    Old game, but classic
Although XCom lacks the whiz-bang graphics of the latest games, it is one of the classic strategy/war games and in many ways still hasn't been equaled by anything that's come out since. Worth a try if you're into gameplay and strategy and don't need realtime 3-D graphics to satisfy your gaming urge.

      Fun & Educational
This was a gift for my 4 year old, who loves dinosaurs. He really enjoyed wearing the protective glasses and chipping away the sand to uncover the dino bones! He needed a little help getting started. We tried to guess which dino we were finding as we chipped away. Once we uncovered it, we went online to get more information about the dinosaur that we found. It was fun and educational. We are saving the glasses and tools to explore other materials in our backyard. Cool gift for a future archeologist / palentologist.

        Great Game....
I just bought this game a few days ago from a store. I started to get interested in Mega Man games so i thought why not give it a shot. I bought the original instead of the 2nd mega man game which was a bit more $$$. I have to say it is a great game. I got the hang of it after a few tries. I have to say this is a GREAT mega man game to start of with.

          Philosoma--First-generation Playstation shooter
Philosoma was one of the first games developed for Sony's Playstation videogame console. Though its age can be seen today, it still holds appeal for fans of the shooter genre.

In Philosoma, a brilliant game which combines futuristic spacecraft shooting action with exciting cinematics, you play the part of a fighter squadron pilot. Your squadron is dispatched to respond to an emergency call on a mining planet. The story unfolds around the game, seamlessly blending gameplay and cinematics.

During gameplay, you control your A-37 Strega fighter craft. You will be playing from many viewpoints in this game, predominantly traditional horizontal/vertical viewpoints, but also including front/rear views, and all-new kinds of views. You have four types of weapons, pretty standard shooter stuff there, and can carry bombs.

The story is well done in comparison to other titles brought to America from Japan. The dialogue is done very well. The plot is really creepy and keeps your interest held. It involves strange, hostile biological creatures taking control of the people and machinery on the planet.

Philosoma today looks a little old, especially to younger players, but if you like good old 2D shooters it's really a fun game.

            They still sell this?
This is an OLD game. I have fond memories of this one! Basically, it's a rather simple fighting game with "gods" (Read: Monsters) battling it out for world supremecy. I guess the hook is in the characters, which kind of gets lost on the small screen. If you're looking for a more modern fighting game, and have a GameBoy Color, try Street Fighter Alpha. But if you only have an original GameBoy, or just like moster/dinosaur/ailen type things, check it out!

              Critical thinking skills
All of my children, ages 4, 6, and 8 love to play with this. We use it with the Leap Pad, so keep in mind that if you have a Leap Pad already, these Quantum Pad books are compatible (you don't have to go out and buy the Quantum Pad).

My youngest likes to try to "read" the book (although it can be difficult to point the pen directly on the correct word). He is really learning about reading left to right. If you have a beginning reader that has difficulty with some of the words, the Leap Pad can "read" a word that he or she is having trouble with.

My 6 year old can read, and enjoys playing the games. She is also learning about reading comprehension (it's not enough to just READ the words--you have to understand what you're reading)and enjoys doing the quizzes that are interspersed throughout the book.

My oldest, who read the original (paperback) book a couple of years ago, also enjoys the reading comprehension and analysis, because in her 3rd grade class, they are really starting to emphasize higher-order thinking skills.

They enjoyed doing the book report (using a form that came with the book) so much that they are using the format to do book reports for other books that they read.

Maybe my kids are just geeks, but they really enjoy doing all of this, repeatedly and for long periods of time, and I do not push it AT ALL. They are really learning a lot, and I like the way that this toy appeals to all learning styles: visual, auditory, kinesthetic (touch).

They also really love the "Magic School Bus: Lost in the Solar System." I will be seeking out as many of these books as possible. They're great!

                Old But Cool
This is the first video game I had ever owned, and I thought it was too hard until I pulled it out from underneath a pile of dust next to my old Super Nes. I played it on my Game Boy Advance, and realized it wasn't half bad. The only problem is that it has an annoying password save feature that keeps it from being really fun. But the game works well in full color, has awesome graphics, good characters, and many challenging levels. The bosses are huge (rancor monster, jabba the hutt, boba fett, darth vader etc.), but they have an easily recognizable weakness (the rancor monster's hand flashes, indicating you should hit it with your lightsaber), and the sandcrawler is quite easy, even for the first level. The game was high-tech for its time (the scout bike level is in 3-D), and it is still one of the most fun games I have.

Kooky game that succeeds despite being rough around edges
I didn't like this game much when I first started playing it. A few levels in the varied gameplay and utter wackiness won me over. The game has alot of personality, weird characters, and fast action. Graphics wise it's very dated looking, and soundwise the music is good and the sound effects are really funny.A rough gem.

Long game. Teaches you not to use all your weapons all at once. Great play. Hard to control your movement. Best game that I like when play stations first came out.
