    Tony Hawk Stinks!
This game really stinks because it has no point to it. You would be better off having Tony Hawk 2, 3, or 4 for other sytems. It is a better use of money.

This is one of the beat games of the year
Tony Hawks Pro Skater 2 has to be on of the best this year. The game is easy to get into and easy to master with a little practice. The skate parks are done fabulous. You can create your own skater something that wasn't on the last version. Their's also a park editor, it's just as much fun building a park as it is playing the game. I haven't had any slow down while playing, tons of secret areas. The only drawback is the soundtrack, don't get me wrong its a great soundtrack but it doea get a little monotonous. This is a must buy game. Extremely fun great replay value, I'm sure you'll be playing for months, with all the secret charecters and parks. Have fun

You don't have to be a skater to like this game
To all of you out there, I have a confession to make...I seriously hate Skateboarding. It's everywhere ! Commercials, games (I have nothing against the Tony Hawk Series. They're cool !), TV shows, and cartoons. It's just another extreme sport that relies on too much hype. Yes, I know what you skater guys/gals are thinking right now as you're reading my review. "Man ! That guy Craig, should get his butt whooped for saying that !". But hey, that doesn't change the fact that I like Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2. Let me start off by saying that Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 is a game that everyone will enjoy. Even people who hate skateboarding will go ahead and play this one. The graphics are fully detailed and it improved over its PSX alternative. You will see your favorite pro skaters move at a smooth framerate shining with full character detail. The "skateable" enviroments look great. Now you won't have to worry about glitches or nothing like that. This is the best looking skateboarding among the Dreamcast sports games. The sound are great. From grinds, ollies, to the adrenaline pumping soundtrack. You will hear various artists like Naughty By Nature, Powerman 5000, Papa Roach, and more. You'll really love the slick controls. Pulling out tricks and specials are a cinch once you have mastered it. The biggest upgrade of the game is that you get to do manuals and doing plants on a ramp are very easy to execute. The best part of all among the game is that you get to build your own skatepark and even create your own skater. This is perhaps the best feature of all time. So great, that people never stop talking about it. With gorgeous graphics, slick controls, nicely done visuals, cool soundtrack, and new gameplay aspects, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 is one title that even skater haters should never miss.

    Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2
    Made by Activision
Age Group: 12 years and up
      Amazon base price: $14.98

The original Tony Hawk's Pro Skater was so close to perfection that the idea of dramatic improvements in the sequel seemed pretty far-fetched, but Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 offers so much more that it almost puts its predecessor to shame. The graphics are vastly improved, there are tons of new tricks to pull off, and the game has more secrets than the CIA. Even if you played the original to death, there's enough new stuff here to keep you occupied for months to come.

Pro Skater 2 is all about customization. You can still play as one of the real-world skaters represented in the game, such as Steve Caballero, Elissa Steamer, and Mr. Hawk himself, but the real fun comes from creating your own skater and rising up through the ranks. As you conquer the massive skate parks included in this release, you rack up cash to be spent on pumping up your stats or adding new tricks to your repertoire. You can specialize in verts, concentrate on your street skills, or take a more balanced approach, and the addition of manuals will let you string together tricks from either category to rack up some amazing scores. The custom options extend to a complete skate-park editor that is easy enough to use that we were creating basic arenas in less than 15 minutes. It's a thoughtful addition to one of the most purely entertaining games ever released. --T. Byrl Baker

      Pros:

      • Create-a-Skater option lets you decide on everything from the tricks you use to the shoes you wear
      • Easy-to-use park editor allows for complex creations
      • Beautiful graphics and smooth animation make this one of the best-looking sports games on any platform
      Cons:
      • Getting the hang of manuals takes some time, but once you do, watch out

A great upgrade over 2003, but worth another $...
Last Year NCAA 2003, consumed my life for well over 300+ hrs. I even played it more then Madden 2003(gasp!). But could EA sports top themselves yet again?
The answer is a resounding YES!
Nearly every aspect of last years effort has been improved, from the play-books (a huge improvement) and the # of playable teams. The biggest improvements come in the Dynasty mode, a great feature that allows you control every aspect of your team season after season. The main improvement is the addition of the sports illustrated covers, the recap the week's previous action. I swear half the fun is seeing if your team made any print.
Graphically the game make a few minor leaps in quality, more animations, and improved stadiums, but no earth-shaking changes are found.
Sound, always top notch in the series, receives a few tweaks that compliment and already stellar package. The voice over commentary is still good, but not great. I would like to hear more situational commentary then the general banter that comes from the announcers on a regular basis, but it still stands above the rest of the pack.
Gameplay is as tight as ever with a minor adjustments, on both offense and defense.
When it comes to the presentation, what was great last year, borders on just good this year. Sure a few touches where added here and there (locker room exits, cheerleaders with flags, canons etc.), but I was hoping that more improvements would have been added to heighten the atmosphere.
So are there enough upgrades to warrant another $...?????
Yes, I have to say so. This game is still light years ahead of the competition, but I hope EA doesn't get comfortable.
This game is a five star game, but in the end more upgrades should have been added so I have to pull one star from this great title.
FINAL VERDICT: 4 STARS ****, but if you purchase this game (and I do recommend it!), say good-bye to your life for awhile

      KickA** Game!
Ok, here's the scoop;People rave about this game, and they're right to do so. I'm only gonna say that the features and graphics of this game rock, and the players are more interactive than in madden '04. Allright, so here are the pros and cons:

      Pros

      1. Graphics are beautiful-I won't talk, i'll just let your imagination do the work.
      2. Trick plays terrific
      3. You have to be a true gamer to beat this right away-precise skill and timing required. I got the game the weekend after Halloween, and i've played it somewhere between 7-8 hours.
      4. Ok, with all the teams, and rivalry games, you always feel as if you are a part of it all
      5. Offseason-Sweeeet... You send your coaches to talk to potential recruits, and you make your pitch: Location, Program's prestige, etc.

Ok-I think I covered everything good

      Cons

      1. load & save times are a little long-not too bad
      2. If you've played madden '04, then you know what i'm talking about when i say that ncaa '04's create a team isn't that great in comparison. The make a stadium shtick isn't the best, but you'll have some fun anyway

Ok, I think i found something to complain about, but that's about it. So in conclusion, this game is awesome, and if you have free time, i'm sure you'll spend it in front of the tube, playing this game.

Best College Football Game I've Played
This game is so addictive. During the college football season I was playing this every day. In fact, I got through 10 seasons worth of my Ohio State Buckeyes dynasty. It takes some time to learn all of the nuances and get good enough to climb up the difficulty levels (there are 4). Precise timing and solid execution of the plays is critical at the higher levels. Also required is smart playcalling. In other words, you can't be good at this game if you don't know football stratgey at least fairly well. That's a good thing.

The graphics are up to the high level that current EA titles should be. The plays and moves actually develop and look like they would in real life for the most part. The controls are just right but will take a while to get used to and you'll find the moves that you'll rely on before too long. Similarly you will find the plays and formations that work best for you after a few games. This will vary by team depending what each team is good at.

What surprised me most was the offseason. Sometimes I actually preferred the recruiting to the hunt for the national title. It felt good to try to reload the squad every year. There is also a correlation between how well you play and how many players ditch you for the NFL. The more you dominate, the more spots you will have to fill each year as key players jump.

All in all, a very fun game that is the best simulation-style to date for NCAA football.

      Yu-Gi-Oh! Starter Deck: Joey
Made by Vintage Sports Cards, Inc.
      Age Group: 8 - 10 years
        Amazon base price: $12.99
Yu-Gi-Oh Starter Deck: Joey Even if you are a rocket scientist and/or a brain surgeon, you will still need the help of a ten-year old to explain the rules of Yu-Gi-Oh! to you. Based on the card game played by characters in the animated television series of the same name, Yu-Gi-Oh! involves magic, monsters, and duels--its rules are as complex as some building codes, but this seems only to have contributed to the phenomenal popularity of the game. This is a starter deck of YGO cards, with beautifully printed color details that even non-fans can appreciate, and a booklet explaining those infamous rules. There is also a cheap paper "game mat" that is only an afterthought at best. --David Stoesz

Good, but without a doubt the worst starter deck available
This deck has some pretty good cards such as Penguin soldier and scapegoat, but it also has some bad-as-(censored) cards such as Red-eyes black dragon, thousand dragon, and swordsman of landstar. Whatever you do, do not waste your time with those cards. Really only good for Penguin soldier and scapegoat. But the game is very fun, even though it's not as good as Magic: the Gathering.

        I'm lovin'it!
My brother got this deck for his birthday & it was amazing! If you have Kaiba's deck fuse them together to make an unbeatleble deck. It's time to dudududuuell!

A very good starter deck, it's got a great amount of value!!
Hmmm..... Hi there peoples, I did a review on the Pegasus deck, too!!! Anyhow, my grandma sent my brother and sister this deck, and they both loved it, so I gave it a try. Man oh man it's got some good cards in it! I especially like the Red-Eyes Black Dragon, but the only problem is that it's one of the best cards in my deck, because my deck is pretty weak... It has a Mountain card, though, so if you have a lot of Dragon, Winged Beast or Thunder- Type monsters (Which I want to get more of, I only have 4-5 Dragons, 3-4 Winged Beast, and one Thunder-Type, but I'm planning to get more...) If you are into getting some good cards, I'd recomend this deck 100%!

        Virtua Tennis
Made by Sega of America, Inc.
Age Group: 5 years and up
          Amazon base price: $4.98
          List price: $39.99 (that's 88% off!)
          Used price: $2.89
Buy one from zShops for: $8.49
Even if you're not fond of sports titles in general, the simple pick-up-and-play feel and speedy on-court action in Virtua Tennis make it a worthy addition to any game library. Sega did an excellent job making sure even those unfamiliar with the rules and strategy of tennis will be able to jump right into the game. With a little practice you can pop lobs, perform an overhead smash, or even return the ball with a through-the-legs trick shot.

Starting the game presents three game modes. Arcade mode is a direct translation of the coin-operated arcade game in which you must defeat five challengers in order to win a championship. Exhibition mode allows you to choose a player and then challenge any of the other available tennis players in singles or doubles matches. World Circuit mode casts the player as a tennis superstar, touring the world and competing for heaps of cash and worldwide rank.

If you're looking to play as one of the top tennis aces in the world, you're going to be disappointed. No Sampras, Agassi, or any other tennis giants are to be found. Rather, you're stuck with 16 smaller names including Jim Courier, Carlos Moyà, and Yevgeny Kafelnikov. Despite the recent boom in popularity, the women's tennis circuit is unfortunately completely absent.

Sega's presentation and graphics are very well done and could almost be mistaken for a real televised match. Details such as the crowds, line judges, and instant replays look stunning. It's a shame that Virtua Tennis doesn't feature the famous venues and tournaments of real tennis, but the game's imitation stadiums in England, New York, and France look close enough to be recognizable. The player graphics are fantastic. Each player displays plenty of detail in everything from facial expressions to sneaker logos. Both the TV-style overhead view and the behind-the-shoulder viewpoints feature animation that's almost always ultrasmooth and is guaranteed to keep your eyes glued to the screen. --Mark Brooks

          Pros:

          • Amazing graphics
          • Easy to play yet hard to master
          Cons:
          • You can play as real tennis players, but not as tennis superstars
          • Strictly arcade--not particularly deep gameplay
          Content advisory: No objectionable content

          SOLD OUT everywhere!
You cannot guess how many places I went to just to buy this game! Every place I went to was SOLD OUT! It took me several weeks until I finally located one. Now I can understand why this game is so hot. The game is great! The graphics and the motion of the characters are superb. It gives you 3 game modes, (1)Arcade-which is just like the coin-op arcade version, which I never get to play because there's always someone on it, (2)Exhibition-which is similar to Arcade, but you can change the different settings and (3)World Circuit-which is like a season mode where you start off ranked #300 and have to work your way up by challanging other players. You also have to earn money to unlock secret characters, clothing, new strings and others. What's cool about the World Circuit is that it has these mini-type games (similar to what Crazy Taxi has).

The biggest disappointment is that it has real tennis players, but NO SUPERSTARS such as Agassi & Sampras. They could have at least made a "create a player" mode. Overall the game is simple. The buttons are easy to remember, no need to read the instructions. Also, the overall menu operation isn't complicated at all. Just think of it as PONG with outstanding graphics!

          great
Not many tennis games keep me interested for long, but this isn't the case with the addictive play in VIRTUA TENNIS. The graphics are stunning as players look lifelike and the courts truly look as though you're playing at Wimbeldon or the French Open. The gameplay is simple, but also presents a challenge to master, especially in heated two-player matches. The two-player singles matches seem to always be competitive with several games coming to deuces. The world circuit mode isn't as difficult as some here have said, but it has kept me busy with the many levels and training modes that must be completed. I'm not sure why Sega chose not to include women, but it surely was a mistake. Actually, I think more people recognize Davenport, Hingis, Seles, and the Williams sisters than they do the men, besides of course Sampras and Aggasi who are absent in this game. A deeper world circuit mode, more options, and obviously more players would have helped make this game better, but overall there's not a better tennis game available. This game puts WORLD SERIES BASEBALL 2K1, which was released around the same time with more hype, to shame. I can't wait for the sequel to VIRTUA TENNIS

Best Tennis Game Ever Created for Sega Dreamcast!
This is one of the best tennis games ever created for the Sega Dreamcast.

Graphics: 10/10- Game takes FULL advantage of Sega Dreamcast's Graphics

Gameplay: 10/10- It feels like you really are playing tennis.

Difficulty: VARIES- You can choose the difficulty level that suits you best by going to the options menu.

          NBA Street Vol 2
          Made by Electronic Arts
Age Group: 5 years and up
            Amazon base price: $19.99
            List price: $49.99 (that's 60% off!)
            Used price: $14.95
Buy one from zShops for: $17.99
We could say that NBA Street 2 is the shizzle, or the sheezy, or the shizzit, but we won't--even though it is. You'll get enough street talk playing the game. Street 2 is just the best basketball game yet.

Although it is an official NBA product, the fact that it's playground ball liberates Street 2 from the confines of fan reverence. Instead, especially in the "Be a Legend" option, it has a great sense of humor about itself. The boss of each city, once defeated, can be added to the player's roster--and although they are caricatures, they're fondly and funnily done.

Among the best are Stretch (a dunker from Harlem), Dime (a female ballstealer who resembles the singer Pink) and Osmosis (an Oakland version of "It" player Yao Ming). Our prediction? Kids who see Street 2 will not only want to play the game, they'll want to be street legends themselves when they grow up.

And speaking of kids: parents couldn't find a kid- or teen-friendlier game. There's no adult language, and the color commentary is fantastic. It's much improved from the original game's repetitive "MJ, go on with your bad self" patter. Bobbito Garcia, a real-life streetball announcer, should get a "nice work" bonus. For that matter, so should the ambience-noise guys, who included, for example, a single cellphone ring in the background. Clever.

Those not inclined to love sports games should trust in Street 2--it's visually brilliant, witty, and don't-take-it-away-from-me addictive. True basketball fans should get this game immediately, if not sooner. They'll best appreciate that all the old time players have their moment in the sun; for example, 5,000 points unlocks Dr. J, and a billboard between sets advertises Bill Russell and other pioneers. Classic hip-hop from artists like MC Lyte rounds out the impressive package. Kudos to gamemaker EA Sports Big for taking it to the hole. --Jennifer Buckendorff

Don't be fooled by the high ratings
Sure, the graphics and gameplay in NBA Street Vol. 2 are good, but you'll play this game maybe a week before it ends up gather dust in your collection. There really is no replay value to it. As the game is only $20, I wouldn't call it a waste of money. Mark my words, however, you'll quickly tire of this title.

            Addictive Love
When I first bouight this game is was hard at first (Obviously playing in "Legend" mode) however once you get the hang of it and start pullin off crazy trick moves (and these are REAL LIFE MOVES, if you don't believe me pick up one of the AND 1 Mix Tape DVD's) the game is highly addictive. Depending on you're created players tendencies he'll earn a certain nickname (if he's a defensive monster, a scoring machine, drops constant dimes, a pick-pocket, etc..). Be a legend mode is really the heart of the game as you start out with a bunch of baller wanna-be's playing in tournaments. However once you steal some of the players off other teams you beat your supporting cast becomes better which makes your player less awful and able to pick up points to boost your players abilities. If your good enough in the long run you'll end up aquiring Stretch, Biggie Little, Dime, Osmosis and the other unlockable street lengends (mind you these are REAL life ballers, not people made up by the game).

NBA Challenge is nice and better when you build up your created player and end up schooling the old heads.

Gamebreakers are much easier to pull off when you pullin off crazy tricks (sick alley-oops, ankle-breakin ball handling which translates into points, or even better into an alley-oop). The more combination of tricks, the higher the trick points which will get your gamebreaker metter lighting up after scoring only 3 or 4 points. The key is if you keep using the same trick the same times in a row, you get less trick points after the first time you used it, and you don't want players like Shaq tryin to do "off the heezies" when he has no ball-handling skills cause you'll lose points for the ball getting stolen.

The game is endless, unlocking M&N (Mitchell & Ness) throwback jerseys, old school players like Doc, Bird, Magic, Pistol, Wilt, The Ice-Man. Get it cause I said so!

            Lace em Up!
Yep this game has lived up to every ounce of the hype and praise it has received. Everyone pretty much told you about the game but I'll give you a breakdown.

            Pros:
*Osmosis---this cat is THE TRUTH...he can completely change the course of a game in two or three plays
·Street Legends such as MJ, Magic, Pistol Pete, Earl The Pearl Monroe and Tiny Archibald
·More and better moves and dunks ( Off The Heezay, back 2 Papa)
·Custom moves--- now every player doesn't have the same moves and each legend and street player has their own custom move...you can mix and match these different dunks and moves on your created player
·Trick Points- now the game rewards you for those sick moves and then pulling up for a sweet jumper right in someone's eye. No longer do you have to finish the play with a dunk to get lots of trick points...I picked up 50,000 pts. off a regular play..no gamebreaker involved. Level 2 GB are also welcomed.
·Be A Legend Mode-now the game has EXPONENTIALLY more replay value...this mode is long
·The difficulty has been raised (until you max out like three characters )...no longer can you get Bonafide and just rip through the defense with very little trouble...nope now they can trick counter to steal the ball
            ·Better defense
·Better music and commentary (thank the lord) Just Blaze, Nate Dogg, Talib Kweli, MC Lyte...they even include the classic masterpiece Pete Rock & CL Smooth's T.R.O.Y.!!!

            Cons:
·You can only put 5 players on a team
·The legends pretty much suck when you get them on your team...they are good when you play them but it seems like they get sorrier when you add them to your team. Whitewater just plain out sucks.
·Rebounds...when the computer wants the rebound they get it. One time I had my custom player who's specialty is boards, Kobe Bryant, and ben Wallace vying for a board at the same time and Biggie Little who is 5'4'' 90lbs comes up with the rebound. Ridiculous!
·It seems like once you get the gamebreaker it is impossible to steal the ball from the computer, even though you had been stealing the ball all game, they manage to keep it away from you...then they shoot it from half court and get the rebound therefore successfully running out your GB.
·Hookups aint what they used to be---you are lucky to get 15000 pts. Off a hookup alley oop with all members involved
            · Crowds are wack and unexcited

As you have read the Pros far outweigh the Cons. This is probably the best game I have ever played and it's even more fun when you have friends to play it with. This is a greater game than the first one by far. 5 stars...must have.

            10x better than SSX Tricky!!!
This game 3 times faster than SSX Tricky. The speed is more in the vein of Downhill Domination. Thank goodness! The only reason why I bought SSX Tricky was because I thought the game was as fast a Downhill D. due to user's review. Good thing I traded in SSX T for this. Graphics are a step up from SSX T. Characters look more modern. I miss the character interaction cutscenes from SSX T though. The size of the mountain is HUGE!!! Plus it has avalanches. And to think, I made myself LIKE SSX Tricky! Recommended if you like awesome speed/fan of Downhill D., xtreme sports, and if your not a fan of either, just try it. These games made me a fan of the genre (I'm into RPGs). Get or at least rent them to experience masterpieces

            A real "2.0" leap. Creative, fun, interesting...better!
I don't play a lot of video games, but have always been fond of SSX and SSX Tricky. The gameplay, characters, details, and creativity impressed me (and got me excited to get out on the real mountain.

The developers of the game have taken a risk by choosing a new setting (new courses) and breaking the mold of the previous two games in several places. They've succeeded, imo, 100% in providing a different variety of game that takes the best from previous SSX games.

Still great: the characters, attention to whimsical details, consistent controls that are intuitive, room for exploration, rewards for advancement, wonderful audio

Different (and more enjoyable): less waiting around (wasn't that the very worst part of previous games?) for "cool" transitions between game modes; more audio track variety; a more organic feel to the competitions; rails a bigger part of the game

            Some fun notes:
            - the snow is rendered in a noticeably improved way. The shades and use of light and sound is just excellent
            - rewards system offers more flexibility (no more just boosting speed and tricks and screw everything else). The first time you visit the lodge, you'll agree and start to realize they put a lot of thought into this aspect of the game

Overall: I was in love with the 1st game and Tricky was a wild sequel, but more of an interim release. SSX 3 will sneak up on you, because the gameplay probably doesn't lend itself to marketing the 'features'. It lends itself to playing and enjoying tremendously!

SSX 3 THE ULTIMATE SNOWBOARDING GAME
I played the heck out of the orginial and thought Tricky was OK, not bad but not as good at the original. Part 3 is mindblowing, I find myself wondering how the PS2 can move the graphics around so quick without slowing down. This game is one of the very few that I can honestly say is worth the $50 price tag. It has 3 giganticly huge parts of the mountain to play through each with tons of different things to do, explore and beat. The levels are HUGE! Jaw droping slopes and tricks that are more complex and fast that your mind can process. There are tons of riders and a great ammount of secret characters. It's not easy and it's not hard, it's just right. Pick up a copy and you will find it hard to hold down the reset button on your PS2. The soundtrack is the best! My type of grooves! You can also play online with other players!! Just need the modem and a ISP account...wow! It is a game that is full of sooo much replay value, there are TONS of things to beat and master...excellent work EA SPORTS!

              Best Skateboarding Game
From Thps 1 all the way to Thps 4 this game has improved in everyway possible. You (the player) will play this game for hours because it is so fun. This game has amazing graphics, lots of fun/challenging goals, HUGE levels. You get all of the skaters that you had over the years of playing tony hawk pro skater, new secret characters, and of course my favorite "make your own skater." The thing i like a lot about the career mode is that there is no time limit, so you get to skate and not be all worried about hurring up, the only time you get a time limit is when you accept a mission from a person in the streets...thats right folks you get to talk to people in the streets and they tell you what to do, FUN! If i could change one thing about this game then i think it would be NOTHING. People just trust me on this one, YOU WILL LIKE THIS GAME.

Quite Possibly Better Than it's Excellent Predecessor
I had played a demo of this game, that offered about half of the first level. And having been a Tony Hawk's Pro Skater fan since the very first game came out on Playstation 1, I didn't know what to expect from the new career mode. After playing the demo I was a little disappointed. Sure, the skating was as wonderful as ever, and the level design was still pure genius, but there was something about the new career mode that bugged me.
In case you did not know, the career mode for Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 is much different from the first three games in the series. It is basically a Free Skate until you talk to one of many characters in the levels that will give you goals, lots of which are similar to goals in the first three games, but many of which are new.
Anyway, after renting the game and playing through it I am pleased to say that the new career mode is awesome. Once given a chance, it is truly amazing, and almost all of the level objectives are extremely entertaining. The objectives do get incredibly difficult about half way through though, and it'll be tough completing all of them, but hang in there, because its worht it. A gem.

Great Skateboarding Game! Great Replay Value!
This is the newest Tony hawk Pro Skater game (Not counting Tony Hawks Underground)

In this game you get to play as one of the following: Tony Hawk, Steve Caballero, Kareem Campbell, Rune Glifburg, Eric Koston, Bucky Lasek, Bam Margera, Rodney Mullen, Chad Muska, Andrew Reynolds, Geoff Rowley, Elissa Steamer, and they even brought back Bob Burnquist! You can also play as a custom player. (My personal favorite is Rodney Mullen)

Unlike the first 3 THPS games, in this one you don't have a time limit to do the objectives! Instead, you just skate up to people and press circle around them and they will ask you to do something. If you don't complete the objective you just press start and choose "Retry Last Goal" and you can try it again, saving time and not having to restart the level.

I really like the levels in this game. they are challenging and fun. I love the music in this game too, in fact, one of the songs is by my favorite band!

There's not much they could do to make it better. It's got great replay value, because you'll want to beat the game with each player! And you could just go for a free ride if you dont feel like doing objectives. I think this is the best THPS game so far.

              10/10

World Soccer Winning Eleven 6 International
              Made by Konami
Age Group: 5 years and up
                Amazon base price: $39.99
The first thing that strikes you about Winning Eleven 6 International--also known as Pro Evolution Soccer 2 in the UK--is how much faster it is, not just in terms of the pace of your players but also their ability to turn more sharply when receiving the ball. In another clear attempt to up the tempo of the game, which some more arcade-orientated gamers complained was too slow and fiddly, players now recover much more quickly when they lose the ball. There's no waiting around for them to take part in the match again. And it's now much more difficult to tackle and, conversely, you have a lot more control when dribbling the ball. There are other minor changes, such as a slightly odd new horizontal camera option, but basically this is bigger, better, and more. Just in case you've forgotten, that's bigger, better, and more of the best football game ever made. --David Jenkins, Amazon.co.uk

                Great football sim
For years, EA Sports' FIFA series has been the definitive soccer game in the U.S. However, Konami's Winning Eleven 6, which has been the most popular soccer game in Europe and Japan all these years, makes FIFA look like Midway's Red Card games, which is not necessarily a bad thing. But if you are looking for real football, like you see in the World Cup, this is the game you want to get. Winning Eleven is much more realistic. If you sprint while dribbling, you have to worry about the ball being too far in front of you. There are no cheap goals where you sprint past the last defender and take a cheap shot at the keeper. I played a game earlier today where the final score was 1-0. I had six shots, the computer had four. Those are realistic stats. Every attack has to be strategically thought out and executed carefully. When you do score, you feel like you earned it.

I only have a couple of complaints about the game. First, there is a limited selection of teams. In FIFA, just about every club team imaginable is available to play. Here, you just have the biggest national teams and a few club teams. Also, there is no world cup mode. There is a season mode, and a few other cup modes, as well as an excellent master league mode where you build a team and play through several seasons. And finally, the issue that plagues most sports games, A.I. Every once in awhile you can see one of your players just standing there watching the guy with the ball run right by him.

These issues aside, Winning Eleven 6 is a pretty good game. If you want a fun game to play with friends where you can score a bunch of high-five inducing goals, then stick with FIFA. But if you want real football, this is the game.

Finally, a Konami soccer game for the U.S. fans!
First of all, I have to say that I spent more time playing International Superstar Soccer for the N64 than any other video game. Konami is THE authority on soccer video games...period. Forget EA--the only reason I would consider playing their games is the official FIFA license, which is the only thing Konami's games don't have. That and photo-realistic graphics, but Konami's games have always placed substance over style. Winning Eleven 6 runs circles around FIFA 2004 in the gameplay department. Well, actually it doesn't, but that's the whole point--you won't see guys dribbling past an entire defense to score a goal. The game requires real-life strategy and finesse, and the CPU opponent is a worthy challenge even on the third difficulty level. All things considered, this is the best sports game I have ever played. If you're even remotely interested in soccer, play this game.

THIS IS GONNA BE THE BEST SOCCER GAME EVER!
i'm buying this game the first day it comes out! (along with 007: everything or nothing) i have played Winning Eleven Six International on a demo, and it was just amazing. i can understand now why everyone is so hyped up about this game!

                  The most complete review
NHL 2002 improves some of the minor problems 2001 had, but forgets some basics:
                  1. The load times aren't nearly as bad, but they are kind of annoying if you play a couple games in a row
                  2. There is a dynasty mode, but I haven't gotten past the first year, so I don't know how cool it is
                  3. The fighting is still atrocious. If you take any time to try and watch the two players fighting, you have already lost. It is nothing more than a button-mashing contest. EA needs to incorporate a grabbing button or a block button or slow the process down somehow, because fighting should be one of the highlights of a hockey game, (as it was in the 16-bit days) not one of the lowlights. This is very disappointing.
                  4. The idea of replaying a big check or big save while the puck is still live is confusing at first, but it is very cool once you become accustomed to it. This can be bothersome while playing the computer, but it's pretty awesome when they replay a big save while you're playing a friend.

Much, much, more to say, but I am in study hall and I must go to class. I will finish review more in-depth soon. In conclusion, buy it.

                  Pretty darn good...
I've now gotten used to the 2002 version and it is a pretty enjoyable game. Gameplay is excellent and fairly realistic. I have not been a fan of the EA hockey series because they've always focused on 'flashiness' and too little on realistic gameplay. While the gameplay in 2002 is not perfectly realistic, it is a whole lot better than the previous versions.

Goals are not as easy to score in the 2002 versions. Goalies make better saves. The inclusion of the 'saucer pass' is just really superb...I'm addicted to it. I still don't like the way the players shoot the puck, and MAN I wish they would get rid of that STUPID comet's tail on the puck when it's shot...that is SOOOOO annoying. One other thing that I really get annoyed about in all of the EA series is when a goal is scored the red lamp immediately turns on...I mean within a nano-second of the puck crossing the line. I just love, in real-life hockey, the puck hitting the net and bouncing off the net...I wish they would incorporate that in the game. But, maybe that's being a little too picky...oh well, like I always say...'maybe they'll do that next year'.

                  best hockey game around
this is the best hockey game ever ... this game is perfect if only they didn't put Mario Lemieux on the cover
