Lamaze Play & Grow: Celeste
Made by Learning Curve
Age Group: 1 months - 2 years
    Amazon base price: $
Want to give your new baby the sun and the moon? Celeste has a three-dimensional, yellow velour sun face with black embroidery on one side, and an embroidered satin moon face on the other. Trimmed in brightly colored, boldly patterned cotton prints, this is one visually stimulating toy. Dangling from Celeste's round body are four stretchy black-and-white polka dot ribbons with a different toy suspended at each end. There's a yellow star teether, a square of purple velour with an embroidered butterfly that rattles when shaken, a green velour circle with embroidered ladybug that squeaks when pressed, and a triangular plastic link. Celeste is easy to carry, too, thanks to a crinkling fabric handle. --Tami Horiuchi

    Cool
I got this as a shower gift and my son loves it. I have it hanging over his changing pad, and we change it from the sun to the moon at night and back in the morning. He's 4 months old now and he loves to coo and squeal at it. And he gets really excited when he can grab it and put it in his mouth! Yummy.

    Jameson loves Celeste
Celeste is the BEST!! My son absolutely loves this toy! We take it everywhere that we go. My son is very particular about toys. To this point, he hasn't cared for much of anything that I have bought for him. Then one day I was shopping for something else and picked this up and gave it to him. He immediately held on and put it in his mouth. When I tried to take it away to pay for it, he cried. Right now he is 5 1/2 months old and we have had Celeste for about 6 weeks. My son loves to hold on to the black and white tentacles and put the toys in his mouth. He much prefers the sunshine side to the moon/stars side. The toy is very soft and plush and Jameson loves to just pet it with his hands. He also likes the little handle loop at the top bacause it makes a crinkly noise. I recommend this toy because it is very soft and extremely well-made. It doesn't have that harsh sort of cheap feel that so many other soft baby toys have. The face is very inviting and has so many places and textures for a baby to grab onto. Although I have yet to wash it this way, it looks as if it would easily wash in the washing machine.

    Excellent toy starting from birth
I was given this gift at a baby shower. My daughter has loved this toy from birth. When she was a newborn, we would hang this toy from a shelf by her changing table so she could look at it and learn to reach. My daughter is now 8 months old and she still loves it! We will hook it around the handle of her car seat and it acts as a mobile. Now that she is teething, she loves to chew on the yellow star. This is a great all around toy that encourages the child to reach out and bat and grasp. My daughter has not tired of exploring or playing with it. Highly recommended!

Mini Polka Dot Rattle, Pogo Rattle, Smiley Face Rattle, and Fascination Station Gift Set
    Made by Sassy
      Amazon base price: $
A full set of developmental toys that will delight and grow with children from birth to their first year are integrated into this gift set by Sassy Toys. Newborns will reflexively grasp the Mini Polka Dot Rattle but won't let go, captivated by the colors they see. It has a classic baby rattle shape with plastic rings and a nubbed handle for tactile stimulation. An innovation in rattle design, the Pogo rattle is atom-shaped. It has lots of places to hold and is more than a tool for distracting a cranky baby, it's also a teether. Smiley Face Rattle adds more interactivity with a push-button squeak nose, crazy eyes, and a mirror on its backside for when self-awareness dawns. Winner of the Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Platinum Award for best toy, Fascination Station has so much to focus on: four spinning delights of sight, feel, and sound mounted on a base that can be hand-held or stand on its own. Each of these toys has won numerous parent association and industry awards for age-appropriate design features and exceptional quality and safety. (Birth to 12 months) --Lynne Sampson

      We love Sassy
My son is 13 months old and still loves his Sassy toys. The Fasination Station is the best. Sassy is a great company and very nice to deal with. Quick to replace items that don't meet satisfaction.( Some of there things don't really preform like they say and can be disapointing.) The only problem that I have had is the paint sometimes melts off if taken in the hot car,or can be chewed off by teethers. All Jac's Sassy toys look 2 years old two weeks after he gets them.Still we love the bright colors and comination of sounds ,textures and activities some of the Sassy toys offer. We own almost everything in there line of rattles and developmental toys and bath toys for newborn to 1 year. This set is great. We couldn't go anywear without the Fasination Station. And he still loves it and the Smiley Face mirror.

A must have for a growing baby!!!
You can't go wrong with this set. The toys can be introduced gradually as baby grows. While still in the hospital my son would grasp the Mini Polka Dot Rattle. It did not take long for him to realize he was the one who made the noise when he shook the rattle. The Smiley Face Rattle was a big hit at around 8 weeks. He loves chewing/sucking on its nose and when it squeakes he squeales. The mirror on the other side soon became a big hit as well. He loves holding it and talking to himself. The Pogo Rattle made its debut around 4 months and proved itself a winner. Its unique shape is like a puzzle that he still loves trying to solve at almost 1 year. The fascination Station has been reserved as a special toy for nights out. At resturants I suction it to the table and baby stays happy while I actually get a warm meal. This toy is really like five toys in one. Each piece is so different that there is always someting new to do. These toys stay at the top of the toy box!!

      Fascinates Baby
These toys are the only ones my 8 week daughter will look at!
The smiley face is adorable and the red nose even squeeks to get baby's attention. I can't wait until she can hold these toys on her own, since she loves to stare at them for a good 15 minutes.

73" Giant Tinkle, Crinkle, Rattle & Squeak Plush
      Made by Gund
      Age Group: 12 months - 6 years
        Amazon base price: $
Small babies love cuddly toys, and they love huge cuddly toys all the more. A caterpillar may not sound like the right creature to choose for an infant, but, quite aside from its cute expression, this little leaf-eater is fully 10 inches wide and only a few inches short of 6 feet long. It has a yellow head with a pink nose, stiff red antennae, and black-and-white plastic eyes. The rest of the body is pure "squish"--there are five sections in orange, red, purple, blue, and green (with a little turned-up tail at the end). Each of the four midsections has a different word on the side and an associated sound effect within: "tinkle," "crinkle," "rattle," and "squeak." This caterpillar is made of polyester and has a washable surface. Make sure you give it lots of leaves to eat. --Richard Farr

Gets better as they get older
My daughter received this as a present when she was born. As an infant, it was used mostly as decoration and as a play area barrier for her before she could crawl over it. Now that she is 4, she loves "riding" on it, making it make noises, and wrapping herself up in it. It sits on the floor of her room, and it looks great. My two year old loves it too. He talks about its colors and loves climbing all over it. My children have a lot of toys and this one guarantees the giggles.

It's good to keep him closed up@
The Catapillar is cute, and goes cute in his room which is bug themed. But it's size in impratical for him to play with at such a young age. But, it's cool anyway.

The Little one is super fun
My son received one of the little ones and he loved the thing so much that I had to replace it twice. The crinkles are exciting for baby and when they learn how to make it squeek it is so fun. I would expect this huge one to be fun for the entire family or for families with several children.

        Taf Toys Rattles Go Around
        Made by International Playthings
        Age Group: 3 months - 2 years
          Amazon base price: $
This colorful merry-go-round offers babies multifaceted opportunities for play. Three rattles spin around in a kaleidoscope of sounds and colors. Each rattle can be removed and played with, so babies have several enticing choices: the yellow rattle with its see-through container of multicolored beads; the red rattle with its set of clanging, spinning disks; and the bright blue rattle with its jangling, spinning cylinder of barbershop stripes. Parents may need to assist babies in removing and re-attaching the rattles. --Gail Hudson

          Great Fun For Baby!
We bought our son this toy for Christmas. He is five months old and is very interested in rattles. We like how the rattles have two handles and that they are light for baby. He loves to shake the rattles and put them in his mouth. The colors are bright and inviting and the "go round" attachment helps to keep the rattles at close reach.

          amazing toy!
it is amazing how parents can sometimes think they know best... when we got this toy i never imagined my baby would be so thrilled with one toy, which i believe expands his little world's frontiers showing him one toy can be whatever you wish it could be. with this one especially, not only he invents on what one toy can be, but on the many posibilities the toy has. and he seems to begin to understand how to separate parts and put them back together, a skill i haven't seen when he plays with other toys. this toy is very different from all crib toys. I definitely like it. But my baby likes it more, and that's what really matters in the end.

Tiny Love: Toys (Black, White, Red)
          Made by Tiny Love
            Amazon base price: $
Here are three toys from Tiny Love to stimulate baby visually, tactilely, and aurally. Included in this set is a two-headed bird that's bright red with white polka dots on one side and black with white polka dots on the other. It has big black and white eyes, two pointy red beaks, and black and red wings with simple white flowers. Press the bird's tummy and he squeaks! There's a white key ring with a black ball on top and three black, white, and red keys attached. The tops of the keys are hard plastic with raised letters (A, B, C) and checks, squiggles, and zigzags. The lower portions of the keys are made of white rubbery plastic that's perfect for teething. Finally, there's a black and white, hard plastic bear that rattles and has a red, rubbery plastic teether attached. All three toys come with plastic rings that facilitate attaching them to other Tiny Love products, such as the Gymini 3-D Activity Gym and the Activity Arch, or to a stroller or high chair. These wonderful toys will fascinate even the youngest infant, and they might just provide you with a moment of peace and quiet! --Tami Horiuchi

            My baby loves these!
My almost 3 month-old has been playing in his gymini for over a month already so I bought these to add to it. He hasn't been that interested in the bird yet but he loves the keys and the teddy bear rattle. The keys have taught him to grab and hold on for the first time, before he was just batting at things.

My daughter still plays with these!
Even though my daughter has pretty much outgrown the gymini, she still plays with the teething keys and the bear from this set. Even if you don't have the gymini, these are great toys that your child will love at a great price!

These are great toys even without the gym
I like these toys much better than the ones that actually came with the gym. They seem to be more designed to stimulate the child. The bear is a rattle and the bird squeaks. Right now, my 3 month old daughter likes holding on to the key ring and shaking it.

              ball & cube
GREAT FOR ALL STAGES OF DEVELOPMENT! In an infant seat or stroller, babies enjoy the colors, feel and rattle. As they age, the ball can be tossed to them. Then the child can roll it away and eventually retrieve by themselves. I've never encountered a child who did not enjoy it.

              Babies Favorite
My daughter LOVES the ball. Since she was 6 months old she has loved to sit up and play catch. Everytime I pick up the ball she smiles because she knows we are going to play one of her favorite games. This toy is on my Top 5 toys list.

my baby doesn't play much with this toy
my babby really hasn't paid much attention on this toy which i bought before she was born (she's 13 mths now). She touched it briefly occasionally and then move to other toys. Maybe it's too "simple" , i am not sure. she likes the busy cube for example. she spends a lot of time with that. For my baby this toy really is not worth the money.

              Lamaze Grip and Grab Rattle
              Made by Learning Curve
              Age Group: 3 months - 2 years
                Amazon base price: $
The pyramid-shaped Grip and Grab Rattle is made of sturdy, safety-tested plastic tubes in bright colors that are connected by clear plastic spheres. Each sphere contains a red bead, smaller beads move freely through the tubes when the rattle is shaken. So what's the big deal? You'll have to ask a baby. For some reason, they love this thing--won't put it down. They'll go to sleep to the sound of it being gently shaken in front of them, or will miraculously be distracted from the car-seat fussies. (Mini van dealers should include the Grip and Grab as a standard feature).

This Lamaze rattle also provides learning opportunities for babies, almost from birth. The tubes are about the diameter of an adult finger--perfect for grabbing with tiny hands, and later, for chomping with tiny gums and teeth. Early lessons in cause and effect and hand- eye coordination are taught when baby moves and the rattle shakes. Included in the packaging is a booklet about infant development and creative ideas on how to use the toy, as well as a U.S. lifetime warranty. Winner of several national awards, including a National Parenting Center Seal of Approval and a National Parenting Publications Honors Award. --Katherine Ferguson

Baby loves it -- maybe a little too much!
My son, now almost 6 months old, loves this rattle. I think the bright colors are wonderful and the fact that he can see the little balls inside that are making the rattling noise is supposed to be good for his cognitive development.

When he was younger, it was great because even before he could really grab the rattle in his tiny hand, he could stick his arm through the middle of this toy and shake it up and down to make noise.

HOWEVER, I think my husband and I may be taking this toy away from him soon, because we're afraid he's going to hurt himself. He shakes this rattle around with such enthusiasm, he keeps smacking himself -- and we know from the times when he smacks us with it that it hurts!

                Lightweight, and educational
One of my favorite things about this toy is the pattern that the colored "legs" of the triangle are laid out in. When turned slightly differently from the picture, you get the 3 primary colors on the top, and the secondary colors that they make when blended together on the bottom. Very nice way to teach colors and color mixing. The baby loves to shake and rattle this all the time. Easy to sanitize after a long day in the park as well!

                Best Bet for Babies
My daughter adores this rattle. It is the first toy she grabbed and held onto. It's colorful handles attract her and the beads move from one sphere to the next. As soon as it's in her grip, the sphere is in her mouth. She'll gum this toy all day if I let her. I haven't had any problems with it hurting her gums as some of the other reviewers did. However, she does occasionally knock herself in the head with it. The manufacturer isn't at fault for that....it's just babies' developing hand-eye coordination. It's very light, despite it's appearance and she never gets hurt. She's been interested in it since she was 3 months old and her attention hasn't waned yet. Lamaze comes through with another winner!

                Tiny Love: Toys (Primary)
                Made by Tiny Love
                  Amazon base price: $
These stimulating toys are designed to be attached to other Tiny Love products, such as the Tiny Love Gymini 3D Activity Gym and the Tiny Love Gymini Deluxe. The set of three keys will be a sure hit with babies--easy for small hands to handle and made with plenty of chewy rubber. The rattling bear flying on a rubbery yellow cloud makes an excellent teething toy. The cloth bird with flapping yellow wings makes a satisfying squeak when squeezed. The plastic link on the toys allows them to be attached just about anywhere, but especially to cribs and playsets. --Gail Hudson

                  Not So Great Toy
My father bought this toy for my son as an Easter gift when he was 8 months old, and the only thing he liked was the teethable car keys. I think this toy was actually ment for a much younger baby, and not an 8 month old.
I now have a 7 week old baby who might find the toys to be more fun, since I put them away when my first ds was 12 months old. Although, since I have gotten them back out, my now 19½ month old still wants the keys, even though I think he's too old for them, and he still has his plastic keys that aren't really made for teething.

I'll probably write another review on this toy when I see if my youngest son likes the toys or not.

                  playtime wont last long
Like I wrote in my title, playtime wont last long! My daughter still cant really use the squeeze toy and shes much older than when she first got these toys which were her first! The other toys didnt really keep her interest at all. I used these toys when she was really really young just to get her eyes to follow objects. After that these toys basically stayed at the bottom of the toy box.

A nice addition to your activity gym
These colorful toys are sure an eye-catcher for my 4 month old! He loves to shake the keys around and we found a hidden surprse in the birdie the other day......it sqeeks! Not only can you hang these on your activity mat/gym but you can take them off for your baby to shake and play with for months even after he outgrows the gym!
