    DOOM II GBA ROCKS
The best GBA game you can buy. While the graphics may not be everything, the best part is the maze-like levels, blood & gore,Super Shotgun,Lvl 13:Downtown,Lvl 16:The Suburbs, blood & gore, more blood & gore :).I love playing this game...I think it is way better than the ps,3DO,and Jaguar ports, since it has all the areas, and the GBA managed to get a port of Doom 2 anyway!I's play this over any PS2 game(except GTA:VC and RTCW,those good games....)but anyway, but it if your into shooters.

    DOOM II, another green-blooded slaughter-fest!
Doom II is the eight best FPS for GBA and the 8th released for the system. Doom is an awesome game, Doom II is an awesome. Which one is better. It's a tie! They both are so good that there is no dividing line. Doom II features more of the same running-and-gunning gameplay, finding switches and keys to open doors, and blasting everything away that moves. However, there are new enemies, a new weapon, and more levels than the original. Unlike the first Doom port which had some elements from it's original PC version missing, the Doom II port has everything intact! Get ready for another green-blooded slaughter-fest!

    Pretty much a perfect port.
This is almost a perfect port of the 1994 PC classic, DOOM II, sequel to one of the most successful games of all time. All the monsters are in, as well as all the weapons. Torus, the company in charge of the port, did an excellent job (much better than David A. Palmer Studios who ported the original DOOM to GBA).

    Graphics 10/10
The graphics are on par with the PC version, although the GBA version is, understandably, in a lower resolution. Everything looks great, though. It is hard to find any negative things to say about the graphics; they get the job done.

    Sound 9/10
The sound and music are basically identical to the PC version. There are a few minor, barely noticeable differences however... such as the ''spider walking'' sound and cyberdemon walking, but for the most part, the sound is great.

    Gameplay 10/10
The fun of the original PC version is completely restored. For a more in-depth review at all aspects, please go read my review on the PC version of the game. I assume most of you reading this have already played the PC version to death, and wish to have a version on the go. For those ignorant, however- DOOM is a first-person shooter, where you basically go around and shoot strange monsters. It's one of the first-person shooters, therefore the focus is on action, and not completing mission and all that stuff that was recently introduced to the genre. This game has most of the most successful gameplay formulas for pure fun. For the veterans out there, here are the few minor differences between the PC version and this one: cacodemons sometimes get stuck... they fly down a hole, and can't seem to fly back up. It's an odd mistake, I believe. The blood is green instead of red (but you're shooting aliens, so it doesn't really matter much the color of blood). The movement can be a bit jerky, but that can be remedied by using the sensitivity adjustment in the options menu. Slowdown occurs when lots of enemies are on screen, and to eliminate slowdown, some walls were cleverly placed to separate large groups of monsters (these walls weren't there in the original PC version). Bodies disappear after the monster is dead in order to maintain a good, fast framerate. Overall, though, a perfect port- the minor gripes that I listed are overshadowed by the great gameplay and large amount of monsters, especially when compared to the original DOOM's on GBA. DOOM II (GBA) has 17 monsters, 10 more than the original DOOM.

This is essentially a perfect port. It is the first version (not counting the original PC version) to feature the Arch-Vile monster. If you liked the original DOOM II, definitely get this one to play when you're away from home.

Alien scientists have plotted to take over the Earth, and it's Duke Nukem's job to prevent them from executing their evil plans. Duke is using his full arsenal of weapons and is teleporting to various locations around the world to stop the alien menaces. Environments include the Temple of Amun in Egypt, complete with hieroglyphs on the walls, columns, and sliding stone brick doors.

Duke Nukem is, indeed, back..and with a vengeance....
Admittedly, I first bought a Gameboy Advance just to play FPS games on it(namely Doom) and, over the course of owning the system, I've collected quite a few FPS for it. Some absolutely awesome and some not worth mentioning. Yet, out of them all- I have to stand in agreement with the other reviewers here that say Duke Nukem Advance has to be the best FPS game on the GBA..period. Not that Doom, Wolfenstein 3-D or Ecks vs Sever weren't that good- they were for the time that they were released for the system...and I tip my hat to their developers on the tremendous jobs they did with them. But...Duke Nukem Advance pushed the envelope on innovation in the game. You're able to do things in DNA that you just can't do anywhere else. And, for that..it holds that crown as the best FPS on the handheld..at least, for now...anyways. The graphics are crisp and the control is smooth just like a FPS should be. If there were any gripes, it'd be trying to see your enemies in the distance. Yet, that is to be expected on a handheld. I must say I'm impressed with the job that was done on the game. It's definitely one worth adding to your collection.
As Duke says.."Hail to the King, Baby!"....

the best first person shooter to date
I had high hopes when I heard this game was being ported to the GBA, and it hasn't let me down! Duke Nukem is way better than Ecks vs Sever or Doom for the gameboy when it comes to playability. The graphics aren't great, but gameplay and smoothness (frame rate) are both awesome, the story line is the same "kick a** and chew bubble gum, and I'm all out of gum" type style.
The Artificial Intelligence could be better, its easy to "trick" the enemies by hiding around walls, taking quick shots at them, then ducking back around without ever being hurt, but you gotta remember its just a Gameboy.
This game has more than met my high expectations for this title.

Come Get Some with Duke Nukem Advance!!!
Hands down the best FPS available for the GBA. It was the 6th FPS released for the system. Duke Nukem Advance brings all the attitude and fire power to the small screen in a richly detailed FPS. The game feautures 4 exotic locations taking you to Area 51, the Temple of Amun in Egypt, the streets of Sydney, Austrailia, and an alien ship orbiting earth. The game feauters 10 fun weapons from your mighty boot to a shrink ray. All of the classic enemies from the original Duke Nukem 3D are intact with a few welcome editions. This is not only the best FPS for Game Boy but, in my expert opinion, the best game for Game Boy! This is definitely top-notch stuff!

      This game is sweeeeet!
I've never played the previous games in this series, but I'm going to after playing Kain:Defiance! The gameplay is so much fun, giving hours of entertainment hacking and slashing enemeies up. The puzzles to get to all the sword powerups were not too hard, and the powerups are defintely worth it! The experience system for getting new moves took a little while to figure out, but once you do it shines a whole new light on the action, since there are some moves that give you more xp than others. The graphics, sound, and music are all hauntingly beautiful too. If you haven't yet, get this game and play it! It's well worth it.

      A Powerful Epic Game.
After beating Blood Omen 2 for GCN, I figured something out: Legacy Of Kain would, most likely, be my favorite horror/adventure series ever. I played Soul Reaver for PSOne a little after, but I unfortunately hated it, so I wasn't sure about what I said anymore, until I got this game.
What's special in this title, why should you buy this title among many others you can buy? It has the best virtual character ever: Kain; it has the best voice acting ever (tied with Blood Omen 2, and since it's also avaliable for the Xbox, you should buy both, just as I did), it has amazing graphics, awesome combat system and outstanding storyline (specially if you have played the previous games and if you understood the previous games' history, because this series has one of the most complicated stories I've ever read). Ok... Any extras? Yes! Once you beat the game (it has no difficulty setting, but the game is a perfect challenge: not too easy, not too hard) you get lots of extra photos and lots of videos about the game (videos include the guys recording their lines for the game, some videos showing some scenario's development, from beggining until the complete thing that you see in the game, among others). Other very fine extras are the Soul Reaver and Soul Reaver 2 intro movies, avaliable since you start the game. As if that wasn't enough, you can also collect little objects found thoughout the game that unlock even more photos, rare photos about the series. Being said that, this game is worth every penny you put in it (you'll spend atleast 10 hours playing the main game from begging to end, if you have a walkthrough in hand; because if you don't, you can get to 18 hours easily).
What are you waiting for, gamer? Buy this game along with Blood Omen 2 right here at Amazon.com, or anywhere alse you can find. You won't be disappointed.

      Pure Vampiric Fun!
This game is so cool you suck blood and fight knights, demons, zombies etc. You play as the vampire god Kain or the fallen angel Raphiel. This game should be rated teen because there is hardly any blood. Only when you hit the final blow theres a bit but it disapears in mid air! Its a must have.

Something mysterious is going on at the reploid research island. The reploids have ceased functioning, their data strangely erased. The investigation team encounters "irregular" reploids infected with a strange new DNA chip. Known as DNA Soul, it replaces useful data with a devastating Sigma virus and places all reploids in imminent danger. Now it's up to Mega Man X and his comrade Zero to get to the damaged island and find out who is behind the DNA Soul virus. Game features include the ability to change between Mega Man X and Zero at any time and the chance to collect rare DNA Junk along the way to build new weapons, bosses, or even a new stage. There are four modes of play: X mode, Zero mode, Continue, and Extreme.

        X has gone Xtreme...again...
i never owned xtreme 1 but i played it alittle. i have x1 on snes, rented x2 an x3 along time ago an is disapointing to say that for those who dont know, the bosses r rips from earlier x games which to me isnt really a downside. i thot the dna soul however was a bit cheap but u simply dont hav to buy parts which is a good thing an the reason i hated that is it takes fun from finding boss weaknesses. Playing as zero was quite disapointing but x is pure gold! u can unlock modes an im not tellin ya them all but one mode u get to go against bosses from xtreme 1 an i found them pretty hard (its not every boss tho). Getting armor upgrades DOES NOT make game too cheap an is pretty fun using arm upgrade but difficult at first. This game is fun for on the road an once i felt like i was playing a real mmx game on snes so for those who didnt get to play x1,2, or 3 (shame on u (joking)!) dont worry the bosses r still waiting....slightly easier tho.

        SUPER GAME BOY COLOR GAME
This is one of the best game boy color games I have gotten. The graphics are awsome the game play is awsome. There are tons of levels to keep your attention for hours. This game has memory so you can save your game and come back. You can play two different modes both as X or his counterpart Zero. X has all the cool guns and you can keep bulding different armor and all. Zero just has a sword. So I have not played Zero much. I think there is one level you need to play Zero to win, though. For me, I am 32, this game is very difficult. I have had the game for a couple of months and have only gotten to the 2nd level. My son beat the game withough any problem though.

THIS THE THE BEST MEGAMAN GAME!
This game rocks! Megaman has to recover all of the files of the robots. But, he has to fight robotic killers meanwhile. YOu can play as Zero, the red bot, or Megaman, the blue bot.
The levels are much more challenging than the first Xtreme game. And, the ending is different by which character you, the gamer, choose. I have beat it, and it still gives me bonus games to play.

        The genious of spawn armagedon
Ok lets get a recap. Todd Mc Farlane creates Spawn with some dudes in 1992. And on 2003 they decide to make a Spawn videogame. And so far its awsome. The graphics are top notch and each move is so awsome that It would look as if Spawn was actually possing in your Tv. Oh yeah and don't forget the gun inventory. The game has a varietty of guns making it awsome to kill those hellish criters.
In overall: This is the best goddarn super heroe game ever.PS: Eventally thin game is not for younger players for the blood and the language, but the violence isn't that bad Imean really swinging your axe around like a maniac is not that intence, it's just violent.
And there are not that many blood spurts, exept when you shoot those mother eaters and when you axe them. Blood actually dips down the axe after you have used it. This game is so realistic. Heck even writing about the game makes me want to repay it. A dios meet me at my ps2

        Another Spawn Game?
Well, another spawn game... Finally I've been waiting for years. I never got a chance to play the dreamcast one, and Eternal was a little flaky... But i think this one is gonna make hell tremble! Seriously the sentient chains sound reallly cool, and having the ability to use Agony at any time rocks. Spawn is the coolest Anti-Hero ever and I hope that there will be a hell of alot more games featuring Spawn in the future.

Microsoft Finally Got the Controller Right!
The original controller that Microsoft released with the XBox was like the system itself, big and bulky. Those of you who remember how your hands felt after playing hours of Halo with those big bulky controllers will truly apreciate the new "S" type controllers. They are much more comfortable on your hands and make game play much better. Your hands are not crampy and in pain like before. The most notable difference will be in the white and black buttons. I remember how annoying it was to have to reach all the way to the top of the controller in an odd fashion to hit one of those buttons. They are now on the bottom of the controller, and it takes geting used to, but you will find they are much easier to reach and work way better in the new spot. All the buttons on the controller are more accessible and the control sitcks are easier to use. The blue color on this one is just cool and since it is the same price why not go for it?

        It's a good controller
I'm not going to compare this to the other system controllers out there, as they're all good in their own right. But this Controller S is very comfortable. I just got my Xbox yesterday (with an extra controller in this color) for Christmas, and I just don't get what everyone's problem is with holding this. All the buttons are where they sould be. The 'start' and 'back' buttons are easily accessable, as are the white and black ones. Not to diss on the original controller, but I like this model better, as the Xbox logo doesn't take up so much space.

Unlike previous system controllers (ie- the N64), my hands weren't sore or cramped after playing. You shouldn't have any problem when using this model, or the original one. Oh, my blue controller is a little darker than the one pictured here. It's more of a midnight blue.

...man it's lame when your review of a controller is even this long.

        The $30 is worth it
I know they have cheaper Xbox controllers out there, but most of them suck. I remember when I got a $20 controller, and shortly, it started working like crap. I know $30 is a little pricey for a controller, but I'd rather spend $30 for a good controller than spend $20 for a crappy controller.

Early Adopters Pick: March 2003. As the world's smallest video-game platform, the Game Boy Advance SP is also the first to use a built-in rechargeable battery.

Many decried the original Game Boy Advance's reflective LCD screen and its reliance on external light sources. The Game Boy Advance SP's main feature--optional backlighting--fixes this complaint nicely, but it's the wealth of other features that makes this system so surprisingly good.

At first look, you might think the SP is a sleek travel alarm clock. When closed, it's just as tall and deep as the original GBA, but only half as wide. Due to its clamshell design, the screen is always protected from everyday scratches. A small button in the center of the console turns on the backlighting element for use in low-light situations, like in a moving car.

Game Boy Advance angle diagram The SP comes with a well-designed power adapter that recharges a built-in battery; its prongs fold in for easier storage. Our informal tests found that it takes about four hours to fully charge (you can even play it while it's plugged in and charging), and the battery lasts about 11 hours with the backlighting constantly on--your results may vary. Using the backlighting less often will conserve battery power.

With separately sold cables, you can connect the Game Boy Advance SP to other GBAs for multiplayer gaming (above) or to the Nintendo GameCube (below) to access secret levels, exchange data, or use other special features that vary from game to game.
The quality of the backlighting is very good. It's bright and clear when looking directly at it, but degraded from other angles. This is only a problem for friends who are watching the screen from over your shoulder.

But size, power, and affordability do not come without trade offs. There's no headphone jack here, though Nintendo promises an adapter. The system isn't very loud at its highest volume, and the sound can be turned down to socially acceptable levels. The L and R shoulder buttons are a fraction of the size they were on the GBA, and thus are harder to hit. Also, the reduced size of the SP is slightly less comfortable for adult hands than the GBA, but perhaps more comfortable for smaller hands. The cartridge port placement on the lower part of the console is fine for GBA games, since they are flush with the console body, but older Game Boy Color carts will stick out in a way that takes some getting used to.

Open it up and the hinge will seek out a preferred, pre-set angle (about 150 degrees), though you can open it a bit wider or narrower for your own comfort. The hinge stands up well to lateral pressure, and over all, the SP seems just as rugged as its predecessor--which has proven to be very rugged, indeed. --Porter B. Hall

        One ugly gameboy
this console is just plain ugly. dont bother buying it when you could buy a good looking normal gameboy Advance Sp.

        Darn Sexy
man, this color it rocks so much. black and platinum matches very well. many people thinks it's goofed up, but when you hold it, man, does it feel and look nice (especially closed). ok, firstly (yes, it's a word) the sound is louder than the original gameboy advance due to the follwing: it's centered on the system and the holes are bigger, letting more sound project out, while on the original the second layer of plastic covered the sound completely, so it seemed muffled (compared to GBA SP). Second, the light cover all the area of the screen. the bulb is mostly at the bottom of the screen lighting upward. third, the buttons are more "precise"; they're more low, giving a nice click feel to it, think playstation 2 power button. fourthly, the folding of the system. ingenious. Just wish the screen can stay still when going past the preset position (see image). whenever a small thrust occur to the screen toward the body, the screen snaps back to the preset position. irrating if you want to hold/have the screen vertical/ly (like the GBC). Finally, it feels very expensively made, not like the cheapness of the original GBA. Sure the original is more comfortable, but you'll get use to holding the flat lower section in no time. btw, all SPs have glitter on them, if you're wondering (i was).

        great
This is the best. It looks awsome. The gameboy sp is the best. The graphics arent the best but with all the games you can get for it, it really makes up for it. Nintendo job well done.

Great gameplay, great visuals and design, makes pinball fun!
Pinball of the Dead is a strange combination of a modern day pinball machine and the House of the Dead arcade shooter. The graphics and design are stunning and the gameplay is good too.

There are 3 different machines to play, and they are all pretty different from each other. Before you shoot any ball you get to shoot a zombie via roving cross hairs. Hitting the zombie will net you some type of bonus, like multipliers or lost ball kickbacks, etc.

Within each machine (not really levels) there are the standard pinball sequences to hit like spelling out words to get big bonuses. More interestingly though, is the House of the Dead flair. All kinds of zombies are roaming the table. If the ball is going slow enough the zombies can deflect the ball. If the ball is going fast enough it squishes the zombies in a great big splat of green goo (color is configurable).

There are also special zombie battles and boss battles. The zombie battles are engaged by squishing a bunch of zombies and then dropping the ball in a hole. This will take you to a mini-game in which you have to squish a variety of flying/running/floating zombies.

The boss battles are even better. By engaging the right combination of table features (hitting areas, balls in holes, etc), you can cause a boss to rear his...ugly head in the middle of the table. Your immediate task of couse is to pound his ugly mug with the ball until he dies/goes away.

Of the 3 tables, I like the 3rd one the best (has hands for flippers) although the 2nd table has this neat pulsating heart/molecule thing that grows/changes as your ball rides the rails around it as well as a 2nd level area with extra flippers underneath the main table that see via a glass window in the main table. The first table is good too although I seem to have difficulty getting the ball out of the bottom area and up into play. The 2nd table is definitely the hardest to play.

Game play is good. Flipper action is accurate as is ball motion. NOTE: you HAVE to use "nudge" to be good at this game. The other note is that pinball tables are vertical and the GBA (SP) screen is horizontal which makes for a bit of machine controlled scrolling. There are plenty of times that you ball will drop between the flippers too quickly because the scrolling is not fast enough to keep up.

All in all this is an addictive game with a broad area to explore. The unlockable elements just add to the exploration.

This is a game definitely worth owning.

          Great pinball fun
Those of you craving a pinball game with an added bit of replay value should look no further than Pinball of the Dead for the GBA. An oddball game derived from Sega's arcade and Dreamcast hit series House of the Dead (another oddball HOD game is Typing of the Dead for Dreamcast), you play pinball on different zombie themed boards. Sound effects are taken from the House of the Dead series and sound surprisingly good on the GBA, while the graphics are much better than I expected and are sharp and nicely rendered. The gameplay is pretty much straightforward pinball action with side boss battles thrown in as bonuses. The controls respond well, but more time could have been spent on the boss battles, most of them are too similar to each other. All in all, if your looking for a good game in the recent wave of GBA titles, Pinball of the Dead is a good pickup.

The Pinball of the Dead - Great Game!
Whoever came up with this must have been on some quality Hydro. I have been a fan of House of the Dead games since the Arcade shooter came out and I have to say, Pinball of the Dead keeps up with the theme. The graphics are great, grisly and clear. The Sound is choc-full of "house of the dead" sounds from the cheesy music to the horky comments. The game comes with a save feature, music, custom options... and what I like the best, It keeps a toll of your damage. Zombies killed, bosses beaten... ect. You can unlock added features as well as you get better and better with the game.

The game plays like a normal pinball machine, flippers, bumpers, ramps.. all the stuff. But with a added fun feature... Zombies and Creatures, LOTS of Zombies and Creatures. They move about on the screen and after a little practice you can kill them with a hard hit from the Ball. It comes with 3 different pinball machine layouts, all crusty and grizzly looking with 3 dimensional graphics and layers.

If you like freaky weird games... You will like The Pinball of the Dead. It's entertainment value is high and very enjoyable.

            Cool Idea
I'm an 11 year old and I'm a Tony Hawk fan! I think that this is a good idea. As you may know already, Tony Hawk is rated T, but it is a fun game. I think it was good of them to let smaller kids have some fun with it too, but not with all the bad language and stuff. My only complaints are that some of the challenges are extremely easy, but I guess that this game was mainly for younger kids and they might have a harder time with it. My other complaint is that some of the songs are too...I dunno. I'm not very "in" to all that music, but there were a few good songs in this game like the "where's your head whatever" song. I guess that the music was mainly for younger kids too. Anyway, this game is a great buy. If you have children who around 8 years old, they'll LOVE this game! Even I do.

Fun game, and not too annoying to parents!
I rented this game for my 7-1/2 year-old son. He made faces at first but then played it solid. The graphics are fun, the challenges are at a good level for him. Hard enough to frustrate him a bit, easy enough that he eventually gets it and is proud of himself. I happen to like the soundtrack, having a dozen or so distinct songs is so much better than the usual repetitive "video game" sound. We turned down the voices and turned up the music.

My only complaints are (1) that the Disney character voices are not done by the original voice actors. Some of them are not even close. (2) The 2-player mode gets old really quick as you are just trying to beat each other's score, even with three games. It would have been nice to compete or team up for the games regular goals.

            game of joy
My friend's parents rented Disney Skate Adventure for his youngest brother. We walked by as he was playing the game and laughing to himself. So we sat down to check it out. We were just watching him play but it looked like fun, and we wanted to try also. We ended up playing the game with him for a long time. The game plays just like Tony Hawk 4, but with characters from Toy Stroy and Lion King and Tarzan. It is a nice change to play a top quality video game that is also lighthearted and good for kids. The graphics are pure Disney quality, the goals and characters are funny and the music is not your standard Disney orchestra stuff - and that's a bonus. I plan to order a copy to my own collection, and I'd recommend it as a great gift for kids.

if you are looking for quality....:

            but really bad graphics!!(...)!
like this is a disgrace to the GBA title! so for that i would give
            three stars!

i give this game four stars cause i don't like the graphics but other than that it's all good!

Very nice RPG; even more if you are a Harry Potter fan.
This GBA game is a very well done RPG rendering of the omonimous Harry Potter book.

You control the wizardly trio (Harry, Ron, Hermione) in the quest to unveil and defeat the traitor that caused the death of Harry's parents.

The story starts out with a well done and useful tutorial: while on the Hogwarts Express you have to try to capture Ron's pet rat (or whatever kind of rodent it actually is).

The story then unveils in Hogwarts. You can explore with your party the various chambers of the academ, visit locations you are familiar with either from the movie or the book, and make many pleasent encounters with notorious Hogwarts characters.

Combat is turn based and all members of the party have their own special powers. Furthermore, you get 17 spells you can learn and find in the game that will enhance your party's power and there are a lot of in game items with which you can buff up your characters' defenses and main game characteristics.

Overall the game is a very nice RPG, very simple and charming. Graphics is ok, as the overall quality of the game. Expect to play for no more than 20 hours though. Replay value is not that high, as you will be able to retain all the levels you accumulated in the first game (monsters instead don't improve at all).

            Bottom line:
This is a very nice Harry Potter game. I love how EA transformed it in a complete and simple RPG. I strongly suggest any Harry Potter fan to buy this.

Good Game, Good Pace, Very Enjoyable
I really enjoyed this game. The graphics are some of the best I have seen for Game Boy. The bonus activites/mini-games are also amusing, if slightly repetitive. I like the fact that the game offers the chance to grow as a character, both with items and spells and level-ups. The game goes pretty quickly, but mostly because it is difficult to put down. Congrats to EA games for another great addition to my Game Boy collection.
