Dually Pick up Truck

    Overpriced piece of junk
The good: The truck matches the horse trailer (has a hitch for it). The 8" breyer figures fit inside.

The bad: This truck is made of thin, flimsy plastic. The doors don't stay closed. Mine arrived with misaligned parts that caused the tailgate to keep falling off. I had to take the thing apart and readjust all the screws. My wife told the kids not to use the steering wheel, tailgate, or hood because it looks like it'll fall apart if they do. What's the point?

My advice: buy a remote control truck the same size, which will be half the price, and make a hitch for the trailer. It'll me much more fun, and you'll only have to worry about the trailer breaking (but that's a different review :).

    Loving Family Jumping Horse Sugar
    Made by Fisher-Price
    Age Group: 4 - 7 years
      Amazon base price: $10.99
Intended more for the show world than a career in racing, Honey has enough details and accessories to please budding equestrians. This set includes a comb to brush Honey's amber mane, a trophy, a saddle, a blanket, and a gate for jumping. To get the horse to actually jump requires a fair amount of human assistance, but Honey gamely produces an impressive neighing sound when her back legs are held down and front legs are lifted up. --John Moe

      Save your money
I bought this horse and a few of the Western Style Loving Family People for my six year old son. He liked the horse and playing with it for a little while. Unfortunately, the saddle does not clip onto or strap onto the horse in any way, so it falls off everytime the horse moves. The people are jointed to straddle the horse, but again, do not clip on in any way. It is not possible to pretend that the people are riding because they slip off the saddle and the saddle slips off the horse. He has the people lead the horse, or look at the horse, nothing else is practicle. I will probably have to glue the saddle onto the horse to make it usable. He is very disappointed and so am I.
In addition, I bought the Loving Family Camper, but there is not a horse trailer to allow them to pull the horse behind them for their "vacation" so the house must ride by laying on top of the camper, which is so absurd looking I have to laugh.
The camper is a lot of fun and easy to use, spend your money on it instead of the horse.

      15" Anne Geddes Baby Hedgehogs
      Made by Unimax Toys
      Age Group: 18 months - 6 years
        Amazon base price: $24.99
Like all the adorable baby animals in Anne Geddes's photography book Down in the Garden, this little hedgehog is a sweet, snoozing baby delight. Covered entirely in thick golden-brown fur with velour underside, legs, and arms, this snuggly little boy just wants to nap away in your arms. His little fuzzy hood can be removed, but not the rest of his suit. Nicely weighted with a beanbag filling, he measures 15 furry inches long and can be gently cleaned in the washing machine. --Marianne Painter

        Not a play thing
I bought this doll because of how cute it is and it just called out to me. I see no educational value. As far as durability, it's up on a shelf just so I can see it every day. I am not a collector. I just buy things that strike my fancy, like this doll. I have also bought the small hedgehog doll and my kids have played with them for at least a year. If you want educational, get a leap pad. If you want cute and cuddly, get this doll.

        What the...?
Ok. I received this gift for my newborn daughter for Christmas 2002. I just don't know what to think. Sure it's cute but does it really serve a ourpose other than that? Not really. My daughter is 2 months old and she'll have absolutely no idea as to what the heck it is for quite some time. It's more of a gift for someone who's a touch older by years!

What a let down! A disgrace.
DO NOT BUY. You can't rate educational value, because the child is so disappointed when they touch something and it falls off!! It is only an education to the buyer not to purchase from Breyer. A carrying case too? I'd forgotten that was what it was called since the cupola snaps off immediately (as do the other parts). I purchased and assisted in the assembly with this for a 4-yr old horse lover. What a shame to the Breyer name. I am a horse lover and always thought of Breyer as THE name for horse collectibles. I cannot believe the poor quality put out by the company. DO NOT BUY. Everything snaps off, stickers peel off. The quality is soooo bad. Breyer should be refunding anyone that purchased this item and do a recall on batch numbers and claim machine malfunction.

I purchased a solid wood barn for under (...) just prior to the holiday for my own 5-yr-old daughter. It would have been worth the original asking of (...). It holds all of her horses and other animal friends.

          Santa goofed
Purchased for a 6 years old who loves horses. She was excited but quickly became disappointed because of poor quality. Doors and windows fall off at the lightest touch. We couln't even get the fence to stay up... the only part that's usable is the horse. Check out Playmobil. It's a much better product and well worth the price.

Not at all what was expected
I found this barn very disappointing. The plastic material is flimsy and the pieces do not stay snapped together. It comes with stickers to decorate the barn and accessories, but peel off easily. I ordered it because I loved the features of the fold up/carrying style and trusted the renowned Breyer name... I thought it would be perfect for my 4 year old horse lover. My son lays on the floor and plays gently in imaginative play with this set, but even still the barn easily falls apart (windows and doors fall off, fence will not stay attached and falls down). The accessories are cheap plastic as well.

This is [not worth the price] I paid. And certainly not worth the Breyer name.

            Another boring toy
Sometimes I wonder if toy designers are more concerned with how a toy appeals in the store than whether kids like it or not. My son received this as a gift at 9 months. He played with the ark for about a day and has not bothered with it much since. The blocks, which looked pretty interesting to me, were not any better. The corners are rounded so they don't stack well and are always falling down. The fish block looks neat but it is much heavier than the other blocks and throws off the balance of the ark. I put it away thinking that he might be more interested in it when he was older, but he is now 18 months and still not interested. The ark constantly falls over because the base is so narrow, which defeats the whole purpose of the rocking feature. I was pretty disappointed in the whole thing, blocks and all.

            BORING!
This toy does absolutely nothing! And as far as the "engaging mirror" on the top of the ark, anytime my son tries to look in it, he gets poked in the eye w/the purple bird thing on the top. The attachment thing on the top truly is a hazard in my opinion & the only good thing about this toy was the blocks. We will probably end up just getting rid of the ark & keeping the blocks. (the fish one really IS cool though)

            A disappointment
Although the fisher price blocks in this series (and associated toys) have been a major hit with our 12 month old son, this toy has been the biggest disappointment in the series. As other reviewers have states, it tips over easily, is difficult to balance, and is just plain boring! Our son has never given it a moment of his time. In our opinion, this combination set is only worth it for the fish-in-water block, which is the most interesting one in the whole series and can't be bought in any other set! I would skip this set, and try one of the other ones (the truck set has been a hit in our household).

              tigers
this is a cool toy it looks like a tiger trap!

Tiger traps are made out of wood, and people use them for jumping when they are ridding their horses.

they are called tiger traps because they used to be used as tiger traps. hope you like my cool info!

                Misleading description.....
The item description mentions something about the King being on your hand. Its more like the King in front of your hand. This is a finger puppet and about all you can make him do is clap. A very nicely dressed finger puppet...I must admit. There are concealed openings at the back of each of the King's arms to insert fingers and one in the back of his head to fit a fingertip. He is best used as a pretend doll. If you're looking for an actual hand puppet... you will be dissapointed.

                  Not a hand puppet!!!
I wanted a hand puppet. The item description was a little misleading when they mentioned the queen 'on hand'. This is a very well made and beautifully dressed toy...but it is an awkward finger puppet. It has a small opening on the back of each arm to insert fingers...and one tiny hole in back of head for a fingertip. The rest of your hand is exposed behind the doll. If I were looking a queen doll this would have been perfect. But I was expecting more of a puppet. I will return.

                  Shining Stars Bear: Yellow
                  Made by Mattel
                  Age Group: 36 months - 6 years
                    Amazon base price: $5.29
                    List price: $29.99 (that's 82% off!)
This Shining Star Bear is a sweet, cuddly cub with soft limbs, a squishy belly, and a huggable body. Dressed in yellow cotton pajamas with a glow-in-the-dark celestial pattern of shooting stars and moons, this 13-inch cutie holds a star-shaped pillow with a trail of fleece blanket attached to it. Making this bear extra stellar is the included gift for its caregiver: a very own star and official star-naming kit. Recipients simply choose any name and then officially register it with the International Star Registry. The star's coordinates and serial number, along with a celestial map showing its location, are already included. This heavenly bear makes a great nighttime companion--both to gaze at the stars with, and to dream about them come bedtime. --Nadia Mered

                    No Star Naming Here
I thought this was the most wonderful gift idea for a child! Both the doll and the bear models are cute, cuddly and sturdy.
However, buyers beware no star is being named "forever" as advertised. On the package a tiny disclaimer reads "International Star Registry star naming is not recognized by the astronomic community. Your star's name is reserved in the International Star Registry records only."
At best this is akin to naming your Cabbage Patch Kid - less the deceit intended.
At the International Star Registry's web site you can, for a tidy sum, "name" a star without buying the toy!

A more honest description might be "Nickname A Star"
