Matchbox Magna Wheels Rescue: Blaze Busters Mission 4
Made by Mattel
Age Group: 5 - 7 years
    Amazon base price: $5.29
If only city governments could come up with something like this modular rescue vehicle, they could save a lot of money. Various parts fit together to form numerous rigs with different looks. Assemble a fire engine to race to the scene of a make-believe emergency. Once you've arrived, transform the components to make a crane to perform a rescue operation. We were impressed with how easily the parts fit together even if the range of vehicles that were formed tended to look pretty similar. Adding to the excitement is a yellow plastic barrel that features plastic flames when it's busted open. --Charlie Williams

buyer beware - broken toy inside.
this toy -like all other fisher price toys- was broken when we opened the box.

I have rarely successfully received a fisher price toy with out having to exchange it or return it- and customer service requires you to return the toy before resolving the problem.

Have you tried to take a toy from a child once he/she has opened it?? not very fun.

I will never again buy fisher price/mattel again and will tell all my family to not buy gifts from them either - I recomend the same for you. - all fisher price and mattel must be returned to the store immediately!

Perfect Toy for very clever 5 year old boy
My five year old son, Jack received this toy for christmas from grandma and grandad. What a hit! Jack loves cars and also loves to take things apart and put them back together again. This toy was just the perfect gift for him. We're planning to buy the other five sets in the magna wheels range, how can he live without them! I also have a jounger son, Isak, who is four and also enjoyed Jack's toy, even baby girl (20 months) Zoe, enjoys playing with it. Thanks for a great toy.

Polly Pocket: Snack Time Playset with Polly and Steven Dolls and Two Scooters
    Made by Mattel
    Age Group: 4 - 7 years
      Amazon base price: $14.99
      List price: $19.99 (that's 25% off!)
Polly and her friend Steven are hitting the road for a day of, apparently, scooter riding and snack consumption. Besides posable figures of the adventurers themselves, this set features purple and blue rolling scooters and a snack stand setup, complete with tables and chairs. As with any self-respecting doll set, there are plenty of accessories included to round out the couple's day and enable a variety of pretend-play situations. Thoughtfully, Steven and Polly's outfits match their scooters (blue for him, purple for her) and, mindful of safety, are equipped with helmets. Are Polly and Steven just friends or is there something more going on here? That's not ours to say. We were impressed by this set's versatility and the ease with which the figures can interact with their gear. --Charlie Williams

      Polly Scooters
This toy is pretty cool. The only thing I dislike is how hard it is to keep the people on the scooters without holding on to them. What I do like is how you get to people instead of 1,the colors of the scooters are pretty if you get the set with pastel scooters like I did,and how the boy in the set has brown hair and thats pretty rare. And just to let you know if you already have purcased the polly scooter packages, the girl in this one is the same one. I also would like to say that the snack stand is cardboard but its still pretty durable.

        Fun for Adults!
Toss Across is a classic toy. We purchased this toy because we remembered playing it when we were kids... and I think I'm enjoying it more now than I did twenty years ago. Because it's a mix of skill and luck, anybody can win (kids can beat adults), but it's still a great toy to bet on.

I only wish it held together a little better... the little plastic wedges that are used to hold the support bars tight tend to fall out pretty often (we've already lost one). However...we could always replace the whole thing.

        Great Childhood memories
I am purchasing my second Toss Across...The first one was purchased in the 1970's. I loved it as a child and love it as a mother....This toy adds a physical component to the old Tic Tac Toe game, making it more challenging plus it gets kids off the couch!! Buy it for your children but be sure to play with them!

          Much Better than RC Revenge!
I played RC Re-Volt for the PC, and was *very* impressed with the great graphics, varied gameplay modes, and awesome music. Thinking that its PlayStation sequel, RC Revenge, would be just as good, I got it - and was disappointed. What I should've bought instead was Tyco RC Assault. The car and level graphics are some of the best I've seen on the PlayStation. The cars themselves are incredibly fun, and their ability to do the special transformations (one of them transforms to twice its width, while another pulls out a giant spinning drill) is a really fun gameplay twist. In addition to the excellent single player mode, the two player deathmatches are pretty fun. Tyco RC Assault has so much stuff to unlock, you'll be playing for weeks. This game is definitely a lot of fun, and one of the best kart-style racers on the PSX.

          This game is a keeper!
I bought this game last month, and I can't stop playing. The fact that there are two different experience modes to race with (6Volt and 9Volt) is a great feature for both the traditional gamer as well as the novice beginner. Using actual Tyco R/C cars was another nice touch. I can go to Toys R Us and see the R/C cars that I raced with. There's lots of cars and tracks, and you can race the tracks backwards! The computer controlled cars race like a human player. You never know what they are going to do! And having different play-modes like Battle Mode and the Soccer! What a great idea. My friends and I love to battle each other.

The only problem I had with it is that while playing Two Player in Challenge mode, the game would slow down a little at certain points, when lots of stuff was going on onscreen.

I would recommend this game to my friends.

          Yu-Gi-Oh! Launcher Spider
          Made by Mattel
          Age Group: 5 - 10 years
            Amazon base price: $19.99
Amazon.com doesn't feature a category of toys called "Toys I Wish I Had When I Was A Kid" but if they did, this missile-launching spider would be featured prominently. Coming from the highly imaginative and always slightly bizarre world of Yu-Gi-Oh!, the spider can be programmed to perform three different tasks (walk, run, or fire missiles) in sequence. So if you like, it can run, fire its missiles, and then confidently walk away. Or perhaps walk carefully up to something, fire, and then run like crazy. There are nine variations and the programming is easy. The spider looks vaguely robotic and is decked out in green along with eight orange spring-loaded missiles. Some assembly is required and a detailed instruction manual is included to guide you through the process. Four AA batteries are required but not included. --Charlie Williams

            Tough toy
My 4 y/o son received this as a Xmas gift. He was so excited to see the package and even more excited to see the spider move on his own. Great toy, easy to program. He will not put this one down. Dropped it a few times off the table, legs pop off and click back on.

Lancher Spider the coolest machien around
The toy has that "I want this thing" kick to it. It has
umf and style. Kids would love it! So you Yu-Gi-Oh! Fans
out there have to buy this!

              My kids love it!
We got this toy for my three year old (who loves Dora) at Christmas time. She, my five year old, usually me, leep-over guests, and/oreighbors play it almost every day. Everything is stored there-the chips in a compartment under the game itself, and the cards in back. The Dora figure does tend to fall off, but it isn't neccessary to play the game, nor has that bothered any of the kids. I guess you could glue it. We have lost a couple of tokens, but they can be replaced with regular bingo chips or about anything else for that matter. The cards are quite durable; we had one that sat in water on the table for a while, and, while it is a little warped, it is still fine to use. My sister, who is deaf can play this with them, too, because after Dora says the word, the picture lights up on the board-also good for keeping up in he game. Not to mention that Dora will repeat herself if you push that button. It has two modes of play, and she will dance and sing when someone presses the win button. Also good for my competetive children is the fact that sometimes they will both bingo. Then they both win. They love that. Not the best tool for teaching Spanish, however, but if you are looking to just have fun with your kids-it is worth it!

              needs more
a good game, alot of fun, but neesds more game variety. there is only two games you can play, colors or animals. its a great time, but the game would go farther if it had more game cards with something else, so you could have more variety.

              dora bingo game
A ver fun and educational game And very easy to under stand. My 5 year old loves it but it is getting a bit boring now since there arnt any more back pack or bingo cards. It comes with 1 back pack card that has different color stars on one side and animals on the other side. Also comes with 4 bingo cards.

Happy Family: Midge & Baby Dolls (African American)
              Made by Mattel
              Age Group: 6 - 11 years
                Amazon base price: $9.98
                List price: $19.99 (that's 50% off!)
Barbie’s best friend Midge and her husband Alan (sold separately) are expecting their second child--a little girl! Happy Family Midge has a magnetic, detachable belly (baby fits neatly inside)--which allows her to transform from very pregnant to unnervingly svelte in a matter of seconds. If only it were that easy! While the magnetic belly isn’t the most life-like example for kids, it does allow younger ones to grasp the concept of a baby growing inside mommy. Midge comes dressed in a lavender floral dress, fuchsia heeled mules, pink earrings, and--of course--a wedding ring. Baby’s accessories include a 3-in-1 crib, changing table, and cradle, mattress, blanket, bathtub, two diapers, as well as tiny teddy bear, rattle, monitor, bottle, rubber ducky, and more. Safety information: This product contains magnets. Do not use around items that are sensitive to or affected by magnetic fields. This set also contains small parts and poses a choking hazard for children under the age of three. --M. Wilson

                Not an educational toy
First of all, this gets children asking questions at too young an age. My daughter is 3, and the last thing I want her talking about is pregnancy. There is no way they should have a toy like this for little girls. They should be playing pretend, and dressup. Children are innocent and wonderful, and we shoud protect their innocense, especially at such a wonderful age.

Happy to own Happy Family Midge
I am 28 years old and far too old to be playing with dolls - but that's another story! what's all the fuss about? My mom never liked Barbie herself, a perpetual ice blond with inhuman measurements even the runway models cannot compare to! Barbie doll has probably given a lot of girls a poor self image. I grew up surrounded by little mannequin blonds and never felt un-beautiful at 4'11", raven - haired, and 110 pounds. I still look like a kid, truly. But, Midge is very, very different. My one complaint: the husband and wife should be offered together in a giftset. And - I still handle her with care. I think she can be fragile if knocked about. Mattel gets a lot of money by forcing us adults to "chase" and "hunt" down hard-to-find items. I saw my first C-section birth at the age of 3 on Phil Donahue and knew exactly how I was born and where I came from. I am not married and wouldn't have children unless I were. I believe that the Happy Family is the only positive product line from Mattel's Barbie & Friends. A true freckled strawberry-blond, she breaks the mold with a gentle face. Her hairstyle is simple and irresistible to style. The baby is adorable and, well, not easy to dress, but cradles into Mommy's arms. Her pregnancy belly is huge and can be left on after "delivery" so little ones can get a sense of what very new mommies look like. Her maternity smock is pretty, though the high-heel mules are impossible for a pregnant woman - just ask my girlfriends! And some maternity slacks would have been lovely. Mom bought me the entire line including the nursery, grandparents, Alan & Ryan, and the new Neighborhood series. I substituted the little red - haired girl for Nikki since I can't imagine Midge and Alan having such a tow - headed little child! Ryan is adorable! We use Pool Party Liana as his fraternal twin sister with her red - blond pageboy. Seeing grandparents is a generational twist I have been waiting for since junior high. We also collected the ethnic line and the dolls are beautiful. Midge's maternity dress layette is fabulous if you can find it with a diaper bag and post - partum slacks and shirt. Overall, this is a teriffic married couple with married parents that support a nice family. Kelly and friends and Chrissy baby give little ones the options of "adding" siblings and this a very realistic view if you total accessories. A child can really envision pregnancy and infant care and it can open up a really good discussion.

Are these reviews of the toy or its morals?
Apparently my child has not learned to be a responsible parent yet since she's already lost the baby (being able to attach to Midge's very un-American-sized waist apparently makes for quite a preemie!) Midge obviously doesn't have drive-thrus in her "Happy" town nor worries about varicose veins in those high heels. I'm also not sure how educational this toy is since none of the kids I know came in magnetic pods but since Barbie and pals have no real human parts (even those of you that can't spell have to know what I mean) I guess that's the only option available. I also don't know about having your best friend - who earlier in the year was a "swan princess" and a couple of years ago was a race car driver - deliver your baby but I guess even Malibu Barbie can work magnets. Just keep Midge and friends away from big brother's computer!

A lot of fun even if you don't play with the board
I got this for my husband as a gift and we enjoyed just answering the questions from the DVD, by watching video clips and picture clips, etc. It's like Jeopardy meets Wheel of Fortune with pop culture questions and numerous other variety of trivia and visuals to aid the questions (there are some nifty animated clues). We were quite impressed and our friends sat and played this with us for 2 hours and wanted to keep going. Having a portion of the game on DVD brings a different dimension to the regular board game where you're just reading off cards (there's that in the game, also, so the game is part video and part questions from cards).

                  PERFECT PARTY GAME!!!
I bought this one night when me and a bunch of friends were bored..next thing i know all of us are screaming because the clips are such of old movies and new ones. me and the girls were laughing at the guys because they were the ones who thought it would be a waste of money and they were loving it!!!! so pick up the game!!!!

Barbie Talking Townhouse Pros and Cons
My daughter received this for Christmas. It is a nice toy. It folds for easy storage and comes with plenty of furniture and other items. It was great that we did not have to spend lots of time putting it together. It is also nice that my daughter can move it to where she wants it. On the downside, there are alot of stickers to be put on. My daughter also noticed that while there is a shower, there is no toilet and there is an oven and sink in the kithen but no refigerator.
Overall it is a nice toy and holds up very well (table pops off..no big deal)but there isn't alot of attention to detail!!

I was happy, daughter was disappointed.
I recieved this free during a promotion so I can say I am definatly not out anything, I would not have actually paid for it though. I thought it was pretty nice, it folds up so there is no storaaage, it is light weight and my 5 yr old can move it around the house easily enough. My daughter says it is no good, she said that she always has to put the furniture back in place and that the door bell does not always work, she just overall is disappointed with it, I think it will just depend on the child.

                    Barbie Talking Townhouse
My 6 year old daughter received the talking townhouse for xmas. It was the ONLY thing she wanted from Santa. Well after we got it together and put the stickers on (which were a pain because she wanted to do it herself and kept getting them on wrong and ripping them) It is definitely an adults job) She has not played with it since. Lost interest after only an hour of play. Most certainly not worth the $...I spent, am very dissappointed with this toy. Thank goodness Santa didn't listen and brought other toys for her to enjoy.

I got Barbie and Christie mermaid dolls for my 3 and 3 1/2 year old granddaughters. I was ready to hot glue the tails on until their PaPa just pushed and turned. No more trouble. The girls love them.

The tail stays on if you snap it on...
I love this barbie! her tail was confusing at first but you have to push it in really hard to make it stay on,it will be a small poping noise, that means its in place and will stay on the doll.
                      i want to collect a 3!

                      She's Beautiful!!
What fun bath time is for my 3 and a half year old (and me too!)How I wish they had a mermaid Barbie when I was young. We did have trouble with the tail falling off. I knew about this problem since my daughter has 3 other mermaids. Do yourself a favor and pick up a tube of the GEL CRAZY GLUE. A little dab will do you just fine. These Barbies have been in the tub so many times with no problem as of yet. It's such an easy solution to a not so big problem. Enjoy this beauty with your little one!
