This is a Toy and not for Horse collections
I purchased this horse as an addition for my Horse collection and found that this was a TOY and not appropriate to add to my collection.

I was very disappointed and will give this to my grandson.

Also, I have paid less for nicer quality model horses, so if you are adding to an existing model horse collection, pass this by(...)

    - - - Rain: Mare of the Cimarron - - -
This is a very fine quality model of Rain that I would recommend to any fellow mare lover. The sculptor did an excellent job of giving her believable equine anatomy, yet she still has the look and beauty of Rain in the movie, Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron.

The model appears to be made of a heavy plastic and is well buffed to a dull sheen after painting. I have two of these and one of them has the seam on her croup so well smoothed that you cannot see where it is. The other has some minor sanding marks and a small depression that goes from the base of her tail, along her spine to her withers. This is only of concern to a collector, or mare fancier as it is not very noticeable. To me it detracts from the lovely, graceful shape of her rump and back. If you are worried make sure you look carefully before opening the box so you can return her and get another that pleases you.

There is a very small hole drilled in the left corner of her smile which I have been told by Breyer is so that the air can escape when the model is joined together. It is very minor and is much better than how they have done it in the past when they would poke a hole in the nostril of the model.

The painting is not perfect, but certainly acceptable. Her eyes are well indicated and her coat pattern closely follows that of her in the movie. Her mane and tail are flowing with some nice hollows and through-holes that simulate her hair wafting in the wind. She has a very cute expression with which you can't help fall in love.

Her pose is realistic and very stable on a table top. She is in tripod stance and we can see the bottoms of 3 of her hooves which actually have a very slight "V" at the heel and are slightly concave to indicate the frog and sole of a barefooted mare. This is a very nice detail that they added to her in my opinion. She can also be tilted back to balance on her hindlegs and tail so that she is rearing up in a very attractive manner! :) On the inside of her left hind upper leg she has a small silver painted logo of Spirit at the gallop. Opposite this on her right hind leg is molded: TM & ©2002 Dreamworks L.L.C. Breyer © Reeves.

Summary: If you love horses in general, mares in particular, and Rain specifically, you will want to own this model. I will be buying at least two more for my collection. I use her for display still in her box, as a model for drawing her and horse anatomy, and as a reminder of how much I love horses and have enjoyed her movie, Spirit.

    Stacking Hen
    Made by Galt America Inc
    Age Group: 6 months - 2 years
      Amazon base price: $19.99
Segmented with feet, wings, head, and comb to build upon, this stacking hen will captivate your child longer than traditionally styled stackers. Why? Because it's a chicken that makes sounds, not a stack of silent, faceless rings. Discovering the surprises as each ring rattles, crinkles, squeaks, and jingles will prompt your baby to babble and chat. This stacker will fully engage your child while developing hand-eye coordination, touch sensing, body-part orientation, size grading, and imaginative play. The Stacking Hen is made of soft, brightly patterned machine-washable fabric. --Sandy Hirsch

      eye catching
My infant daughter received this as a gift. It is a very eye- and ear- catching toy. The rings are attractive, colorful, and full of great noises for infants. However the pole is too flimsy. Even my 2.5 year old can easily get frustrated trying to put the rings on.

Fun for the rings, not the best stacking toy
I love the individual rings that make up this stacking toy. The bright colors, textures, and sounds make them great for a younger baby just starting to explore and manipulate things. Unfortunately, it isn't very good for what it is designed for -- stacking. The middle pole is cloth and is too flimsy. My one year old can stack plastic rings, but when she tries to stack these onto the pole, the pole bends away from her. You really have to use one hand to steady the pole, and one to hold the ring, which is beyond most toddlers. Still, she loves carrying pieces of this toy around the house.

excellent product keeps children very busy
      excellent baby toy,worth the investmen

      Activity Dino

        Makes a great gift
I think this is a great product. It supports my son when he is sitting up and he loves to play with it. I have noticed older children like to curl up with it while watching television. I think this would make a nice gift because it is unique. Unlike most baby toys and products, we will get years of use out of the Activity Dino.

Expensive rubbish - waste of money !
We recently ordered Dino for our 6 month old son, thinking we could use it initially to help him sit up and then later as a fun rough-and-tumble toy. What arrived was a small overstuffed sock with a few "crinkly" spines. The quality of the material was cheap and nasty and the construction is appauling. As for the "roar" of the nose - we could barely hear a squeak. Needless to say, we returned this "toy" immediately. Don't waste your money - a pillow with a decorative face would be just as good and at least the cover would be washable ! AWFUL !!!!!

        My son loves this!!!
My mother-in-law bought this for my son when he was a few months old. I never imagined he would love it as much as he does. When he was 3 or 4 months old it helped prop him up and he would look at it and pat it. Now, at 7 months he wrestles with it and plays with the spines on the back to hear the different noises. He loves the crinkly and shiny fabric. He tries to squeeze the nose which makes a great roaring sound. His eyes light up every time he sees dino!!!

        Dinosaurs & Things Board Game
        Made by Aristoplay
        Age Group: 5 - 10 years
          Amazon base price: $19.99
This board game, which can be played at four different levels of complexity, is a good way to introduce young kids to prehistoric life on earth. It's played a bit like Candyland: You roll a die and move your fossil playing piece over colored spaces. Progress around the board coincides with the extraordinary evolution of dinosaurs that roamed the planet as far back as 570 million years ago. As the animals adapt and change, players can land on squares that advance their path ("Develop lungs. Swim ahead three spaces.") or hold them back ("Bitten by Plesiosaurus. Paddle back two spaces."). When you land on a creature, collect the matching creature cutout and place it on its skeleton on your side of the board. The winning player is the first to collect all nine of his or her allotted cutouts. (In more advanced levels of the game, players have to answer questions about the dinosaur before collecting the cutout.) --Tom Keogh

Great intro to science, history, and dinosaurs
We first saw this game at the NAGC (National Assoc for Gifted Children) conference this year and were intrigued. Our son is 4 and loves to play the game. We have all learned so much about the different eras and the history of the dinosaurs. Definitely recommended for children interested in science and/or dinosaurs. The different levels of questions allow the game to grow with the child.

Could be fun if it wasn't so long!
I bought this for my daughter (age 4) for Christmas, and she was thrilled to be getting her own game, and about dinosaurs, no less! Unfortunately her enthusiasm (and mine, my almost 6 year old son's, my husband's, and my mother-in-law's) quickly died out as we played. It is advertised as similar to Candyland, which it is. But unlike Candyland, there are very few ways to change the order of the players--once someone gets out in front, they stay there. Even playing at Level 1, when you don't have to answer the questions, it is just too long. And as for the questions...well, there is one question card for each area on the board. On the card is a question for each color on the die. So if everyone rolls the same color (which did happen when we played), then everyone gets the same question. So basically, we are pretty disappointed with the game. The best part about it seems to be fitting the dinosaur puzzle pieces into each side of the board.

          This game is cool!
By combining a puzzle with a game we found this to be really fun to play. My kids wanted to play it again and were thrilled to be able to answer more questions the more they played. My youngest child even caught me from behind and ended up beating me! The reading, web site and museum list in the instructions was a great added bonus. I would recommend this for any one who likes dinosaurs.

            Doesn't last long
My daughter received this gift for her birthday. She loves to carry around and cuddle the toy. However, 4 days later the toy stops working. I'm going to try to get the receipt from a family member, otherwise it looks like we are stuck with a broken toy. Our local store said the only other way for an exchange is to have the box...and it went in the trash the day after it was opened.

            Fun but not durable
I bought this for my daughter and like the other reviewer, it only lasted about a month. New batteries did not help so it must be broken. Have not tried to get a replacement yet but will. Now she does not want to play with it, as it is not a toy that can just be cuddled.

            Neopet: Uni
            Made by Thinkway
              Amazon base price: $29.99
For kids who aren't quite ready for their first real live pet, a Neopet may just fit the bill. These plush interactive dolls respond to the sound of their owner's voice with sounds, movements, and lights. Speaking to Uni, this unicorn Neopet, produces happy chattering, and whinnying and makes her body vibrate and lights flash in his cheeks. Raised voices cause Uni to give a more subdued response such as, "I don't feel too well. Let's play a game," or a startled reaction such as "That was quite loud!" Uni answers any yes-or-no question he is asked and has 50 different sayings altogether, including expressions such as "Can you brush my mane?" and "Yay! I'm so happy!" Uni also recognizes and interacts with all other Interactive Talking Neopets and Petpets and talks to them with 30 bonus sayings when they're nearby. This stuffed unicorn operates via three AAA batteries and makes a great first pet for young children to love and care for. --Cristina Vaamonde

              GREAT STUFFED INTERACTIVE TOY!
This toy is better for girls than boys if you have a boy I recommend the purple shoyru (looks like a dragon), it's the same as this toy. The high price reflects it's popularity. Because of the online virtual community;"neopets", that this toy is from. If you have girls of any age, and they like white horses or unicorns they will love this toy.

              injoy
this toy is a very injoyable toy to play with. it is fun when the uni talks to other neopets. most of my friends have been looking for one but everywhere they go there is none to be found. so if they just made more of them i would be so greatful.
              Thankyou

              Not worth the money
i bought one of the uni and one of the gift packs with Kacheek and angelpuss for my girls ages 6 and 3. They played with them for one day before we could not get the velcro where the batteries go to stay closed (I plan on returning them for something else)...not to mention that they repeat themselves over and over my husband and I were tired of them within an hour. They are cute but so are many other plush toys out there that are a better buy for your money!!!

fun for kids and dogs alike
It's not at all intuitive to make the bouncing work. Tigger's paw only cycles through some talking phrases... The frog is the key to making the bounce work. There seems to be a small device in the frog's "belly" that triggers the bouncing when tapped. It usually works if you tap the top of the frog's head. Once we had it working, our dogs were all over it!

BOUNCES JUST BY TOUCHING THE FROG!!!!!
I thought at first I was having the same problem with the toy not bouncing; until I read the directions. After the plastic is pulled out the toy bounces just by touching the frog. My 8 month old LOVES this toy; he bats at it and it goes to bouncing. I think this is perfect for babies because just by barely even touching the frog it starts bouncing, talking and singing. We have not had any problems at all about it bouncing when the frog is touched!

                Wish I had seen review...
We got this toy as a gift for my daughter's birthday...and just as the other reviewer wrote, once I pulled out the plastic piece, it no longer worked...easily. Had I known that was a "feature" I would have returned it, but 4 months later, too late now! I would leave the plastic piece in the back and tuck it in the toy's fabric cover so your children won't play with that part. We have to beat Tigger severely on the head to get him to bounce. Kind of hard for a small one to do that!

                Breyer Henry Norwegian Fjord

                  Adorable!
I just love Norwegian Fjords. They're my favorite pony breed so I bought this when it first came out a few years ago. My only complaint, I wish Breyer would come out with a new Norwegian Fjord. Maybe a foal or something...Oh, yeah. About the 2 stars for fun..This isn't really a fun toy. ..., these model horses are collector's items meaning don't give em to your 4-year-old to play with and bang up unless you like wasting money. However, if you have an older child who loves horses, this is definitely a great gift.

                  Good Primitive Horse!
This Fjord horse is a very detailed model of many of the primitive horse breeds. Add stripes and he's a pretty good zebra. Change his color a bit, and he's a Mongolian wild horse or a Tarpan. This is a very versatile body type for customizers of models, probably the most versatile that Breyer makes.

                  Henry Fjord
First, I like this little guy's name. Makes me think of the Model T, which is appropriate since the Norwegian Fjord is one of the most primitive horses still in existance. It looks very much like the extinct Tarpan. Second, I'd like to salute Breyer for making models of lesser known horses so those of us who aren't likely to see one in the flesh can have an all around view of them. They've certainly captured the character of this spunky critter. He's on my shelf right next to Man 'O War and looks like he thinks he could take him on. Last, this toy is solid. Built just like the little Fjord, it's set low to the ground with sturdy legs and neck. Not likely to break easily.

The best box of dinosaurs I've ever purchased!
This box of dinosaurs is great! My son and I play together with them for hours. He's learning what kind of diosaurs they are and you can see his imagination going wild every time he opens the box! The box is handy because you can take it with you wherever you feel like having some prehistoric fun. Not for kids under 3 as there are alot of small pieces. Definately a good buy for little ones that love dinosaurs!

                    FUN FUN FUN
THis toy was great, but basically the same as the Animal Planet Dinosaur playland. My son loved both of them. The other review here said it was just an empty box!!! Boy is she wrong. My box is packed full of fun dinosaurs! My 3 year old is in heaven!

                    Wonderful Box
My son has tons and tons of fun with the dino box. He stands on it, pushes it across the carpet, opens it up and looks for treasure, even hides in it. However he couldn't understand why, when he first opened it, there were no dinosaurs inside. I had to explain to him that it was just a dino box. He loves it anyways.

                      NOT for Goldfish!
This is a very tiny aquarium that is made of molded plastic that scratches VERY easily. The cardboard background is history once it gets wet. You cant get out under the undergravel filter to clean out algae or feces that is suctioned under the plate causing the aquarium to smell horribly when emptied. Yes, I know the thing is very cool when it is first installed, but it has some hidden dangers. The manual it comes with says it is alright for "1 or 2 goldfish" WRONG. Goldfish are very large fish and produce tremendous amounts of waste thus rendering the inadequate filter useless. GOLDFISH NEED 10 gallons of water per fish MINIMUM, no questions asked. Let me ask you a question, have you ever saw a large pond with 12 inch fish darting around in it? They are either Goldfish (yes goldfish) or Koi (a relative). So that is what that 1 inch little fish in the aquarium SHOULD grow up to be yes 12 inches. So since goldfish are out of the question I'll tell you what's best to put in the aquarium (if you are still convinced to get one). A Betta (aka Simese Fighting fish) is great for that aquarium lets see, it produces less waste, grows to only 3 in., comes in stunning color combinations, has beautiful flowing fins, yep sounds good, so there you are. But remember to only keep 1 betta per aquarium, as 2/more will fight and kill each other.

                      A wonderful first aquarium
My daughter received this item for Christmas of 2000 and it
has held up very well. It is just now getting a little bit worn
and we are thinkin that we should replace it soon. My daughter
is an aspiring marine biologist and has found observing her
very own fish absolutely fascinating. She started off with 2 goldfish, but 1 died within the first week. We then went back to the
pet store and got a good filter, which has done wonders as far
as keeping it clean and keeping our remaining goldfish happy and
healthy. He's been around for over 2 years with no problems!
I think that this is an excellent product and a great introduction
to having a first pet. So much more fun than an ordinary
goldfish bowl! It is only large enough for 1 or 2 small fish,
so keep that in mind before buying!

No reviews found for this product.
                      Fancy Goldfish Bowl
You are very limited to the kind of fish due to there being no heater, filtration system, or lights with this. In fact we were told at the pet store that we could only get goldfish or a betta.
We were a little disappointed at that especially since they don't last as long as other fish. We also were told to add 2" of stones to the bottom which covers up all the fancies at the bottom. Expect about a 15 - 20$ expense in food, fish, water chemicals, stones, etc.
Even so we are enjoying our fish and are inspired to get a "real" aquarium or when these fish are gone. We may take the bowl into the pet store and see if we can attach a heater and such.
We are learning a lot through observation and about pet care, responsibilty, and just plain fun. Exciting for any age but especially first time pet/fish owners.
