About the system: The PS One has all of the same functionality as the original PlayStation workhorse, will work with all of the same peripherals and accessories, and will play the existing PlayStation game library, as well as audio CDs (also note that, like the original PlayStation, it's not compatible with the more advanced PlayStation2). The difference here is that this new model is quite a bit smaller than its older brother, and quite a bit cuter, too.

The system is made up of a 32-bit, 34 MHz RISC processor with 16 megabits of main memory, 8 megabits of graphics memory, 24-channel stereo sound, a 2x CD-ROM drive, and one Dual Shock analog controller. That's not a lot of power compared to the next-generation systems out there; but, when you factor in its very low price and the enormous library of games that are available (more than 1,000 spread across every genre imaginable), one can see easily why it's as good a deal as ever. With optional portability accessories for the PS One (such as the 4-inch Mobile Monitor LCD screen attachment and rechargeable power supplies, to name a couple), this little machine could become a great option for the on-the-go gamer.

About the game: Gran Turismo 2's driving action takes place on 20 different racecourses--almost double the number in the original game. There are more than 400 cars from which to choose, including newly added muscle cars and even a VW Beetle! While some racing games slide by with less-than-realistic driving control, the Gran Turismo series has won over die-hard car fanatics with its attention to detail and realism.

About the accessories: The PS One memory card stores characters, special weapons, saved levels, high scores, or custom controller settings in a durable, compact design. This portable memory card allows you to suspend game progress and share game items with a friend's console. The fully adjustable and programmable V3 racing wheel is an analog/digital steering wheel controller with 300-degree wheel rotation.

On your way to the Showdown you will do battle in The Web itself (in a fast-paced 3-D video mode). You'll also have to find a way to destroy the space station in Space Station Frenzy (a three-ball mode) and master combo shots in Combo Mania (a special high-scoring round).

Only when you have completed five special tasks will the Ultimate Showdown (an incredible six-ball frenzy) be ready for you.... Will you be ready for it?
