Rainbow Brite: Patty O Green 5 3/4" Doll with Lucky & 20 minute DVD
Made by Mitzi Hong Kong Limited
Age Group: 36 months - 9 years
    Amazon base price: $7.98
    List price: $12.99 (that's 39% off!)
Updated for a new millennium, the Rainbow Brite bunch looks even more interesting than Generation-Xers remember from the 80s. The 5.75-inch dolls all wear creative outfits, like Patty O'Green's "shooshed" sleeves and gigantic sneakers, which can be changed and rearranged. Patty's green yarn hair, caught up in fun twigs atop her head, can also be restyled. Known for her love of practical jokes and all things green, Patty brings along both "Lucky"--a good luck sprite that lights up when you squeeze his body--and an animated DVD. Choking hazard: small parts. --Diane Beall

Reptile Carry Case by Toy Major Trading
My two and a half son loves this set. He makes 'ribbits' and hisses as he plays with the frogs and snakes. He even likes the trees and rocks! Daddy takes the opportunity to point out the differences in the different reptiles, so educational, too. The carrying case is very convenient for storage and taking along on trips. I only wish it included a booklet detailing and catalogueing the reptiles so I could explain them to my son. I will be buying the other sets in this series.

        What a Horse!
My son received this as a birthday gift and he loves it. He is still a bit small to ride it (he's only 18 months - 32.5" tall). Another inch and it will be perfect. For the time being, he will just push it around the house. This product (and Alex toys, in general) is very well constructed. It is also visually impressive. We are looking forward to years of fun with this toy. This horse also rocks more than most, but not enough to be unsafe.

          Puzzle plus an Activity!
I bought this puzzle for my kids, after buying the Secret World Puzzle Ocean version. This is a great series! First, you build the puzzle and then you search for the tiny objects hidden in the picture with the cute, little magnifying glass that comes with it. It is a lot of fun and a great idea.
I must for your kids, especially on rainy days!

            Two toys in One!
Our daughter wanted this toy for her birthday and it was her favorite...we were delighted, too because it was one of the few things that she wanted that wasn't about being a brat or about makeup/fashion.
This is a doll that walks a dog! (well, the dog really pulls the doll, but our daughter loves to say that her doll is walking the puppy). You use a remote control "paw" to direct the dog anywhere you want to go. The amazing thing is that the dog runs around (mostly in circles) and the doll doesn't tip over as she follows the dog! We are as amazed as our daughter is.
The nice thing is that you can play with the doll and dog together or you can play with the doll separately and also use the remote control to play with the dog alone. A lot of value for the money. We are all delighted with this doll. I think it will be a big hit at Christmas (by the way, we later saw that they made the same doll with a a dalamation but it was too late for us...that one looks cute, too!)

Snubbies are a fun toy, but do they really grow? i doubt it, but i don't know for sure. my kids love Snubbies, and own 11 of them, including the Hot Dog Hut with Nina, the normand. Snubbies are not educational, but they are a lot of fun for kids. And i have to admit, they are cute dogs!

It was a great new baby gift
I was given this as a new baby gift and it is still played with 12 months later. It is a great "car" toy. Baby boy plays with this in his car seat very happily.

                  Sing Me to Sleep Pooh
                  Made by Fisher-Price

A soothing alternative to a wind-up nighttime musical toy, this soft plush sleeping Pooh, accompanied by his best friend Piglet, can be placed in a corner of the crib and controlled by remote. Playing the music from a distance means no more sneaking in to rewind a toy and possibly disturb the baby. Pooh is dressed in a blue nightcap and snuggles on a small pillow, which is a plastic music unit covered with cotton. It has a soft flashing light inside and there is an on/off switch underneath. When pressed, Pooh's familiar voice sings a lullaby. The blue plastic remote activates one of three choices--soft, tinkling classical music, a Pooh song, or chirping birds and nature sounds. Parents will need to decide if the hard plastic pillow unit is a safe choice for their child. The unit comes with three AA batteries, but three more are required for the remote. --Marianne Painter

                    My best friend
My husband and I bought Sing Me to Sleep Pooh before our son was born. This is all he needed in the crib to fall asleep. If he woke in the middle of night he would hit the pillow on pooh and when the first song was done he was fast asleep and so was I! He will be three next month and carries him everywhere pretty much. The babysitter has sown piglet back to pooh a million times. We are going to purchase another one for his birthday. The first one was loved to death and it shows. I have given this as baby shower gifts and all the mothers loved it too.

                    The Best!
I love this wonderful pooh and piglet bedtime soother. My son got this for Christmas when he was 5 months old. He loves it and so do I. He really enjoys chewing on piglet's little ears since he is now teething. The remote is wonderful so you don't have to go back into the room and worry about the baby seeing you. It's so relaxing I even love to listen to it. We took it on a long 15 hour trip and it was a lifesaver. Anytime our son got fussy we would just put it on and I could start it up again from the front seat using the remote without having to reach back and get the toy! Once we were at our destination we thought our son would have a hard time sleeping since he was not at home in his crib but having Pooh made him feel like he was home and he would drift off to sleep every time! I highly recommend this to everyone and plan on buying one for my sister who has a hard time getting her baby to sleep. This toy is worth every penny. One last note, I read another review that said this toy goes through batteries quickly but in all honesty we have not had that problem. We use it constantly and have only changed the batteries once since Christmas and even if we had to change them more often, I wouldn't complain because it's so worth it!

                    The sweetest bedtime soother ever!
My five-month-old daughter received this as a Christmas gift, and it has been WONDERFUL. She has always been fairly easy to put to bed, but now it is a breeze with Pooh. Instead of fumbling for an on/off switch, you just tap the pillow to turn it on (which she has done herself inadvertantly while fussing in the middle of the night and subsequently gotten herself calmed down without my getting up). Pooh then sings a sweet lullaby and a soft night light comes on. Next, several songs without words follow, and every couple songs the night light dims gradually until it finally goes out. At that point, there are soft nature sounds accompanied by one or two more songs before it turns itself off. And the remote lets you start from whichever point you like, with Pooh singing plus the light, with the songs and light but no singing, or the nature sounds and music with no light. It is just an absolutely adorable toy, and my two older children love to hear Pooh singing, also. As far as the "hard, plastic pillow" mentioned in another review, this has not been a problem at all. The pillow is covered adequately with a soft filling and cotton cover and I do not see how it could hurt her. She has even reached over and grabbed Pooh and brought the whole thing over onto her mouth to chew on, and it hasn't hurt her yet. I love this toy and I really think these lullabies will be something she equates with soothing, pleasant bedtimes for years to come.

                      fun and addictive
In this game, you live in a town populated by anthropomorphic animals. The game has no end and there is no winning or losing. It is an open-ended communication game.
A main emphasis of the game (in true Nintendo fashion) is on collecting. You can collect sets of furniture and other decorations for your character's house. You can also try to catch all the different types of fish and insects, or dig up all types of the weird, music-making, clay figurines known called gyroids.
The game follows the real time clock. So special days in real life, such as Halloween, New Years, and even meteor showers are also observed within the game. Your town's appearance changes with the seasons as well. For example, in Spring the trees are pink to denote the presence of cherry blossoms.
While the game is very fun for adults (my husband and I both play), it is also very child friendly. It even has some educational value of sorts. A couple examples: the game encourages you to write letters to your animal villagers (thus resurrecting the dying art of letter writing). Also, there is a turnip trading aspect to the game which introduces the concept of investing.
The game only allows one person to play at a time, but up to four people can share a town. A town takes up an entire memory card, but the game comes with a free one. You can visit other people's towns by plugging their memory card into the second slot on the game cube.

In conclusion, this is a very fun and addictive game. The game offers a very long play time (to see everything you have to play at many different times during the year) and, since it is open-ended, the game allows for many different play styles and personal objectives. On the down side, the game is a little weak at night since most of your animals go to sleep fairly early and the shop closes at 10pm. The peak hours to play the game are more attuned to a child's schedule. It seems like Nintendo did not forsee the popularity this title would have with teens and adults.

                      Animal Crossings: Better than humans
I hate GameCube, but I love Animal Crossings. This game NEVER gets boring. Im sure most of you know the game play, but for those who don't here's a quick run down on what the game is about. You are a human moving to a town that is owned, and occupied by none other than, animals. As soon as you get there you have to buy a house, which is owned by your friend, the raccoon. To pay off your debt you do odd jobs for the community members, catch and sell fish, harvest food and sell items. Every time you pay off your debt, Tom Nook (Racoon) builds onto your house, when you pay off your final debt he makes a statue in your honor. This game is great, not only do you do jobs and hunt, but you can also buy things to make your house better, beds, chairs, radios, stereos, statues, tables pretty much anything, plus you can buy mini NES games and play them, like Tennis and PunchOut. Not only that you meet up with a dog every saturday and he'll sing you a cool tune that you can save and play on your radio/stereo anytime, and its all techno! I highly, highly advise you to buy this game, you'll never want to put it down.

                      This game rocks!
Animal Crossing is so cool. Put three stories to your house and personalize it! My Mom plays it too, and my Dad and my sister. Go fishing and sell your fish, catch bugs and sell them too, or send them to the museum. Make a small town and talk to the people who move, but keep the town clean and plant flowers, or no one will move in. I love this game!
