Tool Reviews

symmetry, so the Zome System was right up my alley.
I bought it for a big kid--me!
I also recommend getting the book "Zome Geometry",
which provides exercises, directions, and "challenges"
to really get you experimenting and thinking
analytically. Apparently Amazon only offers the
Pioneer Kit, and I noticed many reviewers suggesting
the purchase of multiple kits. Hopefully, Amazon (Toys
R Us) will start offering some of the larger kits;
beyond the Pioneer kit (121 pieces), you can also find
the 242-piece Adventurer kit, all the way up to the
1308-piece Advanced Math Kit (which also includes
advanced "green" struts for constructing truly fantastic
shapes).
Zome allows you to build an endless variety of figures:
pyramids, cubes, prisms, dodecahedrons (12-sided ball),
and far beyond--whatever your imagination comes up with,
while giving you the chance to learn geometry in a
"hands-on" way.
I highly recommend this "toy" for kids, teachers, or
anyone fascinated with geometric figures.

The problem is that just like the rest of The Home Depot toys they are poorly built. After 6 weeks the drill press no longer works. 2 months seems to be the lifespan of all The Home Depot power tools. He is not a child that throws his toys so they break under normal use.
There are some other brands out there in the same price range that last much longer.

The model can be painted, for added fun. The only caveat I have is, after buying two or three of these kits, you have a bunch of small screwdrivers collected (each kit comes with one small screwdriver). After awhile, you really don't need more screwdrivers! I think it would be reasonable to leave the screwdriver out, and let kids borrow a screwdriver from an adult's toolkit.

Clever Design & Very Realistic Sounding ToolsThere are a few things I would improve on with this set:
1. Make the drill bit actually "disappear" when you drill (similar to Little Tikes) so it really feels like you're drilling into the floor
2. Improve on the measuring tape construction...ours already won't retract
3. Finally, make it easier to get out of the package! It took two adults (and a couple sliced finger tips) before everything was removed.
Overall, this was a great buy for us!

My son loves this

The listener works really well and has been dropped a 100 times but it never broke.
The light is cool because if you aren't alowd to be up or in a place your not supposed to be you can go there.
The microscope is tiny so no one knows what it is ( unless you tell them) at all which is cool.
The note pad is I think edible so try it.
The pencil is gold so that you can see it more cleary.
All in all, get this now!
In fact, this is the one toy my 8-year-old son played with the most after Christmas.
For pint-sized spies everywhere...

The mower is a great toy that keeps him running and walking and generally working out all his excess energy. The best part is the look of satisfaction on his face when he shows you his freshly mowed carpet or lawn. He's so proud!
Actually my son is 3 and has had it for a year and I would bet he has pushed it for 20+ miles following me around the yard. If you have a toddler that likes "bullbozers" and "dumpstrucks" then this is your toy.
FUN, FUN , FUN!!!
