A great web swinging simulator but little more
------Continuing the movie licensed games excellency------Well, this game is different. Obviously influenced by the GTA games, you can swing all around Manhattan (including the streets, which is new from the first game), crawl up any buildings (seriously, any, and you can also jump off any building). Being on top of a building and jumping off, or swining anywhere, Spiderman moves with such grace that not only can you almost feel the wind against your face, it seems just like the movie. No small feat.
There are random missions that pop up around the city (i.e. catch that car and save that man from that building), and then there are chapters with more detailed missions (you'll get a headache from the Mysterio ones). You also buy upgrades for your web swinging and combat moves, which brings us to our next thing.
The combat is fairly easy because of "Spidey Sense". Just keep pressing circle and Spiderman can dodge bullets, punches, and even thrown axes. Then kick the thugs in the air and punch the crap out of them while they stay in the air. Tying up thugs and tying them to lamp posts just makes you smile. You've got the power!
The reason I didn't give this game 5 stars is because there is a steep difficulty curve. Like I earlier said, the Mysterio missions are suddenly brutally difficult, and you suddenly have to be skilled at webslinging. Just look at swinging to the statue of liberty. You'll know what I mean.
All in all, this is a great game. To keep up your webslinging mastery just do all the challenges and keep purchasing upgrades.
and watch the flaws melt away... (4.2/5)

Isn't it fun to play without Raiden? When this game first came out for playstation, I didn't find much of it. But then when I finnally played it I simply said, good story, good graphics(for ps1 anyways) and it is very fun. The gameplay could be kinda confusing at first, but then you will get use to the controllers eventually. It then becomes addicting. The story goes as an undercover agent named "Snake" is looking for a nuclear weapon called "Metal Gear". The real object of the game is to go through every thing and not get caught. Its not a shoot everyone you see kind of game.
In this version though it looks like they changed the voices because in this version it sounds more clearer then the playstation version. Lets look at the facts:
1.kickass graphics
2.cool game play
3.great story
4.very challenging
5.most importantly (best game ever)
you definatley need to buy this.
The Ultimate Spy Adventure (Preview ONLY)The graphics are easily on par with Metal Gear Solid 2, and that's no easy task. The snow in particular (in the first level), looks incredible, especially when flakes stick to your binoculars. The faces are incredibly detailed, and the animation is slick and realistic, despite the classic Metal Gear over the top action sequences. This is a visual presentation that is both different and very similar to what we saw in the original MGS. However, here we have a new director under Kojima's direct tutalege, and a system whose full graphical power has yet to be tapped.
Is there any reason not to get this game? Honestly? Perhaps, if you didn't like any of the other Metal Gear games. Other than that? NO. There is so much talent oozing out of this project, it almost qualifies as toxic. From Silicon Knights who are handling the brand new engine and level design, to Miyamoto-san, who is assisting in maximizing the control and gameplay, to Kojima-san. This is his baby, and he is overseer of this project, even though he and his team at Konami are busy working away on MGS3: Snake Eater. These guys know how to make games.
I don't know of any downside to this entire development, except possibly the inability to include VR missions in this title. However, with the wizards who brought us Eternal Darkness, Zelda, and the original Metal Gear Solid all working on the title, along with the full returning voice cast, and Harry Gregson-Williams returning to redo the score, this looks to be the first killer app on the GC in 2004, and a title that may be able to hold its own against the onslaught of Halo 2.
Any gamer who likes the slick hollywood style presentation of the Metal Gear games, or who enjoys steath-action at all, owes it to themselves to watch this thing develop, and grab it up as soon as it hits shelves.

Enhanced CPU logic and AI allow for more effective fast breaks, with open players cutting to the hoop for scoring opportunities, and the fine-tuned turbo buttons afford players a wider array of in-game strategies. There are also enhanced dribbling and player movements, player-specific signature moves, and more responsive shot blocking. In addition, real NBA coaches roam the sidelines, and there is dramatic camera coverage of in-game and out-of-play sequences. You will hear what its like to be on the court with all-new player calls, as well as court and arena sound effects. Classic jerseys give gamers a chance to relive their teams glory days in authentic gear.

EA bounces back this year-peace
This Game Is Good, But Not Good Enough
ridiculous problems1. Any time you get like a 10-point lead, your team will now miss every dunk and lay-up until the CPU evens the score. This is not an exaggeration. I am completely serious. Strangely, however, sometimes you'll start a franchise team that will never have this problem. But I'd say 4 out of 5 will have the dunk/lay-up problem.
2. Any CPU point guard with a 3-point icon will be the leading scorer for the CPU team, draining threes with people in his face every time, against set defenses. If you play the Lakers, for example, Shaq won't miss, but will only end up with 10 points on 5-for-5 shooting, while Derek Fisher will end up with 33 on 11-for-20 three-point shooting.
3. If you have a lead in the last minute, the CPU will hit every three-pointer anyone but the worst shooter puts up, and will steal the ball from you most times, but, oddly, will not intentionally foul.
4. Nobody gets open on the inbounds plays, and half of your team will be off-screen.
5. No good player will resign with your franchise after a season if their contract is up, even if you win it all. They will, however, settle for a one-year contract for minimum pay with a crappy team. All the superstars end up with such contracts, but you do not have the option to negotiate prices and cannot sign superstars, who demand full price from you.
6. Most rookies the game generates will be given a sub-par field-goal shooting ability, but an above-average three-point shooting ability. In other words, can't hit from 15 feet, but can hit from 25.
There are other problems that make you think the development team was on crack when they made it, but, as one of the great mysteries of the universe, this game is still very fun and addictive to play. Why, God, why?

The game parallels the motion picture's story line, steering you through a progression of challenges that begins with the hunt for Uncle Ben's murderer and ends with a final showdown with the Green Goblin. You begin as Peter Parker dressed in his wrestling costume and must defeat a variety of thugs throughout each level before advancing to the next set of challenges. The game gets progressively tougher as you encounter, in turn, Shocker, the Vulture, Scorpion, and, of course, the Green Goblin.
Visually, Spider-Man is a treat: cityscapes unfold in realistic detail and are enhanced by sunlight shining between buildings; cutscenes offer seamless animation; interiors are painstakingly re-created; and Spider-Man and his enemies are well rendered, moving about the screen in clean fashion. As an added bonus, most characters are voiced by their movie counterparts, and the training mode features the sarcastic wit of Evil Dead star Bruce Campbell. --Larry White
Pros:
- Detailed controls bring Spider-Man to life
- Challenging gameplay enhanced by numerous fight styles
- Stunning visuals at every level
- Camera angles slow to respond at times
- Some interiors too dark
- Repetitive one-liners
Note: This review refers to the PlayStation2 version of this game.

An Excellent Game: SpidermanGraphics: 9
The graphics are beautiful - prerendered bliss. The outdoor levels are superb. It's amazing to watch the sun reflect off of a scyscraper while web-swinging through the air. I wasn't as inmpressed with the indoor levels, but they were sufficient.
Voice Acting: 8
It was nice to hear the actors from the film do voiceovers. Although I enjoyed the trademark Peter Parker sarcasm, he sounded completely disinterested at times. William Dafoe (I hope I didn't butcher his name) was a different story. He sounded genuinely evil!
Storyline: 8.5
The storyline stuck to the movie's plot enough so that that those of you don't follow Spiderman understood the plot. But it had an original tinge to it, adding many surprises and including characters such as: Shocker, Kraven the Hunter, Scorpion, forget the others, and of course, the Green Goblin. The levels were bridged with short movies that explained what was going in detail.
Gameplay: 10+
Ahh, this was the section I was waiting for... Even if everything else about the game was terrible, the gameplay is only surpassed by perhaps Halo. The satisfaction I get from grabbing on to the Green Goblin's hovercraft in midair and reapeatedly punching him makes me tingle. Memorizing and trying to unlock new attack combos is excellent. The variety of fighting styles is mind boggling. The levels get proggressively more difficult, but they're always manageable with a little use of that gray matter poppin' out of your head.
Replayibility: 6
I enjoy exploring the specials and trying new cheats, but the replay value isn't that great. The designers could've included difficulty levels or something. But oh well (sigh)...
Multiplayer: 1
There is no multiplayer! The only reason I gave it a 1 is that you can take turns on the missions with your friends.
Party on! Buy Spiderman!
One of the Best Superhero GamesThe game is supposedly loosely based on the movie, although they've thrown a few wrinkles in, like adding supervillains Shocker, Vulture, Kraven the Hunter, and Scorpion, in addition to the Green Goblin. Tobey Maguire is the voice of Spider-Man and Willem Dafoe is the Green Goblin, with Bruce Campbell voicing the "tour guide", who explains how things work in the game.
The gameplay is very well done. Spider-Man moves just like he does in the movie previews. Fights are well done, especially the boss battles, which are unpredictable and difficult, but not impossible. The control scheme, even the "enhanced" version, is easy to master and use. The only problem is that, occasionally, when you're crawling on a wall, Spider-Man won't go the way you want him to. Also, you constantly have to readjust the camera so that you can see what you're doing. The one other complaint is that certain "stealth" missions are almost impossible to stay stealthy in.
The game is absolutely stunning to look at, especially the outdoor areas. The cityscapes are huge and highly detailed. You can't tell the difference between foreground and background. The enemy characters are also highly detailed and look as real as the main characters. There is also no hint of slowdown at all.
The music in the game is also excellent. I'm not sure, but I think it comes straight from the movie. Most of the voice acting is top-notch, especially Dafoe's Green Goblin. Unfortunately, the exception is Maguire as Spider-Man. He's extremely low-key and at times seems like he's disinterested completely. Making up for that is some snappy writing, especially the trademark Peter Parker sarcasm.
Overall, the game is exceptionally well done. There are little problems that only slightly lessen the experience. The bonuses they included also make this a worthwhile investment. I'd recommend to any Spider-Fan or action game fan.

You play as Jimmy Patterson, the toughest soldier in the U.S. Army, you shoot, bomb, and snipe your way through six missions with several levels through WW2 scenarios like D-Day and Operation Market Garden while completing objectives like blowing up tanks and infiltrating Nazi-filled parties undercover. To the unpacient, it may get old after a little while, but if not, there's plenty of shooting to please hardcore FPS fans.
Graphics-4 out of 5: not the Xbox's, but good anyway. Though the characters sometimes look a bit polygonal, the grimy war landscapes look great, which add to the realism of the game.
Sound-5 out of 5: this is the game's best aspect. Weapon effects taken directly from their real life counterparts, a dramatic music score, and good voice overs perfectly recreate the eerie sounds you would hear in a WW2 battlefield.
Control-4 out of 5: everyone knows that the Xbox controller is perfect for FPSs (the Controller-S, that is), and this game isn't the exception, though accesing your arsenal is a bit clumsy with the black and white buttons. For those who think Halo's controls are the best, there's even a Halo-esque configuration in case you've gotten used to it.
Fun-4 out of 5: even with it's AI and graphics issues, Medal of Honor is certainly a good FPS for action fans and even casual gamers, and it's also the only game that perfectly duplicates the WW2 atmosphere with flawless precision; definetely don't miss it.

The actual game presentation and graphics are very good. Ballparks from major league cities and spring training facilities are all top-notch. Boston's Green Monster, San Francisco's cove, Philadelphia new PNC Park are just a few examples of a devotion to "get it right." The character animations are fluid and detailed. Pitching, base running, and fielding are easy to pick up and the controls make sense. It'll take a few games to get used to the batting, though. But after you get the hang of it, you'll be hitting homers before you know it.
As for options, MLB 2004 has numerous ways you can enjoy this gem. There is the exhibition mode where you pick two teams and get after it. Rosters are accurate and attributes appear to be very fair. Season play offers varying lengths of schedules, from 14 to 162 games.
Overall, EA Sports recreates all that is good about baseball and packages it in MVP 2004. The game just has the "feel" of being well-balanced and complete. I hope this game is a sign of things to come from EA's sophomore series. --Andrew S. Bub
Pros:
- Great fielding and batting models
- Good physics and presentation
- Boring commentary

A good baseball gameThe gameplay of MVP 2004 is based on the previous title MVP 2003 with some obvious improvements like big play control, and different types of slides you can choose for your runners. The graphic is a little bit better than last year. The commentary in the game is the same old stuff. I have always loved the music in this series. And of course, the new improved dynasty mode and complete AA and AAA seasons are just make this game more fun to play.
There are still many little things may bother you here and there in this game. First, you will find it is extremely difficult to get a walk (In rookie and pro level, the computer controled pitchers will just throw strike 85% of the time, and in All-Star and MVP level, they will fool you easily with the fast movement of the balls.) The player creating system is still weak. You only have few options to edit your new player's appearance. I hope they can learn it from Tiger Wood's PGA tour series. The hitting is now very difficult to master in All-Star and MVP level. The right analog stick is playing a much more important role in the hitting. On the other hand, the pitching is still a little bit boring.
Overall, this game presents much more challenges than last year, and you will easily find yourself spend some quality time on it during your leisure time. I don't know if this is the best baseball game for this year. But one sure thing is this is not a bad game!
Best baseball game everThe realism is incredible. I got hit by a pitch. On the screen it flashes "To charge mound, press triangle." I charged the mound and the benches cleared and several players got ejected. If that happens in Dynasty Mode your players might get suspended.
Dynasty mode is great. There is every single AA and AAA team and you can play their games. There are rainouts (which result in doubleheaders later in the season),suspensions etc. You even have an "email" system where the players, staff and media send you messages. Players might email you complaining about their contract or playing time. The Front Office might email you that you're about to lose your job. The media emails you about injury updates, trades and more.
This game is great!

MechWarrior 4 casts you as Ian Drusari, the nephew of a powerful duke, who returns to his home world from the Clan Wars to find it occupied by a rival noble family: House Steiner. You must launch a civil war and reclaim your birthright as you command a ragtag army of awesomely armed, 40-foot-tall, 80- ton, 90-mile-per-hour BattleMechs across the remote battlefields of your hostile world.
Not a bad tale to tell and Microsoft made sure the telling would play as well as it looks. The graphics are flat-out amazing. Lighting effects, smoke trails, smoldering Mech armor, laser discharges, and missiles all look incredible. You can fight in deserts, arctic regions, forests, and even on the moon: all look sci-fi-movie perfect. Mechs have more animations than ever before as well. They stomp across the battlefield and reel from weapons fire convincingly, and when the cannon fire finally punches through their armor, they light up like Christmas trees. Thermonuclear Christmas trees, that is.
The Mechs are faster than in previous games yet you still feel like you're piloting a lumbering, walking tank--this is a Mech combat simulator, not Quake III in power armor. The controls have been simplified, but this is a good thing. It used to take a long time to learn how to pilot 100 tons of armored death, but now the controls are much more intuitive. No longer will players have to cycle through weapons lists; now, each weapons group is controlled by its own button on the joystick. We recommend Microsoft's Sidewinder joystick, as the game's controls were written with that stick in mind.
The enemy Mechs in the single-player game play well. Both your allies and the enemy use their Mechs' capabilities wisely and provide a challenge throughout the game's long and entertaining campaign. Multiplayer is offered via Microsoft's easy-to-use Gaming Zone and there is also an Instant Action mode that'll keep you playing long after the campaign is over. MechWarrior is back and looming large over the gaming scene. --Bob Andrews
Pros:
- Immersing techno-feudal storyline
- Excellent balance between simulation and action
- Challenging, yet easy to learn.
- High system requirements
- Sometimes cheesy voice acting

Fantastic - Awesome Tactical Depth!Couple that with beautiful, smooth, realistic graphics and extraordinarily accurate physics, and what do you get? Ladies and gentlemen- I give you *du du daaaah* MechWarrior 4: Vengeance. This game really deserves the 5-star rating I've given it. Kudos to Microsoft for making such a deep and engrosing tactical simulation.
Ryoken.
Heck Yeah...Read on!!!
this came ROCKS!The weapons totally rock. There's long range missiles, long tom artillery, lasers, LBX's,(which are like a series of shells), gauss rifles, ppc's, (my favorite beam weapons), which are lightning bolts that make your screen all wobbly and shaky when you get hit by them, and lots of others. one of the best primary weapons is when you combine clan machine guns and pulse lasers into one weapon.
some weapons, like the NARC beacon, flare, autocannon, flamer, and short range missile, kind of stink
well, anyway, all this to say........Mech Warrior 4 ROCKS!!!

This game indeed borrows heavily on GTA and is not at all like the previous spiderman game. What I LOVE about this game is the incredible degree of control of spiderman as you move him through his environment. Being able to access the ground of the city ala GTA is a definite plus helping to further bring you into the comic book world of spiderman. I also find the graphics of the city at night to look amazing although the overall in-game graphics are grainy and poor similar to GTA. And the recreation of NYC overall is quite an accomplishment.
What I dislike about the game includes the combat which I felt was a strength of the previous game. Instead of the fluid movement of its predecessor this one has choppy, awkward moves complete with a monotonous single slapping sound that is the same for each hit. The combat looks and feels like it was developed by the producers of the campy 1960s Batman TV series and plays like 'Batman Dark Tomorrow'.
Yet worse than the combat are the repetitive, uninspired missions and challenges. This first time you a) rescue a guy about to fall from a ledge, b) retrieve a childs balloon, c) foil an armored car robbery, d) get lured into a gang ambush by a pedestrian calling for help it's all good. However, these scenarios occur endlessly and quickly get old and unenjoyable. Then there are the challenges which basically are like taking the training from the previous game and forcing you to complete them during regular gameplay... but these are worse. Finally, the voice acting is awful and within half an hour I was already sick of hearing the same lame lines over and over.
Bottom-line is its all about the web swinging. Not sure I'd shell out the cash to buy this one if I had the choice again but would definitely at least rent it.
