Choo Choo Zoo Train
Made by Little Tikes
Age Group: 24 months - 5 years
Amazon base price: $14.99
With real train sound effects and a menagerie of chattering circus animals, this three-car train is ideal for young engineers and circus lovers alike. The set includes a red plastic locomotive with a friendly engineer who rides on top. Push him down and listen to the whistle blow and the chug-chug-chug of the engine. The next car is purple and carries a monkey, a tiger, and an elephant. Each figure sits atop a button, so that when they're pushed, they chatter, roar, or trumpet. The engineer and the animals are removable and they can take turns sitting alone on the last car, a short yellow caboose. The cars link easily, making this train the surest way to bring the circus to town. --Lee Strucker

Zoo TrainThis was one of those random buys for my son when he was 1&1/2. He had no interest in it at all--at first. Now he's almost 2, & has been overcome by this sudden addictiveness to the animals!!! They ALL (including the conductor) have to go everywhere with him. From his crib to the grocery store. Forget the train... the animals wobble around too much, and the caboose always falls off. He has no interest in the caboose anyway, since it doesn't make any noise. The animals have helped my son learn how to make elephant, tiger, and monkey noises. As far as durability goes, I'm not too sure about the train, but the little critters are great.
Neat noises! We bought this train for our daughter because she was afraid of the train that went by our house. The noises on this train sound very realistic and the animal sounds aren't too annoying. My only complaint is that the animals do not stay on the little sound knobs. It is nice however that the animal sounds will still work without the animals being on the knobs. It is made well, like most Little Tykes products and we were very glad that we bought it to help our little one with her fear of trains. It seems to be working!
Mom of 2 loves this Choo-Choo!This is one of the cutest toys I have seen in a long time! My 1 year old got it for his Birthday and loves it! It makes animal sounds and a train sound.(not loud and obnoxious either!)It has the cutest baby animals that come off, and the train has 3 detachable parts. Super toy! A great deal for not alot of money! Made this Mom happy.

Scooby-Doo Playhouse
Made by Hedstrom Corp.
Age Group: 36 months - 7 years
Amazon base price: $19.99
Ever since Scooby-Doo made his first television appearance in 1969, the world's hungriest Great Dane and his gang of teenage sleuths has entertained audiences with their ghost-chasing high jinks. Although the original series lasted only a few years, Scooby-Doo, Where Are You? remains a popular cartoon in syndication. If your kids are part of the new generation of Scooby fans, you can send them on their own goblin quest in this 29-by-40-by-44-inch playhouse. With an elastic-corded plastic rod structure and vinyl cover, the tent is printed to look like the Mystery Machine van, with Fred, Velma, Daphne, Shaggy, and Scooby all together in the front seat. Assembly (by an adult) is quick and easy, and with the help of some groovy chase music, your kids will be on the road to spooky, scary fun. The playhouse is not suitable for camping or extended outdoor use. --Lisa Whipple

A good tentMy kids all got tents for X-mas. My mom bought this for my 9 1/2 yr old. She loves it, but we use it indoors & it stays set up all the time. If you don't have room for that, keep in mind it will probably not allow you to set it up a lot without breaking. It has the pipe with the elastic cords inside to set up so it takes a while. The pop-up tents are easier to set up but they can be hard to fold back up & store since they pop back out. This tent is larger than the other 2 tents my kids got ( the sesame st & disney princess pop-ups). In all it is a good tent depending on where & how you plan to use it.

Fun For a Short TimeMy daugter (2yrs) old loved the toy. It was very easy to assemble, and yes, the vinly smell does go away after a couple of days. I would have gladly payed a few more dollars if a light-weight canvas material would have been used instead of plastic. The toy made it about 2 weeks before the vinly cover ripped in a few places and a couple of the plastic support poles broke. Had the manufacturer upgraded the quality of the materials just a bit, this would have been a wonderful, well sized play-house. Guess we'll try some of the hard plastic "permanent" housing.

scooby doo play houseIt is not very durable, but if you use it indoors it is a great little private playhouse for your child.

The Best Toy Neopets Ever Made!!!This pet is the bomb! It says over 50 phrases, and even answers your yes and no questions. It teaches kids the responsibility of keeping a pet because it has different moods it can go into, just like a real pet. It is so cute! I REALLY reccomend it to anyone who wants a pet that doesn't need food/water, or anyone who just loves Neopets, like me! :-)

Fun for Neopets fansAbout a month ago I bought this item along with a scorchio. It does make noise, but It says the same things over and over. And when it says they interact...well...they sort of do. They make noise after one another but If whatever noise it makes is to long, they blend and you can tell that they are not really communictaing. It is very cute and it does roll, make noise, it can be happy or sad, and it can tell whether or not your picking it up. I think it is really cute and my cat enjoys playing with it to.

The New Gloworm
Made by Hasbro
Age Group: 6 months - 4 years
Amazon base price: $9.99

Great ToyThis was given to my daughter as a gift when she was 2mths old, and she loves it! It is really easy for her to activate, and it's an instant cry-stopper. However, I do agree with the other parents where it doesn't play the songs long enough. Right now her batteries are low and it sounds pretty creepy. You've got to keep batteries at hand with this toy.
Love itWe brought this for our daughter who isn't even a month old yet and she loves it. If she gets fussy all we have to do is squeeze it and her eyes widen and she just watches it. The only bad thing is that it doesn't play the songs for very long before it shuts off and you have to squeeze it again.
Gloworm The Night Time FriendI just wanted to let everyone know how our grandaughter loves Gloworm. She was about 8 months old when we bought her this Gloworm which she calls it Glowy. Glowy was her sleeping partner until she got to sleep and then someone would remove it and place on the floor. She often asked for it in the morning. We also live about 5 hours apart and it was used in the car when traveling back and forth. I give glowy a 5 star since it was such a help on teaching her to go to bed by herself and was a good friend for our traveling grandaughter.

Lamaze: My 1st Fishbowl
Made by Learning Curve
Age Group: 9 months - 3 years
Amazon base price: $19.99
An innovative toy for those who are way too young to look after real fish, this soft baby toy is a seven by seven-inch "fish bowl" with two transparent side panels containing real water. Small aquatic critters float around in these narrow walls of water. Even more interesting are the four three-inch stuffy toys (a fish, starfish, clam, and crab) that fit into the "bowl" between the watery side panels; the magnifying effect of the sides really makes these toys (and anything else in the bowl) look as if they are under water. The soft base is weighted and makes the bowl quite stable. --Richard Farr

don't botherI put it on my registry because it really is very cute. Too bad my daughter doesn't think so. I have given it to her regularly and at nine months she still has no interest in it. It is the least played with toy in her toy box. None of the kids in her playgroup ever looked at it either.
Worth waiting until they are 9 months oldWe gave this toy to my son when he was around 5 months old and I was afraid it may be on the boring side (my husband had really liked it). He has always responded to the faces on the sea creatures and been drawn to the shiny plastic sides or chewing on it all, but it's only now, at 9 months, that he's playing with it consistently. We put it away for a couple of months and now he is enjoying taking the animals out, watching the water move in the sides, and occassionally putting the animals back inside (he also enjoys throwing the animals out of his crib and watching them fall - and me fetch them from underneath). If you've given this to a young baby try reintroducing it periodically and you may be surprised.
BoringThis is, in relation to all the toys available today, a pretty boring little toy. My daughter has never been very interested in it. Maybe it is the weird, plastic-y smell that it has . . .

Musical Shape Sorter
Made by Tolo
Age Group: 12 months - 3 years
Amazon base price: $19.99
This is an activity toy that will get used, thanks to its multitude of entertaining, developmentally challenging functions; and it has a clean, happy design that'll please parents, too. The plastic tray has four shapes that can be removed from their respective holes and replaced. Each shape has an adorable, simple picture of a farm animal. When the shape is placed correctly, the animal can be pushed to sound a realistic "moo" or "oink." There's a musical function, too, where a song is played instead of an animal noise. The shapes themselves make cute rattles when they're removed. And if that weren't enough, when you flip the thing over, there's a selection of the old reliable baby-amusers: a rotary dial, a mirror, and a line of beads. The whole affair is topped off with a nice carrying handle. Highly recommended. --Claire Dederer

Not as great as the reviews would have you believeI was surprised that this toy got such good reviews, because I am not at all impressed with it. I thought that both of my sons (12 mos. and almost 3 years) would enjoy it, but neither has spent much time with it, despite enjoying other shape sorters - plus, one loves music, the other loves animals/making animal sounds. The shapes are hard to get out, and this frustrates my 1-year-old son. And I was disappointed that the music doesn't play when the shape is inserted; you have to press the shape after putting it in to get the music to play (or bypass that, and push the little button to get the music without even doing the shapes).

My toddler approves! My son is 15 months now and has played with this toy for several months. It has helped teach him animal names and sounds, and he enjoys the music it plays. He also likes the shape sorting, as well as the activities on the other side (a clicking wheel, etc.). We take this toy with us on trips because it provides good entertainment value for its size.

music morphed outi purchased this when my child was a few months old. she loved it because of the sounds of the animals. as she got older she enjoyed putting the pieces in their places. i have returned it twice because it doesn't work. each time i change the batteries but it still doesn't work. i will return the second and call it quits. the concept is great and when it works it's good but now my child is 18 months and it frustrates her.

Explore the world of animals with characters from Nickelodeon's The Wild Thornberrys TV show. Investigate habitats, avoid traps, and solve puzzles with Eliza and the rest of the gang in seven adventure games. Use her "gift of gab" to obtain animal power-ups. The original voices from the TV show are featured throughout. Fourteen levels of difficulty make it challenging for even the most experienced players.

Too much money!!!I love the Wild Thornberrys, but this game didn't do it justice. I bought it for my six-year old daughter and she didn't like it. Once you get into a stage, it doesn't let you out of it. Neither the start or select button can take you out of there. Maybe we should play around with it some more, but we got so frustrated we just switched over to the Tarzan game. Now that game is awesome! The Wild Thornberry game is too, too expensive. Save your money and with half the money you can get Tarzan---Now that's a game! It seems that Activision (made Tarzan and Spiderman) makes really great games. Sorry Mattel.
need to be a good playerit is a good game. the sound and pictures are good but it is very hard so if you are not a good player save your money.
Calling all Wild Thornberry Fans! This game is great for the person (young & old) who love the Wild Thornberry cartoons! There are multi-levels, fantastic graphics, the character voices, it just makes the whole game fun and exciting! There are some levels that are harder than others and it may frustrate the younger gamers more than the older gamer. But all in all it is a great game and one that your child (or you) will enjoy!

Loved it!i bought it for my 6 month old son; he loved it! He liked holding it while it vibrated and after a while he figured out how to push the button and make it meow/vibrate himself! He loves kitties.
BoringI bought this toy because it was colorful and I figured my son of 7 months would enjoy the vibration ("bounce"). His interest lasted for no more then 2 minutes. After the toy stops making sounds he loses interest. There is nothing to grab a hold of (an arm or leg, tail even) much less to sooth his gums on. The entire toy lacks texture, it is entirely made of hard plastic. I do not recomend this toy for very active and highly alert infants.
The greatest!!!My child LOVES this kitty! It is the cutest thing I have ever seen. It MEOWS and then play a tune and shakes like crazy. I take it with us everywhere we go! CUTE CUTE CUTE

Great Fencing! This is a great fence for kids who love to set up plays with barns!(I do) It makes a great pasture or riding arena! (4 stars for edu. because how can a model fence be edu?)It is not really model showing quality however because it not very realistic. I recomend getting this for play and not for showing.
