Pro Skater 2 is all about customization. You can still play as one of the real-world skaters represented in the game, such as Steve Caballero, Elissa Steamer, and Mr. Hawk himself, but the real fun comes from creating your own skater and rising up through the ranks. As you conquer the massive skate parks included in this release, you rack up cash to be spent on pumping up your stats or adding new tricks to your repertoire. You can specialize in verts, concentrate on your street skills, or take a more balanced approach, and the addition of manuals will let you string together tricks from either category to rack up some amazing scores. The custom options extend to a complete skate-park editor that is easy enough to use that we were creating basic arenas in less than 15 minutes. It's a thoughtful addition to one of the most purely entertaining games ever released. --T. Byrl Baker
Pros:
- Create-a-Skater option lets you decide on everything from the tricks you use to the shoes you wear
- Easy-to-use park editor allows for complex creations
- Beautiful graphics and smooth animation make this one of the best-looking sports games on any platform
- Getting the hang of manuals takes some time, but once you do, watch out

A great upgrade over 2003, but worth another $...The answer is a resounding YES!
Nearly every aspect of last years effort has been improved, from the play-books (a huge improvement) and the # of playable teams. The biggest improvements come in the Dynasty mode, a great feature that allows you control every aspect of your team season after season. The main improvement is the addition of the sports illustrated covers, the recap the week's previous action. I swear half the fun is seeing if your team made any print.
Graphically the game make a few minor leaps in quality, more animations, and improved stadiums, but no earth-shaking changes are found.
Sound, always top notch in the series, receives a few tweaks that compliment and already stellar package. The voice over commentary is still good, but not great. I would like to hear more situational commentary then the general banter that comes from the announcers on a regular basis, but it still stands above the rest of the pack.
Gameplay is as tight as ever with a minor adjustments, on both offense and defense.
When it comes to the presentation, what was great last year, borders on just good this year. Sure a few touches where added here and there (locker room exits, cheerleaders with flags, canons etc.), but I was hoping that more improvements would have been added to heighten the atmosphere.
So are there enough upgrades to warrant another $...?????
Yes, I have to say so. This game is still light years ahead of the competition, but I hope EA doesn't get comfortable.
This game is a five star game, but in the end more upgrades should have been added so I have to pull one star from this great title.
FINAL VERDICT: 4 STARS ****, but if you purchase this game (and I do recommend it!), say good-bye to your life for awhile
KickA** Game!Pros
1. Graphics are beautiful-I won't talk, i'll just let your imagination do the work.
2. Trick plays terrific
3. You have to be a true gamer to beat this right away-precise skill and timing required. I got the game the weekend after Halloween, and i've played it somewhere between 7-8 hours.
4. Ok, with all the teams, and rivalry games, you always feel as if you are a part of it all
5. Offseason-Sweeeet... You send your coaches to talk to potential recruits, and you make your pitch: Location, Program's prestige, etc.
Ok-I think I covered everything good
Cons
1. load & save times are a little long-not too bad
2. If you've played madden '04, then you know what i'm talking about when i say that ncaa '04's create a team isn't that great in comparison. The make a stadium shtick isn't the best, but you'll have some fun anyway
Ok, I think i found something to complain about, but that's about it. So in conclusion, this game is awesome, and if you have free time, i'm sure you'll spend it in front of the tube, playing this game.
Best College Football Game I've PlayedThe graphics are up to the high level that current EA titles should be. The plays and moves actually develop and look like they would in real life for the most part. The controls are just right but will take a while to get used to and you'll find the moves that you'll rely on before too long. Similarly you will find the plays and formations that work best for you after a few games. This will vary by team depending what each team is good at.
What surprised me most was the offseason. Sometimes I actually preferred the recruiting to the hunt for the national title. It felt good to try to reload the squad every year. There is also a correlation between how well you play and how many players ditch you for the NFL. The more you dominate, the more spots you will have to fill each year as key players jump.
All in all, a very fun game that is the best simulation-style to date for NCAA football.

Starting the game presents three game modes. Arcade mode is a direct translation of the coin-operated arcade game in which you must defeat five challengers in order to win a championship. Exhibition mode allows you to choose a player and then challenge any of the other available tennis players in singles or doubles matches. World Circuit mode casts the player as a tennis superstar, touring the world and competing for heaps of cash and worldwide rank.
If you're looking to play as one of the top tennis aces in the world, you're going to be disappointed. No Sampras, Agassi, or any other tennis giants are to be found. Rather, you're stuck with 16 smaller names including Jim Courier, Carlos Moyà, and Yevgeny Kafelnikov. Despite the recent boom in popularity, the women's tennis circuit is unfortunately completely absent.
Sega's presentation and graphics are very well done and could almost be mistaken for a real televised match. Details such as the crowds, line judges, and instant replays look stunning. It's a shame that Virtua Tennis doesn't feature the famous venues and tournaments of real tennis, but the game's imitation stadiums in England, New York, and France look close enough to be recognizable. The player graphics are fantastic. Each player displays plenty of detail in everything from facial expressions to sneaker logos. Both the TV-style overhead view and the behind-the-shoulder viewpoints feature animation that's almost always ultrasmooth and is guaranteed to keep your eyes glued to the screen. --Mark Brooks
Pros:
- Amazing graphics
- Easy to play yet hard to master
- You can play as real tennis players, but not as tennis superstars
- Strictly arcade--not particularly deep gameplay

SOLD OUT everywhere! The biggest disappointment is that it has real tennis players, but NO SUPERSTARS such as Agassi & Sampras. They could have at least made a "create a player" mode. Overall the game is simple. The buttons are easy to remember, no need to read the instructions. Also, the overall menu operation isn't complicated at all. Just think of it as PONG with outstanding graphics!
great

Although it is an official NBA product, the fact that it's playground ball liberates Street 2 from the confines of fan reverence. Instead, especially in the "Be a Legend" option, it has a great sense of humor about itself. The boss of each city, once defeated, can be added to the player's roster--and although they are caricatures, they're fondly and funnily done.
Among the best are Stretch (a dunker from Harlem), Dime (a female ballstealer who resembles the singer Pink) and Osmosis (an Oakland version of "It" player Yao Ming). Our prediction? Kids who see Street 2 will not only want to play the game, they'll want to be street legends themselves when they grow up.
And speaking of kids: parents couldn't find a kid- or teen-friendlier game. There's no adult language, and the color commentary is fantastic. It's much improved from the original game's repetitive "MJ, go on with your bad self" patter. Bobbito Garcia, a real-life streetball announcer, should get a "nice work" bonus. For that matter, so should the ambience-noise guys, who included, for example, a single cellphone ring in the background. Clever.
Those not inclined to love sports games should trust in Street 2--it's visually brilliant, witty, and don't-take-it-away-from-me addictive. True basketball fans should get this game immediately, if not sooner. They'll best appreciate that all the old time players have their moment in the sun; for example, 5,000 points unlocks Dr. J, and a billboard between sets advertises Bill Russell and other pioneers. Classic hip-hop from artists like MC Lyte rounds out the impressive package. Kudos to gamemaker EA Sports Big for taking it to the hole. --Jennifer Buckendorff

Don't be fooled by the high ratings
Addictive LoveNBA Challenge is nice and better when you build up your created player and end up schooling the old heads.
Gamebreakers are much easier to pull off when you pullin off crazy tricks (sick alley-oops, ankle-breakin ball handling which translates into points, or even better into an alley-oop). The more combination of tricks, the higher the trick points which will get your gamebreaker metter lighting up after scoring only 3 or 4 points. The key is if you keep using the same trick the same times in a row, you get less trick points after the first time you used it, and you don't want players like Shaq tryin to do "off the heezies" when he has no ball-handling skills cause you'll lose points for the ball getting stolen.
The game is endless, unlocking M&N (Mitchell & Ness) throwback jerseys, old school players like Doc, Bird, Magic, Pistol, Wilt, The Ice-Man. Get it cause I said so!
Lace em Up!Pros:
*Osmosis---this cat is THE TRUTH...he can completely change the course of a game in two or three plays
·Street Legends such as MJ, Magic, Pistol Pete, Earl The Pearl Monroe and Tiny Archibald
·More and better moves and dunks ( Off The Heezay, back 2 Papa)
·Custom moves--- now every player doesn't have the same moves and each legend and street player has their own custom move...you can mix and match these different dunks and moves on your created player
·Trick Points- now the game rewards you for those sick moves and then pulling up for a sweet jumper right in someone's eye. No longer do you have to finish the play with a dunk to get lots of trick points...I picked up 50,000 pts. off a regular play..no gamebreaker involved. Level 2 GB are also welcomed.
·Be A Legend Mode-now the game has EXPONENTIALLY more replay value...this mode is long
·The difficulty has been raised (until you max out like three characters )...no longer can you get Bonafide and just rip through the defense with very little trouble...nope now they can trick counter to steal the ball
·Better defense
·Better music and commentary (thank the lord) Just Blaze, Nate Dogg, Talib Kweli, MC Lyte...they even include the classic masterpiece Pete Rock & CL Smooth's T.R.O.Y.!!!
Cons:
·You can only put 5 players on a team
·The legends pretty much suck when you get them on your team...they are good when you play them but it seems like they get sorrier when you add them to your team. Whitewater just plain out sucks.
·Rebounds...when the computer wants the rebound they get it. One time I had my custom player who's specialty is boards, Kobe Bryant, and ben Wallace vying for a board at the same time and Biggie Little who is 5'4'' 90lbs comes up with the rebound. Ridiculous!
·It seems like once you get the gamebreaker it is impossible to steal the ball from the computer, even though you had been stealing the ball all game, they manage to keep it away from you...then they shoot it from half court and get the rebound therefore successfully running out your GB.
·Hookups aint what they used to be---you are lucky to get 15000 pts. Off a hookup alley oop with all members involved
· Crowds are wack and unexcited
As you have read the Pros far outweigh the Cons. This is probably the best game I have ever played and it's even more fun when you have friends to play it with. This is a greater game than the first one by far. 5 stars...must have.

A real "2.0" leap. Creative, fun, interesting...better!The developers of the game have taken a risk by choosing a new setting (new courses) and breaking the mold of the previous two games in several places. They've succeeded, imo, 100% in providing a different variety of game that takes the best from previous SSX games.
Still great: the characters, attention to whimsical details, consistent controls that are intuitive, room for exploration, rewards for advancement, wonderful audio
Different (and more enjoyable): less waiting around (wasn't that the very worst part of previous games?) for "cool" transitions between game modes; more audio track variety; a more organic feel to the competitions; rails a bigger part of the game
Some fun notes:
- the snow is rendered in a noticeably improved way. The shades and use of light and sound is just excellent
- rewards system offers more flexibility (no more just boosting speed and tricks and screw everything else). The first time you visit the lodge, you'll agree and start to realize they put a lot of thought into this aspect of the game
Overall: I was in love with the 1st game and Tricky was a wild sequel, but more of an interim release. SSX 3 will sneak up on you, because the gameplay probably doesn't lend itself to marketing the 'features'. It lends itself to playing and enjoying tremendously!

Best Skateboarding Game
Quite Possibly Better Than it's Excellent PredecessorIn case you did not know, the career mode for Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 is much different from the first three games in the series. It is basically a Free Skate until you talk to one of many characters in the levels that will give you goals, lots of which are similar to goals in the first three games, but many of which are new.
Anyway, after renting the game and playing through it I am pleased to say that the new career mode is awesome. Once given a chance, it is truly amazing, and almost all of the level objectives are extremely entertaining. The objectives do get incredibly difficult about half way through though, and it'll be tough completing all of them, but hang in there, because its worht it. A gem.
Great Skateboarding Game! Great Replay Value! In this game you get to play as one of the following: Tony Hawk, Steve Caballero, Kareem Campbell, Rune Glifburg, Eric Koston, Bucky Lasek, Bam Margera, Rodney Mullen, Chad Muska, Andrew Reynolds, Geoff Rowley, Elissa Steamer, and they even brought back Bob Burnquist! You can also play as a custom player. (My personal favorite is Rodney Mullen)
Unlike the first 3 THPS games, in this one you don't have a time limit to do the objectives! Instead, you just skate up to people and press circle around them and they will ask you to do something. If you don't complete the objective you just press start and choose "Retry Last Goal" and you can try it again, saving time and not having to restart the level.
I really like the levels in this game. they are challenging and fun. I love the music in this game too, in fact, one of the songs is by my favorite band!
There's not much they could do to make it better. It's got great replay value, because you'll want to beat the game with each player! And you could just go for a free ride if you dont feel like doing objectives. I think this is the best THPS game so far.
10/10

Great football simI only have a couple of complaints about the game. First, there is a limited selection of teams. In FIFA, just about every club team imaginable is available to play. Here, you just have the biggest national teams and a few club teams. Also, there is no world cup mode. There is a season mode, and a few other cup modes, as well as an excellent master league mode where you build a team and play through several seasons. And finally, the issue that plagues most sports games, A.I. Every once in awhile you can see one of your players just standing there watching the guy with the ball run right by him.
These issues aside, Winning Eleven 6 is a pretty good game. If you want a fun game to play with friends where you can score a bunch of high-five inducing goals, then stick with FIFA. But if you want real football, this is the game.
Finally, a Konami soccer game for the U.S. fans!

See the action from a whole new angle with the breakaway cam and live as the hero of the most exciting play in hockey. Show off crazy skills and dazzling moves to earn cards for boosts, cheats, and other cool stuff. With the EA GameStory feature, go in a whole new direction and follow the game's plot in cinematic and audible detail. Come from behind by pumping up your home crowd or quieting the thronging masses. An emotion meter gauges the crowd's reactions, and your team will respond.

The most complete review1. The load times aren't nearly as bad, but they are kind of annoying if you play a couple games in a row
2. There is a dynasty mode, but I haven't gotten past the first year, so I don't know how cool it is
3. The fighting is still atrocious. If you take any time to try and watch the two players fighting, you have already lost. It is nothing more than a button-mashing contest. EA needs to incorporate a grabbing button or a block button or slow the process down somehow, because fighting should be one of the highlights of a hockey game, (as it was in the 16-bit days) not one of the lowlights. This is very disappointing.
4. The idea of replaying a big check or big save while the puck is still live is confusing at first, but it is very cool once you become accustomed to it. This can be bothersome while playing the computer, but it's pretty awesome when they replay a big save while you're playing a friend.
Much, much, more to say, but I am in study hall and I must go to class. I will finish review more in-depth soon. In conclusion, buy it.
Pretty darn good...Goals are not as easy to score in the 2002 versions. Goalies make better saves. The inclusion of the 'saucer pass' is just really superb...I'm addicted to it. I still don't like the way the players shoot the puck, and MAN I wish they would get rid of that STUPID comet's tail on the puck when it's shot...that is SOOOOO annoying. One other thing that I really get annoyed about in all of the EA series is when a goal is scored the red lamp immediately turns on...I mean within a nano-second of the puck crossing the line. I just love, in real-life hockey, the puck hitting the net and bouncing off the net...I wish they would incorporate that in the game. But, maybe that's being a little too picky...oh well, like I always say...'maybe they'll do that next year'.
best hockey game around
