The World's Greatest Toy?

Always trust a child's instinct. My son received it today for his birthday and it kept both of the kids busy for HOURS. They didn't want to go to bed because they were still playing with the ship. Also, my 10.5-year-old daughter did most of the set up. She was able to follow the instructions without a hitch; I know younger children would not have the attention span and fine motor skills to do all of the constructing.
This is my son's first Playmobil set and it is a winner. He's already perusing the catalog to see what other pirate sets he wants!

But, the number of pieces allows many variations to the fire house. Good value since it is paired with the bonus medical station. You get enough figures for two or more kids to play. I would recommend it if you have enough space to keep it together all of the time!
He loves playing with the little people, they, I think are the best. He can carry them with him everwhere in his backpack and they keep him entertained when we go on trips.
What I find interesting about the reviews is what people are saying about only being able to put the building together one way. My son and I have no problem finding different ways to put it together sometimes we make two buildings so we both can play and other times he will put all of them toghether, the firehouse, police station and coastal station. You dont have to use all the walls or floors to put it together, it just takes a little imagination and lots of fun to figure out a new way to build. I think fisher-price has made one of the best lines of toys yet.

The design of the plane is great. The removable top allows for easy access to the fuselage where as many as seven little Playmobil figures can sit. As other reviewers have pointed out, the wheels and wings are designed to pop off so that they don't break when subjected to extreme "toddler forces". Don't worry about them falling off all the time, though. You can pick up the plane by the rear stabilizer wing (probably the least secure part of the plane) without it falling apart. That's pretty sturdy while still having the break-away functionality required to make this toy last a long time.
One of the things I really like about this plane (and other Playmobil toys, like the Pirate Ship) are the stickers. Rather than being thin stickers that curl when you peel them and subsequently become unwieldy, the stickers are stiff so they are easy to place accurately.
The realistic look of the plane as well as its large size (approx. 20" wingspan) are also cool aspects of this toy.

The instructions were very easy to follow, and I enjoyed how MegaBlocks will show you the current step in a different color. The Lego manuals you have to sometimes search to see what exactly is required on the step.
Why doesn't MegaBlocks call this what it is, the Lockheed-Martin F-16 Fighting Falcon, instead of a "tactical fighter".
The model is pretty true to the aircraft, and we have gone ahead and added "HL" for the tail (Hill AFB), and we'll paint the missiles to represent AIM-9 Sidewinders.
It's a fine addition to the office cubicle!
Like the other vehicles, this one is extremely agile, and the radio controller works phenomenally. The track/treads let this loader go all over the ramps and decks, where some of the wheeled vehicles fear to tread (also nice that the balls don't easily get stuck underneath, requiring a "hand" to get going again).
However, actually loading any balls in the front bucket is quite difficult. It took me about half an hour f practice to be able to get even one or two balls to stay in, and my son has yet to get the hang of it. Mildly frustrating for him, but not to the point where he doesn't want to play with the set. On the bright side, the vehicles are all pretty durable, and the tank-style treads give this loader quite an advantage in any "Robot Wars"-style battles that may happen between players and their vehicles. [Yes, I know that's probably not in the spirit of cooperation and peaceful creation of a construction set, but it *is* fun!]
Even though mastering the loader is a bit hard, I still recommend it (at least if you want to be able to tip over the other trucks!).
