    Grandma from NM
Got this for my grandson who's very hard to buy for. He was so excited about this set and works with it all the time. He's asked his parents to buy him the additional pieces so he can construct bigger things. Great item!

so fun, they'll never know it's "educational"
I've always been fascinated by geometric shapes and
symmetry, so the Zome System was right up my alley.
    I bought it for a big kid--me!
I also recommend getting the book "Zome Geometry",
which provides exercises, directions, and "challenges"
to really get you experimenting and thinking
analytically. Apparently Amazon only offers the
Pioneer Kit, and I noticed many reviewers suggesting
the purchase of multiple kits. Hopefully, Amazon (Toys
    R Us) will start offering some of the larger kits;
beyond the Pioneer kit (121 pieces), you can also find
the 242-piece Adventurer kit, all the way up to the
1308-piece Advanced Math Kit (which also includes
advanced "green" struts for constructing truly fantastic
    shapes).

Zome allows you to build an endless variety of figures:
pyramids, cubes, prisms, dodecahedrons (12-sided ball),
and far beyond--whatever your imagination comes up with,
while giving you the chance to learn geometry in a
    "hands-on" way.

I highly recommend this "toy" for kids, teachers, or
    anyone fascinated with geometric figures.

    A very good toy!
I have a Zome set myself and have enjoyed it very much. It isn't a "one-design" kit like some I've seen. It's much more fun when you aren't restricted to only one object to make. Some advice: a larger set can make something so large that kids can fit inside...

      Fun Toy, Not durable
My 3 yr old son received this for his birthday. Both he and his older siblings loved it for 2 days until the shaft broke in 2 places. Extremely disappointed with the durability

      He loves it
My son received this as a gift at his second birthday party. He absolutely loved it then and still does a month later. It was a definite hit with other kids at the party too. Ash figured out what buttons he had to push to "crank" it within minutes. He has been trimming weeds ever since!

        A keeper!
I bought 2 of this for 2 3-yr-olds at my son's daycare. They happened to be Bob the Builder fans and really loved this toolset!

Build Fine-Motor Skills with a favorite toy!
Besides being one of my son's favorite toys, I feel great about him playing with it all the time because he is building on his fine motor skills. Also, it is adorable to watch him follow his father around the house when his father fixes things. Cleap up is made easy by the tool box that comes with it - and this toy is holding up unbelivablly well considering how quickly my son's toys normally break!

          My little guy's favorite toy!!
I have an almost two year old. My parents bought this for him to play with at their house because he loves grandpa's real tools. It's by far the best toy he has - period. He loves all of the different tools that it comes with and they are very durable! I don't think it will ever wear out! He also has the power tool set that is separate. It lights up and he loves the noise it makes. This set really helps the young ones with coordination!!!

Lots of fun, but doesn't last
My son loves this tool set. He likes to wear the tool belt and stuff it full of all his tools. The drill press is definately his favorite part.
The problem is that just like the rest of The Home Depot toys they are poorly built. After 6 weeks the drill press no longer works. 2 months seems to be the lifespan of all The Home Depot power tools. He is not a child that throws his toys so they break under normal use.
There are some other brands out there in the same price range that last much longer.

              Excellent model
This model was a lot of fun to put together. It's easy enough that it won't frustrate younger kids, but has enough pieces and is interesting enough that older kids -- even thirty-three year old kids -- will have fun. The wood and screw model is quite sturdy during the building process, but be aware that the final result more of a model than a toy. The wheels do turn and the dump truck bed raises and lowers, but not always smoothly.

The model can be painted, for added fun. The only caveat I have is, after buying two or three of these kits, you have a bunch of small screwdrivers collected (each kit comes with one small screwdriver). After awhile, you really don't need more screwdrivers! I think it would be reasonable to leave the screwdriver out, and let kids borrow a screwdriver from an adult's toolkit.

The Home Depot 42-piece Power Tool Set
              Made by Toys "R" Us

This is a big (42-piece) set of plastic tools, enough to equip a comprehensive play workshop. Three battery-powered tools with sound effects are included: a drill, saw, and sander. Then there's a plane, T-square, working plastic tape measure, pipe wrench, pliers, hardhat, tool belt, nuts, bolts, screwdrivers, and much more. The power tools require two AA batteries each (not included). --Richard Farr

                Non-stop fun!
I bought this for my nephew who is 2-1/2 and he just loves it! It's his favorite toy and has kept him engaged non-stop for the past 3 months and running. He takes the toys with him everywhere and even to bed each night and they're also the first thing he asks for in the morning. Because there are so many different tools, he never gets bored and because they look and sound real (some even work), he tries to figure out how things work and to fix things with them.

A Must Have For Every 'Bob The Builder' Fan!
This set is great! My 2-1/2 year old nephew has not stopped playing with it since Christmas morning. The only time he pays attention to the other toys he received is when he's 'fixing' them. You could not possibly ask for more out of a $20.00 tool set. I would make two recommendations if you buy this: 1)Go to your local K-Mart, Target, Walmart, whatever and pick up an inexpensive (but real) plastic tool box to store all the stuff in (I got one for $5.00) and 2) you absolutly want to take everything out of the packaging and get the batteries installed before presenting as a gift. The package is sealed like Fort Knox and the power tools all require a screwdriver to install the batteries.

Clever Design & Very Realistic Sounding Tools
This was the hit of our Christmas...even the adults took a long break to play with it. The best part of this set is how realistic the tools sound; I was convinced that my daughter was cutting away part of our coffee table. The drill works both in forward AND reverse. Plus, you can actually screw or drill pieces of plastic wood together...so fun for my toddler. The tool belt is pretty cheesy plastic (and definitely needs a better latch) but each holder is labeled with a picture so my daughter has enjoyed making sure each tool is in its proper place.

There are a few things I would improve on with this set:

                1. Make the drill bit actually "disappear" when you drill (similar to Little Tikes) so it really feels like you're drilling into the floor

                2. Improve on the measuring tape construction...ours already won't retract

                3. Finally, make it easier to get out of the package! It took two adults (and a couple sliced finger tips) before everything was removed.

Overall, this was a great buy for us!

                Home Depot Chainsaw with Sound
                Made by Toys "R" Us
                Age Group: 36 months - 6 years
                  Amazon base price: $
Here's a realistic toy chainsaw, made of sturdy orange plastic with a black handle and a blue knuckle guard. The "blade" is made of silver-colored plastic and has a kid-safe plastic chain. The chainsaw has three blue buttons. One press-type button makes an engine-y sort of noise that is truly loud and could be very satisfying for the would-be logger. Luckily it stops on its own after about five seconds. So does the trigger-type button on the handle that makes the chain on the blade move while making more saw-like sounds. This is where the real action of the toy is, and it sounds very much like a real chainsaw. This toy has some nice heft, but it isn't too heavy for a preschooler. It requires two AA batteries (included). --M. Sullivan

                  tooo loud
My son loves the toy, however it appears that the toy is too loud for indoor play, I would recommend that this toy be played outdoors.

                  Great toy
My 2 year old got this for xmas. He plays with it nearly every day. It has not needed new batteries yet (5 months)It is quiet, too.

                  My son loves this
My son received this chain saw for his 2nd birthday and he absolutely loves it. He even likes to sleep with it. It sounds very real, is very sturdy, and a really good toy.

                  Spy Tool Kit
                  Made by Wild Planet

                    Amazon base price: $
                    List price: $19.99 (that's NaN% off!)
This handy blue briefcase (cunningly labeled "Spy Kit") contains every tool a budding agent needs to root out any secret. The most vital piece of equipment is a listening device that amplifies distant sounds, perfect for eavesdropping on the enemy! Simply plug in the earphones, unfold the microphone, and point it at your target. Press the button, and you can hear every whisper. The kit also includes a penlight (requires two AAA batteries), and a combination telescope/microscope that can be attached to the listening device for more advanced espionage activities. Agents can keep track of everything they see and hear in the included notebook. The listening device requires one 9-volt battery and you'll need a screwdriver to open the battery compartment, but once everything is set up you'll be ready for action. My second favorite!
I got this toy and it is so cool!

The listener works really well and has been dropped a 100 times but it never broke.

The light is cool because if you aren't alowd to be up or in a place your not supposed to be you can go there.

The microscope is tiny so no one knows what it is ( unless you tell them) at all which is cool.

The note pad is I think edible so try it.

The pencil is gold so that you can see it more cleary.

All in all, get this now!

                    Really works
The microphone works suprisingly well, and I didn't encounter any quality problems the other reviewers commented on.

In fact, this is the one toy my 8-year-old son played with the most after Christmas.

                    For pint-sized spies everywhere...
My son loves this toy! My husband and I thought that for what you get, its a bit pricey, but my in-laws bought it for our son this Christmas. It's pretty neat. The listening device works well. The microscope doubles as a telescope (you just look in the opposite end for each tool.) The whole thing snaps together into one cool looking spy instrument.

                    Little Landscaper Mulching Mower
                    Made by Little Tikes
                    Age Group: 18 months - 3 years
                      Amazon base price: $
A realistically noisy pretend lawn mower with fun visual effects, this one is likely to get a good deal of use by toddlers who want to play grownup. The coolest part of this toy is the see-through plastic mulch compartment. It's full of tiny colored beads that dance around when the mower is in motion, giving the illusion of grass being mulched. An on/off key, gear switch, gas cap, and a loud popping noise add to the entertaining components. Made in typically durable Little Tikes fashion, this toy will stand up to many miles of lawn mowing. --Jane Snyder

                      My Nephew Loves It
My nephew loves his Little Tikes Landscaper mower almost as much as his Little Tikes Cozy Coupe car. When he's not driving, he's out mowing, or in mowing as he often likes to mow his room, the hallway, living room, he doesn't care, he'll mow it all.

The mower is a great toy that keeps him running and walking and generally working out all his excess energy. The best part is the look of satisfaction on his face when he shows you his freshly mowed carpet or lawn. He's so proud!

My son does everything but slep with it....
I bought it for my 15 year old because I can't seem to get him to use the real &%((^_+^+ one.

Actually my son is 3 and has had it for a year and I would bet he has pushed it for 20+ miles following me around the yard. If you have a toddler that likes "bullbozers" and "dumpstrucks" then this is your toy.

                      FUN, FUN , FUN!!!
My now three year old received this mower for his 1st birthday. He played with it all day every day and he still does. It's a durable and fun toy. There are no small peices or parts. Another good thing is there are no sticky bubbles to deal with, the lawn mower makes a little popping noise as the child pushes it, it's really cute. I had to buy another only because my 3 year old would not share with his younger brother (1). This is a great toy overall and it is holding up well for an "outside toy". No weathering effects to worry about either, it's made of sturdy plastic. GREAT!
