I bought this puzzle when my firstborn was one year old and he has loved playing with it as has his little brother. There is something very appealing (and wholesome) about kids loving farm animals...even those living in the suburbs with no farm in sight.

As with all the wooden peg puzzles from this manufacturer, the quality is high and they are very durable. The key to this brand, unlike others in same price range, is that the photo is idential underneath as on the piece itself. This is key for one year olds and even two year olds to master using the puzzle. I have seen both my kids struggle when 1 or 2 with different puzzles that are blank underneath or worse, show a different scene under the piece than on the piece.

I think it is wise to start off right at age one with the wooden peg puzzles as a plaything. My kids also play with the pieces separately from just making the puzzle. After they've mastered matching the piece and fitting it in, usually when they are around 2 they can do the different puzzles that don't have the image underneath.

Doing matching exercises and fitting these pieces into their proper places aids with hand eye coordination and thinking skills. Every child should have several of these puzzles of their own to play with.

The puzzle holder by this manufacturer is very useful to store the puzzles when they are not being played with and I highly recommend that as well.

This is a great gift for any holiday!

The smallest piece is about 1 1/2"x2 1/2". The pegs are not removable even by hands of adults. The company guaranteed non-toxic and child-safe(age 2-4) on the back of this toy.
The board and puzzle pieces are thick and very durable.
The pictures are colorful and cute. Children show an interest in the farm animals in their early age. I think you can teach these animals to babies and show them how to fit the piece in the spot even they can't do it themselves. My son is 24 month old, and it's too easy for him. He still play but just to show me he can do it. I recommend to children, age 12 month and maybe younger with parent's supervision to prevent from choking just in case. The younger children will need your help to play with this toy anyway.... You might be able to find a bargain.

I got this puzzle for my girl's first birthday. She loves it. It is a very high quality toy that should last forever. The animals pictures are very colorful and well painted. She still chews on everything, but has not been able to damage this puzzle in any way. The pegs really help her pick up the peices and set them down (not in the right place yet), and the pegs are not removeable like I was worried about, but are buried deep in the wood and are very safe. I highly recommend this puzzle for all children over a year old.

My girls; 4,3,&1 years old; received this for Christmas. It's been a hit. Nothing has broken, even when being played with by 5 horse crazy girls. I purchased Schleich horses to go with it, and most (just not the biggest draft type horses) fit perfectly inside. The animals that came with it are fine, but a few of them are pretty scary with orange/red eyes. The animals I remember coming with it were horse, pig, cow, dog, and turkey. HTH

I got this for my 2 year old twins. They love it. They put the animals in different compartments of the barn, open and close the doors, stalls, and the barn itself. It's a little pricey, but it really is a beautifully made toy. The animals are also very nicely detailed, very sturdy, and no small parts.

It's holding up wonderfully, with nary a scratch. We got this as a follow-up to a disappointing purchase with a plastic Noah's ark toy, whose doors were always falling off. (Okay, I'm probably spoiling my kids a bit...) At any rate, the ark is in park, but Noah's animals are welcome to come visit the barnyard.

I am not sure what the previous reviewer is thinking! Of course there are no nails - This company clearly knows what they are doing! They only make safe products.... I also found the barn to very durable. My son is very rough with his toys and this barn has stood up to the test!

My son is 3 years old and adores this stuff animal he eats with it, sleeps with it, does everything with it.He says he loves it so much in the whole wide world.To me this is definitely a great toy for any age.He has not put it down since he got it.He got it 2 weeks ago and is still playing with it!!!He wants to get the pug next.I HIGHLY recommend this toy.

i gave it 5 stars for every thing becase its 5 years old and i still have it. if your children love dogs then get this toy.

It's always surprising which of your children's toys will become favorites. This little dog is inseperable from my daughter (almost 2 yrs old).
It has survived several washings with good grace. The only problems with this dog that has had 1.5 years of rough love is the nose has worn off and the white fur gets dirty quickly. But it's like her own velveteen rabbit.
As far as educational value, you can be sure a dog was the first animal my daughter could name.

I think this pomerianian is so ugly that it looks cute.

I have a real Pomeranian, Zoê, and I fell in love with this plush version when I was shopping at Toys R Us with my Grandma, and luckily, she buys me whatever I want, so I just said, "Aww, look Gram, isn't this puppy adorable?" and she said, "Sure is, sweetheart. Why don't you add him to the basket!" and she winked at me. Now, almost a year later, I still find myself snuggling and petting my little Kibbles like she was real as Zoê! I think every child in the world should have their own Animal Alley plushie to snuggle with when they are lonely.. you just have to hug their soft bodies once and you'll be in love!

Here are some helpful tips on taking care of your Animal Alley:
Animal Alley's are not machine washable! So, don't eat things like spaghetti around them, where the sauce could stain their fur, and don't drink juice around them.. especially grape and strawberry, which stains the most! Since my Animal Alley Pomeranian, Kibbles, has long fur, I brush it almost every week so it doesn't get tangled. But besides that, you can basically do anything with them, they're really durable and don't tear apart easily.. and for a price like $9.99, it's completely worth it!

I got this toy 2 weeks ago. It's so soft and cuddly! I think its so adorable and looks just like a Pomeranian!

Brown Rabbie came to our house about 2 years ago for a friend of our daughter who was 2 at the time. Well... Brown Rabbie was sitting on the desk and Joycee had Grey Rabbie already. Joycee asked Daddy for Brown Rabbie and they have been unseperatable ever since. We only left Rabbie once at an unknown place to Rabbie on our way to Shasta Lake at a stop that we got an ice cream. Well.. Joycee is 4 now and starting preschool Monday. I had gone to Toys R Us and the store did not have him anymore, I found him online and decided to buy an extra just in case Rabbie gets lots again and to give one to our day care provider as a gift to remind her of Joycee. This Rabbie has been through alot, I have never had to give him surgery, he has survived the washing machine half dozen times, and still goes to Lake Shasta every July with us.And the friend of Joycee well, we got him a grey Rabbie and now he is living in Canada.

A feel weird that I am fascinated with this stuffed rabbit at the age of 17. I'm a big fan of rabbits of all kinds, even fake ones.

I've seen way too many cartoonish looking rabbits about, so when I saw this realistic looking one I was amazed. I picked it up off the shelf an it even felt realistic! ...and so soft. Goodness, once you feel these things, you can't help but want to keep it.

I've had mine for about 5 months now, so it's kind of worn out from heavy usage. The strings that partially held its ears to its head snapped from pulling on the ears to hard. But in a way, that actually made the stuffed rabbit better because now the ears aren't plastered to the side of its head, but instead can move around more freely. In fact, I recommend pulling on the ears to break the string so you can make it an even more realistic rabbit!

So far I only have the brown one, but definitely intend to get the grey one too because these things are just great to play with.

When I went inside of TOYSRUS I wanted to get a few toys, dolls etc. Right before we had to leave Ilooked around Animal Alley and saw those bunnies so I ran over to my mom and got it. If you know how a bunny feels thats how it feels like but it isn't real fur! I can't stop adoring it! So go get it and have fun it would be really good for people who adore lop eared or all kinds of bunnies, rabbits.

This collie is the most adorable stuffed animal my daughter owns. We purchased our collie (a.k.a. Casey) 2 years ago to add to my daughter's stuffed animal collection. But this collie's destiny was not to sit on her bed or shelves but it was to go everywhere with us. Casey gets her own seat at restaurants, movies, rides and travels about Texas with us. Everyone who sees her has to touch her to make sure she is not real. The attention has enlightened my daughters heart and she gets tickled everytime someone says "I thought it was a real puppy". Great social communication skills for our young daughter. This collie also feels so warm when you hold her as though she is real. She now sports collar with her own name tag. This is the greatest life-like cuddly toy! My oldest son has the larger version as a special reminder of his own real life Collie that lives to be at his side. This stuffed animal looks like our dog was used as the model! My youngest has the smaller version and takes it with him everywhere including his crib. I have had to wash the smaller one due to typical messes of a toddler and it is pretty durable. Our family gives this Animal Alley Collie a 5 star rating for looks, fun, education and durability. We were looking for a realistic stuffed animal for my young son and he picked this one. He loves to nuzzle his face in it, and it's been his buddy on many a car trip. "Laddie" (our name for the dog) is adorable to boot!

My only gripe is the dog is NOT machine washable. Laddie reached the point where he was beyond sponge baths. It was either the washing machine or the trash can. Unfortunately, the washing machine took away his realistic look. He now resembles a poodle with collie markings. We're going to buy me son another Laddie, but be forewarned.

My three year old son (soon to be four) does love this "Mommy T Rex" (Daddy is a remote control one who is "meaner."). He plays with it alot and it is soft enough to not worry me during battle, but its lip busted open and the foam-like material is leaking out. We just tell my son that her gums are bad. Otherwise, a great toy - for my son's birthday this year, he has requested the Steg, Brac, Shark and Croc. So I guess if he reviewed it, he would agree that it is great - despite the leaking gums!!!

T-Rex has become our daughters favorate toy. Everywhere she goes he goes with her.

She is learning all about dinosaurs and has many other similar toys but T-Rex (or sharptooth) is the best.

She takes out books on dinosaurs from our library and corrects our pronounciation of dinosaur names...

The whole family (even the grandparents were involved!) had been trying to look for a t-rex just right for our pre-school aged son, but we could not find a t-rex that he wanted anywhere until I found this one. This t-rex foam is just the perfect size for our son, he has a lot of other little dinosaurs, but he does not care to play with them. I give this toy five stars overall, it's very durable, it will not break like all other plastic toys. It's soft and easy to carry everywhere. My son loves it because he thinks it is just absolutely huge and it looks so much like the real thing! I highly recommend it to parents who have been on search for the perfect t-rex for their kids, the whole family loves our new t-rex buddy!!

Got this for my 20 month old son; I thought maybe its a lil' too late introducing this toy - Boy was I wrong - He loves to play with it and when I arrange the soft toy pins - he goes around saying 1, 2 :-)
Recommend for kids under 24 months

Love this toy! Animal "pins" are easy for little guys('n'gals) to set up, AND knock down. And furniture (and people) is (are) safe from overactive or poorly aimed throws. Great for building motor skills, and the "pins" are really cute. I also liked that they are numbered, as this gives game possibilities room to grow. Great for him (or her) to play alone or with you. We need more toys like this!!!

The pictures of this toy don't begin to do it justice in terms of how darn cute this toy is! It is just so adorable. The suggested age is 18 months and up but I think it's also great for babies 8 months and up. The bowling "pins" are soft, cuddly farm animals that your child will love to hug and snuggle with.The bowling "ball" is a soft, fuzzy stuffed ball that can be squeezed and batted around without doing any damage whatsoever. I can't imagine any child not being absolutely entranced by this lovely toy.

we used this on a extended car trip. Each time we took it out the puppets would be involved in a new story. great fun. good durability and bright colours.

I love this bc it is interactive and a toy but in a book form. I love that the big puppet fits mom's hand and the little one fits baby's finger

My 9 month old and I LOVE this book, and it is a wonderful toy to play with together. I look forward to when she starts talking and can maybe start voices the characters too! She also plays with it on her own. It is extremely well made and has stayed together admirably (especially considering all tugging and pulling a toy like this invites!) I agree with all the positive reviews!!! (Also loved the "peek-a-boo monkey" cube by Folkmanis . . .GREAT for peek-a-boo games if you're looking for more 'together time' toys!)

I bought this puzzle for my nephews and they simply love it each time they visit me they play with this one puzzle all the time . It is not the pet puzzle it is the one with dinosaurs by Melissa & Doug. It is fantastic the way it holds there interest.

My daughter loves this puzzle, and she is picky about toys and puzzles. The wooden frame is very helpful and the pieces are sturdy and fit together nicely. I bought it for her when she was nearly three.

First of all I am a huge fan of Melissa & Doug BUT this wooden interlocking puzzle has a definite design flaw. The pieces fit very tightly and as the child tries to take them apart the little knobby pieces break off. Within a couple days several pieces had broken which really takes away from the completed picture and makes the puzzle even more difficult. Since most people would buy this puzzle thinking it would be MORE durable being made out of wood I think they would be disappointed for the price.
