Monkey Puppet
Made by Folkmanis Inc.
Age Group: 36 months - 9 years
    Amazon base price: $19.99
Make a little monkey business with this gorgeous puppet, whose thick, lush coat and tail are made of contrasting browns. The puppet's hands, feet, ears, and face are made of a dark beige fabric, and his nose is perched atop his oversize mouth, the inside of which is a darker brown. Large plastic button eyes finish off his expressive face. The puppeteer's hand is inserted through the bottom of the body, and fingers fit in the upper arms and mouth. Wonderfully detailed, this monkey puppet is 23 inches long and 8 inches wide. Surface washable with cold water. --Peggy Etra

    Cute monkey
My music teacher Had a puppet (a monkey)and the whole class loved it. The name was EGABDF (notes of the staff). Onen day my friend called me and told me were to find EGABDF (here on computer) so I bought it. We both named them after the real EGABDF (she got it for her birthday before I orded it). Since they have the same name we decided mine would be girl hers would be boy. So for short mine is Ega and hers is Egg. I love this puppet and I am 11 years old.

    Best Puppet Maker I've found
We have several Folkmanis puppets including this monkey. My kids (both preschoolers) have been playing with this toy off and on for over a year and a half. It shows very little wear. Their favorite game is "pull the monkey's tail" which should tell you how durable it is. The fur is wonderfully soft, it's easy to make it come off as expressive. It is a little large for small hands to work. ...I have been so pleased with the quality of this company's product that I don't mind spending a little bit more or searching for them.

    Incredibly FUN and animated.
I agree...I just bought this puppet at FAO Schwartz...incredible...best toy my 2 year old has ever had...plus if i make the puppet tell my son what to do, he always listens to the monkey...so real and workable that my son feels he is in the monkey's world...

    Dragon Puppet
    Made by Folkmanis Inc.
    Age Group: 36 months - 9 years
      Amazon base price: $49.99
Once upon a time, in a kingdom far away, there was a magical dragon with golden eyes and shining wings of emerald green. A ridge of massive scales ran from his head to the very end of his tail. Steam puffed from his flared nostrils, and he had a long, forked, blood-red tongue--okay, okay... we were imagining the steam. But this Dragon Puppet is one of the hottest we've seen. He's over 2 feet long with his tail uncurled (he was asleep when we measured), and crafted of rich, velvety green plush with a creamy fur underbelly. His quilted wings and ears are satin, and the scales that line his back don't pose much threat to the valiant knight--they're made of felt. Depending on the story line, his wide-eyed expression could easily be read as friendly or malevolent. The pocket where you place your hand is hidden between his wings, so he perches on your arm--or some other surface--while you work those beastly jaws. But have no fear, fair princess... he's toothless. --Julie Ubben

      Best Dragon Ever
Menace is our dragon. We all love him. He is snuggled every night and played with every day. He goes on every trip we take. I don't think we could live without Menace, so a replacement body has already been obtained to wait in the closet should Menace ever wear out his current body. We are a Catholic family and we don't usually endorse reincarnation, but in this case we will make an exception. We have given this some thought after six years with the same dragon. Menace still looks pretty good even if he has come down with a slight case of the Velveteen Rabbit Syndrome (he still has all his faculties, but you can tell he's been on many adventures and enjoyed many snuggles). Be careful if purchasing this dragon, he is "bitey" and "naughty" and will refuse to share any treat unless he really loves you in which case you can have a little bit. Also, he does not like to be called a "snuggle dragon" - that will cause a fit of biting and name calling and threats to use his fire. None of us has seen any fire yet, so we think he may be bluffing. He actually snapped at the valet at the Ritz-Carlton Maui one time for patronizing him. Menace is also very sensitive about the fact that he does not have any teeth, although we are rather glad of it because he can be so "bitey." Please only adopt a dragon if you will really love it. We worry about dragons going to homes unwilling to give the love and snuggles and treats and attention needed to feed and care for a dragon.

This dragon is better than a teddy bear.
I recieved an early version of one of these outrageous fellows when i was barely four on christmas..i soon adopted it and based a love for dragons around it. It took place for a teddy bear in my life. Now it sits in my room happily, although I do not play with it as much, being older and all. But I highly recommend this toy for kids. The puppeting vaule is also great because of the moveable arms and great mouth, I had put on many shows for my family. GREAT TOY. Feel free to buy it for some little kid like i was.

      A cuddly dragon puppet...
As a dragon lover, I bought that dragon puppet about three months ago, and it's just beautiful ! This plump little dragon is really gorgeous, fun to operate, and really sweet to cuddle ; he really deserves to be the very next item on your dragon purchase list, and he's just perfect for any fantasy-related room deco, or as a lovable pillow-pal on your bed... You may pretend to be a dragon-slayer, if you want, but you'll be quickly overwhelmed by how soft and cuddly he is !...

      Darwin the Wizard Marionette
      Made by Bozart
      Age Group: 5 - 9 years
        Amazon base price: $29.99
Darwin the Wizard has a huge task ahead of him: to find his book of spells before it gets into the hands of someone with evil intentions. He is a beautifully designed and well-made plastic marionette. Daniel Oates, world-famous sculptor, designed him so that even youngsters can operate him comfortably. His special color-coded attachment system makes it almost impossible to tangle the strings, and the simple hinge movement of the puppet makes him easy to manipulate. Darwin's dark blue cape and hat with stars and moons lend him an air of authenticity, and his wild eyes and wild white hair let us know he's appropriately nutty. Your child will gladly take the reigns and help in Darwin's search for his book of wizardry. --Sandy Hirsch

If ever a Wiz there was...
After reading other great reviews here on the site I decided to purchase this both for my son (and me too). Even with high expectations before it arrived we were all still amazed and excited by all the nifty things this puppet could do once we got it out of the box, and how easy it is for even a 4-year-old to manipulate. We had no idea his mouth was movable too... all with just four strings. I get requests for the Wizard to read bedtime stories for my son (alas, Dad gets superceded sometimes) and I think I'm having as much fun as my son with this great toy. I'm sure we'll have the dragon and unicorn before Xmas...

The perfect birthday or holiday gift
The Bozart marionettes are the PERFECT birthday, holiday or even "baby" (or, "sibling") gift for a child of ANY age, of either gender, and the price: absolutely unbeatable. Frankly, Darwin and all the other marionettes should surpass beanie babies or, and this dates me, cabbage patch dolls. They are incredible gifts---they excite any child's imagination, encourage dexterity, are EASY to use, can be enjoyed for years, and kept forever. I consider these marinettes collector's items--after all, they are incredibly artistic (which is not surprising since they are designed by a renowned artist!), durable, and timeless (to be equally enjoyed by the next generation! ). I can think of no better gift for any age child-- even my college-age child took two from my stockpile and they are hanging like mobiles in HIS room! I sincerely recommend that every (too)busy gift-giver do what I did--buy a half-dozen; store them away so you have the perfect, unbelievably appreciated gift when you need one.

        Such fun!
My 5 year old was insistant on getting a marionette for his birthday. I was sure it would be too difficult for him and the strings would frustrate him ...BUT I WAS WRONG! This toy was GREAT! The face and body is high quality, the string system is easy to use and my five year old had instant success with his first puppet. He's still playing with this birthday toy.

          Grandson loves this cat!
I originally bought this for his sister, but the 22 month old loves this cat so much, it's now "his". The "fur" stays very nice, even with lots of baby drool, etc. It fits little hands very nicely. There is a button in the cat's head that you can press and it will "meow", which makes it all that much more fun.

            fun, fun, fun!
Of all the Animal Alley puppets, this is my favorite. My husband was mad I bought it for my students and not for him. One note- some Animal Alley puppets do not allow you to slip your fingers into the arms to move them, which doesn't make much of a puppet, but the Dragon puppet allows you to move the arms easily. If you really work at it, you can get your fingers up in his head and move the mouth, too, but don't expect a child to be able to do that with ease. The dragon is cuddly and huggable like a stuffed animal, and just adorable. My students are helping him learn how to get along with others and manage his anger. He's also great as just a toy to imagine with.

              Heaven Needs Firemen!
We at Puppet2Puppet Puppet Play Productions have used this puppet in our many productions of "Heaven Needs Firemen." This wonderful puppet is versatile and durable. Wonderful puppet. Reminds me of Sesame Street
This darling puppet was a Christmas present for my 4 year old daughter. She had lots of wonderful toys but loves her puppets the best. The Fireman puppet is one of her favorites. It reminds me of the puppets from Sesame Street. It's a bigger size puppet and very easy to for her to maneuver. The colors are really bright. It's such a wonderful puppet. I was very pleased with the quality. It's definately worth the price...

              Lace-a-Puppet
              Made by Lauri
              Age Group: 5 - 8 years
                Amazon base price: $12.99
Here's a fun lacing project with a great payoff--brightly colored felt hand puppets. Winner of the Oppenheim Toy Portfolio's Gold Seal Award, this kit helps children develop better hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity. It also provides nice opportunities for artistic expression and creative play. The kit comes with six 9-inch precut felt shapes, lacing yarn, and six large plastic needles, each ball-tipped for safety. Once children finish lacing, they can use felt remnants (also included) to add faces, clothes, and other decorations to their puppets. They can also use whatever decorating supplies you might have on hand, such as glitter, sequins, pasta pieces, beads, or extra yarn. This is a great project for individuals or groups. You'll need your own white craft glue. And if you're planning a puppet show with the finished products, be sure to allow several hours for the glue to dry. --Joan DeClaire

                Easy, and Fun!
I have 3 kids, ages 3. 7 and 8. This kit was fun for ALL of them! The needles are easy to use and safe, we had so much fun, even I made a puppet, and then they had hours of fun playing with them! I highly recommend this kit. I used a hot glue gun to make putting the faces on a little easier.

                Lauri Lace-a-Puppet
My 5 year old daughter received this puppet kit and absolutely loves it! It is so easy to sew with the plastic needles that even my 3 year old son (who gets very easily frustrated) does great with it! I am buying another set today for my 3 year old niece.

                Snowy Owl Puppet
                Made by Folkmanis Inc.
                Age Group: 36 months - 10 years
                  Amazon base price: $24.99
Puppets nurture the imagination, inspire creativity, develop interactive play, and expand language. This reviewer has found them to be excellent tools for teaching foreign languages--children will comfortably experiment when manipulating a puppet, but not when simply talking to a friend. As children mature, they are able to use puppets in a more sophisticated manner that will help them last a good long time.

Snowy Owl is well made and true to form with her white and gray spotted fur. The texture of her leather beak and talons gives her an air of authenticity, and her large glass eyes ringed with thick white fur won't miss a rodent. A plastic stick inside Snowy Owl's body lets you rotate her head 360 degrees. With a wingspan of 22 inches, she will play a prominent role on the puppet stage. --Sandy Hirsch

                  Fun puppet... actually quite awesome
I bought this one and the Emperor Penguin puppet for my baby... she loves them both.

The owl is awesome, soft... the head rotates all the way around via a stick inside. I can maneuver the wings and head at the same time with one hand, which really entertains my daughter.

                  Cuddly and interactive
This snowy owl is a part of my plush/puppet collection, and I don't regret the addition. The head can be turned and the wings flapped with your hand, and patches of velcro allow the wings to be folded back realisticly when not spread. The material is very soft, and the beak and talons are leather, not plastic. My only nitpick is that the feet have only three claws, when they should have four. However, this small inaccuracy shouldn't stop anyone from adding it to their collection.

                  Gorgeous toy
This is one of my favorite owls and favorite puppets. You really need to see it to appreciate just how gorgeous it is. The only drawback that I have found is in trying to fasten the wings back into the "at rest" position. They seem to pull too tightly on the owl. Of course, that could just be on mine.

                  Delilah the Unicorn Marionette
                  Made by Bozart
                  Age Group: 5 - 9 years
                    Amazon base price: $24.99
Meet Delilah, another charming creation from the imaginative world of renowned artist Daniel Oates. She's a gorgeous, bright-eyed unicorn marionette with a fiery orange mane and tail and lips that rival those of Julia Roberts. Constructed of scratch-resistant, lavender plastic, Delilah stands 13 inches tall from the tip of her spiraling, opalescent horn to the bottoms of her hooves. Suspend her from the special elastic connecting design and watch as the slightest efforts make her come alive. Her legs and neck consist of six large rubber beads threaded with the marionette strings, giving her fluid movement and helping prevent frustrating tangles. --Liane Thomas

                    Best Present!
We purchased this marionette for our daughter's 7th birthday. She was fascinated at once and has not lost interest in this toy since. She's become very creative in developing storylines for Eunice (as she's named her). The manufacturers have developed a simple color coded system which makes this toy easy for children to untangle, and the marionette is very expressive and durable. It's not at all surprising that this product has won a highly coveted toy award. We most highly recommend it!

                    excerpt from daniel oates page
Delilah the Unicorn is a very shy and cautious creature. Her magical horn is highly prized so she would rather avoid most people, but she frequently leaves the forest to come to the aid of those in great need of her magical powers. Her extraordinary sense of intuition has many-a-time saved the day. Although she is soft-spoken and remains mostly silent, she is in fact the smartest character of them all and can speak almost any language. She's a listener and listens to all the things in nature around her. So when she puts forward an idea or even has a strong premonition it is best to heed her advice. The others rarely do though. Only in hind sight do they realize the wisdom of her advise.

                    Adorable marionette!
I think I'll have as much playing with Delilah as my kids. It is so cute and has a lot of personality. I was impressed by its quality and it seems to be just the right size.

WELL MADE SO WORTH THE MONEY !!!
My 9 month old and I LOVE this book, and it is a wonderful toy to play with together. I look forward to when she starts talking and can maybe start voices the characters too! She also plays with it on her own. It is extremely well made and has stayed together admirably (especially considering all tugging and pulling a toy like this invites!) I agree with all the positive reviews!!! (Also loved the "peek-a-boo monkey" cube by Folkmanis . . .GREAT for peek-a-boo games if you're looking for more 'together time' toys!)
