    Wonderfully Creative
This baking set along with the toaster and the blender by Kidkraft have kept my four year old and my 1 1/2 year olds' attention every day since we have had it. They never seem to get bored with these sets as they have with other brands. These products are well made and have enabled my kids to really be creative when playing restaraunt or house. They are by far the best "play" cooking sets we have owned - and we have had MANY! I do recommend supervision for children under three because the products are wood and somewhat heavy. Really a lot of fun!

Whether your play kitchen is wooden, plastic, or purely imaginary, be sure to supply it with lots of calories. This selection of plastic play foods contains enough items to open a restaurant. There are three complete meals, and also place mats, plates, silverware, and menus. Food items range from pizza slices and fried eggs to ice cream cones, waffles, and glazed donuts. Pieces are typically about half life-size. --Richard Farr

      We love this play food!
My 2 1/2 year old daughter loves to play with her pretend food. This set also comes with plates, spoons, and forks as well. You really get a lot of stuff with this set. The bacon, ice cream, and donuts are her favorites. The one drawback to this toy are the empty cardboard "food" boxes. They fell apart immediately and I had to throw them away. Kind of pointless, but the rest of the food is worth it.

As much fun as plastic food can be.
I appreciated that a lot of the pieces were made of a rubberized, flexible plastic instead of the thin, injection molded plastic that dents easily. The assortment includes foods that work well together for serving pretend meals, as opposed to, say, including a carton of eggs... how do you serve an unshelled egg?

The pizza was great, durable and servable, with a pizza cutter and server included. Burgers and fries, hot dogs and ice cream. Spaghetti, soda bottles with a bottle opener (How quaint! Mom, what's this?), eggs, waffles and eerily realistic bacon. And probably more I'm forgetting, along with some dishes and uninspired "box food".

If you have a toy kitchen, this is a great food assortment. Find yourself a nice set of pots and pans (and maybe a set of cooking food, like the aforementioned carton of eggs) and practice your pretend food eating noises. You'll need them.

      Perfect!
I have 3 children ages 6,4, & 2 and they all love this set! It comes with just about everything your little one needs for the kitchen. I considered buying a name brand set, but changed my mind when i saw this one. I am glad I did! This set is not only good quality, but an excellent price!

Equip that play kitchen. There are gourmet options out there (for example, realistic play versions of Calphalon pots), but this more basic set of cookware gets the job done, too. More than half a dozen pots and pans, with lids, are complemented by bowls, serving utensils, and some food items. Most items are about half life-size or a little less--pans 4 inches across and food cans 2 inches high. --Richard Farr

        great set
this set is great, i dont think the plastic is poor quality as some reviewers have said. there is such a variety of pieces included, we didnt feel the need to add to it. most of the items have 2 of each included which is great for our 2 kids sharing. i like the choice of food items included, there are lots of options for combinations of meals, etc. you might want to buy a plastic tub to store all the pieces in to keep them together.

A nice set for either a boy or girl
At first I thought that they lacked quality, but my 1 and 3 year old both love them and the colors and selection make a nice set.

I would recommend them for your kids.

        Great playset!!
I bought this for my 5 year old and she just loves it. I am pleased with the purchase for the price. It is lots of fun and she plays with it for hours. The quality is fine, it won't bend or break. The playfood and the utensils that come with it are just wonderful. There are so many choices for her to create meals with. I would highly recommend this product for any child who loves to use their imagination. I have noticed that she would rather play with this toy than watch tv!

Fun Folding Kitchen with 18 Accessories
        Made by Fisher-Price
          Amazon base price: $39.99
This pretend kitchen is a wonderful toy to keep toddlers occupied while you're trying to cook dinner. And, for those who are short on kitchen space, this kitchen playset sets up into a full-size kid's kitchen and then folds flat to store in a closet when playtime is done. The play kitchen features an oven and refrigerator that really open and a two-burner stove with dials that make cooking sound effects, such as sizzling or bubbling, when turned. The set comes with 18 different accessories, including a phone, a covered pot, a pan, two plates, two glasses, two forks, two spoons, a spatula, a serving spoon, a salt shaker, and several fake food items--a fried egg, green beans, and macaroni and cheese. At first glance, assembly looks daunting, but well-diagramed instructions make setup fairly easy. This playset requires three AA batteries to power the sound effects. --Cristina Vaamonde

          Great Imagination for toddlers
My 2 year old toddler love this kitchen. It really does keep her busy when I'm busy in the kitchen. It gives her recognition of things around the kitchen. It is very cute and fun!

          I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT .....
I LOVE IT AND SO DOES MY DAUGHTER WHO JUST TURNED TWO YESTERDAY (SHE RECIEVED IT FOR HER BIRTHDAY. THE ONLY THING WRONG IS THE OVEN DOOR HAS A PROBLEM STAYING CLOSED. I DID NOTICE THE SAMETHING WAS WRONG WITH THE FLOOR MODEL AT TOYSRUS, BUT I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST THE FLOOR MODEL. I WAS WRONG. HOWEVER I WAS ABLE TO REINFORCE OVEN DOOR LATCH WITH SCOTCH TAPE. OVERALL ITS A REALLY GREAT TOY FOR ANY LITTLE GIRL AGES 1 1/2 UP TO 3 YEARS OF AGE. HOUR AND HOURS OF FUN!!!

          Happy Happy Mom
I wasn't sure if this kitchen was the right one to get for my 18 mo. old daughter, after reading the reviews, but I am so glad that we did! When we got it home, the screws were missing and so was the phone. I called ToysRUS and they simply gave me the missing parts, no problems! Like other families, our oven door falls open sometimes but not to the point where it is bother some. My daughter plays with it so much that it is usually open anyway. It was great that we didn't need to purchase any other dishes or food since it came with all that we need for right now. I even find myself enjoying the time that I spend playing with the kitchen! This really is a must have for any little girl who loves to pretend and have tons of fun!

Lil Chefs Kitchen - Meals for Two: Bakery Set
          Made by Toys "R" Us
            Amazon base price: $14.99
A child who’s running a bakery or a kitchen (or a cardboard box that just became a bakery or a kitchen) needs supplies. This big box of plastic food accessories will keep the baking going for hours. It includes utensils--knife, spatula, rolling pin, muffin tin, baking tray, cookie cutters, measuring spoons--but most of the items are food. A few things, such as a 4-inch diameter pie, are miniature, but most are life-size, including a stick of butter, some cookies, three eggs, and frosted muffins. There are also several colorful product boxes labeled milk, cherry pie mix, chocolate chip cookie mix, etc. An excellent addition to any play kitchen. --Richard Farr

            Some pieces aren't too durable
What was Lil Chefs thinking when they included cardboard pieces in a playset for young children? The cardboard mixes and milk carton didn't last an hour with my toddlers - might as well have left them out. Also, the cookies don't fit in the cookie cutters. The set is fun, but the quality was disappointing.

            cardboard for toddlers?
My toddlers love this playset, however Lil Chefs might as well have left out the cardboard boxes of mixes - since they won't last more than a day with small children. Also the paper labels on the cans of icing got torn off within 5 mins. of it being unpacked. The other plastic pieces are great fun, though.

Another great lil chefs pretend food set!
What can I say?...Another GREAT and cute set from Lil chefs! What pretend kitchen set couldn't use a pretend baking set of cookies? My 2 1/2 yr old will love this as one of her Christmas gifts! I have purchased about 6 of the lil chefs pretend food sets and just think they are all so cute! But you must go to one of your local TRU stores to see the entire collection because they don't show them all on line. The only reason I gave 4 stars for durability is because the cookie cutters/cookies are slightly smaller and made with thinner plastic than others that I have seen in the past (such as little tykes when they made fake foods) but overall, CUTE!

            Discover Sounds Kitchen
            Made by Little Tikes
            Age Group: 9 months - 3 years
              Amazon base price: $29.99
Play kitchens are favorite toddler toys, but they often take up a tremendous amount of space. This scaled-down version provides all sorts of fun activities and fits neatly in even the smallest of rooms. The unit itself stands approximately 16.5 inches tall, 22 inches wide, and 8.5 inches deep. There's a refrigerator with a bright yellow door that has a shape sorter on the outside: insert the shapes, then push the button, and the shapes drop into the waiting pot just like an icemaker dispensing ice. Open the refrigerator drawer and just look at all the (sticker) food on the pretend shelves! The red microwave and white oven have functional, bright green doors. A purple sink and countertop sport a white faucet and blue burner. Turn the yellow timer knob below the burner and the timer ticks and rings. Set the included, smiling orange frying pan on the burner and the imaginary food immediately starts to sizzle. Place the smiling green pot on the stove and listen to pretend water bubble and boil. Also included are an oversized measuring spoon and spatula, a phone with a wall bracket, and three plastic shapes for the shape sorter/ice dispenser. Let's get cooking! --Tami Horiuchi

New version to be released in August
FYI- this kitchen has been redesigned by little tikes and the new version will be released in August according to their website.

              Wonderful first kitchen
I bought this kitchen for my 9 month old daughter and she loves it! She loves to sit in front of it and open the doors on it. She also likes the sounds that it makes. She sits in front of it and will play with it for quite a while. We also have the nesting pots and she uses those with it. I agree with one of the other reviewers that it does tip easily if pushed against and should be braced against something to be on the safe side for babies. I would recommend that the age range of the toy be changed from 9-36 months to 9-24 months. 2 year olds usually want to play with a kitchen they can stand at that is bigger. This is a wonderful toy and I also bought the Discovery workshop for my friends 9 month old son and he loves it!

              This is the BEST TOY!!!
I cannot say enough good things about this kitchen! We bought it when our daughter was 9 months old, and she still plays with it at 16 months. She has honestly played with this more than any other toy she's gotten. I try to alternate groups of toys (as she gets bored easily), but this is one that is a constant.

I remember how thrilled we were that she figured out the shapes (ice cubes in the refrigerator door) the day we gave it to her, and we feel it helped her figure out other toys with shapes. She also quickly discovered how to get the dishes to make the cooking sounds, and she loves that! She carries the phone around everywhere and puts all kinds of things in the oven, refrigerator and microwave--only to be tickled when she finds them later! An added bonus is that the utensils make a great teether.

Since this adorable kitchen keeps her busy for quite awhile, I don't mind it being a part of our living room decor. We also used to put it right in the playpen! It's very durable, just the right height, and easy to clean. When others come over, this is what gets played with the most. I HIGHLY recommend it for your child, and I'm picky! :)

              Cooking Fun Bake Set
              Made by Little Tikes
              Age Group: 4 - 6 years
                Amazon base price: $14.99
Kids are fascinated with watching their parents do even the most mundane tasks around the house and love to imitate. Cooking is no exception--but parents don't want kids touching their powerful kitchen electrics. This baking set for tikes offers a perfect compromise. The set includes a battery-operated, two-speed mixer that looks a lot like Mommy's, but is made out of plastic. The mixer has two interchangeable spinning blades: a pair of beaters and a pair of whisk-like attachments, both with rounded edges for safety. The set also includes a scale that measures ingredients up to 25 ounces, a mixing bowl, a measuring cup, and several minature-sized utensils that fit perfectly in tiny hands--a measuring spoon, a scoop, a spatula, and a rolling pin. Kids will be satisfied to cook alongside their parents. And who knows? Maybe in a few years they'll be qualified to completely take over in the kitchen! --Cristina Vaamonde

                Beater Hazard
I purchased the Little Tikes Bake Set from Toys R' Us. All the accessories are good except the mixer. The beaters pull off the mixer w/ out much effort. Our little girl likes to chew on the beaters and if she would walk or run the ends are not as smooth as the above summary regarding the product claims. This needs to be brought to the attention of Little Tikes, which I will be calling next!!! I have also tried placing the beater in my mouth, with little pressure it doesn't feel good, let alone get the end of the beater in an eye.

                FUN FOR A MOMENT
I got this for my almost 2yr old son. He was excited about it for the 1st couple days & now - there it sits on the floor. Never been touched since. I think maybe he'd enjoy it more if he was older... but its just not fun for his age. He does use the bowls it came with to feed his stuffed animals though...

Fantastic toy for the little chef!!
My 2 year old son received this mixer for Christmas. WOW! He has played with it almost every day since. His dad likes to cook/bake using a big Kitchenaid, and now my son loves using his mixer like daddy! He changes the beaters, knows what they are called and what they do (even knows that you can 'lick' the beaters), puts it on the stand and takes it off. He walks around the house holding this mixer and playing with it. He'll come to me and say "where'd my mixer go?" if he loses track of it!
It seems to be very sturdy so far and my son can be pretty harsh on his toys. I have tried to teach him to be nice to his toys and they will last longer and he has done so with this mixer. He loves to put Cheerios in the bowl and 'mix' them up!
I highly recommend this toy to anyone with a child who wants to get in there and mix with the best of them. BAM!

                Easy-Bake Oven and Snack Center
                Made by Hasbro
                Age Group: 8 - 10 years
                  Amazon base price: $19.99
Children love toys that help them master grown-up activities such as cooking and caring for others. That's the attraction to Hasbro's Easy-Bake Oven & Snack Center, where kids can create real miniature baked goods to share. Young chefs also can use a special warming tray on the top of the oven to melt cheese or chocolate for dips and toppings. Designed for safety, the 14-by-7-by-7-inch electric oven is heated with a 100-watt light bulb that's installed behind a secure panel. Children move food items in and out of the baking chamber by using a long-handled, plastic "pan pusher" that keeps small hands out of harm's way. Each set includes two 3-inch round baking pans, two tiny cooking utensils, a warmer cover, two warming cups, a pan pusher, and a recipe booklet. Three cooking mixes are also provided. You'll need to contribute the light bulb, assembly with a Phillips screwdriver, and a good deal of adult supervision. --Joan DeClaire

                  A very good toy
I think that this toy is very good quality and it is a must for children of all ages.

FUN:This toy is very fun. Kids will love that they have their own oven to cook in and will be very proud of what they baked.

EDUCATIONAL:This is a very educational toy. It teaches responsibilty and the basics of cooking.

DURABLE:THis toy is extremely durable. My old one was given to me for free from my friend; who had bought it from a garage sale 7 years ago! So I'm sure that this is a good one.

Overall, a very very good toy! It sure beats the heck out of using moms big ovenand getting burned! The only problem is finding cheap mixes. I solved that by making my own!( Search for "easy bake oven recipes" on google)

too much supervision and mixes too expensive
My 7 year old daughter received the oven for Christmas and has really enjoyed baking cakes and cookies for her family and for her and her brother to devour. I like the concept of the toy (and I was always upset that I never had one as a child). It does teach a little about cooking such as measuring and mixing and baking times. However, it requires way too much adult supervision as I have to help her with the mixing of the very small amounts of mix and with the cleanup. Basically all she does is pour the mix in the bowl, measure the water and stir a little (I always have to get it completely mixed up) and then she puts it in the oven and takes it out. The frostings in particular are very hard for her to mix and she never has enough for the little cake. Beware before you buy that the boxes of mix are very expensive. For approx. $5 you get 2 cake mixes and 2 frostings. This makes 2 cakes about 4 inches in diameter. Although my daughter loves the oven, I think she has just as good a time helping me bake. Regular cake mixes are much easier to mix as is the regular frosting you buy. We are going to try some regular cake mix in the easy bake oven as someone here suggested and hopefully that will turn out good. Otherwise I cant see myself or my daughter using her allowance to purchase the $5 mix that makes 2 teeny tiny cakes. Also, be sure you have a regular 100 watt bulb. I thought we were all prepared but we only had soft white bulbs which could not be used. This caused us some grief until my husband could get to the store.

Lots of fun for all, not too messy, great rainy day project, and no hot stove needed! They even taste pretty good, although the texture is a little like a kitchen sponge.

                    Great fun for little ones
My kindergartener and her best friend love this set. We "bake" something just about every week. However, we have learned a couple of things about the sets: first, if you are using this kit in a dry environment, keep mixing the batter until you are ready to pour it into the pans; otherwise it will set prematurely and not pour well. Second, if you use it in a humid environment, it will not ever set correctly. Third, one of the sets recommended leaving the cake in the pan to set for 3 hours (not a good idea for impatient kindergarteners), but if you place it in the refrigerator, it will cut down on the time (we left ours in for about 20 minutes and it came out of the mold fine).

I have not been brave enough to eat any of the cakes, although the frosting (which I am sure is all sugar) was tasty. My daughter did make brownies for several of the teachers at our school and no one mentioned them tasting awful, and they all seem to have survived the experience!

All in all, this is a cute set and since it is easy for little ones, I highly recommend it!

What a fun and easy thing to do with kids
My 5 year old and her 4 year old friend had a blast with this kit. They could share and do this together. I do think it was easier to do with my own frosting, but overall this kept them busy for a good hour or two. Tasted kind of good also.

                    Sweet Magic Kitchen
                    Made by Fisher-Price
                    Age Group: 36 months - 6 years
                      Amazon base price: $89.99
Budding young pastry chefs can get some early training in the culinary arts with this pretend kitchen. Kids can make, bake, and decorate toy goodies in this workstation, which includes a refrigerator, overhead pantry, and side storage for ingredients; a stovetop with burners and knobs and an oven for cooking treats; and a sink for cleaning up. The magic oven appears to actually "bake" the seven different sweets that come with the kitchen by changing their color when "cooked." Kids can refer to the built-in cookbook to see what treats should look like before and after baking. An icing bag with a soft tip lets kids decorate their masterpieces after they come out of the oven. Other vital kitchen accessories in the set include a mixing bowl, a baking dish, two serving plates, a potholder, a pitcher, two water goblets, a spatula, a fork, a spoon, a whisk, a cake stand, four cake toppers, cake mix, a milk carton, an egg, and a phone. The oven operates on three D batteries (not included). --Cristina Vaamonde

                      boring
We had bought this kitchen for my 20 month old daughter after we saw how much fun she had with a garage sale 1950's kitchen that a freind had. We chose the higher price tag kitchen hoping it would grow with her and for the snazzy picture on the box.

                      This kitchen is BORING!!
Only the stove makes noise or lights up and it cooks too long.
It does not have a sprayer for the sink and the pantry is too high. Also none of the accesories fit in the pantry. Also small children are not intrested in specially preparing to cook and have colors change they just want to walk up and play with it.
And the kitchen comes with lady bug stickers which once applied I could not remove and my daughter is afraid of them.
Even when she does attempt to play with this toy " she ends up yelling bug the whole time. I am very upset that I made a rash decision and paid (...) for this kitchen that is not up to parr when this will probably be the only kitchen she has. It would not make sense to buy yet another.

{Parents this is just one more reason to always check the online reveiw of toys)

                      Not worth the money!
We bought this for our daughters 3rd birthday. The kitchen we wanted to get her was not in stock at the time. She picked this one out, I think because of the colors and cookies in the picture.

I was not happy with it but I figured she liked it so that is all that mattered.

After it was put together I realized I really didn't like it and wanted to return it.

The refrigerator was cheesy, the plastic that it was made of was the kind that if she or her soon to be climbing brother climbed on it it would break into sharp pieces.

Every time she opened the oven door, it would hit her toes. I had to remember to freeze the part that goes in the oven so it would bake the dessert which I always forgot to do. Plus it was in our basement which is a bit on the cool side so the food never went back to the uncooked state.

The knob to turn on the oven was hard for me to move let alone my 3 year old.

I was not happy with this toy and I love Fisher Price toys too. (...)P>The only good thing about this kitchen was the play cups, they were cute.

                      Great Kitchen for Two
I got this for my two and four year old for christmas 2003. They play all the time with it. Remembering to keep the color changing device frozen can be hard but they play just as much without it. The oven door was a little hard to open at first but it has been broken in and works great now. I did not put this toy together so I do not know about the hardships of it. All I know is my girls love it and use it almost everyday. It came with two sets of color accessories so that worked out great. Even though one does not work as well as the other it pacifies the urge to not share.
