Perhaps the best thing about the game is its immediate accessibility. Players of any skill level can immediately grasp (if not master) the swing meter, where one button press starts the backswing, another determines power, and a third determines accuracy. It's all about rhythm and timing, and pressing on the directional pad during the backswing lets expert players control topspin to finesse their shots, fight a strong wind, or guide the ball through some nearby trees.
As players advance through the tournament and other modes, they gain experience in addition to points for purchasing new equipment and other game enhancements. New clubs, balls, and other items significantly impact the way the game plays. New characters and courses open up as the game progresses, so there's always something new to unlock or master. If any complaint can be leveled at the game, it's that perhaps the designers didn't take the over-the-top theme far enough. Those looking for a strict simulation without the wacky characters and fancy special effects might want to look at Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2002. On the other hand, that game's special effects are too sparse to attract people looking for a pure arcade experience, and the character designs are uninspired. Regardless, the game lurking underneath Hot Shots Golf 3's fantasy façade should appeal to any golf fanatic, and the varied course designs combined with plentiful equipment choices guarantee a great deal of replayability. --T. Byrl Baker
Pros:
- Once loaded, shots, replays, and course repositioning are instantaneous
- Beautiful and varied courses with especially good water effects
- Plenty of equipment, characters, and other items to unlock
- Graphics are good, but probably don't tap the entire potential of PS2
- Could use more and better special effects to add drama to the proceedings

Very fun and easy for anyone to play
WoW!!! Absolutely Amazing!!!
Come on inetria, do your thing!HSG3 is a golf game that doesn't take itself serious. The taunts are really funny and will be stuck in your head for days. The courses feel very lifelike, full of colors and unlockable animals, great weather effects. Since I sold my memory card last year, I am playing through the tourney mode, unlocking all the clubs and other goodies once again.
If you are looking for a serious golf game with collared shirt stiffs, this is not your game. The Power Meter system in this games works just fine for me, but I hear the controls in Tiger are really good as well.
I'm not a golfer and don't have any serious plans of ever becoming one. I've been on a golf course less times than I have fingers on my left hand. Don't even know why I actually ever bought this game, in all truth. Good reviews I guess, something different from all the action titles and RPGS out there. Not too serious a game if you don't want it to be, but the depth is there if you're looking for it; about 12 unlockable players, tourneys, unlockable clubs and courses. Great fun. ;o)

Hockey combined with the action of NFL Blitz
Great Game...Pros:
Great music, includes tracks from Stained, Limp Bizkit, and Fuel.
Create-a-team options, also you can raise points up for the ultimate team.
High replay level. Even if you beat the game(isn't to hard), you can still play a friend, exibition, franchise, and a bunch of training games.
Cons:
Only 3 players on a team, out of a possible 6 to choose from.
The gameplay ins't realistic(if that's what your looking for)
And there are too few movements, there should be combo moves like triple dekes and such.
But this game is great, and ANYONE who's a fan of sports should get it.

All of the old tricks remain, but the game features hundreds of new additions. Of course, with all of these new tricks to master, there are also more detailed accidents: scraped knees, broken boards, and wall and (ouch!) pole collisions.

One of the best n64 games...THPS2 builds on the momentum gained in the first game by creating larger, more complicated boards, and adding on tons of features. While there were only 5 objectives for each board in THPS, #2 at least quadruples that number.
Tony Hawk 2 is more challenging than the first, has more characters, more options, and just more fun.
And they said there's such a thing as "too much of a good thing...
The sequel hits N64 shelves everywhere!PROS: ALL new locations, new skateboarders and all your old favorites, the VERY FUN skate park editor where you make your own park, great graphics, and easy-to-learn gameplay.
CONS: Every level contains 10 missions, some of which are practically impossible, not as much hang time as TH1, and I can almost guarantee you will get frustrated with some of the missions.
Overall, I would recommend this game to all the people who've been waiting for the sequel, but if you have a Playstation 2 then just wait for Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 to hit stores(yes, there is such a game, there are previews in GamePro magazine!)
The Best Extreme Sports Game... wait, theres an N64 version?

Wow this thing Rocks!!!Now lets talk about the BAD things about this ramp. First of all the grips slip and break VERY easily so you end up having to put screwdrivers or some medal pole to keep it from slipping. It gets scratches on it very easily too.
But the ramp is still very fun what product dosent have a few misshaps.
I urge you to buy this ramp its a very good ramp one of the best I've seen.

Excellent Football GameControls and Graphics:
If you have ever played Madden you will be right at home here. The controls are almost identical and are very simple to learn. The graphics are excellent. The ESPN look and feel really add a lot to the game. It really enhances the feeling that you are controlling a real game.
Gameplay:
The gameplay is very fun. Passing is a bit difficult at first, due to the cheating computer (who gives you all of 2 seconds to throw the ball before drilling your QB into the grass), but you'll learn quickly. The running game is insanely easy to rack up yards in (I routinely get 650 yards rushing a game, and no I am not amazing at football games). So how can I give this game 5 stars as a football game? It's fun. Even if it is a bit unbalanced and unrealistic at times, the game rocks . It has an incredible amount of unlockable stuff, and many differnt modes.
One huge problem: the commentary is extremely repetive, annoying, and bad. Also, the computer sometimes calls cheap penaltys on your team. Even with these quibbles, I had a very fun time playing ESPN Football. Whether you buy this or Madden is completely on prefernce: both games are excellent. Another fine year for football games.
What a gameThe crib is awesome. It's a great way to motivate you to go for the glory so to speak. When I first got the game, I thought that's nice - I'll never use it though. 4 games of air-hockey later and I am changing my tune.
First person playing, not my cup of tea - but a nice feature. Nothing againt it, I just have a hard time playing much anything other than driving games in first person. I have read several good reviews on this feature.
I like the ability to see the whole field, sideline to sideline. It helps so much with the passing game.
I use this mostly as a two player game, head to head with my son so most of the franchise options and season goodness hasn't been tested by me to the fullest, but from what I can see, this is where Madden will take over top position. But again, I enjoy having an easy game to sit down to, and play football. I guess I am not all that hard core.
ESPN, in my mind - your NFL game is the best out there. Madden is definitely next in line. The rest I found not to be worth the money.
ESPN vs. MaddenGameplay - The best I have ever seen. Although on the pro level it is too easy to break big runs, playing on the all-pro level, it feels a lot better. Playing with Ricky Williams, I continously pounded for that 3 yards and cloud of dust. I also loved the feeling when you tire out a defense and watch Ricky explode into the secondary for a 20+ yard run. However, there have been many games were I have just been straight up stuffed. My last game against the Pats got Ricky 23 carries for 67 yards. The passing game takes a little getting used too but it works. I have to admit that Madden's passing mechanics are a little better. The hook and curl routes were my forte in madden, but they don't seem to work as well in ESPN. As far as defense is concerned, the DBs come to play. Playing with the fins, I loved playing bump and run because Madison and Surtain just shut recievers down. Sacks and DL moves are more realistic and frequent. And I love watching the tackling animations and the linebacker pursuit is just a beautiful thing.
Commentary + Sound + Graphics - All top notch. Even the fans and thier painted faces.
Presentation - No one is better then ESPN. You can freakin watch NFL Primetime for Christ's sake. Primetime is my all time favorite show and to be able to watch it in May brought tears to my eyes. And I love the halftime show, Chris Berman rocks!!!!!!! The Crib is cool to.
Few negatives -
Franchise mode - Not as deep as Madden but it will suffice. I love being able to break alltime records in Madden as hard as it was. I also liked being able to see carrer stats. Although, ESPN does keep track of carrer stats of players, you are only lucky to see them in a game. Also the salary cap is really annoying. In Madden if I have 7 million left in the cap room, don't take 3 million away if I sign Antonio Bryant for a 5yr 3 million dollar contract.
I hope ESPN makes the leaps and bounds Madden made with the Franchise mode, because if they do, Madden is going to be in hot water. If ESPN develops the franchise mode where you can track individual players carrer stats and make it as deep as maddens, then ESPN will have created the ultimate football experiance. But I do have two wishes:
1. Harder Hits - I want to punish recievers with Rodney Harrison for running routes through the middle.
2. Mel Kipper - I want him to analyze some of the rookies. Put a face on some of these rookies so I don't feel like I am drafting a name.

Going beyond motion-capturing batting stances (there are 89 distinct ones in here by my count), they've done a great job of animating pretty much every aspect of the game in pitch delivery, fielding, and base-running. The instant replay system, which borrows from and improves upon the one seen in the High Heat series, allows you to move the camera anywhere on the field to see the realistic movements at any speed. You can also use the feature to see the game's sophisticated artificial intelligence--for example, there's a brief, realistic delay when a player tags up from third on an outfield fly.
There's also a solid pitching game that lets a starter like Tim Hudson get off without a shelling when pitching heat down the middle, but try it with a pitcher like Byung-Hyun Kim and you're bound to see different results. And the TV-style zone chart shows which locations each batter is best at connecting to and where your sequence of pitches has landed.
A number of the new features are so obvious that you may wonder why you've never seen them before. One is a controller map in the pause menu that quickly shows you exactly which buttons perform the task you want. An option is also included that sets the relative speed of pitches to the plate. This really comes in handy when coming from another baseball game like All-Star Baseball 2003 where pitches seem to blur to the plate.
To put it bluntly, the game has almost no downside. There are some very powerful GM and manager functions--including a fantasy draft and exhaustive franchise tools--though using them is somewhat counterintuitive. Stealing is kind of tough to pull off; in one game, Ichiro got caught twice out of three attempts. And, as stated above, there's no Internet play--but that gives us something to look forward to for next year. --Porter B. Hall
Pros:
- Realistic player movement
- Smart AI
- TV-style zone chart marks hot and cold areas for each batter
- Variable pitch-appearance speeds
Cons:
- No head-to-head play over the Internet

Outstanding for both casual and extreme baseball fansMy criticisms of the game are minor, but enough to keep it from earning five stars. The baseball AI is occasionally questionable. Baserunners will make some of the most idiotic mistakes sometimes, manufacturing double plays that never should have happened. Also, against the computer, stealing a base is nigh to impossible, even with speedsters like Ichiro, and walks are not nearly as big a part of this game as they are in real life. Finally, it can be hard on the eyes to read over your stats sometimes as the folks at SEGA have decided to put colored stats up against similarly colored backdrops, causing them to meld together on poorer quality TVs. Straight black numbers against a white background would have been much easier to read.
However, please don't view the above list as a serious set of detractions. The game as a whole is enormously fun and dangerously addictive with tremendous replay value. The franchise mode is truly something special and if you like baseball, you'll love this game.
Franchise
UnbelievableThe gameplay is a little frustrating but once you get the hang of it, the game is a blast. I'm a big fan of Franchise mode in sports and this franchise mode is unbelievable, even better than Madden's franchise mode. Unlike any other game, you have an unlimited number of season to work with. You also have to hire managers, batting coaches, etc. and that's part of your budget. The budget system varies (You can choose to have the current budgets of the real life teams or have the budget off alltogether). What's also great about the budget system, you can gain more budget points depending on your team's success and W/L. There is also a player draft after each season where you draft new players for future use (Very cool!).
The point system for players is better than ASB and doesn't use the annoying A/B/C system, instead using a numerical system that goes up to 100. The system is very realistic as well, because unlike madden and other sports franchise games, if you have a great year with an average player like Kip Wells, his ratings will boost the next year and he'll be one of the best players in the league.
There are so many other things that make this game so great and realistic (GMs of bad teams getting frustrated and willing to trade a proven high priced players for some younger and cheaper talent) so buy the game!!
Oh by the way, that's just franchise mode. There's other features in the game, but franchise is so good it could carry this game alone.

- Integration of scores, highlights, stats and overlays further blur the line between a Sunday Night Football telecast and the game
- ESPN veteran Chris Berman provides commentary and re-caps
- Responsive controls give you command over every aspect of the game
- Unbelievable gang tackles and dazzling sideline grabs--and online action over Xbox Live
- For 1 or 2 players

I Really Wanted to Like This Game, But I Still Prefer Madden
Wow. Sega Sports scores big!!This game is loaded and was very well thought out from the ground up. The running game is fantastic, and I love how you can charge your player up for a super move. It takes some pretty good timeing to get used to, however its fun and sometimes effective. Should we even mention the passing? It's awesome. I love having the ability to check out the defensive formation, see who is going to have one on one coverage and try and exploit the weakness its awesome. Oh, yeah and its also nice knowing that the computer on offense or defense is not going to auto adjust its-self to counter act what ever play you pick. And lastly there is the defense end of things. Gang tackling is a must and is very incouraged. However the ability to read what the offense is doing or what you think they are doing, just adds so much realism.
Next, I would like to mention the presentation. The graphics are almost perfect. The cheerleaders actually shake there money makers. And your fans go crazy, with face paint, signs, the whole 9 yards. Not to mention the half time summary is truly amazing. And then there are the instant replays WOW!!
Oh, my and then there is audio. The crowd ambience, music playing on the pa, the players constantly punking each other out. Some times calling the QB or HB by there first names.
This game is by far the best football game I have ever played. We have weekly touranments in the dorm, and it doesnt matter if you are playing or not, people still come and watch. This game is exciting, the graphics are outstanding, and the sound is out of this world.
Good game Sega sports. GG.

Tons of golf-at-home fun for your PS2!
Tiger Woods- BIG HITFor starters, Gary McCord (current PGA announcer and former player) has signed on to do the commentary. BIG step up from the voices from the previous versions that tended to get very repetitive. David Faheretty is back to do the play-by-play analysis. He does good work.
A ton of new courses have been added, both real and created. Pinehurst #2 is probably the most notable, along w/ the famous public course Bethpage Black.
Along with the new new courses, new players have been added. John Daly makes his appearance, as well as Retief Goosen and others.
Career mode is a new feature, allowing a player to play through a 10 year career. It's a nice feature, better than the previous tournament mode. There are no more 18 hole tournaments for a couple grand to the winner.
The match play mode has been improved, sending you all over the world map playing in various "regions." Defeating a player at each level of each region is the goal.
Overall, INCREDIBLE new game, a must buy without a doubt for any Tiger Woods series fan AS WELL AS anyone that thinks they might enjoy a "golf" game. Best game of the series by far. Get it!

THPS 2X
Tony Hawk 2 levels + Tony Hawk 1 levels + 5 new ones!
I'm so addicted to this game I need to go to Rehab!Highly Recommended! Great deal for the XBOX!
However, it is not an easy game once you get going. The initial courses are fun and mildly challenging, but as the game goes along, the courses become (thankfully) harder. As goes usual golf gaming fair, there are a countless number of secrets and items to unlock. You can unlock secret clubs, characters, wallpapers and more by earning "Hot Shot" points while you play.
The only things that I didn't like about this game were the unorignal characters and the annoying sound effects. The characters are very stereotyped, as usual, and I would have preferred Sony to use the original Japanese characters.
Other than those two bad points, Hot Shots Golf 3 is a very fun golf game with a lot of longevity. There are plenty of secrets to unlock, six huge 18 hole courses to play on, and even internet scoring competition. While it's not wholly original (considering it's another sequel), it's a great accessible game, whether you're playing alone or with some friends.
