What a disappointment, what a disappointment...
I remember watching "Alien 3: Resurrection" at a theatre, expecting some quality equivalent of previous two movies; Alien, and Aliens. I left the theatre with bitter taste because the third installment of the Alien series wasn't even up there to be compared with the previous two movies. What a disappointment...
I wouldn't be disappointed as nearly as I was disappointed that day if there were no such things as Alien, or Aliens. It was bitter disappointment because I was left with no choice but comparing with two great predecessors.

Playing Ray Crisis gave me exactly same taste/feeling, which I felt when I was walking out of the movie theatre. First installment, Galatic Attack, also known as Layer Section in Japan, was an awesome shooter games. It was great enough to be compared to be those great shooter games out there such as Radiant Silvergun and Shienryu. It was beautifully drawn, each level was designed with lot of thought, even the title of each stage was inspiring, coupled with excellent music by Zuntata.
Second installment, Ray Storm, which is an excellent game, not as good as the first one in my opinion, nevertheless, a GREAT game by today's standard. It incorporated more of 3D looking yet the graphic was BELIEVABLE, not those choppy graphic. The game play was also excellent, not as challenging as the first installment(but provided more than enough challenges), but surpassed Layer Section in terms of music and ending. The ending of the first installment was good, meaning it was better than other typical games where it only shows credit. However, Galatic Attack did something more than just showing credit. Moreover, Ray Storm, which has to be the BEST ENDING EVER for any shooter games. You gotta play the game to the end to see it for yourself. With the story scrolling up, with EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT MUSIC, it raised itself from just mere shooter game to something even more.

Now, with all the good things said about first two games of the series... Trust me, I was dying to play this very game. When I played it through, I was left with this emptiness. I might have enjoyed it up to certain extent if I haven't played the first two installment. However, first two installment were way up there in terms of gameplay, graphic, music, ending, etc, Ray Crisis just does not live up to the 'legacy' of the series, just like Alien 3 the Movie.

I don't want to get into the detail why I was disappointed, gameplay(what happened?), GRAPHIC(it looks worse then Ray Storm???), music(not intuitive), etc. I thought about how to describe this disappointment and came up with perfect description.

NO 'SOUL' HAS BEEN PUT INTO RAY CRISIS, PERIOD.

It's a decent game. It's good enough to be enjoyed. However, it's no near to be in same level with either Layer Section or Ray Storm. What a disappointment, what a disappointment...
I really hate to see this one of my favorite installment ending with Ray Crisis, a mere decent game. I really hate to see that...

PS2 ? This game proves that the PS1 has some punch left...
Wow. This game is a great last gasp for my beloved Playstation. Working Designs is looking to have a strong finish for the old grey box with Lunar 2 and Arc the Lad collection just aound the corner. If you are a fan of the "shooter" genre, you must have this game. Raycrisis: Series Termination, rivals the great shooters on this system like Einhander and R-Type Delta. This game uses an over head view. The terrain is in glorious 3-D and boasts superb detail. The jungle level is amazing, with weather effects to boot. The game play in this sequel is similar to it's predecessor, Raystorm. You control one ship against hundreds of enemies with the ability to lock-on to multiple targets. Your ship sports forward cannons and rear-firing lasers. The bosses are generated by an evil computer (most likely a Microsoft X-box) that is bent on taking over the world. The stage bosses are of the large sort that beg to be destroyed. You blast through levels of enemies that seem to swarm around your fighter. Raycrisis plays at a good speed, but it does experience a bit of slow down. The slow down is not enough to foul up game play though. In fact, it may save you when a cloud of destruction is headed your way. To get full benefit of Raycrisis, I suggest turning the difficutly up and the lives down. This game defines "twitch shooter." If you love old school style shooters, this game is for you.

      Star Trek: Trivia Challenge
      Made by Sound Source Interactive
Age Group: 5 years and up
        Amazon base price: $19.99
To play Star Trek Trivia Challenge, you'll need your brain on the bridge, your finger on the pulse of pop culture, and your tongue firmly in you cheek. You'll need the know that Khan likes to serve his revenge cold, that Ricardo Montalban once pitched a product for serving sandwiches hot, that Data is indeed the Starship Enterprise's "little wooden boy," and that Woody Allen's Stardust Memories featured a young Brent Spiner. Prime directive? To lighten up. Phasers? Set on fun.

A Game With A Lot Of Charm
Star Trek Trivia Challenge and The Star Trek Game Show are very very good. These games are quite entertaining if you are a real Star Trek fan. Non Star Trek people will definitely not know any of the answers.

What's really interesting about the TWO games in this set is the detail of the sound effects, visuals and graphics. They are as if they came off the Star Trek sets themselves.

John De Lance entertains us with his 'Q' like no one can and he is just as sarcastic and witty as always - especially if you make a mistake. Yes the actor is on screen and guides through everything step by step. (Juts don't make a mistake. He cracks me up everytime!

The Triva Challenge has some great details and humor with its host and the graphics are very good. I enjoyed this game and did not know what to expect. So it was a surprise that it was so good! (8-13-02)

        Fun Trivia
Some of the Trivia is rather obscure, especially if you're a New Generation Trekkie, but it's interesting nonetheless. You learn lots of fascinating details of characters, actors, stories, films and such. Worth your time if you're a hard-core Trekkie!

This globe broke within 48 hours of delivery. The bracket that holds the globe to the base it not substantial enough. Don't waste your money!!

            good toy
I bought this set for my 10 year old daughter and she loves it. The planets are easy to snap together and there is plenty of paint. My favorite feature is the glow in the dark paint. It can be painted on after the regular paint dries, or you can mix it with the colored paint for a different effect. It didn't glow as bright as I'd hoped, but that wasn't a big deal. The paint dried surprisingly fast, we were able to apply two coats of colored paint and the glow in the dark stuff in under two hours. I would recommend using a smaller paintbrush than the one included. We used a q-tip for the details. The sun and Saturn come with plastic rings, and there is even a poster of the solar system. The mobile was pretty easy to put together, and the instructions are very clear, my daughter did most of it by herself. We have it hanging on the ceiling in my daughter's room, so no one can touch it. When we were hanging it up, I accidentally scratched Pluto and some of the paint came off. Overall this is a great toy. I would recommend this toy for older children. I can't see a five year old painting details on the little planets and putting together the mobile.

              Fun Gameplay, low Graphics......SNK anybody?
I only gave this game 4 stars because Batman's moves are a lil hard to pull off against multiple enimies smoothly. The graphics aren't much to look at, but that's not what its about, its the fun factor! It's one of the last good arcade beat 'em ups that you will find. It is really the sound that gives the game an action flare. I could play this game over and over trying to get high comnbo's on the baddies just to hear Jim Carrey say "NOW THATS IMPRESSIVE" What can I say, this game makes it seem like the movie was cool.

                Not Your Average Platform Shooter
The game may seem like a standard platform shooter at first but as you play through you get to see that it is different. It has a different approach to the classic shooter game with the ability to deploy the commando to his destination with enemies moving on the map. Upon reaching a place you can skip to another place or land there and fight your way through the level. Another totally different approach is the inability of the commando to jump. You can only use your grappling hook to swing from platform to platform. This unique gameplay makes for difficult gameplay but still enjoyable as you will slowly master the use of the hook. The gameplay elements are great and it is a worthwhile purchase. But if you have a gameboy color or advance console then you could do better by buying the Bionic Commando:Elite Forces for the gameboy color where you get to play as a male or a female commando and enjoy additional top-down mode, sniper mode along with the standard side scroller.

A great sequel to the CONTRA Series
Another game in the popular Contra series, this one goesto show why the series in so popular. It managed to capture the market because of it's simplicity in it's jump and shoot gameplay and the intuitive game bosses. The Alien wars continues in the tradition with simple gameplay and a lot of baddies hogging the screen. The sounds are good and the gameplay is easy at first and gets progressively harder every stage. This is a good game for all the action freaks and will certainly fulfill your action quotient for a few hours at least. There are about 6 levels and the bosses go in the typical contra style with huge obnoxious heads and potruding multiple limbs. The storyline is not that great and seems to be just an afterthought to the action. Buy this one and you will not be disappointed.

The most underrated strategy game ever made
Firstly, yes, this is the "prequel" to Dark Reign 2, another Real-time strategy game that got short-shrift from gamers. Dark Reign had the misfortune to be released at the same time as Total Annihilation. I've also played Total Annihilation, and I admit that I found Dark Reign to be much more fun.

The two strongest features of Dark Reign are it's unit-control interface and artificial intelligence, which have only been rivalled by one other game - Age of Empires 2. On Easy level, the enemy will send squadrons of diverse units against your base. For instance, the AI might send tanks and ground troops, only to have them vaporised by your turrets. It might then send air units against your base, which has no anti-air guns.

The unit-control is even better than Dark Reign 2. You can command your units to scout the entire map (and unlike Dark Reign 2 they really WILL explore the entire map). You can even send them on harrassment missions, which I've found very useful in slowing down enemy AI production.

The weakest feature of Dark Reign is it's storyline. Instead of actually being a member of the warring armies, you're actually an observer replaying historical battles. The only real excitement is at the end, when you utilise units and buildings from both sides to defeat both opposing armies. The final mission is definitely NOT for the fainthearted.

It's unfortunate that Dark Reign didn't get the kudos it deserved. It's graphics may not have been of the same standard as Total Annihilation, but it's intense gameplay easily surpassed that of it's rival.

                      Fantastic Game
Descent Maximum is not just for teens because adults can play this game also. I am an adult and I play this game with a thirteen year old and it is lots and lots of fun. Glenn Rubenstein from the Editorial Review asks "how much compelling gameplay does it offer in the long run?". I would say that this game is very compelling and what he describes as confusing is what makes this game so much fun.
