Connect Four - Electronic Hand-Held
Made by Hasbro
    Amazon base price: $
    List price: $13.99 (that's NaN% off!)
Checkers has never been the same since Connect Four. Now there's even more of a challenge with Electronic Hand-Held Connect Four. Here, you're going up against a machine. Play the traditional game of trying to get four in a row--horizontal, vertical, or diagonal--while blocking the computer opponent. Add more of a challenge by choosing Game 2: the checkers disappear, and it takes memory and strategy to win. The arrow keys keep you in complete control of the game, and you can even shut off the sound to better concentrate. There are three different skill levels to keep things interesting, or if it's too hard, the computer will offer hints with the press of a button. --Lynne Sampson

      Made Wordhunters Out of Us!
This game provides much interest and entertainment. It is also educational. At one point there were four adults in our family involved at the same time, so as a bonus,it provided some fun, quality family time together.
I don't understand what Radica means when it says the game has a hint button. There is no button named "hint" on this game. Also, I think people could see it better if the screen were backlit.
We would recommend this game...a nice Christmas present for any age above 8.

Bought this new before a long car trip. This one plus our old on-the-go game kept my kids busy for many hours! Highly recommend for trips. Many games to choose from.

        Perfect for Boring Days
This is the first Pixter Deluxe I got, and I got a great first impression of Pixter toys. The games and drawing are fabulous, it is great for traffic and rainy, boring days.

          1960's kid
I am writing this review from what I remember as a 10 year old in the early 1960's. I loved this game. Now I am buying this game for my 4 grandkids this Christmas. I want them to have the enjoyment of a simple play-by-yourself game or play with your friends and family game. No tv or computers involved in this game. It is a basic get back to the simple life game! Hope I can keep this game wrapped until Christmas.

          Yahtzee - Electronic Hand Held
          Made by Milton Bradley

            List price: $13.99 (that's NaN% off!)
Now everyone can enjoy the classic game of Yahtzee in a nifty electronic version. Small enough to fit in your hand, this addictive game lets you "roll" the dice with the click of a button. Press "hold" to keep the ones you want, and then roll again. Get 5 of a kind, and you've got "Yahtzee." A row of options at the top ("3 of a kind," "small straight," etc.) is available to select preferred scoring for each round. like the original, this fun game can be a bit noisy with its sound effects and victory song, but it does include a silence feature. --Tom Keogh

            Great Travel Buddy
This game is great. It is all the fun of Yahtzee, in your hand. All of the same rules apply and all of the objectives are the same. The objective of the game is to save the dice to get a full house or a 4 of a kind to name a few. The set up and buttons are very clear. You could learn without the instructions. There is a handy dandy point sheet on the back of the game that tells you all of the objectives and how many points they are worth. This game is small so it is perfect for a long car ride, gym or can fit in your pocket for when ever you have some free time. It is worth it.

            Yahtzee like never before
I gave an electronic handheld Yahtzee game to one of my friends a couple of years ago and he loved it! I've always loved Yahtzee myself since my baby-sitter got me started. So I decided to take a shot with electronic handheld yahtzee.

I got addicted the instant I started playing with it. I'm taking it everywhere I go when I have spare time. Even my grandma and my sister are addicted! When you get a Yahtzee you yell and shout for victory. I love this game! I guess this game's only educational value is thinking where you want to put your score or what "dice" you want to keep. Those are the biggest strategies. The other two points I didn't put for educational value is because that part is the pure luck of rolling the "dice".

I'm surprised this toy is so durable. There are handheld Poker games similar to this one that aren't as durable as this one.

I also have the electronic handheld battleship game by Milton Bradley. Out of all of the electronic handheld games that are out in the stores today, I'd say this one is the best.

Overall, I love this game. It is a great buy for those people that love toys!

Fun and addictive from the get go!
As a new Yahtzee fan, I thought it couldn't get any better than the Yahtzee and Deluxe Yahtzee game. Now this electronic handheld Yahtzee had to come out. I'm in Yahtzee overload! The minute you pick it up and start playing, you're hooked; as if I wasn't hooked enough already! The sounds are wonderful and NEVER annoying, and the little music that plays when you get a Yahtzee is snazzy. The controls are delightfully easy and the display is nicely sized. Even if you have a bad game, its soon forgotten when you hit the "new game" or "roll" button. I can't play it on work nights because its so hard to put down, I stay up late; I still do it anyway! Add this to your Yahtzee collection and enjoy this classic game in a convenient handheld electronic format.

            Pocket Tetris Game
            Made by Radica Games
              Amazon base price: $
              List price: $10.99 (that's NaN% off!)
A fair warning to anyone contemplating the purchase of this handheld version of the video game classic: don't plan on having a life for a while. Tetris is less something you play than something you are consumed by. The concept of the game is simple: a series of shapes fall slowly down the screen and you must move them around and make them fit into horizontal rows before they hit the bottom. If you complete a row, it disappears. If you leave gaps, you will have less space to stack the ever-descending shapes. So you never really win the game, you just sort of delay losing. Nonetheless, it's almost impossible, once you start playing Tetris to actually stop. This handheld set is ready to play with batteries included, an on/off option for the bleepy video game music, and the ability to imprint cascading geometric patterns directly on your cerebral cortex for months to come (at least that's what it feels like sometimes). But that's not to say the game isn't fun--it is--and a handheld version is the ideal distraction for young or old on long trips. --Charlie Williams

              Tetris Failure
My wife and I love this game. We own an older version of the same, and it is able to IR link with annother to play head to head. However, the geniuses who designed the game ran one of the circuits directly under the pivot for the directional control, thereby DESIGNING it to fail. Ours has worn through the circuit plating, and just bit hard. If they can re-design it, I will buy at least six, so my friends can all play, too.

Broke after about 8 hours of play
I loved this game, until it stopped working after about 8 hours of playing with it. It wasn't the batteries! It was the game.

No reviews found for this product.
              Love this game!
I had to laugh when I read the above editorial review of Tetris because it's as if the reviewer took words from my mouth. I must be one of the few people who didn't know of the game's existence until this past Christmas 2003 when my sister got me this pocket version, and it has seriously consumed hours of my life. For the first few weeks of playing it, I would also see the shapes in my head all the time when I was trying to sleep or work or whatever. It's crazy how this thing can take over.
Anyhow, it's lots of fun, and though I thought I'd never improve, I have gotten much better since those first few days. I seem to have plateaued at this point however.

              Bop It - Extreme 2
              Made by Hasbro
                Amazon base price: $
Even electronic toys have gone extreme. Kids love the original Bop It, an electronic toy that challenges response time to pull, twist, and bop different parts of the toy. The Extreme 2 version adds two more tasks, more sounds, and a taunting, smart-aleck announcer who directs the game. As you get better, the game moves faster until you miss a beat and lose, accompanied by a fair amount of noise and ridicule from the toy. People who don't think they'd ever want to play Bop It Extreme 2 won't be able to put it down; it instills a compulsive need to bop till you drop. It can be played in a group and makes a good party game--even for serious adults. --Lynne Sampson

                The Best game!
Bop it Extreme 2 is the best! My sister got it for her birthday but, I love playing it! Before I could only get 1 or 2 but, now I have 38.
I play it when I wake up, when I have extra time, & before I go to bed!
I like all the things you can play on it and, that it has a volume control and, that it tells you what the high score is.
This game is really fun! People should purchase this item.

Bop it extreme 2 vs Bop it extreme
Hi, I'm a 19 years old college student attending UCSD. I live in a suit with other students and we use to hang out, but we got nothing to do. I decided to buy this toy to promote some social interactions. To my surprise, everybody just jumps in and have a blast. We played endless Pass it! games. It REALLY trains your reflex skill. I find it so much fun that I had to write a review, which I rarely do.

As for the difference between the Bop It Extreme and the Bop It Extreme 2 versions.(I had this question when I buy this toy)
                1) The Bop It Extreme 2 version has 3 levels of volume, while the Bop It Extreme has one LOUD volume.
                2) The Bop It Extreme 2 has an earphone jack for personal enjoyment, while the Bop It Extreme doesn't.
                3) The Bop It Extreme 2 TELLS you at the end your score(i.e. "You scored forty-eght"), while the Bop It Extreme plays different sounds to denote score(i.e. "whistle, whistle, rachet, rachet, rachet, drum, drum, drum, drum"). Hence requiring you to count and decipher which sound worth more points than other.
                4) The Bop It Extreme 2 has more music than the Bop It Extreme as advertised.
                5) The Bop It Extreme 2 has rubber grip and better grip-mold for the Spin it! wheel.
                6) The Bop It Extreme 2 just looks much cooler, hands down! :D

Playing this game Solo is fun, but get together w/ your friends and you all will have a BLAST!

                NOT soooo great,
VERY,VERY noisey. It is hard for me to get a high score. They whant you to do it so fast. (Yes, I know a game should be challinging.) And to tell you it takes a odd number of batterys,3 of 'em. One time the batterys got corroded so it made it hard to get out. I never did play with it again. The sound got scratchy too. (...)I do not recomend any of the Bop It toys to anyone.

                Electronic Catch Phrase Game
                Made by Hasbro
                  Amazon base price: $
                  List price: $25.99 (that's NaN% off!)
Ever play "Hot Potato" with a spud that ticks and talks? Welcome to Electronic Catch Phrase, the battery-powered (three AAA, not included) blend of clue deduction and race against the clock. Two teams of two or more players each alternate turns, guessing the answers to clues in 11 categories, from Food & Drink to Tech & Inventions. Set the timer on the discus-like game unit, and the clue-giving countdown begins; if a team's guess matches the response on the game's readout, pass the unit to the opponents. Just don't get caught holding this potato when the buzzer sounds (after about a minute of increasingly insistent beating), as the other team will score a point, possession being nine- tenths of the "Awww!" With its infectious mix of fast, nerve-wracking, high- pressure passing the buck, Electronic Catch Phrase spreads a serious case of fun. --Tony Mason

                  Best.....Party.....Game.....EVER!
I really can't fid anything wrong with this game. There are 10,000 words, so if you find a repeat word, it is incredibly rare. The educational value isnt that good, but, it isn't a game you buy for educational value. You buy it for fun, and that's what it delivers. Everyone will be laughing at the hilarity of some of clues. If you haven't already, buy this game.

                  Fun Party Game!
Remember the old $100, 000 Pyramid game that still reruns on the Game Show network with Dick Clark? This game is sort of like that. There's no silly cardboard cards to fiddle around with, and it's fast paced and fun. You describe the various words that pop up on your screen without saying it to your fellow team member, and you should see the look on people's faces when they try to pinpoint the word. It's comical - and the shouting never stops. But unlike the old pyramid game, you can get a lot of people to join in on the fun, by dividing it up into two teams.

There's a really loud beeping noise that accompanies the game - and it grows more intense minute by minute, until the device buzzes, and the person left holding the unit is the one who gets the 'raspberry' sound. (There's no volume control by the way, but if you're playing this with a lot of people, and there's tons of noise, you'll have a hard time even hearing the beeping)

Great party game, and good fun!

A Nerve-Wracking, Yet Highly Contagious Game
"Catch Phrase" is one of the many cool things I have discovered since being in college. I'll bet hardly anyone has heard of it (no one had heard of it where I come from anyway), but it is one of the most contagious games around.

The premise of the game is simple: After setting the timer, your team has to guess what word or phrase is visible on the screen. The unit cannot be passed until someone says exactly what is on the screen. When someone does guess correctly, you pass it on to a member of the other team.

For example, if the word was "pumpkin," you could say something along the lines of, "Okay, guys, Peter-Peter-blank-eater!" If someone has been keeping up on their nursery rhymes, he or she will know that the word in place of "blank" is "pumpkin." Make sense?

This game is a blast when you get a huge amount of people to play. About a month ago, around 20 of us were playing it at the same time. Good times there, folks!

Fun: Fun, fun, FUN. I can't reiterate it enough. It's interesting to see how nervous people get when the timer starts beeping faster; hence, the buzzer is about to go off. For some reason, people get really panicky when the pressure starts to build. It's only a game, people! Of course, you don't realize that at the time. Everyone is yelling out answers, and with all the excitement going on, your heartbeat can rise in a hurry.

Educational Value: This is a thinking game. That's the only way I know how to put it. You have to think about what it is your teammate is trying to say without he or she actually coming out and saying it. And they're not all as easy as "pumpkin." There are some real stumpers in this game, and that only adds to the fun (or frustration depending upon what side you're on).

Durability: This game is very durable. Just don't drop it! It probably wouldn't hold up very well since this is the electronic version.

In short, "Catch Phrase" is a very cool game. It's great to play with a lot of people, and it never gets boring. I've played this numerous times, and I always have interesting stories to tell the next day.

                  Simon - Electronic Hand-Held
                  Made by Milton Bradley
                    Amazon base price: $
Simon is back again in a miniature 4-inch form--small enough to fit in a pocket but still featuring buttons large enough to play with friends. Press the circle in the middle and try this classic memory test as it adds one by one to a series of tones and colors. The more notes are added to the game, the faster it gets, so even memory pros may have a hard time following this computerized marvel all the way through a sequence. --John Longenbaugh

Simon hand-held is great! I love to play it in the car and boy is it durable. I've had it for about 2/1 years now and haven't replaced the batteries yet. I guess it a little edu. because you have to have skill.

One of the best toys for adults as well as kids
Simon is an excellent tool for improving memory. It stimulates the mind and provides great satisfaction along the way. The handheld version is compact and can easily be carried around in your pocket. I absolutely love it and whenever I am a little down, I play with it and immediately forget my troubles. I recommend this to all kids and especially to adults who are having trouble remembering.

                    Nu Jam Guitar Handheld Game

                      List price: $21.99 (that's NaN% off!)
From the makers of the popular Bop It electronic games comes the Nu Jam Guitar handheld game. Shaped like a futuristic guitar with a silver body and a long green neck that lights up when you play, the Nu Jam Guitar challenges players to react, with quick reflexes and a good sense of rhythm, to the musical riffs, spoken words, and flashing lights that keep the game moving along. The game keeps and stores high scores as you play, and advanced players can set the game on double time to increase the speed and difficulty levels. Normal gameplay tends to be very noisy, but the manufacturer wisely included a headphone jack so players can jam into the wee hours without keeping the rest of the family awake. Headphones are not included. Designed for one or more players, the game requires three AA batteries (not included). --Chris Burns

Very entertaining toy - you won't be disappointed!
We just bought a couple of days ago and it's been in use practically every since we put batteries in it. We are fans of Bop It Extremes and thought we'd try out this toy by the same makers.
My kids are 3, 10 and 13 and all have a lot of fun with it. My husband has had a ball with it too. (I think he's played it more than they have! :) ) He enjoys the challenging modes and the fact you are making a kind of music with the toy.
Our 3 year old likes to play it in the "free jam" mode where he is not playing a game, but can play music on the guitar anyway he likes. We got some great video footage of him "jamming" on this guitar!

Adding headphones is a good idea for using when the "new" wears off and the grownups get tired of hearing it!!

                      Go for it!
GREAT toy. My 8 year old got it for XMas and simply loves it! Has several different "play modes" for different sounds and is quite durable. All of his friends want one! You won't be disappointed!
