The Good Die Young
1080 Avalanche is like half a bowl of Frosted Flakes, GRRRRRREAT but not enough! Great graphics, great controls, great sounds, but what happened to this game's longevity factor? After playing for an hour, you get the feeling there's two characters to select from, and half as many stages to explore. You do the math.

The characters are well designed, but a serious lack there of makes that fact almost meaningless. The stages are superb, but once again, what good is a stage or two if there's only a stage or two? Nintendo distributed samples of 1080 in department stores for many months before this GameCube exclusive title was released, and from what I played, I found it a remarkable experience. When I purchased the game for $50 (many months ago), it was to my surprise the game wasn't worth half that. Today, 1080 Avalanche remains upwards of that price. To add injury to insult, the tricks could have been more polished. Other than that, the controls are excellent.

Nintendo can't expect massive sales from a game that's superior in all categories except endurance. The length of a game time and time again will prove to be its most vital element. That's all games, one player, two player, twelve players, sports games, role playing, and everything in between.

A low rating is given for a major reason. 1080 Avalanche is still half a hundred dollars since its release. A fair price would be $30, but even that's pushing it. Nintendo had a great game in the making, but mediocre stamina has left this title begging for sales. Chi-Ching!

great game, but not as good as the original
1080 snowboarding was the first game that i recieved for my nintendo 64 that i recieved for my 8th birthday. and still to this day, i play it every once in a while. that is how good the original was to me. and ever since i heard about 2 years ago that they were making a sequel to it, i have literally been marking off the days on my calender. now that i have 1080 avalanche, i am very pleased with what nintendo has created for me and my fellow gamers, but am a little dissapointed at the same time. i mean, its a great game, but there are some very annoying problems that bring the overall value of the game down. well heres how i break it down:

graphics: 10/10 some of the best graphics i've seen on the gamecube so far

sound: 9/10 very nice sounds for both the voices and environments

controls: 8/10 ugh. this is where my problem is. the regular boarding controls are fine, but the trick system is kinda iffy.

difficulty(too easy,easy,normal,challenging,impossible):

challenging

overall:8.75/10 not the awesome super-duper sequel i was looking for, but still a very good game that will keep me playing for a long while

better than the first one
the original 1080 snowboarding game is probly my favorite game on my 64. I got this game a few weeks ago and ive probly put 20 hours into this game a week. (im 13 and on vacation, not much to do) Well anyway the music kicks ass and the graphics are even better. When ur going real fast,(like 125kmh) the mix of the controler chaking, the partial blurring in the outline of the screen (dont get me wrong thats a GOOD thing), and the snow splatering on the screen, adds up to make one of the most thrilling game on gc. The trick made took a while to get used to. Im used to the 64 where its b+(control stick). In this game its (b, x, or y)+(control stick), and "r" to spin. But still, the trick system is great. This game has beginnner, advanced, expert, and extreme modes, each with an avalnache mode at the end. In the avalnche mode you have to race down the mountain, always with an Avalanche behind you, chasing you down the hill. The loading times are about 5-9 seconds. But it flies by becasue as its loading you select the song you want played during your ride down the mountain. Also there is about 15 courses.

In the end i would reccomend this game to anyone. If i lost it i would buy it again right away if my parents were more supportive of my video game hobby.

    Good graphics but otherwise disappointing
In spite of the quality graphics and the entertaining opening ("From Television City in Hollywood..."), this game is ultimately a disappointment for true die-hard fans of the original game show. For one thing, the signature theme music and Dick Clark are both missing. For another, in single-player and two-player modes, the clues given by the "celebrities" are frustratingly inadequate. Success in the original show depended on the players' ability to give clues that were both terse and cogent. In this PC version by Sierra, the "celebrities" speak much too slowly in the Basic Game and give clues that are wordy, redundant, and vague. In the Winner's Circle, the "celebrities" give clues that include rambling descriptions, which was never allowed in the original show, where clues had to be limited to mere lists of things that belonged to each category. I have yet to play the game in Party Play mode, where four people can actually play against each other instead of relying on the computer's ... "celebrities" for equally ... clues. For sheer nostalgia and good graphics, however, this PC version is probably worth the money.

    Celebrity Help!
For a lot of game shows that have came out for the computer, they've always seemed to have a little bit of a blind-slighted feel to most gamers. They always seem to fall just a dash flat for a full-feeling of being in the actual video game. Still, most of them are still willing to find that out one day at a time. With several revamped versions of game shows on P.C. like Jeopardy, Wheel Of Fortune, and other game shows, there is one that actually tries to stand out a little bit, Pyramid. With the success of Pyramid being revived with Donny Osmond, has been an unbelieveable exciting game, but the P.C. game still needs a little fine tuning.

The $100,000 Pyramid for the P.C. was released before Donny Osmond came on with the revival of Pyramid. The game features three different versions of Pyramid, Single Play, where you have to get a certain amount of points to get to the Winners' Circle, Double Play, where two people actually play the same way like it is on the game show. Still, it does fall a little bit, without proper speakers. The third version takes the cake however. The party play version, gives a little more of an interactive version that you play with other people, like you're actually on the Pyramid. For that one, you really need to see that, and play it with more than one version. If you get this game, get it for this version of gameplay only.

Still, it would be nice to see Pyramid updated with a newer version, based on the recent revival. I just really hope that happens soon. Still, you're better off playing the version from the television, whether Dick Clark, Bill Cullen, or Donny Osmond is the host. The $100,000 Pyramid is just a fraction of the fun it was suppose to be. Try getting this one used.

    "PYRAMID" Power!
One of TV's classic game shows, The PYRAMID is BACK!
Over the years game show fans played various "Pyramid" home games from different manufacturers like the original $10,000 Pyramid box game from Milton Bradley to the current box edition. There was even a PC edition (in DOS format). Now you can play "Pyramid" in several different ways (solo, 2 player & party mode) with this great new CD ROM edition! This game is a must for all PYRAMID fans and anyone who likes word games. And, just in time for the new television edition of $100,000 Pyramid (with Donny Osmond) coming back FALL 2002!

3 stars because of the Characters only
I rated this game on the Characters and story only. It was very good to look at and the actors playing the characters make it worth checking out, but I thought the camera and gameplaying aspects are horrible if you aren't an experienced gamer. There is some hints, but geez the crazy camera and hard to handle controls had me throwing this game down after about an hour.

Alias isn't that great... avoid if possible
When I rented (thank God) Alias, I was expecting a female-led good looking game. After all, Jennifer Garner is in it, lending her voice. I am not a big fan of the TV show, but I was most definitely expecting a good game involving espionage and guns. Sadly, I was very wrong.

Alias is not what it's cracked up to be. When I started playing this game, as Sydney Bristow in a beautifully detailed silver outfit and what looks very much like Jennifer Garner, I just ran around, looking at the bad camera angles. The gameplay, in my opinion, is very off. I wasn't expecting just a beat-em-up game, but at least a game with style. This isn't.

Don't get me wrong, it doesn't only have cons. The best part of this game and the only reason I gave it a whole extra star than it deserves is because of the great graphics. You feel like you're watching Jennifer Garner in real live action. It was awesome.

But the rest of the game were flaws. If you love the TV show, then rent it. But don't, under any circumstances, by this game.

Alias the Game satisfies me while I wait for new episodes
This game is like being immersed in an episode of the great Alias tv show. With the show in hiatus until the new season, this game really fills a need for all the excitement and fun of the show. I love the characters, the action, the graphics and thrill of being Sid! This game is a wonderful treat for a fan.

      Ash Goes Xbox
Lots of people said Evil Dead: Hail To The King sucked. As a hardcore Evil Dead fan, I love it. As a gamer, I think it's average. Yes, it was a little below our expectations. But now it's Evil Dead: A Fistful Of Boomstick, boys and girls, the Xbox version.
Let's start this review with a single question... Is the Xbox version better than the PS2 version? Yes, it is. Believe me, I completed the game in both consoles. Graphically, you can see a significant difference in some places. Obviously, this isn't any Panzer Dragoon Orta, graphically... But it does it job well, with nice scenaries and characters. There are some slowdowns here and there, but nothing big. Sound is better on Xbox too, it's clearer. The soundtrack in this game is simple, but also does its job to tell you when trouble (like... a deadite) is close and this kind of thing. The voice acting for the main character, Ash, was made by Bruce Campbell (for those who don't know him, he played the character in the movie trilogy, he's also the best actor in the world and wrote a wonderful book called "If Chins Could Kill", a book I highly recommend, but that's another story). Ash has lots of awesome quotes, hilarious ones, you'll see, I won't spoil your surprise. Playing the game feels great, no problem with the controls.
Well, the main game is great. Great levels at different centuries in the town of Dearborn, Michigan... But when you beat the game, is that it? Nope! There are some extras too, pal. For each level you beat, you unlock some Arcade Levels (you get scores from A to C for doing a certain task like "kill all the deadites" in a limited time... believe me, it's highly entertaining) and a Photo Gallery, plus there is a Bonus Video featuring Bruce Campbell and the crew who made this game. And, obviously, you can play the game again if, just like me, you enjoyed it. And, as you can see, the game is totally cheap.
Overall, if you like this kind of game (horror games with lots of blood, gore and violence), it's alteast worth a rent (c'mon, buy it now, it's cheap!), and if you're an Evil Dead fan, just grab your copy right now. If you can choose between the two versions (Xbox and PS2), choose the Xbox one. Being said all that, I hope you enjoy this game, just as I did. If you aren't convinced yet to buy this title for your Xbox (or PS2), there's nothing I can do, except pity you. Just another note: I highly recommend that you watch the whole movie trilogy, and, if possible, beat Hail To The King before playing this title... If you do it, you'll enjoy this game a thousand times more.

      groovy
the latest in the evil dead series is a good one. this new third person action title delievers much of the wit and humor that comes along with the evil dead series. you play ash, which is voiced by the one and only bruce campbell. the cinematics of the game are amazingly good and look excellent running on the xbox. the gameplay is pretty good but can get confusing when you have about 12 deadites on your screen. another great thing is when you do have 12 deadites on your screen and blood and severed limbs flying around, the game doesn't lag up or give you any problems. the weapons are pretty good, you start off with nothing, but it isn't long before you get yourself a shotgun and the classic chainsaw attachment. the graphics in game are decent. the best part is the fact that its a good evil dead game at a terrific price. makes you almost forget about the atrocity that was "evil dead: hail to the king".

      Pillow Talk
A Fistful of boomstick kept me playing until I beet the game. I love the fact that you have a button for Ash saying. Boomstick is a game that I have not gotten completely bored with and I do recomend it.

      BORING
allthough I don't like barbies, I tried a demo of it(my sister wants to see it) And all you do is keep running to catch horses and that's all

      A good game for girls
This game is a great game for young girls. I got it for my daughter on PS2. She's ten and loved it. The story is basic, you have to rescue missing baby horses, but there are hidden coins and presents that let you unlock new outfits for Barbie and customize her horse. A couple of the puzzles were a little challenging, but nothing she couldn't figure out. It was fun for her to jump things and race her friends. Probably my biggest complaint is that controlling the horse takes a little to get the hang of, but after some practice, it became no problem. I recommend this game for any little girl who loves horses like my daughter. She and her brother had fun challenging each other with the multiplayer, too. It's not violent or dark and scary, just a fun and engaging adventure.

At last an Excellent Game for Girls
Like many girls my daughter loves horses. She is also fortunate enough to enjoy riding them too. And yes, in her spare time on those wet days, she has a lot of fun playing this game. Some aspects of the game are quite challenging at first - but learning it is part of the fun. We've had it for a month now and she's still discovering new things.

If Mario and Sonic had a child, it would be called Billy
. A brilliant hybrid of Super Mario 64 and Sonic the Hedgehog, Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg is a game that no Gamecube should be without. The influences are obvious, yet this game stands on its own. You really have to play it to appreciate its greatness. The first thing players will notice is the lush graphics, full of color and life. The game is absolutely beautiful.

The game-play itself, while simple, offers up a really good time. The premise is simple. Your friends have been encapsulated in eggs, by a group of Evil, Black Crows...and it's up to you to save the day. Just how you go about doing this is where the adventure begins. In "Morning Land", the eggs themselves are your only means of defense. By rolling them over enemies, bounce jumping with them on top of foes, and by egg shooting (which resembles a yo-yo like approach), you clear the path for victory

As you roll them about the land, you must also constantly be on the lookout for the various fruits scattered about the land in which to feed your egg. By rolling over them, your egg's yolk level increases...until finally it's ready to hatch. Now a simple press of the "R" button makes Billy let out a war cry of sorts (well it's actually a rooster crow), which in turn hatches the mature egg. Once free of its shell, the newly freed animal is yours to call upon in battle. Each animal brings with it the power to harness four powerful forces.... fire, water, wind, and ice. Make no mistake about it though; this game is all real time action, with an RPG feel thrown in for good measure.

By the time you pry your hands of this game, you'll walk away feeling that you truly played something special. Sega and Nintendo really pulled it off with this title. It's quality for the whole family, and I just can't say enough good things about it. With the exception of its limited difficulty (skilled players will breeze through it), Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg really shines. Don't let the fun pass you by.

      "alankelly"

      great game all around!
Billy hatcher is a great game! The single player is fun and keeps you busy all the time. The objective is to bring morning back to morning land. You go around as this boy named billy hatcher and is asked to save morning land by the chicken sages. You accept and there you are saving morning land. There is about 7 places you have to bring morning back to each containing 5 objectives. The thing you use the most are....eggs! You use the eggs to kill enemies, jump and much more. Now enough about single player lets talk about the multiplayer. This is the BEST AND I MEAN THE BEST! Up to 4 players can compete in three exciting modes of play. Even though there's only 3 there still fun to even notice that you want more modes of play. There's hatch, time, and stock. In hatch the point is to hatch the most eggs that have animals in them. In time the hatcher has to try to kill the other hatchers and whoever gets the most kills wins. In stock its like kills only you have lives instead of getting kills. Billy Hatcher is a great game that deserves a try and far better. I hope billy hatcher is the greateast you ever play! Happy morning.

Billy Hatcher Review by the SegaHead
Ah, a new Sonic Team game. After a year in the multiplatform business, gaming mastermind Yuji Naka of Sonic the Hedgehog fame decides to create a new game. Since Sonic Adventure 2 Battle a year ago was a success, why not? So he made an original game after 7 years, and I must say, he did a fine job. Sonic Team fans who don't own it, slap yourselves; this one's for you! Here's the review

This game's got a dang freaky story. The evil Dark Raven has turned the Chicken Elders into eggs, so the chicken god Menie-Funie calls Billy Hatcher to bring morning to the land. To hatch the elders you are given a rooster suit. And there's the story.

The game play is unique- using that rooster suit of yours, you get an egg, roll it around. Find some enemies, and then use the egg to beat them up. They drop fruit, and that's how they hatch and stuff. Hatch them- you could get a monster or an item. These things can seriously help you out on Billy's quest.

Graphics are pretty nice. They support a cartoony feel for younger gamers, and the characters show comical expressions on their faces to light up the face of a little kid. It's a nice touch to such a great game.

Sound is neat- it has simple guitar tunes, and then some odd little jingles. It's not a butt-rock collection, just a kid-friendly soundtrack.

Extras are basically if you collect enough chick coins you can unlock Sonic Team character eggs, like Sonic, Nights, the works. And if you hatch the right eggs, you can unlock GBA downloadable mini-games.

The bottom line is that Sonic Team made a good game when the last original game they made was 7 years ago. I'm just glad it made me SOO happy to own. I recommend it to platformer fans or Sonic Team fans or just some gamer that needs an original game.

      Very GOOD
This game is great. The graphics could be better, although, not real bad. It is a lot like Grand Theft Auto on PS2, but the A.I. in this game are much smarter, more realistic, and challenging.

In this game, you're playing the story that your character has to tell to the detective. It's very interesting, great story line, and there are many different types of missions to go through. The game takes you through blowing up cars, a car chase, collecting protection money, and up to my point in the game, RACING! I honestly can't say if this game was worth the $50.00 or not. I think it'll depend on how the story broadens and what other missions the Don sends ya on. I think it's a very promising game though. It was slow at first, and the graphics kinda chased me away, but I gave it an honest chance, and it really is growing on me. Great game!

      A Mafia Masterpiece!
Mafia the GTA of the 1930's. Great deep story about a Mafia family. The Xbox version is alot more better than the PS2 version. The load times are very fast. It's fast like GTA3 & GTA Vice on Xbox. Graphics look 1,000 times better than PS2 version. Everything looks alot more cleaned up, and the details in everthing look a ton better. The levels are alot more clear than the PS2 version. When it's night time in the game you can see where your driving. In the PS2 version it was hard to see cause it was so dark. I haven't seen any draw distance so far. PS2 version had a big problem with that, where things would just pop up out of no where and you'd crash into something. Controls Works great with the Xbox Controller S. The game dosen't freeze either, the PS2 version froze alot for me. I think it was worth the wait, it's a whole lot better than the PS2 version. If your a fan of GTA, or Mafia action check out Mafia for xbox or PC.

Don't waste your time on the PS2 version.

      Great Game
This was a great game with a great story line. It had the freedom of Vice City and GTA III, but with a 1930's theme. Because you have to work your way up through the ranks of the mob, this game was challanging but not impossible. Overall this is a great game!

3.5 stars - BE WARNED - THIS IS THE NES VERSION
For many years, Mario has been one of the most famous and most loved video game characters out there - if not the most famous one of all. His games are among Nintendo's masterpieces. But it all began for Mario in Donkey Kong, a classic arcade game that made its way onto the NES, and now has been rereleased on the Game Boy Advance. How does the game measure up? Read on and find out.

      PROS:
-THIS WAS THE FIRST MARIO GAME EVER. It's doubtful that Shigeru Miyamoto knew just how successful his character would go onto be, but with this game, he changed the world of video gaming forever.
-THE CONCEPT IS SIMPLE, STRAIGHT TO THE POINT, AND EASY TO GRASP. Basically you guide Mario through vertical mazes in an attempt to rescue his girlfriend Pauline. Although simplistic, the game has a certain charm than many modern games lack - and you're likely to become addicted.
-THE GAME CAN GROW TO BE UNIVERSALLY ACCEPTED. The game isn't overly violent, so parents won't mind letting their kids play it, and likewise, the game is so addictive that even non-gamers are liable to gain an interest.

      CONS:
-THIS IS THE NES VERSION, NOT THE ARCADE VERSION! Why's this a problem? THIS VERSION OF THE GAME IS MISSING A LEVEL! Game Boy Advance games have more memory than their NES counterparts, so why didn't Nintendo bother to put in the missing level!?
-TWENTY DOLLARS (the launch price) FOR THIS GAME IS A RIP OFF! If you were buying an anthology of clasic NES games, this would be a good price, but it's just one game, so it's not. Why not just shell out the extra cash and get Mario Vs. Donkey Kong, the modern remake, instead? Or, what about Donkey Kong '94 for the original Game Boy? It had the missing level, and a ton more!
-ALTHOUGH A FUN GAME, IT CAN GET OLD FAST. This IS a fun game, but today's gamers aren't liable to get the same kick out of it that those of the classic days of gaming did.
-WHY'D THEY DO DONKEY KONG INSTEAD OF DONKEY KONG CLASSICS? DK Classics had this game and Donkey Kong Jr. on one cartridge - Rereleasing IT instead of just this would have been smarter.

      OVERALL:
Overall, there's no denying that this game is a classic, but it's NOT worth the price that Nintendo is asking for it. Still, if you've got money to burn and a soft spot in your heart for arcade classics, consider picking it up.

Simple... but it's Supposed to Be!
Some people have commented that this was the worst game they ever played, and "since when is Mario called Jump Man?" Well, if you're old enough to remember this game's original release, then you remember that the human character's name in Donkey Kong was Jump Man. At this early stage in video game history, he wasn't named "Mario" yet. I'm not sure if "Jump Man" became "Mario" in Donkey Kong Jr. or if it was Mario Bros. Nobody lied to you or ripped you off -- you simply didn't know the history of the game.

All of the "Classic NES Series" games for the GBA (characterized by the red stripe across the top of the box front) are exact replicas of these games, as they were originally released on the NES. There are no revamped graphics, there are no bonuses or hidden extras (as far as we know). It's just like they took the original NES cartridge, and shrunk it down to a GBA cartridge. No other changes were made, period.

If you're looking to take a trip back in time and play the TRUE original versions of these games without tracking down an original NES... then this game (and other "Classic NES Series" titles) are for you.

In my opinion, this is a great idea... but knowing how small and simple these games are, compared to how much can be packed onto a GBA cartridge, I think it would have been nice if they DID add in bonuses and extras. For example, it would be awesome if we had the option to play the original game as it was in 1985, or if we could choose to play the same game with brand new graphics, new music, or even more stages. Or better yet, put a bunch of different games on ONE cartridge. As much as I love these classics, I can't justify paying $20 for EACH one when you darn well know they could have packed probably dozens or even hundreds of these old NES games onto one GBA cart. I'd be willing to pay much more than $19.99 for that.

At the very least, they should have added in the "pie factory" board which did not appear in the NES or Coleco Vision versions, but did appear in the arcade version (and I believe it IS in the Game Boy Color version).

      Going to have to disagree
With all the people that are putting negative comments on this game... I guess unless you grew up with this game, Theres no way to really apperciate it... Of coarse its simple, Its supposed to be... I gotta say the orignal games for nintendo were some of the best... you dont need to be high tech to be good :)

      fun game... but wears thin
This game was a lot of fun in the beginning. The amount of different gameplay styles is truly amazing. It could be summed up like this: Mystical Ninja meets Prince of Persia meets Super Mario Sunshine meets Super Monkey Ball. Seriously. But all this starts to dwindle as you progress to later levels, and the game starts to feel like it was rushed. Which is too bad, because this is an action platformer with a lot of promise. I-Ninja is way too short, though, and the game has you play through the same levels over and over, doing the same thing OVER AND OVER, to earn more grades. This isn't fun. It's annoying. So I would only recommend a buy if you can find a good price.

Take you back to those DK days
Ive actually played it, unlike many of the reviews, and I can say if you are an old schooler, liked games like crash, dk, or even maximo, then this might be the game. Dont let the game name fool you, yes you are a ninja, and yes you swing a sword, but the real game is your ability to run through large platforms and obsticles. If you've played Goemon's great adventure, you might remember getting to pilot the giant robot and fight with him... well its back! That to me made it worth the price. I pop this in when I dont want a deep thinker, and since Im not a first person shooter (moronic as those are), I find this game just simple fun. Dont listen to all of us though, try it out.

there is great and then there's..................GREAT!!!
this game is the best game i got so far. it put your brain to the test and your video skills. All you really do is kill people which make the game good. and you won't bet it in a day !!

the other good thing is the graphics are one of the better ones in all the games and you don't have to keep changing the view threw out the whole game.

        Bond . . . James Bond.
007: Nightfire, the third best GBA FPS, and the 10th released. 007: Nightfire definitely delivers from start to finish. We get an in-depth story with neat cut-scenes, wall-to-wall action, and an amazing graphic system. The graphics may look a little grainy but it is one of the most advanced developed for the GBA and pretty impressive. Nightfire also delivers by giving us a nice variety of weapons and Q-Lab gadgets. We get our usual assortment of pistols and machine guns (the bullet shells release from the guns side when you fire!) and our gadgets include a cell-phone grapple (used for reaching high places), a laser watch, a PDA (used to hack), a tranquilizer dart pen, and a little CD hidden in a credit card to monitor computer sysems. So far, so good. The 9 levels the game features are enormous and quite a challenge to get through. You'll find yourself playing the same mission quite a bit in order to get past. Awesome boss battles are also a great edition to the game. The game is a challenge, a fun challenge at that!

This is a great game that has some pretty good grafics for the GBA. For a game that is this long, I think that it did great. It did have one level that I am having a hard time on and that is the last level, I can't figure out how to beat it. are oyur supposed to shoot some computer or the missile. Other than that, it was great. I am sure that I will figure it out soon, probably within a day or two.
