Our daughter LOVES her new house!!!
Our 18 month old daughter, Madilyn, absolutley adores her new house (BIG THANKS to Lolo and Lola who sent the $$$). My husband, his friend, and I put the house together in 30 minutes. We put it out in the backyard. It doesn't take up that much room at all (So if you have a small yard, this is perfect). She loves ringing the doorbell and going in and out (and in and out again). She likes to open and close the shutters to play peek-a-boo. She also loves the cordless phone that came with it...it looks like our real phone. She says, "Hel-lo" and hands it to me. The floor is very sturdy (I crawled in and sat in there with her). We live in an area that has A LOT of pollen. Yesterday we noticed that there was a layer of it on the floor. We just took the water hose and hosed it down. The drainage holes work great! She couldn't wait until it dried, so needless to say she came out with wet shorts. She fits perfect on the molded-in seats. If you have a larger toddler, it may pose a problem. There may not be enough space between your child and the table. She also loves to stick things through the mailbox. All-in-all this is an AWESOME buy. It keeps our daughter entertained for hours. We also bought the Step2 Water and Sand Table and the Step2 Big Folding Slide. Between all that, her two ride-on toys, and her sandbox, the backyard looks like a fun park! P.S. Be sure to have someone push against the table while you screw it in...the screw might not go in at all.

    After Christmas Present
I purchased this playhouse for my little girl, she is 21 months old and she loves it,I actually have it in my house.I think it can be indoor/outdoor, due to it's size it's perfect for a little one who is just starting out and gives them room to grow.It has very neutral colors and is just cute,it took me no time at all to put it together and watching my little girl playing in it makes it all worth while.Step2 did good with this product.

Polly Pocket: Snack Time Playset with Polly and Steven Dolls and Two Scooters
    Made by Mattel
    Age Group: 4 - 7 years
      Amazon base price: $14.99
      List price: $19.99 (that's 25% off!)
Polly and her friend Steven are hitting the road for a day of, apparently, scooter riding and snack consumption. Besides posable figures of the adventurers themselves, this set features purple and blue rolling scooters and a snack stand setup, complete with tables and chairs. As with any self-respecting doll set, there are plenty of accessories included to round out the couple's day and enable a variety of pretend-play situations. Thoughtfully, Steven and Polly's outfits match their scooters (blue for him, purple for her) and, mindful of safety, are equipped with helmets. Are Polly and Steven just friends or is there something more going on here? That's not ours to say. We were impressed by this set's versatility and the ease with which the figures can interact with their gear. --Charlie Williams

      Polly Scooters
This toy is pretty cool. The only thing I dislike is how hard it is to keep the people on the scooters without holding on to them. What I do like is how you get to people instead of 1,the colors of the scooters are pretty if you get the set with pastel scooters like I did,and how the boy in the set has brown hair and thats pretty rare. And just to let you know if you already have purcased the polly scooter packages, the girl in this one is the same one. I also would like to say that the snack stand is cardboard but its still pretty durable.

        Pretend Doctor Kit
I just love this set! My kid get me ready for my checkup, and it takes away the fear of them. The electric stethescope sounds like a real heartbeat(not like some that just go 'boom, boom' it goes 'thump, thump') and the blood-pressure cuff is quite realistic. I even brought it to my child's doctor and he recommends it! If you want a quality toy this is an example.

        Find another kit
This toy seemed like it would be really great for my aspiring "baby doctor". Unfortunately, the Doctor's "shirt" is cheap vinyl and ripped at the shoulder seam the first time she put it on. The scissors came apart. So both pieces ended up in the trash. The rest of the kit is easy to put back in the large plastic box (unlike the fisher price doctor kit) and the other pieces seem to endure all my girls can dish out.

Horn broke off before we had it out of the package
I bought this for my daughter's 6th birthday. She loves unicorns and is pretty bummed that one of them is now "just a horse" because it's horn snapped off as we were taking it out of the box! These are cute, but seeing them up close I see they are cheap, ecspecially considering it barely bumped the side of the box to make the horn come off. If I had seen these up close in the store, I would not have paid more than $10 for them. It's too bad there aren't more unicorn toys out there.

            On our second Tracy
The first Tracy we got (at Christmas) had defective eyes that were permanently rolled up into her head in this creepy, vacant stare. We exchanged her for a model with functioning eyes, but noticed there were a number of others on the shelf with the same problem. Something to be aware of...

            Discover Sounds Kitchen
            Made by Little Tikes
            Age Group: 9 months - 3 years
              Amazon base price: $29.99
Play kitchens are favorite toddler toys, but they often take up a tremendous amount of space. This scaled-down version provides all sorts of fun activities and fits neatly in even the smallest of rooms. The unit itself stands approximately 16.5 inches tall, 22 inches wide, and 8.5 inches deep. There's a refrigerator with a bright yellow door that has a shape sorter on the outside: insert the shapes, then push the button, and the shapes drop into the waiting pot just like an icemaker dispensing ice. Open the refrigerator drawer and just look at all the (sticker) food on the pretend shelves! The red microwave and white oven have functional, bright green doors. A purple sink and countertop sport a white faucet and blue burner. Turn the yellow timer knob below the burner and the timer ticks and rings. Set the included, smiling orange frying pan on the burner and the imaginary food immediately starts to sizzle. Place the smiling green pot on the stove and listen to pretend water bubble and boil. Also included are an oversized measuring spoon and spatula, a phone with a wall bracket, and three plastic shapes for the shape sorter/ice dispenser. Let's get cooking! --Tami Horiuchi

New version to be released in August
FYI- this kitchen has been redesigned by little tikes and the new version will be released in August according to their website.

              Wonderful first kitchen
I bought this kitchen for my 9 month old daughter and she loves it! She loves to sit in front of it and open the doors on it. She also likes the sounds that it makes. She sits in front of it and will play with it for quite a while. We also have the nesting pots and she uses those with it. I agree with one of the other reviewers that it does tip easily if pushed against and should be braced against something to be on the safe side for babies. I would recommend that the age range of the toy be changed from 9-36 months to 9-24 months. 2 year olds usually want to play with a kitchen they can stand at that is bigger. This is a wonderful toy and I also bought the Discovery workshop for my friends 9 month old son and he loves it!

              This is the BEST TOY!!!
I cannot say enough good things about this kitchen! We bought it when our daughter was 9 months old, and she still plays with it at 16 months. She has honestly played with this more than any other toy she's gotten. I try to alternate groups of toys (as she gets bored easily), but this is one that is a constant.

I remember how thrilled we were that she figured out the shapes (ice cubes in the refrigerator door) the day we gave it to her, and we feel it helped her figure out other toys with shapes. She also quickly discovered how to get the dishes to make the cooking sounds, and she loves that! She carries the phone around everywhere and puts all kinds of things in the oven, refrigerator and microwave--only to be tickled when she finds them later! An added bonus is that the utensils make a great teether.

Since this adorable kitchen keeps her busy for quite awhile, I don't mind it being a part of our living room decor. We also used to put it right in the playpen! It's very durable, just the right height, and easy to clean. When others come over, this is what gets played with the most. I HIGHLY recommend it for your child, and I'm picky! :)

Busy babies and toddlers will adore this nifty, petite workshop with dozens of things to see, explore, and do. From the hammer and bench with silly sound effects (boing!) to bright and colorful shapes and balls to send through differently shaped holes, curious little ones will be engaged in role-play and skill-building fun. It also includes a shape sorter, a clicker "ruler" for early counting, a put-and-take door--13 accessories in all. Less than 2 feet tall, it stands easily on the floor. There are plenty of tools, gadgets, storage bins, paint buckets, and even a cell phone. This imagination station does not collapse for compact storing; however, the doors and bins do allow for easy storage of all the bits and pieces. --Melissa Wilson

Tons of fun for my son!
My son got this toy for his first birthday and loves it. He plays with it all the time for long periods of time. He loves putting the balls in the drill press and pushing the button to make them pop out. He does it over and over. He also loves to put the shapes in the little door, close the door, then open and take them out. This toy is really durable and will take being climbed on and pushed around. I do wish it was a little sturdier. However, I think my son likes knocking it over and pushing it around!

                What's the BIG DEAL!!??
My son got this toy for a 1st birthday gift. He loves it, AS A STEP STOOL!!!! He never plays with it, only to climb the thing to reach the unreachable. It is cute though, and might be good for a less active toddler. It makes noises, and I like the bright colors and shape sorting aspect, but really it's not worth 30.00.

Fun But A lot of Parts
We love this toy the only thing we find wrong with it is the parts. It has tons of them so you are constantly looking for balls, pails, buckets, the shapes and the hammer. But we would not trade it for the world because our daughter loves to sit and play with it for quite some time. We also like the fact it is a tool bench and we gave it to our little girl so she will grow up with as minium gender bias as possible. It gives her the feeling that if daddy can play with tools so can I! At the end of the night my husband and I round up the parts and put it back together for the nest day. WORD OF CAUTION: We love Little Tikes but everytime we get a product (this is the 5th time it has happened to us) from them we always open the box and a part is missing so you might want to check the box before you leave the store.

                Easy-Bake Oven and Snack Center
                Made by Hasbro
                Age Group: 8 - 10 years
                  Amazon base price: $19.99
Children love toys that help them master grown-up activities such as cooking and caring for others. That's the attraction to Hasbro's Easy-Bake Oven & Snack Center, where kids can create real miniature baked goods to share. Young chefs also can use a special warming tray on the top of the oven to melt cheese or chocolate for dips and toppings. Designed for safety, the 14-by-7-by-7-inch electric oven is heated with a 100-watt light bulb that's installed behind a secure panel. Children move food items in and out of the baking chamber by using a long-handled, plastic "pan pusher" that keeps small hands out of harm's way. Each set includes two 3-inch round baking pans, two tiny cooking utensils, a warmer cover, two warming cups, a pan pusher, and a recipe booklet. Three cooking mixes are also provided. You'll need to contribute the light bulb, assembly with a Phillips screwdriver, and a good deal of adult supervision. --Joan DeClaire

                  A very good toy
I think that this toy is very good quality and it is a must for children of all ages.

FUN:This toy is very fun. Kids will love that they have their own oven to cook in and will be very proud of what they baked.

EDUCATIONAL:This is a very educational toy. It teaches responsibilty and the basics of cooking.

DURABLE:THis toy is extremely durable. My old one was given to me for free from my friend; who had bought it from a garage sale 7 years ago! So I'm sure that this is a good one.

Overall, a very very good toy! It sure beats the heck out of using moms big ovenand getting burned! The only problem is finding cheap mixes. I solved that by making my own!( Search for "easy bake oven recipes" on google)

too much supervision and mixes too expensive
My 7 year old daughter received the oven for Christmas and has really enjoyed baking cakes and cookies for her family and for her and her brother to devour. I like the concept of the toy (and I was always upset that I never had one as a child). It does teach a little about cooking such as measuring and mixing and baking times. However, it requires way too much adult supervision as I have to help her with the mixing of the very small amounts of mix and with the cleanup. Basically all she does is pour the mix in the bowl, measure the water and stir a little (I always have to get it completely mixed up) and then she puts it in the oven and takes it out. The frostings in particular are very hard for her to mix and she never has enough for the little cake. Beware before you buy that the boxes of mix are very expensive. For approx. $5 you get 2 cake mixes and 2 frostings. This makes 2 cakes about 4 inches in diameter. Although my daughter loves the oven, I think she has just as good a time helping me bake. Regular cake mixes are much easier to mix as is the regular frosting you buy. We are going to try some regular cake mix in the easy bake oven as someone here suggested and hopefully that will turn out good. Otherwise I cant see myself or my daughter using her allowance to purchase the $5 mix that makes 2 teeny tiny cakes. Also, be sure you have a regular 100 watt bulb. I thought we were all prepared but we only had soft white bulbs which could not be used. This caused us some grief until my husband could get to the store.

                    a good early buy
i bought this when my daughter was just over six months old, which was a little early. but just a few months later as she could pull up she loved it. the little buzzy bee was a big hit. even today at two years old she still plays with this on a daily basis. now when people her send her postcards from around the world she places it in her mailbox.

THIS TOY SAVED PICTURE DAY @ TARGET PHOTO STUDIOS
My 2 year old and then 7 month old were having their periodic pictures taken at Target Photo Studio as usual. My 2 year old, was not having a good day since he didn't nap well and the great lengths the photographer will go to get a smile wasn't working well as it usually does (she's usually sweating at the end of every one of my kids' sessions!). This toy was in the waiting area along with the other toys and my son immediately took to it. He insisted on having it in the room with him so we brought it in to play with inbetween pictures. My son, being stubborn had to have it on the platform with him when it was his turn. To keep him happy we kept the mailbox up there just out of view in the shot. His pictures turned out great with a good smile even though the plastic toy envelopes are in the pictures with him! This toy is wonderful, lots of fun and worth every penny.

Charming toy for the entire family
I recently bought this adorable toy for my seven month old son, and love it. He sits and plays with it for longer than any of his other toys (about 20 minutes). I also have a three year old daughter and she plays with it as well. If you are looking for a charming, simple, durable toy that your child can play with for many years to come this is a good choice.

                    Sweet Magic Kitchen
                    Made by Fisher-Price
                    Age Group: 36 months - 6 years
                      Amazon base price: $89.99
Budding young pastry chefs can get some early training in the culinary arts with this pretend kitchen. Kids can make, bake, and decorate toy goodies in this workstation, which includes a refrigerator, overhead pantry, and side storage for ingredients; a stovetop with burners and knobs and an oven for cooking treats; and a sink for cleaning up. The magic oven appears to actually "bake" the seven different sweets that come with the kitchen by changing their color when "cooked." Kids can refer to the built-in cookbook to see what treats should look like before and after baking. An icing bag with a soft tip lets kids decorate their masterpieces after they come out of the oven. Other vital kitchen accessories in the set include a mixing bowl, a baking dish, two serving plates, a potholder, a pitcher, two water goblets, a spatula, a fork, a spoon, a whisk, a cake stand, four cake toppers, cake mix, a milk carton, an egg, and a phone. The oven operates on three D batteries (not included). --Cristina Vaamonde

                      boring
We had bought this kitchen for my 20 month old daughter after we saw how much fun she had with a garage sale 1950's kitchen that a freind had. We chose the higher price tag kitchen hoping it would grow with her and for the snazzy picture on the box.

                      This kitchen is BORING!!
Only the stove makes noise or lights up and it cooks too long.
It does not have a sprayer for the sink and the pantry is too high. Also none of the accesories fit in the pantry. Also small children are not intrested in specially preparing to cook and have colors change they just want to walk up and play with it.
And the kitchen comes with lady bug stickers which once applied I could not remove and my daughter is afraid of them.
Even when she does attempt to play with this toy " she ends up yelling bug the whole time. I am very upset that I made a rash decision and paid (...) for this kitchen that is not up to parr when this will probably be the only kitchen she has. It would not make sense to buy yet another.

{Parents this is just one more reason to always check the online reveiw of toys)

                      Not worth the money!
We bought this for our daughters 3rd birthday. The kitchen we wanted to get her was not in stock at the time. She picked this one out, I think because of the colors and cookies in the picture.

I was not happy with it but I figured she liked it so that is all that mattered.

After it was put together I realized I really didn't like it and wanted to return it.

The refrigerator was cheesy, the plastic that it was made of was the kind that if she or her soon to be climbing brother climbed on it it would break into sharp pieces.

Every time she opened the oven door, it would hit her toes. I had to remember to freeze the part that goes in the oven so it would bake the dessert which I always forgot to do. Plus it was in our basement which is a bit on the cool side so the food never went back to the uncooked state.

The knob to turn on the oven was hard for me to move let alone my 3 year old.

I was not happy with this toy and I love Fisher Price toys too. (...)P>The only good thing about this kitchen was the play cups, they were cute.

                      Great Kitchen for Two
I got this for my two and four year old for christmas 2003. They play all the time with it. Remembering to keep the color changing device frozen can be hard but they play just as much without it. The oven door was a little hard to open at first but it has been broken in and works great now. I did not put this toy together so I do not know about the hardships of it. All I know is my girls love it and use it almost everyday. It came with two sets of color accessories so that worked out great. Even though one does not work as well as the other it pacifies the urge to not share.
