2-yr. old daughter LOVES matching 3D dinos to photos
What a neat puzzle! My brother sent it for our daughter as a surprise and we all love the puzzle. Our 27-mo. old daughter adores dinosaurs and especially loves matching her 3D plastic dinosaurs to the pictures in this puzzle (we've left the plastic on for now so she can do this with ease). The colors are great and the dinosaurs depicted in a life-like (but not scary) manner. There are 13 different dinos pictures and they are all clearly labeled in the B&W picture that comes on a sheet on the back of the puzzle. Wonderful product.

Excellent puzzle but quality could be better
My son is nuts for this puzzle, which he got when he was 3 1/2 and is still nuts about at age 4. It's got so many different dinosaurs that it's very visually engaging. He never bothers to look at the "completed picture" to do puzzles so it didn't bother him that there isn't a color picture of what the puzzle should look like, just a black and white drawing.
However, the very first time he played with this one of the pieces split slightly and the paper came off. A few days later another piece did the same thing. They need to use a higher quality plywood. However, he's been playing with it like crazy and none of the other pieces have split.

Great toy for parent and child interaction
I got this puzzle as a gift and it is the perfect size for a 3-4 year old. I find the small puzzles too easy and the really big ones too hard. He needs help on this puzzle, but can do a majority by himself. I would recommend this to any parent who likes to sit down and have a small project to do with a child.

    Dino Math Tracks Game
    Made by Learning Resources
    Age Group: 6 - 9 years
      Amazon base price: $19.99
The Dino Math Tracks game (winner of several prestigious awards, including an Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Gold Seal) is a race around the rainbow with a pack of pintsize, prehistoric pals. An unusual spin on a typical roll-the-dice-and-move game, it spotlights the mathematical concept of place value and gives kids reinforcement in what makes our base-10 number system tick. Each player is allotted one dinosaur for each of the four tracks (the tracks are labeled 1s, 10s, 100s, and 1000s). To play, a player rolls four dice to create a 4-digit number and then moves his or her prehistoric posse to the appropriate 1s, 10s, 100s, and 1000s places. Problem-solving strategies are honed as players scurry to get all four miniature mammoths or tiny triceratops into the dino haven, ahead of the other players' thundering herds. But look out! In the race to dino utopia, it's easy to get bumped by a baby brachiosaurus!

The Dino Math Tracks game provides multiple levels of play for a variety of ages. At the simplest level (perfect for a first-grader who knows Arabic numerals and one-to-one correspondence), kids use only the place track for the 1s. Later, cards with simple problems are introduced ("Stuck in a tar pit! Move your 10s dino back two spaces!"). At the most advanced level, players might encounter a question like this: "Your 10s dinosaur forgot its pants, so it went back 15 to get them. Then it hurried forward 25. How far did it get? Move that many." Young players will find the 2-inch, spunky vinyl dinosaur playing pieces irresistible. The game offers plenty of opportunities for friendly competition and brain bending--not to mention lots of nonthreatening practice at addition and subtraction. --Julie Ubben

      A real winner!
This game is great! The tiny dinos spark my 5 year-old son's imagination and enables him to have so much fun that he does not realize he is learning. Furthermore, he does not want to stop!!! He learned place value up to the thousands during our first game. After each roll of the dice the player uses all four dice to make a number and then s/he reads the number aloud (i.e. if you roll 6666 you say six thousand six hundred and sixty six). As we move our dinos around the board T.R. looks forward to our pieces landing on the same track so that we can have a "Showdown". In a "Showdown" you simply have to roll a dice and the person who gets the larger number wins. However, we move our dinos to the middle of the board and have a miniature battle. The player who rolled the larger number wins the battle. The loser is sent back home and the winner gets to move ahead. After playing the game a couple of times without using the cards - which is the simplest level of play with this game - my son asked to use the cards. So on Day 2 we began using the cards. Again he uses his imagination and does a great deal of role play as he carries out the instructions. It fills my heart with delight to see his excitement and to see that he has truly learned how to read numbers up to the thousands. (T.R. learned to read when he was 4 so he independently reads the dice and reads the cards.)

As a parent I highly recommend Dino Math Tracks because kids quickly learn a lot while having loads of fun. This game can be played at three levels, so it grows with your child.

Great fun! Colorful! Math skills to boot!
My child loves this game! Each person has a single type of dinosaur in four different colors. Each color represents one of the placement values; Ones, Tens, Hundreds, Thousands. The dinosaurs, as determined by roll of four dice, have to walk their color-coordinated path from start to finish. But look out! If an opponent lands on the same space, a die-rolling duel ensues, with the high-roller prevailing. This basic game is a lot of fun for young children. Then there are two decks of cards, one more advanced than the other, which enable the parameters of the game to expand with the child's developing math skills. My child and I can play on even ground - a rare trait in today's games. This comes highly recommended!

      My kids love this game
I was not too excited when my kids got an educational board game as a gift, but my kids took right to it and still ask to play it on a regular basis a year later. They have learned a lot, and I am buying this game as a gift for our school friends this year. My only gripe is that the numbers wore off the dice, since the kids played the game so much!

        fun, fun, fun!
Of all the Animal Alley puppets, this is my favorite. My husband was mad I bought it for my students and not for him. One note- some Animal Alley puppets do not allow you to slip your fingers into the arms to move them, which doesn't make much of a puppet, but the Dragon puppet allows you to move the arms easily. If you really work at it, you can get your fingers up in his head and move the mouth, too, but don't expect a child to be able to do that with ease. The dragon is cuddly and huggable like a stuffed animal, and just adorable. My students are helping him learn how to get along with others and manage his anger. He's also great as just a toy to imagine with.

          Great take along toy.
These magnets have helped my 2 1/2 year old survive many coffee refills at restaurants with the grandparents. It opens to about the same size as his place at the table and is very thin to carry around (I don't feel like we've moved in with a whole toy box). It has also survived a minor water spill.

Best car toy for the budding "Paweeuntowogist"
Both my sons have had hours of fun in cars and strollers with this set. In 4 years we lost only one piece. Great for imaginative play for the dino fanatic.

            nice surprise
I ordered this for my son's 6th birthday. From the picture it's hard to see many of the details- but when we turned it on it was so neat! The entire scene rotates around the lamp with several different dinos pictured and the background light looks realistic. I was very impressed and he was ecstatic!

              Great!
I bought this for my daughter for her 1st birthday not realizing it is recommended for 4 yrs and up. Well, my 3 year old son took it right over! And she loved it too! My son took it to bed with him in the box the night before her birthday and did not want me to wrap it for her the next morning. He loves it to say the least. He never had a Barney toy before so that might make it even more special to him. He likes helping Barney take his jacket on and off, shoes, etc. My daughter just likes hugging it! It is very soft and cuddly.

                Great toy
I bought this toy for my three year old son because he loves everything about dinosaurs. The age range starts from six, but kids at younger ages retain so much I figured if it was too old for him now he can play with it later. He loves it. It very durable, he totes it everywhere and loves all the games and different buttons and music. Great toy for any dinosaur lover!

                Dinosaurs in a Box Puzzles
                Made by Melissa & Doug
                Age Group: 4 - 6 years
                  Amazon base price: $9.99
This boxed set of four puzzles deserves rave reviews. Each of the 6-by-8-inch dinosaur pictures is vivid, colorful, and well-detailed, making them a pleasure to behold. (For instance, the triceratops is shown standing in front of a gorgeous cascading waterfall.) But more significantly, this set is a pleasure to hold--each wooden piece is smooth, well-sanded, and has a glossy, protective coating over the picture. In fact, Waldorf educators believe in offering young children these kinds of high-quality, beautiful toys made of natural materials because they are so satisfying to touch and work with. Don't worry about getting the pieces to different puzzles mixed up. Each piece has a coded symbol on the back, so children can easily sort and put them in the right compartment. --Hannah Reynolds

                  if your child loves dinosaurs...
This is a great toy! My son loved dinosaurs and puzzles, so this was the perfect toy. He would do them again and again. He was only 3 years old when he received it for his birthday and only recently stopped playing with it(he is turning 6 next month).

                  Fun and Durable
These are just great. Four 12-piece puzzles made out of very durable materials (see Pros below). The sturdy wooden box has four compartments under a sliding lid. Each of the four puzzles are theme related. These four are Triceratpos, Stegasaurus, Pteranodon, and Allosaurus.

                  Pros:
                  Easy but not too-easy puzzles.
                  Pieces fit well together.
                  Nice pictures.
                  Sturdy container.
Each puzzle has a different shape printed on the back to make sorting the puzzles easier.
Super durable. I did not realize just how durable they were until I found a piece in my dishwasher. Even after being washed the picture was fine and the wood in perfect condition.

                  Cons:
It may take a few moments to figure out how to fit an entire puzzle's pieces in a single compartment.
                  Lid does not lock closed.

My kids love these and you will too.

Great for fine motor skills and busy young minds
The company gets kudos for stamping different symbols on the back of puzzles to help adults sort the four puzzles apart. This toy is fantastic and will likely be done over and over again with plenty of wonder each time. Only complaint is that pieces sometimes stick together and eager hands may apply too much pressure. We know they will eventually break, but the price is tremendous given the amount of attention the puzzles have commanded.

Stimulate your child's brain with puzzles!
My 3 year old son enjoys his 24 piece grocery store puzzles and was able to spend a good 15-20 minutes assembling them, at first with help from mommy and then by himself. I thought it was time to try a more difficult puzzle- this was a good next step. He and I put this one together- he is not ready for it on his own, but it is not so difficult that he gets frustrated if we work together. As another reviewer pointed out, this is a good puzzle to teach 2 important puzzle skills that 24 piece puzzles don't quite get at: #1: to look at the box as a reference and #2: to start by making the outside border and then filling in the middle. The quality is outstanding- it blows grocery store puzzles out of the water. The colors are beautiful, but lots of similar shades of brown and green which make it slightly more difficult. My son is wanting to know the names of the different dinosaurs now. If you want to sit down and help your toddler with this puzzle at first it is a great one to get! We love this company and their products!!!

Awesome puzzle for kids interested in dinosaurs.
We bought this as a gift for our two-year old nephew, and he absolutely loved it! Like many little boys, likes anything dinosaur, and he also enjoys puzzles, so this was perfect. The pieces are very sturdy and can certainly survive some toddler abuse. The puzzle can be used again and again, but the finished work is so attractive that it also makes a cool wall hanging for a kid's bedroom--it looks great in my nephew's room! Highly recommended.

Great "learn how to do puzzles" puzzle
We stepped up to this puzzle after mastering the farm animals puzzle, which had fewer pieces and was relatively easy to assemble without looking to the box for help. The dinosaur puzzle, on the other hand, was great for teaching my almost-4 year-old the ins and outs of puzzle assembly.

We start by looking at a piece and determining what it's a part of. ("This is someone's green neck. Who needs a green neck?") Because the dinosaurs are all shades of browns and greens, we next match the piece to the box, then lay it in the appropriate spot. We're currently working on learning about "corners" and "edges".

The construction is excellent, as with most LCI products. The pieces all fit snugly and unambiguously and are printed on durable, glossy stock...

It's a monster! Imagine a very flat, very green triceratops with huge front feet and a goofy grin. Just be sure you've made the right decision about where in the yard to put him: the hollow space where his back should be is a big sandbox that can hold 300 pounds of sand. It can also be used as a paddling pool--a drain plug is provided and there's a tan top to keep out the rain. The sandbox is 50 inches from nose to tail, and 48 inches wide. BUY YOUR SAND AT HOME DEPOT, 1/2 THE PRICE
We bought this sandbox for my 4 year old and so far we really like it. It's the biggest one we could find. We decided to get the sand at Home Depot and it was only $2.50 for a 10lb. bag, instead of paying $4.99 at Toys r us for the same size bag.

                      Kids love sand!
We have a two year old and we got this when she was 18 months. Not only does she love it, but it has made her very popular in our neighborhood. We find that kids from 1 year up to 8 love playing in this sandbox. It's big enough for 4 small kids, but I think 3 is ideal. She is learning concepts such as volume and working on her motor skills by scooping and pouring. We bought a little sifter that she puts sand in a cone at the top which as it works it way through spins wheels in the middle and comes out at the bottom. That's her favorite. Just remember to keep the cover on if you have any cats roaming in your neighborhood. We forgot one time and it wasn't pretty. It's no fun dumping out the sand, cleaning it, and pouring new in so just try preventive maintenance on that one!

                      Many hours of fun
We bought this for my daughter's first birthday. She loves it and so do the neighborhood kids. I've seen my daughter (now three), a 6 year old and an 8 year old in the sand box at the same time. It is the largest I've found. I've never had a problem with water leaking in. We leave the sand box covered with the provided cover when no one is playing. We leave it out in the elements all winter. (Rain and a little snow mostly during our Winters) Every Spring we simply scoop out the few unwanted bugs and it the sand is good as new. We've had the sandbox for two years and we've never had to buy additional sand. This is a great sand box.
