Kite Reviews

I took my daughter to the park with it the following afternoon. We had much lighter winds (10 - 15 mph). What a blast! I got the kite up in the air for her and then let her run wild with it. Now she LOVES flying kites. After a little over a half-hour (thats about as long as a 29 month old can focus on kite flying) I took it down for her. EASY!

This Kite Almost Did the Trick!!!

I have flown it over the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania,
Mt. Michelson in the Brooks Range of Alaska at the Arctic Ocean
and in my hometown. When its up high I love it. I have put it on a line and through a fishing pole and "troll" the kite behind a boat. You sure can't have this much fun with a board game or a GameBoy.
Having a bad day??? I say..."Go fly a Kite!"

Coastal winds....HA!

The down-side of this kite is assembly. Until all of the spars are in place, they could fall out again. This is a hard one to assemble if you are not sheltered from the wind but practice will make it easier (in high winds I often assemble it inside and then take it to the launch point).
I have had this kite slam deep into a tree and was able to pull it out by the line without damage.
I recommend upgrading to 80-pound line to handle really strong winds.
One assembled, this kite launches almost effortlessly and fly in a very steady manner.

Points to note:
This kite has two strings. To make it dive to the right you pull the right-hand string. Opposite for the left. Pretty simple.
This kite is easy to assemble, and easy to disassemble again to take with you.
A strong, steady wind works best. I have had good luck at the beach.
It's easiest to launch the kite with a second person helping you. You need to set the kite down in a large, open area, walk away from the kite (into the wind) while letting out all of the string, and then have your partner hold it up into the wind while you pull evenly on both of the strings. If the wind is strong enough the kite will take right off.
Once you get a little practice, it's fun to try diving the kite as close to the ground as possible without crashing.
Happy flying!

I put it under the window in front of the house. She loved it instantly, she always pooled me towards the window to look at the Tigger and whenever we were outside we had to visit our little friend.
Now she is 18 months, she is running to him on her own just to say 'hello' and to turn the wheel.
I think it's just something fun to have around.

At six-feet across, most kids will thing this is HUGE! The large surface area and long, colorful tail make for a very attractive flier. It will remain easy to see even when you have let out hundreds of feet of line.
All in all a very nice basic kite with color and size.
Paid for what I got!

It has NO sticks to break and no parts to assemble (right up my alley!) It also does not require running to get it into the air (at least not when I flew it). That's also a plus, because I always felt silly running with a kite. This one just took off, but gracefully, almost like a floating pillow. :) The rainbow colors are beautiful, and the TAIL (not visible on the Amazon photo) is brilliantly colored and super-long! The tail also makes a pleasant rustling sound.
I think this kite would be great for a child, because there's nothing to break and it is easy to get aloft and control once in the air. Plus it really is very pretty. I would also recommend it for adults like myself, for all the same reasons.
Lets Go Fly a Kite
When we got the kite down, we were amazed by how durable it was. Despite taking a lot of abuse by the wind on the roof, it was in excellent shape.
We bought one for ourselves recently and love it (though we are more careful to stay away from obstructions now). The fact that it collapses down into such a small bag is especially wonderful. When we go to the park I can put it in my jacket pocket and if we don't end up flying it, I don't feel like I've wasted my time lugging it around.
I would recommend this kite to anyone, no matter how young or old.
