Musical Hands Mat
Made by I-Play
Age Group: 24 months - 5 years
    Amazon base price: $29.99
Toddlers love to hear their favorite nursery rhyme songs, and of course they love anything with sound effects and flashing lights. This electronic musical toy is 45 inches long and 11 inches wide, with a large, one-octave keyboard sporting a plastic handprint on each key and a red button above that flashes when the key is played. The keyboard can be played in five different tones: piano, bells, doggie barks, kitty meows, or birdie tweets, and in several modes: complete songs, free-play mode, or preprogrammed mode. The preprogrammed mode is an interesting feature that will help preschoolers (or their parents) learn to play the eight familiar songs. The tiny red light flashes, you play that handprint, and follow along until--hey, you're making music! The musical mat has a wipe-clean plastic surface, and it requires two AA batteries (not included). --Marcie Bovetz, mother and former children's librarian

    good fun
My daughters(4year old, 2year old and 9 mos) love this toy. The keys are a little hard to hit but they seem to really enjoy it. The baby enjoys trying to play it but likes watching her sisters play it more.

A good example of a young child's keyboard
This is pretty good. It is one of those plastic - roll out type keyboard, which allows it to be both a very big toy and easily stored at the same time. The sounds are not brilliant, and as I assume they must have used samples this cuold easily have been improved (the quack only just sounds like a quack for example). The keyboard could also have been made better by including two octaves, and some black notes. If the makers want us to treat these toys as educational, then they must assume that they are a prelude to a child working with a piano type keyboard, so some sharps and flats would help. These two niggles aside, this is a fun item, and very easy for little ones to use.

    GREAT FOR PRESCHOOLERS!
THIS PIANO IS EXCELLENT FOR LITTLE HANDS TO PRACTICE ON AND FOR LITTLE EARS TO LISTEN TO. MY 2 LITTLE GIRLS (17 MONTH OLD AND 4 YEAR OLD) LOVE IT. I ALSO TEACH MUSIC TO A GROUP OF 3-5 YEAR OLDS AND THEY REALLY ENJOY PLAYING IT. VERY EASY FOR THEM TO OPERATE AND GREAT FOR FAMILIARIZING THEM WITH MUSICAL SCALE AND DIFFERENT SOUNDS.

3 year old Thomas fan loves this game
My 3 year old is a big Thomas fan and absolutely loves this game. He picked it up fairly easily because we have watched the "Thomas and the Magic Railroad" movie several times. This helped him understand the game very easily. It is fun and involves some teamwork among players to save Lady. Diesel adds an interesting twist because he can win and none of the players can. We have had this game for a week and have played several dozen times and really love it. I highly recommend this for a child who is a Thomas fan.

Complicated set-up doesn't match age level
My son loves Thomas and likes this game, but mostly because he loves the Thomas characters. The game is hard to set up: 6 trains that go to 3 different locations on the board, 8 piles of 4 small token cards. This complicated set up isn't appropriate for the age level that this game is for (and I would be surprised if any child over 5 sustained an interest in this game). The game itself doesn't make any sense; trains just wander around the board while the player tries to find gold dust cards and track to rescue Lady. All-in-all, disappointing.

      Good Game for the Kids
My son picked out this game as a souvenier after visiting a train museum. Before the weekend was out we had already gotten our money's worth. Especially nice is the twist where Deisel 10 wins, helping my son learn how to be a gracious non-winner when playing a game. After the adults have had their fill, which is always long before my son does, he then plays with the pieces and the gameboard reenacting Thomas stories he has seen or made up. It's not challenging for adults, but then again it is made for kids. Keeping that in mind it is a great game for Thomas lovers.

A little tough for younger kids
Like others have said, the main object of this book is to find the hidden clues to unlock the safe at the end with the birthday present inside. Some of the clues are really tough for the younger kids. I would say that is book is more appropriate for kids in first grade and up. Finding the clues is really easy if you can figure out the secret (the little bug, Eddison, tells you exactly where to look for the clue on each page) plus the clues are given in order on the page with the safe. Like I said, it is a bit complicated for a child in pre-school or possibly Kindergarten, but it is educational.

      Tasks dont make sense
This leap pad book requires kids to find a secret unlabeled spot on the page to get a clue which is just a number they are told on each page. At the end they have to press the numbers in sequence to unlock a safe holding a birthday gift. Both having to press "who knows where" on the page to be told a number, and to then have to remember them all, seems terribly strange. My daughter doesn't bother with any of it. I do not recommend this book at all.

Nice addition to your childs leap pad Math library
This one is more challenging than the Counting on Leap book or the even more simple Tad goes Shopping. Leap has to follow a number of clues and visit everything from a team at the park, to the junkyard to finally find his Birthday Present. There is even a maze he has to go through :-) So its a very nice activity book for a preschooler. I am personally using it for a toddler, so this book is not too useful to me yet, but my friends kids3 and up love it.

This scooter was NOT SAFE for my 5 year-old
My son recv'd this scooter as a gift from grandparents. He initally rode it w/training wheels ON & his free leg/foot would usually get "tripped" up on the training wheels (they extend-out too far). The platform is too short (for my 5 yr old). My son recv'd three gashes/cuts to his ankles (on 3 different occasions) from the rear wheel screw/nut when trying to propel himself along (this is without trng wheels). He also got a cut on the inside part of his leg (near his ankle)from contact w/the metal sloping part (just behind the front wheel) when trying to lift it off/away a curb. After the 3rd incident, we dismantled it & threw it away.

My Daughter is in Love with Her Scooter
My daughter(5) has so much fun riding her new scooter. Her mother who is maybe three times her weight got on it and demonstrated the art of scooting. No damage done -- this scooter is build solid!
I noticed that unlike a bicycle this scooter's turning radius is rather small. The beauty of this is that the child who rides this scooter will less likely have those catastrophic turn-the- handle-bar-one-way-fall-another-way (as on a bicycle) accidents.
None of the toy stores in my town carried this scooter; so I imagine my daughter is one of the few who owns one here. I would not hesitate to buy another scoooter from this company!

3 year old enjoys, 5 year old LOVES, great toy
Solid fun. 3 year old is too young, but learning. 5 year old won't get off the toy. Excellent for 4+ year old children.

4 MB Cartridge Doesn't Give Progress Reports
If you have a toy from the Turbo Twist line, don't bother with the 4MB(gold) cartridge, stick with the 2MB(silver) cartridge. The 4 MB cost more then the 2MB, you won't need the extra storage space (no matter how much memory a cartiridge holds, you can only download one activity pack at a time), and with the 2MB you can download a progress report to see how your child is doing, but you can't get a progress report if you use the 4MB cartridge. I only gave the cartridge 3 stars on durablity because I had one fail after repeated use, but much sooner then it should have.

          it's ok, BUT....
We decided to get the iQuest master edition because it had this rewriteable cartridge and CDs with all the material - seemed like a no-brainer to spend [$$$] for everything rather than [$$$] for the iQuest and [$$$] each for the cartridges. Unfortunately, those prewritten cartridges hold entire books, this re-writeable one only holds a few chapters - or about 15 to 30min of material. Unfortunately, we whought it would be good for planetrips, long car trips, etc, But now we're looking at [$$$] to get a books worth of material to be able to do this. I feel tremendously mislead buy the manufacturer...

          Wow! 4 MB!
This memory cartridge is great. If you have the Mindstation or Leap Link and a LeapFrog toy that says "Internet Expandable", such as the IQuest, you should buy this. This can be used for ANY LeapFrog toy that says, "Internet Expandable."

Thomas fans will have fun organizing their trains with this carrying case made of sturdy tin by Schylling. The 13.25-by-10-by-1.75-inch blue case has a colorful picture of Thomas the Tank Engine on the front with additional images of his train friends Percy, James, and Henry on the inside. There is plenty of storage space inside for the whole gang and the tracks they run on. This case has four nonadjustable slots to hold train cars, a shiny silver latch for secure closure, and a plastic red handle for easy transport. Mom is a Neat Freak ~
I purchased this Train Case for my son last Christmas, (age 6). It is very sturdy, with handle. I like that all the trains can be put into one place and carried away simply/easily. Those moms like myself, when your child has finished playing, there is now a place for them to put their trains in. The 'metal' case is a great added bonus, the trains have the magnetic ends and they easily go into case. Next play time, the trains are all in one spot. Thomas, come up with a place like this for the track - I need it !

            Good concept but lacks quality
My son received this as a gift. I love that the inside is set up like "shelves". My son loves to organize his trains in it. I don't like how thin the metal is. It dents as easy as a cola can. If it were made better, it would be worth the money. Save your money on this one and find something better made.

Great item if only it was better quality
Well, now this carry case is a goner. The latch will no longer close and the top rim is hopelessly bent. It was fun while it lasted.

to fit the Big Red Stake Wagon...
For the Big Red Stake Wagon [has wood rails (that say "big red ATW) around one end of the wagon] you must install the seat so the child's back is facing the handle or you need to take the rails off. The seat strap does fit around the wagon but you must adjust the straps at all three ends. They must be all the way at the end of the strap including the end that has the CAUTION label (i removed the label to secure the buckle to the strap). This is the only way the safety strap will fit completely around the wagon.

              It fits!
I just received my wagon seat today and was scepticle on whether it would fit my wagon or not after reading the other reviews. Well it fit. I have the Big Red Stake (ATW) which is 50% deeper than the standard wagon and it also has the wooden rails. The seat needs to be installed on the opposite end of the rails and the (3) buckles of the strap need be closest the ends. I also needed to remove the CAUTION label to use that part of the strap - but it does fit!

              Which models does it fit
does this work with all models of the wagon . . . eg the All Terrain Steel and Wooden Wagon?

Great toy, worth the extra money for lights and sounds!
We bought this for our son's first birthday. He LOVES it! I wasn't sure if the lights and sounds were worth the extra money (above the older version of this toy) but it definitely was! The music and lights are what make this toy one of his favorites! He loves to sit on it and rock. It's great that the music starts (in ROCK mode) as soon as he moves it. I can see that this toy will be one of his favorites for a while! I also like that this is a good replacement for a regular rocking horse....we don't need one now since we have this. Plus, this will be used for many more years than a small rocking horse. We'll probably get him a wooden one when he's 3 or 4 years old, but for now this is enough rocking for him!

                Horrible
The foot pedals disappear and my sons feet drag and go under if parents don't notice right away which is painful. The handle for parents doesn't stay in place which is a pain. And it is almost impossible for parents to turn when they are dealing with kids who still can't steer or pedal yet. My husband and I took our son outside with it once and never again. It isn't safe since it is such a struggle for parents to turn we have to practically drag it from left to right and since it doesn't have a seat belt my son almost fell off the side. He only uses it to rock on at home and will not be using it outside until he can pedal and steer on his own.

                Extremely pleased
I bought this bike for my twin nephews for Christmas this past year. They were only 11 months old but loved them as they had just started walking and could climb all over them. Now that they are really mobile they love to push them while they are outside. It is great for them and easy on mom. The noises are great and one loves to rock to the music while the other likes to figure everything out on it. Definitely a great purchase!

                Learn to Dress Cube

                Age Group: 24 months - 5 years

Learning to dress (with buttons, snaps, zippers, and ties) can be a source of frustration for an eager preschooler. The Learn to Dress Cube is a marvelous tool--and a fun toy--that teaches children all-important dressing skills. Each side of the cube has a different type of closure--there are snaps, clasps, Velcro fastenings, buttons, laces, and a zipper. The cube's colorful fabrics are sure to be stimulating as well, and the snaps, buttons, and laces can be counted, sized, and categorized. With its convenient handle, the cube can be easily carried to a friend's house or to school. And Grandma will enjoy watching a how-to-dress demonstration. --Sandy Hirsch

Not durable, difficult to use, and unsafe
Not only is this toy not durable, it's unsafe. My 26 month old son took the buttons off within minutes of playing with it. He just wiggled them until the threads gave way. I tugged on the buttons hard to see how easily they would give and a button came right off. The buttons are small enough to be put in the mouth and swallowed (but big enough to get stuck going down). I don't know how this toy is allowed to be on the market given that safety issue.

The snaps are very difficult to use. Because the toy is soft, there is nothing to push the snaps against, making it very difficult to close the snaps. When trying to open the snaps, my son's first inclination is to tug on the fabric around the snap and it feels like the fabric will tear before the snap will open.

The zipper is also very difficult to use. Even I have difficulty pulling it up.

Because it is difficult to use, my son is not very interested in playing with this toy. The most interest he had was when the buttons came off, he thought that's what they were supposed to do and proceeded to work on all 4.

                  SUPER!!!!!

                  A Good Tool For developement
My 3 year old son has learn independence through using this great developement Educational Toys. He love spending time trying to learn how to button, zipper, fasten snappers, and connecting laches. It keeps him quiet because he is concentrating on how to get in to work. It is one of the best toy I've brought.

Great toy for a 5 or 6 year old
My daughter received this last christmas when she was 5 1/2. She absolutely loves it! She will play with it for long periods of time, even now 7 months later. The only thing that I would change about it is to add a head phone adapter. It is meant for travel because it is called "tote and teach". She would have loved to take it with on vacation but couldnt use it on the plane.
