A great collectible for the purist in sports card collecting
I have to admit that Topps amazes us time and time again with great cards for the purist of sports fans. Sure, the sports collecting biz is for those who enjoy the fun of collecting cards, but buyers' beware. There have been some reviews from Beckett Baseball Card Collector magazine regarding pulls of those Presidential Signatures. Fans will be amazed that this wax box set contains 11 packs with 6 cards each. IF you plan on buying a box, buy some top-loaders or 1-screw screwdowns to store the cards you pulled from the packs. 66 cards come in the box (11 packs with 6 cards each) so a 100-count Ultra Pro plastic box case would do the trick! Better yet, visit a Toys 'R' Us store, buy those Trading Card Center Box in bulk. Stock up on these 2004 Topps Baseball Series 1 Boxes. Open up the boxes and put the sealed, unopened packs in the storage boxes. Then have a garage sale and sell 'em. The key factor here is to NOT open the sealed packs containing the cards. Sure, discard the factory box with the printed sales price, but place the sole unopened packs in the Trading Card Center Box. Label it any way you like and conduct the garage sale. Try a consignment shop if all else fails.

    A Solid Effort from Topps
If you enjoy collecting cards for their sentimental value, Topps 2004 is perfect. The cards are an exceptional value and the cost is minimal if you're hunting cards of your favorite players. The photography is excellent and the card back design is easy to read and, as in Topps' usual style, full of statistics and interesting bits of information on each player. Topps has always tended to give you that little extra bit of information about a player, such as nicknames, hobbies, funny stories, etc.

If you're looking to make a profit off of these cards in the future, don't expect to clean up with this set. Topps has always been a step or two behind Upper Deck and Fleer when it comes to card value.

I don't collect cards for profit. I'm just a big kid who loves America's favorite pasttime.

Great Cards To Collect If You Love The Game
Topps does it again with a fine set of cards that allows the average collector to pick up their favorite players and teams without breaking the bank. If you're only into the card collecting biz to make money, these cards will not hold much weight when compared to Upper Deck and other card companies. However, if you love baseball for baseball's sake, I highly recommend this card series.

There are some great photographs in this set. I have purchased both individual packs and the eleven-pack box set. No one else comes close to the value of these cards. I have not received any game-worn or autographed cards as of yet, but I did get an "Own the Game" card and most of the World Series Highlight cards.

Once again, if you love the game and its players, no matter how valuable their particular card may be, I highly recommend these cards. If your only in it for the money, go somewhere else.

        Repaints - already?
It's a bad sign that the second Superman figure released by Mattel is nothing more than a repaint of one issued only weeks before. That first figure, which I call "true blue Superman," was accurate to his look in the first season of the "Justice League" TV series, and had Supes in his trademark blue costume. This version (let's call him "blackout Superman") is the same toy, only with his suit black instead of blue, and his 'S' chest symbol red on a black background instead of red on yellow. Blackout Superman offers no new accesories, and no special features. The only reasons I can see for buying this are that you can't find the "true blue" version, or are one of those obsessive collectors who HAVE to have every version of every toy (I'm not one of them). A better deal: get the Justice League's Javelin 7 spacecraft, which has electronic features, AND a True Blue Superman figure free!

Can We NAME Our Variants, Please?
This is a beautiful variant of the regular Superman action figure (a loose term, as there are few points of articulation), but I have just one question. Is this the Superman with black symbol as he currently appears in the books, or is it a Kingdom Come version of Supes?
Try naming your variants for the fans, Mattel.

        superman justice league
I have bought a lot of action figures. I always want the best likeness. Mattel has done that. There sculpts catch Justice league perfectly. I see my children and all other haveing many adventures with there Justice league fiures. Now Mattel lets have some villans!

Masters of the Universe: Wolf Aromor He-Man and Snake Armor Skeletor with VHS Cassette Tape
        Made by Mattel

          List price: $24.99 (that's NaN% off!)
Sadly, He-Man and Skeletor still haven't settled their differences, even after all these years. So once again they don armor, pick up weapons, and prepare for yet another battle for control of Castle Grayskull. He-Man, looking more aggressive and leaner than in his original mid-80s incarnation, sports a detachable wolf-head helmet, a claw-like weapon that fits over his hand, and a wolf-emblem shield with plastic and spring-loaded retractable blades. Skeletor looks every bit the worthy foe with his snake helmet, purple-skull shield with the same blade system, and a sword. Really, their gear is so similar, it's almost like you can imagine them shopping at the same store (at different times, naturally). We were impressed by how easily the accessories slipped on and off and how posable the figures were. A video of He-Man's adventures and, presumably, further battles is included. --John Moe

I thik the he-man and skeletor wolfamor is wonderful you get both he-man and skeletor in great new outfits and a bonus new video! The battle continues....
They're at it again, like an eternal yin and yang, it's He-man and Skeletor in the latest of their seemingly endless variations. We've seen super sound, samurai, spin and smash blades. This time it's He-Man in Wolf Armor vs. Skeletor in Snake Armor. The armor sets are cool enough but the figures have been released before, nice looking shields with a new He-Man video. Skeletor's snake armor is way cool, but wolf armor...the idea is just stupid. What's it going to do...keep He-Man warm? Wolf armor...just plain dumb but they needed a tough, warm blooded, "good" animal to counteract the evil snake armor. Okay...but is it worth [the money]? No, no way. This is an TRU exclusive and will be a sought after collectors item. Eternia's faithful are already screaming for it over at the ultimate Masters of the Universe site, He-Man.org

Ever wonder about Skeletor? He's a skeleton but he has really big muscles...that doesn't make any sense.

          Watch those limbs!
First Trap Jaw loses an arm. Now my son drops He Man 2 feet and his leg breaks off. This MOTU line is fun to look at but tell that to boys who want to play with them. Definitely not worth the price. How about releasing a DVD instead of a VHS tape too They're cheaper and lighter. Save your money. Really.

This is one of my favorite figures of all time . The figure is fluid mimicing movement the thin wings are perfect they look like there in mid flight .some of the other ep II figures are flimsy and to be displayed not played with or you need a degree and bubblegum just to keep them standing but watto is cool

            Not a very fun toy...
Basically this figure is a revamp of the Ep. 1 figure. The only differences being the pit droid hat and the different wings and a stand for him to be on. But other than that, this figure is only good for completist collectors (like myself) or kids who just want a watto figure if they missed the original.

            You're Getting Old, Man.
Watto isn't too bad of an action figure. The detail is rather extraordinary, especially in the figures face. However, the detail also makes his skin color somewhat out of sinc: the colors of his skin are right but they are extremely bright and do not appear to be very realistic. Also, the wings are kind of flimsy. Other than that, Watto is a fun addition to add to any Star Wars action figure collection. I especially like getting my Anakin figure out and having him talk down to and beat up Watto.

              Cool, solid Flash figure
Like most DC Direct toys, this one is not designed for maximum playability, it's designed to look cool, and look cool it does. Based on Alex Ross' designs from the classic "Kingdom Come" miniseries, this is the Wally West Flash as an older man, having shifted to a point of his existence where he lives between the ticks of the clock, constantly moving, never stopping long enough for anyone to get a good look at him. This figure represents that very well, molding the figure's body from a translucent red plastic that allows a bit of light to slip through. It's not a toy that will be easy to play with, but it will look great on the shelf next to the rest of your Kingdom Come action figures.

              A little overpriced
Granted that the Flash in KC has only one color and exists in all planes of reality, the figure in that sense remains faithful to the story. But $15 + S&H is a little too much for a figure that basically looks like a blow pop and has only the helmet as an accessory. But don't think that the figure is not worth getting...it is a great addition to your kingdom come collection but not for the price being charged. If you look at other chracters in the series such as Deadman and Captain Marvel you'll notice the amount of detail that went into its making. In comparison, the Flash falls very short. Also, it features the same amount of "articulation" that is characteristic of the KC series, which is very limited. In my opinion, you are better off getting it cheaper from e-bay or such.

                Awesome
Frodo is the coolest Hobbit in all Middle-Earth adventures. Cannot belive he defeated Sauron. Wish i was a Hobbit like him so we can be best Hobbit pals. Elijah Wood played as him in the book, movie and video game(return of the king). (Gasp) is that Sting which frodo used to fight evil?

                Frodo
A nice looking figure and a good face sculpt, but disappointing in some ways. Foremost is that it does not stand up on its own, as the legs are oddly formed in a sort of "action" pose that, despite bending the joints, never lend themselves to both feet flat at once. Thus the figure ends up bent forward oddly or some such by the time it quits tipping over. Still and all, a nice addition to a collection if you just have something to sort of prop him a bit. I'd not recommend this for a lot of active play, but rather a display piece.

                  Easterling Review
First off, let me say I do like this 3 pack. The Easterlings look great, just how they did in the movie. However, I think there are some quality control issures. First off, the staff that comes with the Easterling with staff, is extremely difficult to fit in his hands, my staff broke as I was trying to fit it in his hands. The same with the Easterling with Shield. The shield won't fit in his hand. You have to stick a pencil in his hand to open it up more before it fits. Also the joints on these toys can sometimes be hard to move right after you take them out of the box. You have to start working the joints slowly, because if you just decide to twist the arm to get it moving it'll snap off. The solution to this would be to stick it in the freezer for a while, which makes the joints easier to move. Also, don't give this to any young children, because it has some very small pieces.

                  Cool Easterlings
These are really good toys. The Easterling with the flag is obviously the leader of the group,he comes with both his sword and flag. Witch are both removable. The Easterling with the axe is pretty cool, the only thing that disappoints me is that he only has one weapon. And now we come to my favorite one of the three, the Easterling with the swod and the sheild witch I think is a good combination of weapons. Over all this is a good way to get some bad guys that aren't orcs.

                    Okay, but not that great.
This is a pretty mediocre set. The only good reason to get his is for Saruman. The main parts are the back stand w/ Saruman's seat and the palantiri stand. The Gandalf isnt that great either. I'd use my money for the Bride of Kazadum instead (that has the Balrog, a good Gandalf, and a goblin archer).

this is a great toy . they do not have great balance they require their bases to stand . they have great detail ,the swords are strong and don't break .over all this is great.

                      These are MODELS, not TOYS
I wrote a similar review for the Ringwraith/Frodo/Sam set. These are nice collectibles as they model the characters well (you can easily tell apart Merry from Pippin). However, they are not good as "toys". The ad says "fully articulated" which is a fallacy since only the arms can move. They require their bases in order to stand. Boromir tends to lean over a bit, although it isn't a problem to balance.
