Being A Hero Ain't Easy...
A funny thing happened on the way to the Crack of Doom in my quest to rid Middle-Earth of the One Ring once and for all: I died. Over and over and over again, I perished, crushing the hopes and dreams of all the good people across the land and sending it permanently into the evil clutches of Sauron and his minions. Indeed, Return of the King is tough...mad, crazy, cramp-inducing tough at that. Being a hero ain't easy, in fact I'd argue that the high degree of difficulty is one of the few problems with this otherwise brilliant game. Despite the high degree of difficulty, though, it still may be the best movie license game ever made.

Just as in last year's Two Towers, ROTK is a combo-oriented action-RPG where kills lead to experience and thus to new combos. Everything is bigger and better this time around. Graphics and animation are improved, two-player co-op play's been added, there are (somehow) even more enemies thrown at you, and there are even more player characters, too.

You'll take one of three paths: the Aragorn/Gimli/Legolas road, the Gandalf quest, or the Sam/Frodo trail. All lead to the same finale, but they add welcome variety to the combat, as each character plays differently and if your hands aren't completely torn up you can play through again choosing different paths to end.

Events in the story pick up right where the Two Towers game left off, but take you all the way to the end of the tale. Still, you're only looking at around a dozen hours of gameplay, and a larger-than-desired portion of those will come from replaying the seemingly impossible tasks.

The camera is again an Achilles heel and will often put you in a precarious position, but for the most part there's a lot to love here: nice graphics, Oscar-winning music, missions that pit you against hundreds of enemies at a time, destructive environments, and nicely integrated clips from one of the best movies ever. Just remember to notch the difficulty level down for maximum enjoyment.

Greatness, but no perfection.
Gameplay and fighting are exemplary. But the minimal flaw in graphics and realism take away that last star. Firstly, this game is not as similar to the movie as you may have heard. Much of the game should have taken place in the Two Towers game. Frodo and Sam actually have to kill many Orcs and vilians which definately crosses the line of unrealism. You may also buy different arrows and deadly combos, you can set enemies on fire, set them frozen, and shock them. There is also an added feature of Cooperative play, where you can play story mode with a friend (split screen). You can only do this if you beat the regular story game. This game is worth renting if you are a hardcore gamer, because you may be able to beat the game in less than 5 days. (...)

Consistent, fully realized game design elevates Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny into an elite category. Where other games are weak in one or more key areas, this game provides ample plot, character, action, and visual fodder in equal amounts. Unlike so many other titles--where preview and promotion photos feature quick cinematics and the rest of the game seems made in the early 1990s--Onimushadoesn't disappoint and stays consistently rich throughout.

Right away, players will notice the fine details this game offers. Any character you approach, even an inconspicuous mine worker, will stop to chat with you. But your comrades in arms won't accept just any offering in exchange for assisting you: in a nod to the Japanese tradition of thoughtful gift-giving, you must find and offer items that fit their interests. Don't go offering an antique brooch to someone looking for imported "spirits." Unless you have vodka or wine to offer him, he will get downright sullen.

As for the gore rating for Onimusha, it depends on your previous game-playing history. It will be considered mild by FPS fans, since the enemies and their flying body parts emit "only" a small amount of blood before disappearing in a puff of dust. For those same serious gamers, the controls will be a nuisance--for instance, you use the direction buttons instead of the left analog for running around. Another drawback: as with most highly controlled game environments, the forced perspective can cause columns and building sections to get in your way during crucial fight scenes. But those comfortable with these minor faults will be amply rewarded by movie-style quick scene edits, inventive ideas from the last edition (in particular, chests guarded by puzzles), and that addictive "fight, collect things, fight, upgrade to really cool things" dynamic that makes so many games great. --Jennifer Hauseman

    Pros:

    • Superior cinematic imagery
    • Compelling characters
    • Understated, clever dialogue
    • Special attacks like ogre mode

    Cons:

    • Difficult controls
    • Too little character info in the interface
    Average review score:

The best elements of the first with some cool additions...
This game captures the same look/feel of the first Onimusha title, but has some welcome additions in the form of better character interactions, item trading, and additional playable characters at different points in the game. The cinematics are the best I've seen to date for the PS2, and the pre-rendered backgrounds are also top-notch - easily on par or better than any title on the much more powerful Xbox system (which, again, points to the dedication programmers have for maximizing the potential of the workhorse PS2). The controls can be a bit frustrating and leave you feeling limited, and the price you pay for gorgeous pre-rendered environments is a lack of camera control, leaving you at the whims of the programmers to decide which angle you will be viewing the action from. The developers did a good job keeping things as unawkward as possible considering the points of view are fixed. On a more negative note - the voice acting in this game is not anything to write home about, and in some cases just plain bad (to the point of making you mute the voices and read the subtitles only).

If you enjoyed the first game in the series, I would highly recommend this title.

    Didn't see this coming
To start off, let it be known that I've never played the first Onimusha. That said, I'm actually shocked at how much fun I'm having. I never tire of fighting and I can deal with the puzzles. Sometimes the puzzles are too easy{but hey, at least they don't do it dirty and make it so its impossible without a strategy guide} You can level up your weapons and armor, which aside from greater power will also alter their appearance. YES !
{Perhaps that was possible on the first, I wouldn't know} Also, when you buy a friend weapons or armor you actually get to see them using or wearing it later in the game. I must however point out the flaws now. The camera angles{ I'm sure you already knew that} As well as the control. Personally I'm not a fan of the {Resident Evil} type controls. I'd much rather it control like {Devil May Cry}. All in all I can't seem to put it down. I am progressing through it quite quickly though. Considering I don't usually play survival horrors, those who do will beat it very fast. Though the replay value is pretty high, do to the character interaction.

    Jubei Lives in Onimusha.....
This is the 1st Onimusha that I really play and finished. I love it so much.... The weapons, gameplay, plot and so much more.... But most of all is the entire onimusha settings, fighting demon enemies.... locations, cut scene, characters involved, simply breath taking... I have not enjoyed a great like onimusha for such a long time... I will continue to embrace it. Highly recommended....

Through Jango Fett--father of Boba Fett--players will plunge into the dark, deadly world of a bounty hunter. Inspired by events between Episode I and Episode II, Star Wars: Bounty Hunter presents an original, compelling, third-person action experience that establishes Jango Fett's place in the Star Wars galaxy and his connection to the notorious Clone Army. The game draws players into Jango Fett's sinister and seedy world, where thieves and assassins thrive. Using his cunning and a host of deadly skills, Jango Fett ventures into the rarely explored dark side of the Star Wars universe to track down the elusive leader of a mysterious and deadly cult. All the while, he'll compete against a brutal rival from his past in a quest to capture the ultimate bounty, dead or alive.

Gameplay emphasizes intense combat and physical action in the relentless pursuit of prey across six fantastic worlds and 18 levels. Jango Fett faces off against an onslaught of the worst scum in the universe, including crime lords, corrupt politicians, and enemies of various species. He is equipped with an arsenal of powerful weapons such as dual blaster pistols, a flamethrower, missiles, and a distinctive jet pack.

      Average review score:

Bounty Hunter is for Star Wars fans only......
At first glance, Bounty Hunter looks like a really awesome game with excellent graphics. But it is much more complex than that. Bounty Hunter is more of a "mixed bag" with some good things and some bad things.

The story is this: You play as Jango Fett, 20 or so years BEFORE the Clone Wars. The whole story sort of revolves around Count Dooku trying to get you to be the 'host' for a cloning project on Kamino. While the levels don't relate to this directly, they do involve going after an archenemy of yours named Montross. The story does show the evolution of Jango and Zam's partnership, and even shows how Jango gets the Slave 1! Basically you blast your way through level after level with an assortment of weapons ranging from blaster guns to flamethrowers. One cool addition is the jetpack which allows for increased movement throughout the level.

The game has nice menus and starts you off with a nice movie hat leads into the first level. The graphics are nice in the movie but look a little bit plain. The graphics in the game are pretty good though, although this varies from level to level. Sometimes the camera will shake around if you get into a REALLY tight corner. But other than that things look real for the most part.

The sound is great if nothing new; it consists of the same old blaster sounds from the Star Wars movies. But the voices are spectacular. Jango's voice has been recorded by actor Temuera Morrison himself, as well as the voice of Zam Wesell by none other than Leeanna Walsman. Although Count Dooku and Darth Sidious's voice leave something to be desired, the rest seem appropriate for their characters.

Throughout the game you basically just shoot at whatever shoots at you, and climb over, jetpack over, or jump over any obstacles that get in your way. Occasionally the game requires some thinking, but overall it is fun. And if you get bored completing the levels, you can go off in search of bounties. While sometimes fun, it is often very frustating. To find a bounty, you must scan them with your ID scanner. But this requires you to holster your weapons. So while aiming at a person with your scanner to see if they have a bounty on them, you can get shot. It becomes particularly frustating when your bounty is surrounded by thugs or when it is shooting at you. This is one of the major downsides of the game.

The other downside are the levels themselves. With only 3 levels on Coruscant and 3 levels on Tatooine, you wish there were more of them as they are classic Star Wars locations. The levels themselves are big, which is a good thing in the beginning, but really hurts replayability. The game gets VERY hard as you progress, and after spending 45 minutes on one level only to die with the end in sight, you don't even want to try it again. They also aren't designed with multiple passages and ledges, so you can't really explore all over the place.

Overall the game is an average game, but definitely not one of Lucasarts best. I don't see why they don't just make a third-person game based on the original Star Wars movies....

      Undoubtly, The BEST GAME EVER!
Star Wars: Bounty Hunter, is without a doubt, th8e best action\adventure game ever, easy rivaling HALO and Zelda: Ocarina of Time. YOu take on the role of Jango Fett in his mission to find the leader on a secret cult...Dead or a Alive. You access to a huge arsenal of weapons, including toxic darts, flamethrowers, sniper rifles, and my favorite, dual blaster psitols. You also have unlimited access to Jango's jet pack. What could be cooler than see that there are guys shooting at you from another building and rocket up and forward and blast them with your pistols from the air? The graphics are simply incrediable. The game pushes Gamecube's proccessor to the limit(imagine that!). Pre order this now. To all X-Box owners, IN YOUR FACE!!!

A New Twist on Star Wars
This is a simply amazing game. The graphics are awesome, and the voice overs are great too. In nearly all of the star wars games for any platform, you're a jedi, facing wookies with blasters, and cutting thru them like a warm knife thru butter. This game presents a challenge, not to mention that Jango Fett is awesome beyond imaginable. You face enemies that arent easy to kill and you do so with graphics that are unpresidented for a star wars game. The story line is good and easy to follow and Jangos wit is definitly cool. I would recomend this to any gamer who likes star wars, and a decsent challenge.

Hitman 2: Silent Assassin is the sequel to the popular Hitman: Codename 47. Once again, you enter the mind of the Hitman, a for-hire assassin trying to escape a violent past. Eventually, you are lured back into your trade by a twisted Russian crime boss bent on assisting rogue countries for his own personal and financial gain. You soon realize that you are caught in the middle of a ring of deception, and discover that you have become a target yourself, of a highly trained ex-Spetsnaz assassin. Utilize stealth, tact, and survival instincts to complete your missions.

Save your money, just rent it
Hitman 2 is an okay game. That sums it up. The innovation is OK, the controls are OK, the graphics are OK. It's just an average kind of game. A lot of people seem very hyped over the "thinking" aspect of the game. That is - you can't just go in shooting. That's partially true, although brute force remains very effective. (why else would you be armed with AK47's and submachine guns?)But stealthy games have been done before, and done better. In Hitman 2, it's usually pretty obvious what you need to do to accomplish a mission.
Don't get me wrong, it's still a good game. The enemy AI is pretty good - they know when you're in the wrong place wearing the wrong disguise. And for that matter, it's pretty cool to be able to change into any enemy's clothes to disguise yourself. So I encourage you to rent this game; it's fun for a while. But save your money. There'll be better games.

        Excellent Action Game
I am referring to the PC version in this review, where a mouse and keyboard are used for controlling the game.

I was floored by not only the great graphics, soundtrack and voice-acting in this game, but the execution by the developers in taking a great concept and making it incredibly immersive and enjoyable.

Two major improvements from the 1st edition of Hitman are the control scheme, and adding a limited number of in-game saves (7 per mission on normal difficulty). The controls I found to be very intuitive, easy to pick-up and it makes the game very accessible.

In addition to those things the load times are incredibly fast, and the cut scenes are excellent although the story itself could've been fleshed out some.

The highlight of the game comes in the number of ways you can approach most of the missions, disguising yourself, finding new ways to complete missions, and achieving the "Silent Assassin" rating, where you are given bonus weapons early in the game for earning it. This rating is earned by not firing more than one shot from your gun, not having "close encounters," and not killing anyone other than your intended target along the way, with some minor variances. This is done by making smart use of Chloroform and putting enemies and bystanders to sleep and dressing up in their clothes instead of killing them, if you choose. Many times you will have to drag their half naked bodies into seclusion so that others are not alarmed, without being spotted. Fortunately for 47 everyone wears his size!

The map is well done and let's you see where everyone in the vicinity is, where and how they patrol, which way they are facing, and where various waypoints are for you to pick up equipment, meet contacts etc..,

The suspense as you walk past suspicious guards, time hits, and sneak up on unsuspecting subjects is very satisfying and entertaining, I have not experienced that kind of suspense and sense of accomplishment in any other video game to date.

There are some minor problems not really worth mentioning as the game is very polished, and they do not affect the game much, if at all.

There are so many memorable moments in this game and it is one I will cherish and play over and over again for a long time, until I achieve the Silent Assassin rating on every level (only a few that I have not).

I highly recommend Hitman 2 to anyone who enjoys a good action game or movie. Definitely one of the best video games to come down the pike in years.

        Excellent game
A lot of people tend to compare Hitman 2 to Splinter Cell, but the two really have very little in common. Although Splinter Cell is a very good game, I would say that Hitman 2 is actually more enjoyable. This is probably because Hitman 2 offers a greater degree of freedom; you're given a target and a couple of guns at the start of each mission, but how you complete it is entirely your own decision. You could go in with guns blazing or play the entire mission without killing anyone but the target, all of which greatly increases the game's replayability. The graphics are also beautiful, with some of the best textures and water effects I've ever seen in an Xbox game. On the negative side, the story is a little recycled (save the world from a terrorist with a nuclear weapon AGAIN) and a couple of the missions are almost ridiculously hard due to poor AI (as in overly paranoid guards or disguises that don't work no matter what). These are just minor flaws, however... At twenty bucks for a Platinum Hits edition of the game, it's a steal.

WHAT WERE YOU THINKING NINTENDO???!!!!and what if you could play with META NIGHT?!!I'drather play with kirby.the dudes no better than his puffball pals!!
There are three modes in the game Air ride,Top ride and city trial(probably the best)Its where you get to roam a city and power up your star and duke it out in a random stadium match.the wide variaty of stars is another good reason to get the game.(warpstar compactstar swervestar bulkstar rocketstar wingedstar shadow star slickstar formulastar turbostar Jetstar wagonstar Flightwarpstar wheeliebike wheelie scooter and last but not least rexwheelie)and the legendary dragoon'n hydra.I would only recommend the game If you've got afew pals at home, and to all those loyal kirby fans out there.

Nintendo dominates racing with first F-Zero GX now this.
Kirby Air Ride is probably the best racing game there is.The only other racing game that even compares to it is F-Zero GX. The graphics rock and the music is so good I am trying to memorize the tunes. The best part is that there is only one button for the controls. At first I thought this would be annoying, but with just one button even the least skilled gamers can start dominating the competition. The game has 3 modes to play: Air Ride, Top Ride and City Trial. Each with over a hundred things to do. In Air Ride mode you race in awesome courses and unlock cool stars.

Here is a list of them:

Warp Star: first avalible star. Well balanced. Not bad or great at anything.

Shadow Star: strong and powerful. Fairly high top speed and 2nd best (out of all the standard stars) at gliding.

Turbo Star: fast and cool. Great to use once you have mastered its control system.

Winged Star: as you can guess,it can fly really good. Some what poor turning though.

Slick Star: well....slick. Hard to turn with.

Formula Star: highest top speed! Fast on ground but not in air.

Rocket Star: normally slow but has the best boost.

Swerve Star: can only turn when charging. However when fully charged, zoooooooooooom!

Jet Star: just try making this think hit one of the jumps along a course. Otherwise, it has a slow top speed.

Wagon Star: whatever the right word to describe this vehicle is, it isn't star.Well balanced but can't boost. Poor gliding.

Bulk Star: it looks as if it came out of the garbage. Need to charge up before using. High top speed and good defence.

Yup, that is a lot of stars. Plus if that wasn't enough, you can also unlock the 3 Air Ride Motor bikes. And if that was still not enough to satisfy your thirst you can also unlock Meta Knight, King DeDeDe and a brown Kirby. If you are really good at unlocking stars you can unlock the 2 legendary stars Dragoon and Hydra. But just what are legendary stars? Well you will just have to play and find out. When you are tired of Air Ride mode you can try Top Ride mode which is classic 2D racing from a bird's eye view. Top Ride Mode has only two stars to choose from, but you will be to busy picking up power-ups and blasting opponents to notice what star you chose. In City Trial you roam around a city building up a powerful star. At the end of the time limit a random minigame will be chosen. Then all the players compete in that game. City Trial is a good way to try out different stars. There are also some stars you can only play with in City Trial mode like the Flight Warpstar and the Compact Star. Did I mention on top of all this Kirby can use copy abilities to help him in races(Duh). My favorite so far is Wheel Kirby.Beware though, this game has no story line. Overall if your looking for a good multiy player racing game look no farther than Kirby Air Ride. If you want a racing game with a story line get F-Zero.

        Great game for younger kids!
I bought this game for my kids (who are 4 and 7) to have something to play together during the summer. They absolutely love it. They have been playing it for several weeks now, and are still not tired of it yet. They keep discovering new things about the game the more they play it (i.e. the longer you play the more tracks and events you un-lock!) I consider this a very good investment.

Based on the same elements that made the movie so enjoyable--fear, suspense, and the possibility that your teammate might be infected--The Thing lets players slowly creep into the action with the help of several nonplayer characters (NPCs), whom you control and use to protect and aid you and your group. Using a core team of engineers, medics, and soldiers, players must manage and control their level of trust in, and fear of, you. They react to your actions, and might betray you if they think you might be the Thing. Conversely, you must constantly monitor which one of them might be infected and dispose of that person. Other characters must trust you, but if they fear you, actions as drastic as coercion might be necessary. For example, if a soldier doesn't have confidence in you, you may have to put your gun to his head to convince him you're not the Thing. For his sake, he'd better believe.

They need to call a do-over
          Man, I'll just categorize here...

          The good:
          - If you are a fan of the movie, you will find yourself saying "Awesome!" a few times during the game. It really follows the mood of the movie. It just has this "cool" feel to it that I haven't experienced in other games before. It is dark, cold, and lonely just like the movie. Atmosphere gets 5 stars.
          - It is really disgusting, disturbing, and sometimes spooky. The gore fits right in with the story. Most disgusting game ever. This is a good thing...? YES!!!
          - Good weapon selection, freaky looking monsters. Exciting firefights.
          - Many people complained about changing weapons and equipment, but I liked the system a lot.

          The bad:
          - The social features of this game were heavily advertised. They are garbage. Your "companions" cannot truly be blood tested. They just turn into things when you pass certain points in the game. Everything is predetermined, and your friends are not with you for long. You can test some guy and he comes up negative - then you walk 5 feet, while looking at him the whole time, and he suddenly turns into a thing. Dumb. Real dumb.
          - One of the last couple of levels is too long. There is no save location for like 30 or 40 minutes of gameplay. And it is a pretty hard level. Its like they just missed it or something. Or they just want you to try 15 times and get bored and frustrated out of your mind, I could be wrong...
          - The boss encounters are ridiculous. If you stand toe to toe with a boss, you will get creamed. There is no creative way to go about killing a boss. So you have to conduct a trial and error glitch search. Never fear, you will find a glitch for each one. "Oh, if I stand here, he can't see me, even though I am in the middle of his field of view!" Dumb. It just seems stupid that you have to depend on glitches to complete the game.
          - Not enough health packs. You have to go back and do levels perfectly if you want to make it further. You can kill a boss and still have to continue on into more danger, with no reward of a save location or health packs.
          - Too short, too hard. Should have been longer and easier. Video games are for fun, sometimes programmers forget these things.

All in all, I had fun, the atmosphere was the best ever for a video game (I LOVE this movie), but found myself saying "That is retarded" way too many times. The #1 advertising pitch (social interaction with NPCs, and wondering if they are things)was a joke. DO-OVER!!! This game could be the best ever if they spent some time on it.

          Didn't live up to potential
This game could have easily been as good as any Resident Evil, but didn't make it. Those who have made this game didn't understand what makes Resident Evil ... Resident Evil. It is too bad, since I like John Carpenter's The Thing.

The graphics are like most PC games, not that great. Character faces are just graphics stretched over a flat round circle, very common in PC games. From some angles they look ok. The graphics are otherwise good and are not the main misfortune of the game. I tend to prefer 3D stills whenever possible, because 3D engine graphics common on the PC often give me a big headache after a lengthy play. Resident Evil: Outbreak is a graphics highlight because it seamlessly mixes 3D stills with 3D scrolling, in which the scrolling 3D isn't headache inducing one bit! The graphics of RE: Outbreak make PC games look two generations behind!

The biggest problem this game suffers from is gameplay. At times you feel you don't have enough ammunition and supplies. Another big problem is that only fire can be used on some enemies. This is nothing new as most of us had seen the movie, right? The flamethrower is very clumsy to use and monsters often move very fast. Blake often ends up burning himself to death with his own weapons. This is a real gameplay problem. This problem kept me from finishing the game, unfortunately.

A very promising game that only hits an average rating.

The Thing.... a great horror game.
First of, being a big horror movie fan, I must correct one of the reviews. Someone titled theirs "a horrific game from the creater of holloween & freddy." It's spelt "Halloween," and John Carpenter did not create Freddy, or have ANYTHING to do with him (Freddy from the Nightmare On Elm Street series).

Now, The Thing...a GREAT game. Everyone who likes shoot-em-up or alien games or anything like that will love this game. And fans of the movie will love the game even more. The weapons, the Things, the interaction will your squad...it's all just great. (for more details on the game, just read others reviews).MAJOR WORD OF ADVICE........... Personally, I don't think you should BUY this game. Don't get me wrong, the game is great...but very short too. I bought this game, not knowing that. I bought it, and 4 days later (playing a few hours each day) I beat it. This is a good game, but you may just wanna rent it rather than buy it. It will save you a lot of money this way.

          Not much player involvement.
The graphics, atmosphere, and overall look of this game is pretty good. The gameplay is lousy, and has no replay potential. Remember those old games like space invaders or Pac Man, where once you figured out the sequence you could play forever? Well, FSW is a lot like that. There really is no skill or manual dexterity required, and really not even many alternatives to how you accomplish the missions. You are not free to move everywhere on the map. You just get channeled down a certain route, and then shoot who pops up. Basically all you do is place your cursor on the enemy and tell your squad to shoot. It takes these guys one shot to hit someone 400 feet away up on a castle turret, and around the next bend they use 300 rounds to hit a target hiding behind a hot dog stand. There really is no use of tactics, you just try a different combination of shooting, grenades, smoke grenades and see which one the game is programmed to perceive as a success.

          Close but not perfect
Full Spectrum Warrior is the closest thing to a simulation of a real mid intensity urban battle that I have ever seen, but there a few annoying diffrences. First of all no smart soldiers would ever stay that close to each other. Thats just askin to catch a grenade. It would have been better if the teams had been able to spread out and engage the enemy like you really should. The thing that really annoyed me the most about the game is some of the dialog. Alot of it is really funny, but when you are fighting and getting shot at no one says some of that stuff. And no one says Hooah like that. I hate that

This is a very realistic game!
First things first, if you like run around and shoot with no regards to dying, DO NOT GET THIS GAME. I spent 8 months in Iraq from the beginning of the war with the 101st. I think this is as realistic as a game can get without confusing civilians on tactical warfighting. Its great to see a game come out that mimics they way the US Army light infantry fights! It does get repetitive I will admit, but guess what thats how the fighting force that protects this country trains.

Anyways if this game isn't exiting enough for you, throw 100 plus lbs of gear on, run around the room, and have your buddy shoot at you, actually that would make it a little more realistic.

To sum this up in order to win here you have to shoot, move, and communicate.

Nothing lends itself better to portable gaming than the arcade classics. They're addictive, replayable, and fun--plus it's nice not to have to pump endless streams of quarters into them. That's what makes Namco Museum such a must-have title for the Game Boy Advance system. People too young, or too impatient, to enjoy a good coin-op had better stop reading now.

Like the PlayStation and N64 versions, Namco has packed a few of its best games onto the cartridge. For the GBA we get only five titles (four are listed on the front of the box, but Galaxian is also included). We have two versions of Ms. Pac-Man (one that shows the whole maze but is dreadfully small, and another that scrolls), Galaga, Pole Position, and Dig Dug. They are lovingly ported, complete with all the music and sound effects intact. What we don't get is the amusing Museum portion and trivia found on other versions.

Ms. Pac-Man and Galaga are the real winners here. Both are perfect renditions complete with all the extras (music, colors, sound effects, and bonus stages/cartoons). The controls on these two are also perfect. Pole Position is amusing, but features twitchy controls and pales in comparison to other GBA racing games. Galaxian, on the surface, seems the same as its sequel, Galaga, but it isn't. The fire rate is much slower, so the pace of the game is different. Galaga is certainly better, but Galaxian is a nice addition regardless. Dig Dug is a classic, pure and simple, and it still plays well. It rounds out the collection nicely.

Arcade fans, especially those who used to line up (or line their quarters on the machine) to play these games, will be very pleased with Namco Museum. Those unimpressed with retro gaming probably won't be converted. However, here's hoping we see more arcade classics in the future, because I can't think of a better platform for these than the Game Boy Advance. --Andrew S. Bub

            Pros:

            • Perfect recreations of arcade classics
            • A nice, diverse slate of games
            • Nice of them to include two versions of Ms. Pac-Man
            Cons:
            • Pole Position isn't so hot anymore
            • No Museum features, such as trivia questions

Galga Fans: You'll Just Have to Keep Waiting
I bought this game so I could have my beloved Galaga in the "palm of my hand." I force fed quarters into many Galaga machines during my high school days and it was my favorite arcade game. I was good.

However, with this game, the screen is just too damn small! A good chunk of your playing area is taken up by the scoring display. My old eyes can't play this game at the higher levels as it moves too fast to keep up with the tiny display. I did buy the "new" version of Galaga that came out for GBC about two years ago and found it so easy to beat that I finished the whole game in about 20 minutes and never played it again. I was equally disappointed with 1942. Why they seem to make old games "easier" to play is a myster to me (found the same thing with Space Invaders).

If Nintendo or somebody ever came out with a Galaga of the original game for the GBA that increased the sizing portion of the play area, I'd buy it in a second.

Is That Galaga in Your Pocket...?
It's like having my own portable Aladdin's Castle! If you don't know what that is you're too young to truly enjoy this collection. This is a great game(s)! Ms. Pac-man, Dig-Dug, and most importantly GALAGA! If you used to shovel quarters into these games as a kid, you won't be disappointed with this cart. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that there really should have been more games on the cart. C'mon, you expect me to believe that the simple pixels that make up these games take up all that memory? I suspect this will not be the only "Museum" cart that Namco puts out...but I'll probably buy those as well. I was also surprised at how addictive these games still are. My wife tapped me on the shoulder last night and said, "Do you realize that you've been playing 'Galaga' for 2 hours straight?". Can't get enough of the classics!

            Great Game
I think that most of the people that have been saying that this is a hard game, just have been used to the large screen. They need to think about what a cartrisge game can do. they aren't going to be perfect, and I have grown up with them unperfect. Don't look too hard to find a game that doesn't have any flaws. The game play is good knowing that the games were originally made a while back, and don't expect to see any high grafics, since they were made around the early 90's and older. If you want the feel of the old Atari, this is a perfect selection of games from the classic line of Atari. Good grafics no, but the same great games, yes.

Look no further than Sega Sports’ NFL 2K3 if you're seeking a more than worthy alternative to the established Madden football franchise. The game’s superb graphics alone are enough to draw in any fan, but its in-depth gameplay realism and ESPN broadcast presentation easily rank this as the finest football game Sega has released to date.

Thanks to its smarter-than-average artificial intelligence, NFL 2K3 sports a somewhat steep learning curve that requires sound football simulation instincts. Knowing your team’s strengths and weaknesses will ultimately be a big help if you hope to win at the game’s advanced levels. Be prepared to mix up your play calling and make adjustments instead of thinking the same old reliable plays will get the job done. Of course, practice mode is always there if you need to work the kinks out of your game plan and master the multitude of offensive and defensive sets at your disposal.

Graphically, sports games don’t come much better looking than NFL 2K3. Among the highlights: player animations are amazingly realistic and lifelike, and a wide array of facial emotions appear that are relative to game scenarios; stadiums are painstakingly re-created to take on almost postcardlike feel; and replays access a wide variety of angles to put you right on the field or in the stands.

One area in which NFL 2K3 easily aces Madden is its game commentary. As part of the game’s ESPN broadcast presentation, announcers Dan Stevens and Peter O’Keefe call every bit of the action in varied detail. Their comments are far removed from stale Maddenisms, offering worthwhile play breakdowns, player assessments, and quips that don’t make you wince in disgust (at least not too often). Stevens and O’Keefe, along with the crowd, will let you hear about it when you bite it on the field. --Larry White

              Pros

              • Superb graphics in most areas
              • Commentators sound realistic and rarely repeat themselves
              • Challenging AI forces you to adapt your game plan

              Cons

              • Receivers can't be put in motion
              • Slow, lofting quality of the passes
              • No ability to challenge plays
              • Often unrealistic player animations
              Average review score:

              this game stinks
this is not worth 10.00 price the graphic stink and a waste of talent to be make
its a waste of time to play dont buy me instad bu madden 2004 better graphics this game sucks

NFL 2K3 the pros and the cons
first of all, let me say that the ESPN license is awesome. It bring the true to imagine of a company that lives and die for sports. The gameplay are awesome, especially the amination. It is one of the top noche that I have ever seen, and trust me, I seen it all. The sounds are great, much bette than Madden 2003, I know b/c I bought both games, and in my opinion I think that NFL 2k3 is way better than Madden 2003. The gameplay, and sounds are better than madden. Unlike Madde, 2k3 does not get to boring after you have payed it for two weeks or so. The learning curve for this gameis about threee to four weeks, and it never really boring, b/c the commentary never repeat itself again and again like maddendoes. But, after you play one season, then the game will get boring, as all games do. The players model are in depth and true to life, and is way better than madden.

But,as all games, NFL 2k3 does have it's flaws. First, the players lunge to far, it look like Nfl Blitz. Sometime the linebacker lunge about 5 to 6 yards to tackle a RB, and that is not realistic in the real NFL. They should only about two to maybe four yards only. Then the frames, the frames rate sometime seen to drop from 60 to 30, and it happen many time when there are 11 or more payers standing around all together. But, if you can live with that then go buy the game.

Final thought, 2k is way better than madden. Sorry madden fans, but 2k3 is better. madden 2003 doesn't is tohave much improvement from 2002. come to thin about it, all their series, all looks the same, no BIG improvements.

              Hard to find problems
The only thing I can fault about this game is the inability to challenge, but in the game I have never found a situation where the ref. is wrong. It's a great game, and the animations and graphics easily surpass those of Madden. A very good game especially for the price which is very cheap.

There's road rage, and then there's road rage Simpsons style! "D'oh!" Monty Burns is up to his greedy ways again. He's purchased Springfield's transit corporation and heinously jacked up the fares. Refusing to shell out for the new rates, the rage ensues. You'll take on commuters and jam-packed back routes, all in an effort to help buy back the corporation before time runs out.

More than 25 Simpsons characters climb behind the wheel or wander the streets begging for a ride. Careen through timesaving shortcuts and take on terrain including hills, mountains, and forests. Wreak havoc in five Springfield neighborhoods that include landmarks such as Moe's Bar and the nuclear power plant. Busy traffic and wayward pedestrians confound your rage. However, two-wheel leans, speed starts, power slides, and other cool car physics help you release that rage.

Multiple game modes let you go head-to-head in two-player split-screen action that challenges your opponent in a race for the next passenger, or you can steal his or her passenger midride! Complete up to 60 unique passenger deliveries in story mode, or take a leisurely Sunday drive through the fair Springfield. A bonus system lets you unlock cars and specific characters, while intuitive menus make this game easy to play. As Homer would say, "If it's hard to do, it's not worth doing!"

They Can Do Better Than This
I was so excited once I got The Simpsons: Road Rage. But once I started playing it, I was very dissapointed. The 3-D effects aren't very impressive, and this game is very repetitive. But if you're a true Simpsons fan, you will find the humor of The Simpsons in this game. The voices in this game match up to the voices on the show as well. But, like I said, this game is very repetitive and you will probably hear the same catchphrases over and over throughout the game.

This game is not very challenging either, and will probably take you no more than a month to finish. And when you do finish the game, let me tell you now, the ending is not that exciting.

A plus side to this game is that an exclusive character & vehicle comes along every holiday, which goes with the holiday. That feature is kind of cool. But, you could easily see all the characters by re-setting the calendar on your game console, and if you don't do this, you will only see the holiday character once a year.

This is an average game that is appropriate for the whole family, but it is not a must-buy. If I were you, I wouldn't rush out and buy this video game.

"Simpsons" fans should get this one
No, it's not entirely original, but if you're a fan of the long-running television series, you'll definitely enjoy"The Simpsons:Road Rage". The game is not too difficult for anyone and is often very amusing, with real voices from the show. Most of the major players are there, including Homer, Marge, Bart and Lisa, as well as Krusty The Clown, Ned Flanders, Professor Frink, Apu, and Grampa Simpson(who supplies the funniest dialogue in the game). The object is simple:You are to transport various characters to their desired destination before the clock runs out.As you accumulate cash, you can either unlock other characters, or different locations around Springfield. In the "Mission Mode" segment,a special car awaits Homer if he completes Mission 10(it's pretty odd looking, but fast). There's more to this game I have yet to see, but being a fan of the show from the beginning, I'm taking my time and enjoying the ride around Springfield. A fun game overall, a blast for Simpson-heads.

                Simpsons' Road Rage
Simpsons' Road Rage is a typical taxi car game. You first pick a player like Bart Simpson, Marge, Homer, Lisa, and etc. Then you pick up other people and drive them to their destination. That part's fun, then it gets worse. One flaw for this pretty good game is that the mission mode is unbelievabaly easy. I just picked up the controller and started mission mode and completed more than four levels! Another flaw for the Simpson's Road Rage is that the characters in this game look totally unreal and the heads look like bobbleheads. It just makes me want to punch the TV screen. Also, the mouths don't even match with the voices! Language in worse in the game than in the TV show, so don't get as a birthday present to a 5 year-old. Next time you meet them, they might just start saying "just shut up and drive." DO NOT GET IT FOR YOUNG CHILDREN! Still, this game is a little above average. Maybe you should rent the game before buying it.
