Pretty fun, tons of horses and races to choose from
I really love horse racing, so I found this game to be pretty fun. There are an enormous amount of horses to choose from to race with lots of statistics about each one. The game itself is a little bit tricky to figure out how to work, but only for a couple of races. I have found it to be a challenge though - not too easy!

    Your Own Racing Stables!
It's simply the best. My Dad and I have seen the sun come up a many mornings playing Gallop Racer. All of my other games are just collecting dust since we've been running horses. I'm 12 years old, my dad's been taking me to the race track since I was a baby. We race a couple horses every year. The only diffences between the game and real racing is you don't win real money and you don't have to go out to feed and train. I would rate this game 100 stars. The horses look real they run like real horses, the jocks look and ride like the Hall of Famers. You start a career create your very own jockey (male or female) in your silks, buy a horse or two and start winning races. You can run in regular stakes or graded stakes, where the big boys run. It's just so real the better he is on the track, the better he is in the breeding barn. Breed that tripple crown winner and get your horse and jockey into the Hall of Fame and other great awards. If your husband enjoy horse racing or you want him and your son to spend some quality time together get them this game. Gotta go now, got one about to run in the Louisiana Derby.

    THE BEST HORSE GAME EVER!
I got this game for my birthday! It is awesome! At the beginning, you buy some horses and race them. When they are finished racing, you can breed them and get a foal!
The whole point in the game is strategy. For around the first month, I never won a race. But I never gave up and still played the game. Now I am a pro!!!!
For anyone who loves horses just like me, will enjoy this game.

      Great swing!
My son received this swing for his first birthday and he loves it! I love it because it is easy to get him in and out of it. He also sits up straighter than other swings we have had and he likes that. Good buy!

      My son's too big
He received this as a gift for his 1st birthday. He is a big boy, at the time, he was 30 lbs and 36 inches and was almost too big for it when he received it. Six months later, we can get him in ok, but he gets stuck getting him out. He loves to swing, but it takes 2 people to maneuver this thing (one to hold him and the other to disengage his legs and pull the swing). Our only other option would be to sit his bottom in it and leave his legs dangling over the top. I'm not very comfortable with him swinging that way because I worry he could fall out. I'm currently shopping for a larger swing with a back that will last until he can balance himself on a big kids swing.

      Great Swing!
We bought this swing for a 20-month old toddler. We connected it to a Little Tikes swing set. It is the perfect height from the ground so that in the months ahead, her feet won't drag. The leg holes are wide enough for shoes to get in and out easily.
She loves it! I bought an extra one to send to her daycare provider. A must have for toddlers!

      Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3
      Made by Activision
Age Group: 6 years and up

Like Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2, Tony Hawk 3 captures the look and feel of the big-console versions but transforms the concept into a third-person, mock 3-D game. This new incarnation keeps the original control scheme but brings in alternate career goals, new tricks (including the revert), and changing environments--they even include pedestrians--across seven global locations. Unlike the last game, however, this version allows players to link up for such multiplayer games as Trick Attack, Graffiti, HORSE, and Tag (one copy of the game per GBA unit and link cable is required). The roster of skaters features Tony Hawk, Elissa Steamer, Jamie Thomas, Rodney Mullen, Eric Koston, Chad Muska, Kareem Campbell, Steve Caballero, Andrew Reynolds, Rune Glifberg, Geoff Rowley, Bam Margera, and Bucky Lasek.

THPS3 for GBA is looking good
        AGE: 12+
First of all, I am highly anticipating the release of this product. The graphics are still amazing, and if Activision stays with the formula that made THPS2 for the GBA, then this sequel will be great. When I bought THPS2, I was simply amazed with the texture, the smoothness, and the amount of stuff cramed into such a little gamepack! The tricks were easy to learn, hard to master, and the game had tons of replay value. There was only one flaw (in my perspective): ACTIVISION LEFT OUT A MULTIPLAYER MODE!!! However, with THPS3, you get many multiplayer games, like King of the Hill, Graffiti, Trick Attack, and Tag to name a few. The problem is, everyone playing needs a copy of the THPS3 in order to play. What are the chances of playing a four player trick attack match when you need 3 link cables, 4 copies of the game and 4 GBA's!? However, the thoughtful people at activision has included Horse, in which you can take turns with ONE gba and ONE gamepack. So, you don't even need two gba's to play multiplayer, which is a good thing. All in all, I can't wait for this game to come out, and when it does, I'll be sure to get it. With 6 new levels, new tricks, and a new skater (that doesn't even include the unlockable secretes there is sure to be), this is looking to be the best sports game on the GBA yet.

        Go Tony Hawk!
Okay, I'm going to try to explain this as calmly as possible. BUY THIS GAME!!!!!!!!! The levels are fun, the goals are challenging, but not impossible,(just the way I like em'!)the controls are easy to get used to,and the replay value is insane! I have at least 20 GBA games, but this is the topper! The only problem I have is the graphics. They're Not exactly great.

Gameplay: 5/5. There are 6 main levels of gameplay. Four are just goals, two are contests. There is one goal that confused me, in the suburbia level. WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD! It Was the find the secretTape. To do this, I thought that you had to get on top of the thin man's house. But you have to grind the house northeast of it. To do this, go into the northwest pool. Jump out of the North side, then grind the long red rail eastward. Jump constantly, or you'll lose your balance. Keep doing that. After a few seconds, you'll be grinding ona shed. Jump off it, grind the fence, and you'll have the secret tape! This next one had a much simpler Solution. Get a score of 300,000 in the LA level. To do this, simply grind the four trees near the beginning. You'll have the score in no time! Well, anyway, the gameplay is by far the best in any GBA game!

Replay Value: 5/5 I've had this for almost a year, and I still play it nonstop! I'm not the least bit tired of it!

Controls: 5/5 When I first got this game, the controls were VERY difficult to get used to. It'll take some practice. But once you have it down pat, You'll agree that they are very comfortable.

Graphics: 2/5 Not much to say. They're horrible. I'll just leave it at that.

Like I said before, BUY THIS GAME! Despite the horrendus(I hope I spelled that right)graphics, you'll be in for endless hours of fun!

          Nascar Thunder 2002
I think EA Sports nailed stock car racing with this Xbox effort. The only essential element NASCAR Thunder is missing is maybe a fight or two in the pits after a race. That seems to be a pretty exciting part of the sport since they show them on TV all the time. Either that or they should go all the way back to the sport's roots and have players smuggling moonshine across county lines. But that's all wishful thinking. For now NASCAR Thunder 2002 is as good a stock car sim as you're going to see, but the overall appeal of this game is truly a matter of taste.
If you play videogames to escape the real world, then Thunder is only going to get you so far if you're not a diehard NASCAR fanatic. Sure you can go 200 mph in some marvelous machines, but 90% of the time you'll only be going in a circle on tracks that demand more raw speed than driving skill. Put another way, there's a reason other racing games like Gran Turismo 2 always use ovals for test driving and it ain't for their level of difficulty. Thunder 2002 is an excellent stock car racing sim that cannot and should not moonlight as a mass appeal racing game.

          EA Finally Got It Right
Since EA obtained the rights to develop a licensed NASCAR game, they have produced mediocre- and thus tremendously disappointing-efforts. Well, EA has finally got it right. Each race now has 43 cars (a full field for once) and the physics have been greatly improved. A marvelous touch is the Career Mode. You can create your own car, driver, and team. You start basically from scratch and earn sponsorship money for finishing well to afford needed upgrades to your engine, brakes, pit crew, tires, etc. This "GT 3" aspect is truly a much appreciated add-on to what already would have been a great NASCAR sim game. Anyone who enjoys racing games or NASCAR will certainly enjoy this. I am just waiting for the right steering wheel controller to come out to totally complete an already excellent gaming experience.

Footnote (added 11/7/02): While all of the above is true, I have changed my rating to 4 stars. I didn't think that would do better, but EA has with 2003. Please see my review for that if you want more info.

          AWSOME!!!
i wasn't to much into NASCAR, but i couldn't help it. i bought NASCAR THunder 2002 for my dad, and it's awsome!!! you can choose from over 40+ drivers and it has all the best drivers.
all real drivers and all their cars, and some cars have multiple designs.
you can create your own car with your own sponsors and also, when you go through career mode, you have a chance to become sponsored by a company like Kleenex. real awsome.

also, drivers views are good. you have about 5 views to choose from, including views like hood view and a view where you are the actual driver. real nice.

there are at least a dozen or so race tracks to choose from, and during the season you play at all the major tracks, including the Daytona 500. good game, lots of fun, and up to 4 people can play at one time. real awsome!!!

            Sega Bass Fishing
Made by Sega of America, Inc.
Age Group: 8 years and up
              Amazon base price: $4.98
              List price: $19.99 (that's 75% off!)

For those willing to take the bait, Sega Bass Fishing has an addictive gameplay hook that will reel in sporting enthusiasts and even a few hardcore gamers. This realistic 3-D bass fishing simulation shines with three distinct gaming modes, eight fishing environments, and 13 different lures.

Let's be honest here. Fishing simulation games aren't for everyone. Many hardcore gamers will likely bypass this title because they believe the genre lacks the instant gratification of fast-moving shooters. That's a shame. Though it might not be everyone's can of worms, Sega Bass Fishing does offer a subtle, highly addictive gaming experience that will challenge even the most seasoned of game veterans.

This isn't Quake, to be sure. But you'll need similar gaming smarts and strategies to succeed in this water-based sporting environment. It takes a skilled aim and a steady hand to hook and reel in the largest fish, which are surrounded by smaller, less desirable catches. There's nothing worse than casting your lure directly at a monster-sized bass only to have it intercepted by a meddlesome minnow. We encountered more than our share of near misses, which gives us virtual bragging rights to "the one that got away."

While some gamers will prefer the subtlety of free-form fishing sans time constraints, this game also features a fast-action arcade mode that requires the player to meet a minimum quota of catches before advancing to a new fishing environment. An optional Dreamcast fishing controller (sold separately) makes the task of catching these underwater critters all the easier. The controller, which also adds a realistic rumble when you catch a fish, is a highly recommended accessory for the ultimate home fishing experience. --Brett Atwood

              Pros:

              • Near-perfect translation from the hit arcade game
              • Eight realistic 3-D fishing environments
              • Three different game modes to choose from
              • Great control with optional fishing controller (sold separately)

              Cons:

              • Game genre will not appeal to everyone

              boring game
this game is very boring! is not even little bit of fun!the graphics are good. the game is a person on a boat and fishing! how boring is that! if you like fishing rent it first because the game could be boring to you too.

              Very Realistic! Must Buy!
Get Bass is the most realistic fishing game I've ever seen and played. With great graphics, sound, and play, this is the best of the best when it comes to a fishing game. The Bass in the game are very detailed; also the way they move and fight is very realistic. As you move your fishing lur through the water, you'll find all different types of fish, and even crawdads; all of which look very real. When your lur is dragging on the bottom of the lake, you can see the dirt kicking up, and it looks very cool. It dosen't matter weather you use your controller or Sega fishing reel, there both fun to use. There is only one flaw, the game is timed; you only get a certain amount of time, and its not that much. But if your into fishing games, this game is for you. Must buy! Oh, BTW (By The Way), I only have the demo version!

              A Fishing Video Game?!?!?
Wow would ever think that a fishing video game could be fun? Well Sega sure porved that it can with Sega Bass Fishing. This is the most realistic fishing sumilator to date and is extremely fun. You can play as either a man or a woman fisherman in a few different moddes including tounament which is extremely fun where you have 4 minutes in the morning, afternoon and night in 3 different spots to try and catch the most total weight of bass. You can choose from a large variety of lures and after you catch a certain amount of fish you can unlock new special lures. The realism when catching a bass is there. The smaller one's will put up a small struggle, but can be easily brought up to your boat, but the larger they get the harder they are to bring in and the more likely they are to snap your line. You can also use a fishing controller on your Dreamcast that makes this game so much more realistic. I highly recommend this game to fans of fishing. Hey, it's only 10 bucks.

              Splash Down
              Made by Atari
Age Group: 6 years and up

Rainbow Studios created quality dirt racers with its Motocross Madness and ATV Offroad Fury games. Now it seeks similar success in the water with Splashdown. Featuring four licensed Sea-Doo watercrafts, nine playable characters, and 18 environments, the game packs plenty of features. Add in exquisite graphics, precise physics, tight controls, and challenging gameplay, and you've got one of the best jet-ski games on the market.

The game's water effects are simply astounding. This is among the most realistic water ever seen in a video game. Furthermore, it behaves in such a lifelike manner that you'll marvel at how accurately it reacts to movement. The detailed and lush environments are located in a variety of regions and cities, including Nice, Seoul, Tokyo, Venice, Loch Ness, Mission Bay, the Nile River, and the Bering Strait. While the controls are very responsive, it does take some time to get used to the game's challenges and master its more than 30 tricks. Musically, the game is a bit derivative, attempting to emulate the soundtracks found in other extreme-sports games. And while the game offers some variety in the its training, career, arcade, and versus modes, it's disappointing that the multiplayer option only supports two players.

Splashdown is not a perfect game, but it is an excellent title that offers plenty of replay value if you have the patience to get past its initial learning curve. Compared to the competition--specifically Wave Rally and the GameCube-exclusive Wave Race: Blue Storm--this game offers a superior experience with better graphics and deeper gameplay. --Raymond M. Padilla

                Pros:

                • Beautiful water
                • Excellent control and physics
                • Plenty of levels
                Cons:
                • Somewhat steep learning curve
                • Multiplayer only supports two players
                • Limited selection of vehicles

                Splashdown Anytime!
I was very pleased with this game; it's graphics are exceptional (especially the ocean and waves)and the soundtrack is great. It's awesome to hear bands like Blink 182 and Smash Mouth, and all of the songs seem to fit the game.

                The only problems I found with this game are: 1. Sometimes the songs are cut off before they end; also, apparently there is some sort of sound effects problem (read some other reviews) I really didn't notice it and I had the game on surround sound and;

                2. You have to go around the flagged bouys (depending on the way its pointing) even on free ride mode. I'm one of those people who just likes to practice games like this and not have to follow directives on modes like free ride. If you don't go on the proper side or skip the bouy all together your jet ski stalls.

All in all its an excellent game with plenty of replay gameplay. Nearly 20 different tracks and more than 3 that aren't locked. Certainly an excellent choice for those who like water games.

best of the racing games this year
There are 3 major Jet Ski releases to come out in 2001. The first, Wave Race Blue Storm, was good, but didnt live up to expectations. I was disappointed with the awful play control and lack of very creative courses. THen there was wave rally for PS2, which is a mediocre game all together. Then there is splashdown- the one that blows the others out of the water! (no pun intended) This has got it all- silky smooth play controls, great graphics and framerate, plenty of tracks and riders to keep you occupied, multi player, and so much more. The tracks are innovative and creative. The multiplayer is even better. It also takes up hardly any memory card space. If you like these arcade-like racers, this should definately be your number one pick. The only complaint i have is that if you are doing a circuit- you have to race by yourself first on the course, to figure out where you will be placed for the next race, in which you race against challenging, but not extremely hard computer racers. This makes the circuit take a long time. But there is a time trial mode which is more worth your time. Get this game for the PS2. Its the best wave-racer to come out since Wave Race 64.

                Great!
It was really fun. A few different ways to play and different things to win and places to race. You can even master tricks. I love the music that it plays too.

Chris Edwards: Aggressive Inline offers intense action via the new action button for all your skitching, pole grabbing, vaulting, and other tricks. There are nine huge levels offering tons of rails, ramps, pipes, and surprises. The game also includes 30 to 60 objectives and 10 to 15 cinematic events per level. Environments are dynamic and deeply interactive. For example, if you skate off the Atlas statue, the massive globe rolls into the street and smashes two buses that then form a half-pipe. There is an integrated Park Editor within main game levels that allows players to build terrain in order to accomplish objectives. Over-the-top tricks include hand grinds, six types of manuals, grind transitions, double leg grinds, assorted air tricks, wall taps, stalls, wall flips, and hand plants. Aggressive Inline also features insane, lightning-quick, split-screen multiplayer games.

Like actual "super extreme" inline skating - this game sucks. Let's see, they're stuck on my feet, it's not hard, and they're stuck on my feet!

                  Almost
I've been an aggressive inline skater for years, and I really wanted to like this game. But, for me, it just didn't measure up. It has potential, but I just didn't find it to be as fun as Tony Hawk 3. I was going to purchase this game, but decided to rent it first. I'm glad I did. The first level wasn't even available in career mode until after the completion of the tutorial.

This game is more challenging than Tony Hawk 3, which is good, and the levels are huge, but the fun factor just wasn't as high. After spending about an hour or so playing in career mode, I found myself wanting to pop Tony Hawk back into my PS2, which I did, and played that for several hours instead.

I can't say Aggressive Inline is a bad game, I just can't say that I found anything that made me want to play it anymore. Tony Hawk is a high energy game, and I really think that's what was missing for me from Aggressive Inline. It just didn't seem to have that same level of high energy adrenaline gaming.

best extreme sports game ever, IMO
The gameplay is reminsent of Tony Hawk 3 with some Jet Grind Radio mixed in to add flavor to an already spectacular mix. It controls a lot like tony hawk with some extra tricks such as swinging around poles and wall riding. The wall riding here is more like the wall riding from Jet Grind Radio where you can actually wall ride up to higher ground. The wall riding in AGS is a little more technical to pull off so when you pull off a great combo you really fell like you earned it. You also get your challenges by finding people to talk to, some can be challeges to score within a time limit and others can be photo opertunities. The photo ops freeze frame at the point that you perform the requested trick, but if you don't land the trick you don't score and the photographer rags on you for crashing or bailing. Another thing is bailing you can actually land on your feet if you not set to land coming down on the ramp.

Overall, Z-Axis has done it again. With great games like Dave Mirra you can't go wrong; gameplay, action, the works. They also know a thing about making levels. Each one is HUGE, and rivals that of Tony Hawk's. I bought this game yesterday, and I'm being overwhelmed by the immense amount of challenges and tricks to perform. Just two words to help you in your next game-buying quest.---BUY IT!

3DO's High Heat Baseball titles have been the most realistic simulations of the great American pastime for the past two years. This year's version of the game, Sammy Sosa High Heat Baseball 2001, would build upon the series' reputation even without the help of its big-name endorsement.

Sammy Sosa High Heat Baseball 2001 has everything a hard-core baseball fan could hope for: accurate and comprehensive statistics, realistic plays, dramatic pitcher/batter matchups, and even a full minor league system to manage and call upon during the season. On the field, this year's High Heat looks better than previous incarnations, with more detailed players and a wider array of player animations (such as outfielders running into walls and diving players holding up their gloves to show that they caught the ball).

But the real appeal of the game lies in its accurate portrayal of the sport. Each game played in High Heat 2001 unfolds like a real baseball game, where bunts are just as important as home runs and starting pitchers don't always survive past the fourth inning. To win, players must think like a big-league manager and take care to bring in the correct players for certain situations. And as you earn that come-from-behind victory with a clutch RBI single in the bottom of the 12th, you can count on the game tracking and storing a wealth of stats for you to peruse after the game. In fact, you can check over a complete (and incredibly thorough) score sheet after each game and watch video highlights to see the big plays that affected the outcome.

Aside from a few graphics errors (such as huge green, untextured areas outside of some stadiums) and an intermittent bug that pops up when performing a double switch, High Heat 2001 is about the best baseball game ever produced. If you're into baseball for more than just home runs and strikeouts, this is the game for you. --Michael E. Ryan

                    Pros:

                    • Most realistic arcade baseball game on the market
                    • Accurately captures the strategic feel of a real baseball game
                    • Excellent statistics model
                    • Good, speedy pace to the game
                    Cons:
                    • Graphics are still not world-class
                    • Play-by-play is lifeless and boring
                    • Occasional graphics errors and program bugs pop up

What Matters Is That It Plays Better Than The Others.
                    April 12, 2002

I've tried "Triple Play" and "Hardball", and rate
"High Heat" higher than both. This copy has served
me for two years. It's plusses are many.

It has the first and foremost necessity to be a good
baseball game: intuitive pitching and hitting. Being
able to catch the corners and trick a batter is what
makes a baseball game playable and replayable.

There is good detailing about the players, and attention was
paid to the various styles of swinging the bat.

Character creation is easy. Teams, players and seasons
are all programmable. However, moving players around is
                    a chore, and time-consuming.

                    The minuses?

Well, although the High Heat people promised roster
updates, my 2001 version was left high and dry.

                    Yeah, graphics occasionally go wonky.

Some of the interfaces are maddening, as, in my version at
least, they display only eight of the nine players in the
starting lineup, or four of the five pitchers in the
starting rotation. It can be infuriating when you try
to switch people around. Hopefully that's been improved
                    in newer versions.

Can I please give it 10 stars instead of 5?
I was one of the biggest advocates of EA's Triple Play series. After the letdown of Triple Play 2000 and 2001, (They haven't made a good one since 1998) I began to be turned off by PC Baseball games. Until, I found HH 2000.

And this game, HH 2001, is even better than its predesessor. The graphics are gorgeous. The AI is the most intelligent I have ever seen in a baseball game. The physics are pinpoint accurate. Outfielders can't throw laser beams from the wall to the catcher in 2 seconds. The pitcher/batter interface is the BEST of any game. And, perhaps the greatest gameplay feature that it has over all other games:

YOU CAN ACTUALLY DRAW WALKS WHILE BATTING. --This may not sound like much, but believe me, it makes the game so much more realistic.

The player editor is a great feature, letting you tweak players abilities (for instance, if you leave it the way it is, Mike Sweeney would be a career .270 hitter...we all know he's better than that!) :-) You can guide your franchise through an infinite amount of seasons. I have one of my teams in the year 2087 right now.

There are so many features that this game offers but I can't talk about all of them in this limited space. But, if you love baseball, you'll absolutely fall in love with this game. Buy it now if you haven't already.

An addictive, thrilling game for this baseball fan
I don't usually play sports games, but I am a baseball fan and I played the previous two games in this series. All I have to say is that I have played hundreds of games in career mode, guiding the Tribe through several seasons, and I've never gotten bored with it. The pitcher-batter interface is the key to the game; there is a steep learning curve to successful hitting, I found, but after many games I have topped out at being a pretty good hitter (my team usually leads the league in offense). However, I am still susceptible to being shut down by good pitchers, and even though the computer's pitching is sometimes predictable, a well-timed changeup is still a devastating out pitch. Another aspect that keeps me playing is the career mode, where I can manage three levels of minor-league teams, draft rookies every year, and invest a lot of emotional capital in new players I have developed myself. There are lots of good details included in the game as well, such as a batting-practice interface for working on your hitting, a mid-season all-star game, trading with other teams, customizable leagues and seasons, and a head-to-head-with-another-present-human mode which is quite fun (and easy to set up if you both have Sidewinder Gamepads, my preferred peripheral for this game).

There are a few downsides ... the minor leagues are initially stocked with made-up players, and not real minor-leaguers. The graphics are good but not great (I'm not complaining -- they're perfectly fine for me -- I'm just noting that other baseball games have slicker visuals). Base-stealing and defense are reasonably well-executed, although I still make terrible errors on both counts sometimes (partly from brain spasms on my part but not totally -- I think the interface for these aspects could still be improved).

Overall, however, this is by far the best implementation of a baseball simulation I've ever played.

                    Easy Score Basketball Set
                    Made by Little Tikes

                      Amazon base price: $22.99

Hey, even Michael Jordan was a toddler once. And just think of how many more millions he might have made if he had practiced on a hoop-and-ball set like this one when he was a height-challenged hoopster. With the Easy Score Basketball set those impromptu dunking clinics will be challenging, but no longer impossible. Future MJs can now practice their skills with ease, because the Easy Score adjusts to height, has a size-appropriate hoop, and is made of durable plastic. The over-size rim (1 foot across, with a nylon hoop) can be set anywhere, as it only rises from 2.5 to 4 feet high, putting lay-ups and treys just within reach. A sturdy 15-by-19-inch base keeps the basket from tipping; this is important for young hoopsters who get a little too exuberant. The set comes with a tot-sized (6-inch-wide) rubber b-ball. --Paul Hughes

                      Great toy.
We bought this for our 22 mo old son for christmas. He loves to play ball...any kind. An even younger child, like 18 month would be a good intro for this toy also. He really likes this. I think it will endure his roughness. It was easy to put together. Santa appreciated that. Enjoy.

We Keep this in the Family Room!
I highly recommend this toy! I purchased this when my son was about 15 months old, and it still looks brand new even though we use it just about every day. We keep it in the house in the family room, and on rainy days when we can't get outside, it makes a wonderful physical activity. Every child who comes in this house can't resist playing with it! My nieces have enjoyed this as much as my two boys. My husband certainly has enjoyed it too. . .

Darn good toy, my 20m old girl LOVES it!
This basketball set is great. As long as you attach the rim according to instructions and fill the base w/sand (use a wide mouth funnel), it will not come apart or tip over easily. My 20m old girl uses it almost every day, many times twice a day. Her 8 yr., 5 yr. and 2 yr. old cousins also love it. People who have had problems with the rim coming off did not attach it properly and those that tip over did not put sand in the base. It would be a good idea to buy a couple of extra same size balls and a small hand pump for them, especially if more than one child uses it at a time.
