, customers get pushy real fast), but then it also has it's ups (large varity of dinosaurs, nice camera to get up close and personal to the dinos). The game also gives nice, yet somewhat boring missions and also some exercies to train you before you go out and build the real deal. My advice? You'll do fine if you just know the money cheat (heh heh). Aside from that the game also gives you the chance to jump in a helicoptor (For sedating furious dino's, and also to retire them (It upsets customers though), and also a jeep (Yup, just like in the films). The fun part about the jeep is that you can let them into a dino cage (Carnivore cages not advised, I tried it before and it didn't work out), and a hot air balloon. Depending on some of the attractions you build, you can take views from a tourist perspective (Watch towers, visitor views (It was so disapointing, if your hoping to walk and see what a toruist's sees, don't)). But overall, though dissapointing in some it stay's true to the film (Character wise and in some ways dinosaur wise) series. If your a Jurassic Park fan, this is a definite buy (Since they don't have mnay cool JP related games). If your interested in sims with a twist (Ok, so it's like Zoo Tycoon with that dino expansion pack, but still) at least check it out. It's worth a shot.

      excellent sim action hybrid
Basically, this OG casts you as the curator of jurassic park. research high security fences and sentry turrets, build the pens and attractions, and uncover dino bones and amber to create dinosaurs. very fun, the ability to climb into a ranger helicopter and zoom around your park is quite fun, as is creating a deathtrap for visitors (a fun diversion if you ever get annoyed by them). I wish they had more dinosaurs (iguanadon would have been nice) but all the really popular ones are here. My only complaint is the lack of realism. I wish that they hadn't followed the films so closely, considering that there are a few big innacuracies (velociraptor intelligence and size, spinosaurus existing on other dinos instead of fish...) overall though, I had a lot of fun with this game

      I AM HELP FUL
IF YOU HAVENT GOT THIS GAME YET .AND YOU LIKE SIMULATION GAMES YOU SHOULD GET IT.IT'S GREAT EVERY THING IS REAL.I MEAN THE DINOS GET SICK.THE SUPLIES IS GOOD THER'ES SO MUCH STUFF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT TO BUY.THER'ES ALSO A LOT OF DINOS.AND YOUR LAND IS HUGE.

Only hardcore fans of the series need apply
Mega Man Anniversary Collection contains the original Mega Mans 1-6 (NES), Mega Man 7 (SNES), Mega Man 8 (Playstation), and Mega Man Power Battle 1-2 (Japan-only arcade games). For those unfamiliar with the Mega Man series, it's a 2-D side-scrolling action/platform jumping game. The main gimmick of the series is defeating each of the 8 robot bosses, and using the weapons you gain from them to exploit the the weakness' of enemies/obstacles in the game. Each game has been faithfully recreated, with lightning fast load times and no more slow-down than what was in the original versions. Hardcore Mega Man fans will be pleased to know that all of their passwords and tactics from 15 years ago have been ported over intact. However, the older Mega Man games (mainly the NES ones) haven't aged so well...the primitive gameplay and graphics can't squeeze the same replay value out of them as pick-up and play classics like Ms. Pacman, Centipede, and Galaga. Mega Man 7, 8, and The Power Battles have a more polished feel to them and are enough to justify the purchase of the collection despite that fact. Ultimately, this compilation is best reserved for those who have played through the old games and understand them from a nostalgic perspective. You've been warned...younger fans who have been weened on fancy 3-D graphics and dual-analog stick gameplay probably won't find much to get excited about here.

      Still Holding Its Own
There are probably new gamers out there who have never even heard of Mega Man and find 2D side scrollers to be boring. I think of games like music: in order to enjoy new music more thoroughly, it helps to have knowledge and appreciation of what came before. The Mege Man series is one of the cornerstones of Gaming. The gameplay is fast paced, the enimies are extremely imaginative and the characters are memorable. This game is not only a great value, but for players like me, who haven't played all the games included on the disk (I only made it to Mega Man 3 back in the day) it is really a treasure. Lastly, if you are trying to decide which platform to buy this game for, get the PS2 version, not the Gamecube. For some bizarre reason they switched the controls on the Gamecube version and made the "B" button jump and the "A" button fire. Confusing! All is right with the world on the PS2 version: "Square" fires and "X" jumps.

      Great Stuff
I recently hauled out my old NES and SNES to play some old school games. Since I grew up on these machines, I really appreciate the simple controls and gameplay they offer, despite the stone age graphics and sound. I loved the original Mega Man series on the NES and just had to get this for PS2 when I heard it was coming out.

I played all 6 originals, but only owned 2 thru 5, so it is great to own those that I never had. After playing them again, I just can't believe how wonderful play control is in these original games. I don't think there are any games produced since with control this tight and crisp. I think the original 6 games have better control than 7 and 8.

      Some notes on each game:

MM1-This game makes me realize why I don't get upset at games as much anymore. This game is so difficult and frustrating, I still haven't been able to finish it. No E-tanks, no slide, no Megabuster, just jump, run, and shoot.
MM2-This is the first Mega Man game I ever played as a kid. I loved it then and still love it now.
MM3-Probably my favorite of the original 6 games. The tunes are the most memorable. The stages where you face the MM2 robots are quite irritating.
MM4, MM5, MM6-All similar games, all very good but not quite as good as 2 and 3. 4 is probably most difficult, followed by 6 then 5.
MM7 and MM8-I had never played these in the past. I have played both a little, and they are not as good as the NES releases. More modern technology made these much more complicated than the originals. You can't just pick up and play them and expect to get very far.

This is overall a great collection, and I had been waiting for something like this probably since the original Playstation was released.

If you want a cute game for girls, get Mario Kart, not this
The title says it all. Obviously, this game was made for little girls, but there's better games out there that might appeal to girls without insulting their intelligence.

I'm actually exaggerating a bit, this game is not nearly as bad as it could have been. Most of the gameplay is built on riding your horse, which borrows a lot from the Zelda 64 riding engine. Once you get off your horse though to look for runaway horses, watch out. Barbie is slow on her feet and can't run, which can get very annoying. There are also side activities, like unlocking outfits and washing your horse, which is as rudimentary as using the cursor brush to move over a horse.

But overall this game sucks. If you want to buy a game for your sister/daughter/niece, get her a real game with quality gameplay, like Mario Kart: Double Dash or Super Monkey Ball.

      Fun!
Ok, I'm 13 years old and I still "play" with barbie horses. As a horse lover major I had to try this out. As my birthday I go to go on a shopoing spree and I went strait to the horse isle. I found this game and tryed it out. I had to admit it was fun! I loved to play this game even if I have to play it on my brother's ps2. It is really fun and I think lotdss of girls of any age would have lots of fun. It doesn't atter what charecter you play it matters only if you have fun! in this case I did.

      What's the big deal?
Really, i don't see why everyone is embarrased about this game. i'm a teen myself and yet, i still love any games that have to do w/ horse riding and even if Barbie is in it, i'll still play it. it should'nt matter on what character you play (in this case Barbie) but just as long as you have fun playing the game. personally, i have to give credit to all those people who are not embarrased to play this game. so really, what is the big deal? i admited that i liked it.

        Absolutely Enormous!
Let me say up front that I was never the slightest bit interested in skating or sports games before the Tony Hawk series came along, but I am totally addicted to this game! It's fun, easy to learn, difficult to master, challenging, frustrating, rewarding and extremely inventive -- everything you could want in a video game. Plus, it's full of so many tasks, ranging from fairly easy to EXTREMELY challenging, that even if you only have a few minutes to play, you can sit down and accomplish something, then move on to the harder tasks when you have time.

The most amazing thing about this game is how totally huge it is. There are more levels and more goals than ever before. And the replay value is incredible. Even when you've finished the game (and good luck with that!), you can play again with one of the other skaters and have new goals to accomplish. Plus you can go back and try to get all the gaps and cash you missed along the way. The menus even include screens where you can monitor your progress in getting the gaps.

Be warned, if you're a perfectionist, you could spend the rest of your life trying to complete everything in this game. The rest of us will have to be content knowing we've played MOST of it.

If you've enjoyed the other Tony Hawk games, this is a no brainer. Buy THPS4 NOW! If you've never played one, you're missing out on what's probably the greatest gaming experience on the market today. You should also buy THPS4 NOW!

Stronger than Deep Blue, and friendlier too!
The Fritz program has been setting the standard for computer chess for over a decade now. It is, simply put, the greatest chess program ever written. World Champion Gary Kasparov himself admitts to using Fritz extensively for analysis. And why not? At an elo rating of, conservatively, 2720+, Fritz is the strongest grandmaster you're likely to meet and is in an elite club of chessplayers with only about twenty flesh-and-bones grandmasters in the world. In addition to its bona fides as perhaps the greatest silicon chessplayer in history, Fritz can teach you to improve your game. Fritz's fantastic "friend" mode determines the strength of your play and plays to your strengths and weaknesses gradually increasing the difficulty of play as you get stronger. Fritz's coach can watch you play and make suggestions, Fritz can rate your play, analyze your games or those of top grandmasters, and you can use Fritz to connect to chessbase's online playchess server and play with human opponents of all skill levels any time of day or night throughout the world! Imagine having a top chess grandmaster at your beck and call for lessons, friendly games, or game analysis all for a *one time* cost of under fifty dollars. Strong enough to take on the world's greatest *with success* (Fritz recently tied current world champion Vladimir Kramnik in an eight game match) yet patient enough to play with and teach your ten year old daughter when she comes home from school. Need I say more?

          For anybody past beginner level
If you haven't heard of Fritz, search the web. This is serious chess software.

For a beginner, ChessMaster has a nice interface, and its tutorials are useful. For anybody else, ChessMaster lacks features.

Fritz is great for lots of things...

          * Analysis: Whereas ChessMaster shows only the current line, Fritz can show as many lines as you want. It can even show a small chessboard in an analysis window.
          * Annotation/Training: If you enter one of your games into Fritz (and you can save them all in a database) Fritz can automatically annotate it, and it can even come up with training questions for you at tactically critical positions.
          * Sparring: This is a feature unique to Fritz. It will attempt to play at your level by ocassional giving you some free material, and then mercilessly regaining it. It keeps track of your level over several games.
          * Friend mode: Fritz will play its usual game (with whatever personality and level you choose) but it will sometimes make a tactical error. The depth of the combination will be appropriate to your own level of play. In case you miss it, Fritz will flash a little red light at you optionally to tell you to look for something.

          Other features:
+ A very nice, useful database. You can search for games from amongst millions by game, player, position, opening, etc.
+ An opening book. I like the way that ChessMaster names the opening as you play it. Fritz does that almost as well. What it adds is a full opening tree, which you can view while you play. It tells you the possible responses and their win percentages in high level play. (This is not really useful unless you are a very good player, but it is still interesting.)
+ Can play Shuffle Chess (piece positions swapped randomly) although it cannot strictly play Fischerandom.
+ Lots of timing modes, including Fischer time (bonus seconds per move).
+ Several personalities and playing styles. I prefer ChessMaster here for the weaker personalities, but Fritz does have a wide variety of settings.
+ Extremely strong and fast chess engine. (ChessMaster has this too. Most programs are well above master level these days, since computers have become so powerful.)
+ Nice user interface. I think ChessMaster is better to look at. The Fritz 3D board is playable, but not really necessary. Its 2D board is attractive enough. Its the GUI that's easy-to-use in Fritz. (Other programs with nice GUIs include ChessGenius, ChessPartner, and ChessAssistant.)
+ And there are plenty of features which are just too complicated to explain.

If you're a beginner, stick with ChessMaster. If you want more, try this. Great bargain. This software used to sell at a much higher price.

Many Features combined with easy gameplay!
I don't know why someone would complain about bugs in this game because I have yet to find one! My guess is that the person complaing about them is using a pirated version of the software and thus his problems were created.

Anyhow, the game is definitly loaded with features (most of which are already explained by other reviews) but the one thing I wanted to emphasize is that this game actually helped better my game play tremendously!

A great game in need of an overhaul
I've been playing Baseball Mogul since it first came out a few years ago. I typically play a 100-season marathon (which takes several weeks), and I've done this for each issue of the game, so the following thoughts are based on several hundred seasons of play.
This is a very original and addictive game. You are the general manager of a major-league baseball team, and you control the team's future, handling minor-league development, free-agent signings, trades, and so on--even the lineup and pitching rotation. (The only things you don't control are the managerial decisions on the field.) The prospect of controlling your team for several decades is genuinely exciting, and this game provides that fantasy opportunity like no other.
However, there are some persistent problems with this game, all of which are known to the programmers, and so much time has gone by since the original release that by now they should have fixed the flaws. For me, that reduces what would have been a five-star game in 1998 to a four-star game in 2004.
Within the space allowed for this review, I can't get into everything, so I'll just give an overview:
            1. The computer often makes mistakes when awarding wins and losses to pitchers, as you can readily determine by reading the box scores. There's really no excuse for that. For that matter, box scores are annoying, because the statistics are not presented in the standard form that any baseball fan knows (AB-R-H-RBI).
            2. Players' careers are too consistent in one sense, and not consistent enough in another sense. On the one hand, a player's career is quite predictable: it's very unlikely that a first-rate player is going to drop off the radar screen all of a sudden--something that really does happen to baseball players (just think of Chuck Knoblauch). So it's too easy to determine which young pitchers are likely to end up in the Hall of Fame. However, you can't predict at all HOW they are going to get there, because their year-to-year performance appears to be almost completely random. You'll find one guy hit .330 in one year, then .258 in the next, and so on. That happens too often in this game. Also, pitchers in this game are substantially more consistent than hitters, but in reality the opposite is true.
            3. Batting averages are too low and ERA's are too high. In a given season, this is only a slight problem, but it becomes clearer when you look at career perfomance: you will almost never find a player retire with a .300 batting average or ERA under 3.30. Even with today's scoring inflation, there are still pitchers like Pedro Martinez who can be counted on to have ERA's well below 3.30 year in and year out. And you'll NEVER find a player Tony Gwynn or Wade Boggs, with moderate power but a batting average over .300 year after year. They just don't appear. That's not realistic.
            4. There are too many power pitchers who retire with 4000+ strikeouts (and an incommensurate 3.90 ERA). And another oddity: stolen bases are too rare, and the success rate is much too low. I've seen players with 25 SB and 40 CS in one season! You'd think the manager would have told that fellow to stop running in May.
            5. The awards voting is not realistic either. Too many shortstops win the MVP and Rookie-of-the-Year awards (and too often you'll find a rookie with a .195 batting average winning the award). Closers NEVER make the Hall of Fame, which is absurd: I've had closers with over 500 saves who didn't get in.
            6. Some of the realities of dealing with players need to be worked into the game. The no-trade clause, for example--in this game, you can just ship out an old star anytime you'd like. You can't do that in real life. Signing free agents is too simple, and there is nothing like arbitration.
            7. This new version allows you to build your own stadium (a nice improvement) but the mechanism is unrealistic and absurd: you have to pay for your stadium in one lump-sum payment, so you have to save up for many seasons before you can afford it, and for some reason if your ready cash exceeds a certain threshold (around $300 million, I've noticed), your revenue inexplicably starts to suffer. There has to be a way to pay for your stadium by taking a mortgage.
            8. This version also allows you to start playing at any year from 1900--but if you start at 1900, there is a bug in the program that will cause pitchers to have ERA's around 10.00 (and Elmer Flick will win the Gold Glove at every position). The makers know about this. Why haven't they fixed it?

            Quick and Easy
In today's world of having everything occur instantly, Baseball Mogul delivers. The game is easy enough that you can be playing the role of George Stienbrenner in less than 5 minutes. It has an easy to use Windows interface that allows you to jump to different features within 1 or 2 clicks of your mouse.

With the new historical database added to Baseball Mogul 2004, you can replay any year in history. See the Red Sox crowned champions in 1986! What would have happened if there was no strike in 1981? The scenerios and possibilities are unlimited. Keep in mind this game is for the person looking to control a team from the front office. Make trades, sign free agents, allot more money to your farm system, raise or lower ticket prices, and develop prospects. You can simulate 1 day or the entire season. It is very feasible to simulate several seasons in less than an hour. For less than $..., this game is priced right. I'd recommend trying the demo distributed by the company to see if Baseball Mogul 2004 is right for you.

            Addicting!
OK, if you're looking for an exact historical simulation game, this isn't for you. It's not perfect, has some errors, and typos. But the ultimate test for a game is if it's fun, and this game is a blast-it's addicting. Once you start, you can't stop! I play the fantasy draft option, rather than replaying real seasons, as it is a real trip. You enter an alternate universe where some real players never existed, and some fictional ones pop up each season. It takes a while to learn all of the ins and outs of the game, but it is a lot of fun. There ARE a few things the makers could do to improve it: make free Agency competitive, go into the Awards/All-Stars areas more (the All-Star Game especially)as well as refine existing features, but overall i love this game!
