Monopoly Reviews

I'm playing it with 3 kids (age 6,7,8) and they are learning a TON about counting money and adding/subtracting. They all want to be the banker and I've told them they can as soon as they can make change well.
The board is wonderful and child appealing. The play is fast paced and engrossing. Kids just LOVE buying anything Disney. We had tried regular monopoly at our house but it bombed out. I hadn't played since I was a kid and had forgotten that Monopoly actually has A LOT of rules. The kids are all learning them though through the Disney version.
Another reviewer had said it would be a good game to use to teach 5-8 yr olds how to play Monopoly. Originally I had thought "naaa--they won't get it" but its TRUE! I am amazed.
In an age where I detest many of the "new" games this one is a great twist on an old favorite. HIGHLY recommended.
p.s. The only negative I have is that when we went to open the board up it was really tough. It turned out that someone at the factory (or some machine I guess) got GLUE happy and when we did get it opened up there were small tears in the board from the glue sticking. I have emailed Hasbro about this but haven't received an answer but I expect them to replace the board.

Best way to play this board game

Each board is numbered and Limited. It is beautifully designed with a superb classic look. The art on the money, chance and community chest cards is AWESOME!!. Not even the Simpson's version rivals this. The Hotels and Houses are made of wood, plus the hotels have written on them Grand Hotel in gold. It comes with a tray that fits everything including money and title deeds. The board folds in four but is strong. So that should not be a problem.
My only problem with this game is that the tin can will eventually rust. Other than that it is a great version.
There are two Tin variations that I know of; The Train and the Race Car. Both are equally great. The difference would be the shape of the can and small art details.
As I said before these games are numbered and Limited. So my advice to you is to get a hand on this while you can. But have in mind this is for display only. If you want a nice looking Monopoly to play with you may either buy two or try the Deluxe version which is very nice.

The Monopoly themed rummy type game did not work well in a five player session, I don't recommend it for that. I can also see how a 2 player version would be quite boring, but 3-4 and you've got a game worth playing.
Players must discard (in front of them) one card per turn. These are done in order. On a turn, a player must draw a card from the deck, or trade cards to get one of the cards in front of another player. If a player wants the bottom discard of a three card discard pile, he must give the other player three cards.
When a player has collected monopolies and bonus cards as sets, he can then "go out."
We also did not use the provided money, but rather just kept score. However, I can see how kids would prefer to have the play money in front of them to keep track of the score.

A Classic, Always Fun To Play.

As others have noted, the "nests" and "doghouses" look remarkably like houses and hotels. While a little disappointing, it doesn't dampen my enjoyment of this incarnation of the classic board game.
