This is a decent racing game, fun and fast-paced. But where 3DO has really raised the bar is with the crash effects. Cars collide with a satisfying crunching sound. Smoke belches from under what's left of your hood. Car parts go flying. Huge dents appear right at the point of impact--even the taillights go out, one by one. After a few minutes your car looks like something out of a junkyard.
All this carnage makes Destruction Derby 64 one of the most fun car racing games to appear in quite a while. Aside from the pure and simple smash-'em-up derbies, you can choose a traditional looped racetrack race. Well, not exactly traditional: half of the cars race in one direction, the other cars go in the opposite direction. What happens when the two racing groups meet isn't pretty, but it is fun. Bonus: one track is laid out in a crash-inducing figure eight, just like your favorite Hot Wheels sets.
The game's only weakness is the save functionality: you need a memory card to save, and even then you need to complete an entire series to save and move to the next level. Too bad you can't save after every race: it would have reduced the annoyance factor considerably. But, nitpicking aside, the combination of high-speed racing and good old-fashioned smash-'em-up thrills makes Destruction Derby 64 a first-place winner. --Jeanne Uy
Pros:
- Car-smash effects are realistic
- Contains both circuit track racing and dirt-field demolition derby events
- Rear-view, drive-backwards mode is a nice improvement over other games
- Great multiplayer game for up to 4 players
- Can't save after every race
- Not enough variety in standard cars

Many different games in one
One of my favorite games
Never gets old!

Restless in Seattle
The polls are in and we have a wiinner in this game.
The setup to this game is a snap, literally. You snap together the YES and NO chips hand one to each player and get ready to begin. While the game can be played with as little as four players I found the more the merrier and you can have up to eight. I also found that teams work s great making this a great party game.
You simply bid on the number of people you think will answer the question yes or no and make it to the center first and you win. Questions are both easy and tough and you'll find some very revealing information about yourself and your friends.
The game includes over 600 questions and if you don't like any of them then merely make up your own, as long as they are a yes/no question. Again an excellent party game and it also makes a great gift idea for any occasion with a price to fit every budget. Overall this is the newest party game at our house - excellent job!

The best DC controller, but........
Go with a Sega controller for your Dreamcast!
The RARE yellow controller! Smooooooth! One piece of advice... CALL THE VENDOR BEFORE YOU BUY so that they can verify that they are, in fact, selling the yellow controller. If you buy from a vendor who doesn't specify in the product description that it is yellow, you may end up with something else (most likely a white or blue controller).
Good luck and happy hunting!!!!

All-Time Favorite Game - Honest Rating! This has been my all-time favorite game because it has a lot of depth in the storyline and there's no doubt Volition-Inc. (the game's developer) didn't spend all their money on the game and not voice acting. It's fun and pulls you in with the great story and killer voice acting. Too bad Freespace 1 and 2 were some of those great yet little-known games. Get both, I mainly like FPS games, but Freespace stands out.
I can attest to its value because I've been playing this a wee-bit too much for a whole 2 years. I still have a blast with it. I can't blame Volition for taking their time on making this a great title. 2 years in the making, a must-buy, even if you haven't heard a darn thing about it.
