Water Babies give little girls the chance to pamper what feels like a real baby of their very own--without the need to develop a diaper-changing regimen. The doll's body is made of soft rubber, nicely detailed with a teensy belly button and little dimples on the knees. An included funnel screws into a plug in the doll's back so that she can be filled with lukewarm water. Once you manage to get the air out of the doll and put her outfit back on--which is a challenge--she's ready for cuddling. Dressed like Simba from The Lion King, this Water Baby steals the show with a long tail that ends in a tuft of yellow hair, footsies that are stuffed to hold their shape (even though the doll's feet are small), and a hood with round floppy ears. There's also an included plastic rattle that's shaped like the famous cub, who sits with his head titled and his feet folded in front of him. The doll's outfit is made of 100 percent polyester, surface washable only, and is held in place with Velcro. The manufacturer recommends that the water inside the doll be changed at least once per week. --David Morel

If your child is building a Loving Family Home collection, this "nursery" set will fill at least one of its rooms with classic, if miniature, décor. A large pink crib is decorated with gingham, ribbon trim, and a detailed mobile, which plays a simple lullaby. There's also a hamper, a dresser with working shelves, and an attached changing station. A throw rug, toys, and activity gym complete the room. A blue teddy bear is added as Baby's companion, even though a baby doll doesn't come with the set.
