Grab your board and take on the slopes of SSX as you've never seen them before. Two brand-new runs, six never-before-seen riders, and tons of original tricks, shortcuts, and jumps make SSX Tricky the ultimate snowboarding experience. With voices supplied by celebrities such as Oliver Platt and Macy Gray, the SSX Tricky riders come to life on the snow-covered icy mountain courses.

Establish friendships, create rivalries, and show off your high-flying skills in three different types of races. And when you're ready to catch real air, reach into your bag and bust out one of the crazy new über-tricks that take airborne flight to the next level, with flips, twirls, and more. New Garibaldi and Alaska courses let you get more vertical and catch more air, while all the original courses have some new surprises. Six new riders join most of the original SSX crew to provide a wide range of abilities and competition.

    Average review score:

    Even Better than SSX
SSX Tricky is more of an upgrade than a sequal to SSX, but it is still an exceptional game. Two brand new cources, Garibaldi and Alaska are added and both are really fun courses. The old levels are all changed, and some like Snowdream and Pipedream are really different. (Even better, in my opinion) There are 5 new characters, along with all of the old ones from SSX except for 2. There are lots of different grabs you can do, and then you can tweak them all out. The addition of UBER tricks makes the game even more interesting and fun. Each rider has his or her signature move, along with a few other UBER tricks that a couple other riders might be able to do. The only con is the fact that there are only 3 grab buttons on the Xbox version, as opposed to the 4 on the PS2 version, so you can't do as many tricks. But don't let that stop you, this is a really great game that is 1000 times better than Amped or Dark Summit combined. Buy SSX Tricky and see for yourself.

    INCREDIBLE, very original
Original and innovative, this game really breaks the mold. It had me hooked playing it for hours on end. However, it does take about 15-30 minutes to get acquainted with the playing style and how to pull off the big tricks if you have never played such a game before. But that's it, you never have to relearn anything, and it's pure fun after that. This game had me more hooked than Max Payne and almost as much as Commandos 2:Men of Courage. The insane tricks are exciting to watch, and easy to pull off-requiring button combos, but not such hard ones as to make you sick of trying to nail the same one again and again. Most tricks only took me 3 tries at most. Another fun addition is the details of the world circuit mode. In world circuit, you make friends and enemys, depending on how much you knock them down in the level. This is a lot of fun because one, knocking someone down lets you immediately do one of your six big tricks or "uber tricks", and two, players will confront you after the race and talk trash. The player interaction like the trash talking before and after races adds even more fun and humor to the game. I seriously recommend buying this game, and at least renting it

    Perfect, can't be beat!!!!!!!!!
When I went on the disney channel cruise ship and played this game in the game center I stunk but loved it. I loved it so much that I bought it when I got an Xbox. The graphics are some of the best for a snowboarding game I have ever seen. You cannot beat this game in graphics or TIGHTNESS!!!!!!!

      Best Arcade-Style Hockey Game
If you're looking for a game with bone-crushing hits, realistic gameplay, amazing graphics, and lots of cool features, then NHL Hitz 20-02 is for you. There are three different modes in this game, all of which are great fun. In Exhibition mode, you pick two different teams, the jerseys they wear, and then you play a three period game (each period being three minutes) with no penalties, no offsides, an no icing. In franchise mode, you take your favorite NHL team through thirty games, trying t beat all thirty NHL teams in a quest for the Stanley Cup, and you must beat the team yu are currently playing in order to advance. Otherwise, you will be playing them ovrand over again until you beat them. In Franchise mode, you create a team and all the players on the team and play fifty games against NHL teams, the prize being the Midway Cup. As you play through NHL Hitz 20-02, you will earn new things with each win. In Exhibition and Championship modes, you will earn Credits to use to buy things like All-Star teams, fantasy arenas, and jerseys, the aount varying on wether you answer the trivia question after the game correctly, and what skill level you are playing on. In Franchise, you earn 6 Attribute points with each win and 2-3 with each correctly answered trivia question, which you can use to strengthen the players on your created team. Thisis and arcade-style hockey game with no penalties, icing, or offsides. So if you want a hockey simulation game, look elsewhere, but if you want hard hitting, fast-paced hockey, buythis game right now. It is worth every penny.

THE BEST VIDEO GAME I HAVE EVER PLAYED!!!
This great hockey game includes everything you would ever want in a video game. It is full of booming checks and giant hits that can knock someone through the glass and into the stands. The graphics are very realistic. The game includes a 3-d crowd that boos, cheers, and may even walk out if the game is not going their way. Once you get in a fight, the player that loses gets taken out for the rest of the game, so you can knock out your opponents best players. One other great aspect of this game is when a player scores 3 goals, or for hockey fans, a hatrick, the player gets on fire which makes his hits stronger. If you play Franchise games, you earn attribute points which can be used to boost up your custom team that you will have tons of fun creating. You can trade your players on your custom team for your favorite players in the NHL so you can create your own dream team. But since you can not change anything about the real players you have obtained, I prefer to create my own players that are 300lb. and 7ft. tall. If you play enough franchise games and get a lot of attribute points, you can make your custom players better that the best NHL players. When you play exhibition games or championship games, you earn credits that you spend in the hockey shop to by cool stadiums, awesome teams, jerseys, and other cool stuff. When you are waching the replays of goals, the audience will hold up codes that will let you do cool stuff like unlimited turbo and snow in the stadium. You can learn more about the codes in the instruction manual. The comentater is hilarious. The controls are easy to use. So hockey fan or not, I garantee you will love this game.

      greatest sports game
I'm not a huge fan of sport games. Too confusing. But this game was easy and fun. I don't own it, but my friends all do. I play it all the time when im at their house. You can check people (thats knocking them over) unlock new teams and faces to make your own team. One team you can unlock is a team full of clowns. Its really weird, but its cool! Its out for every console, but if you have a Gamecube or a Xbox, i would buy it for that. The game is 4 player so buying it for the PS2 would only let you play 2 player (unless you bought a attachment). I've never played hockey so i don't know all the rules and stuff, but there are no fouls or anything. You can get in fights. The loser has to go out of the game for the entire game while the winner is happy. Creating your own team is the best. When you buy more heads, you can make your team full of sharks or babys. Besides all the special features, there are all the teams in the normal league, and a campaign thing where you play teams from the real leauge. You play the teams with your own team.

All together, this game rocks! I was able to type all this and i don't even have the game. Just imagine what you could do WITH it.

      Laser Challenge Radar Extreme
      Made by Toymax
        Amazon base price: $29.95
        List price: $34.99 (that's 14% off!)
A discerning laser tagger packs a sidearm built by top-selling Laser Challenge--the best of the best opts for LC's Radar Extreme, a tricked-out IR blaster that boasts a 350-foot range. The Radar Extreme set outfits two elite gun-fighters with laser pistols and sensor vests, complete with convincing digital sound effects. Improving on the Team Force 2000 set, Laser Challenge's Next Generation pulls out all the stops. The gun sports a Max Blast option (one shot counts for three), a silent mode and auto or semi-auto fire. The vest can be strapped on or clipped to your belt, and its electroluminescent display is visible at 350 feet (although you may wish LC had left out this feature when your deadeye buddy guns you down). --Paul Hughes

        Thoughts of a LaserTag-Player
I love playing laser-tag myself. I go to lazer-zone where they pump mist into the room, I've played Lazer Storm, but when my Navy uncle bought this for me for my birthday, I was more than pleased. The reason I rated the fun factor at a 4 is probably because the places where you pay $20 to play for an hour are obviously more fun than this, and you may think that this Laser Challenge set lacked on more than a few things, but it's black-forest sophistication from here on in. When I first looked at it, I saw that it came in an eye-catching box that was true to the Laser Challenge roots, and when I finally opened the box and held the gun, I could tell that it lived up to the Laser Challenge name. I was impressed by accuracy, but, of course, no infrared beam is completely accurate. A way to make it more accurate is to polish the lens, since when light refracts off of a double-convex lens it gets distorted, and polishing it and keeping it clean will keep the light from being distorted. When I brought my guns home, I seemed to have no problems with registering hits, though there was a lag in the sound-to-trigger action. I completely covered the gun in camouflague duct-tape so both of my guns are camo, as well as the vests. If your going to do this, make sure not to cover the clear plastic sheild on the vest, or the little LED light on the top of the receiver, or the lens on the gun. I've also found that it does not work well with the Laser Challenge training bot that I got at KB Toys. The only thing that the training bot responds to, is the reset button, but the trigger and blast sheild it ignores, since it shoots back at you. I recently went back out and bought 2 more Laser Challenge Radar Extreme sets, and they have had no problems, and they are covered in camo duct-tape as well. The batteries last long without having to be replaced, and the guns are well-made out of hard plastic. Me and friends play 3 on 3 Laser Challenge matches in my basement, since I bought a bunch of those paintball obstacles and barricades that you bllow up with air. On an average day, we'll go through a 12-pack of coke, and about 2 good albums, while playing Laser Challenge and skateboarding. Thank you for listening, and if you didn't, you should've. Goodbye.

        VERY FUN AND DURABLE!
This is currently the best laser challenge gun available. It has really cool features like Max Blast and Shield. These guns are best used when you have larger teams, as with all guns. So I would recommend these as well as a couple cheaper sets to use with friends. I'm sure you will have fun if you buy this. THESE ARE THE BEST!

        Street Hoops
        Made by Activision
Age Group: 13 years and up
          Amazon base price: $19.99
          List price: $49.99 (that's 60% off!)
          Used price: $5.99
Buy one from zShops for: $11.92
Street Hoops is like the kid who shows up on the first day of school decked out in brand-new, brand-name duds, trying really hard to be cool and laid-back, while his rival (in this case, NBA Street) effortlessly oozes hip, relaxed charm. It's not that it's a bad game--it's that it could be so much more, if only it wasn't trying so hard, and in the most shallow ways.

Everything about Hoops is overly complicated, with no real payoff. The players can be personalized and stylized--you get to pick haircuts, jewelry, tattoos, and clothing. But instead of being a cherry on top of an otherwise great game, this decoration is in some ways more interesting than the actual court time. This issue of mixed-up priorities really takes root in the mechanics of the game. Considering there's no tutorial, the overly designed controller configuration gets in the way of just starting up and playing the game for the fun of it. In another example, unless you assign controllers to teams in the opening menu, the game mysteriously starts playing itself.

The music is great, with songs by mainstream hip-hop artists. But the abundance of tie-in deals seems like overcompensation for poor play. Hoops sometimes feels like a catalog, heavy with ads for clothing, sneakers, and sunglasses. In a spectacular example of the obtrusiveness of this co-branding, gamers can get cheats by buying real-world Sprite (vending machines for the soda are also littered throughout the game maps). Still, there's a fair amount to recommend Hoops--mainly the presence of real-life street ballers. The opening cinematic of inspired tricking makes you want to invest the time to make this game pay off. Anyone who just wants to play a little ball with their friends--a pickup game instead of a tournament--would be better off looking to the unmatched NBA Street. --Jennifer Hauseman

          Pros:

          • Options like taunt and intentional foul evoke true baller bravado
          • Hip-hop soundtrack includes "Da Rockwilder" (Method Man and Redman), "Who We Be" (DMX), "Make Em Say Ugh" (Master P), and "Rollout" (Ludacris)
          Cons:
          • More development time was spent on partnership deals than gameplay

          Great Multiplayer Action, But...
My brother bought this game a little while after it first came out. We played around with it a while, mainly on multiplayer since there's two of us, and it was really fun. Great gameplay, graphics, etc. But when we started playing 1 player, whether it be quick play or tournament, neither of us, nor any of our friends, could beat the CPUs. They almost ALWAYS made three point shots, from half court, sometimes even behind that. But our team couldn't make shots more than 50% of the time even being just a short distance from the hoop! We got really frustrated and decided to get NBA Street, so now we use that for 1 player, and Street Hoops when we want some good multiplayer action. All in all, it's an o.k game if you're gonna play with friends, but if you're looking to play and win by yourself, forget it!

THE WORST GAME I EVER PLAYED!
Now, Im not saying I hate Streetball, but this game makes Streetball look like Sesame-Ball. I bought this game last year for fun, but this game is bull. I wish I bought NBA LIVE 2003! Street hoops doesn't let you create teams and is too easy. I was the Knights and I crushed Baltimore and they had Lil Romeo, all my players were at 50 just to give a challenge and I won 51-0! Its impossible to block but so easy to steal. The movies are pretty good. After a while though, the music in the back gets dumb. I used to be addicted to "Roll-out" but now im not. Seriously, you can bet on games on how many points you can win, but its dumb. Some features I like for example: buying your clothes and bling bling. Haircuts look so fake, doesn't even sway one bit. It's stuck to their heads. I RECOMMEND, SAVE YOUR MONEY

          All-Star Street-Ball
This game is really awesome! The graphics are great, gamestyles are awespme.
The game styles include 3 on 3, World Tournament and many others.
Also you can unlock different parks and players as you go along(Rucker Park and Hot Sauce)
Another good part about this game is that you can buy your team new haircuts, jewlery, clothes, tatoos with the money you win if you bet on your game.
All in All this game rocks!

          NHL 2000
          Made by Electronic Arts
Age Group: 5 years and up
            Amazon base price: $9.90
            List price: $19.99 (that's 50% off!)

Electronic Arts continues its hard-hitting hockey series with NHL 2000--a game that skates back to the Sega Genesis roots of the franchise for some key elements of gameplay. Serious sports fans can take advantage of options that set up all the true NHL rules for each game, but the default settings make it easy for all gamers to hop right in and skate to victory.

The skating is silky smooth and the graphics are extremely fast, including a motion-blurred puck during high-speed shots. There's nothing more satisfying than knocking the wind out of another team's lead scorer with the dedicated big-hit button, and the incredibly responsive controls make finesse shots possible. Icon passing makes sure players get the puck to the correct man, and those who wish to leave nothing to chance can take control of their goalkeepers in midplay. With the help of Multi-Tap adapters, up to eight people can play this king of hockey games. --Jeff Young

            Pros:

            • Options and AI opponent strength scale to all skill levels of gamers
            • Big hits, slap shots, one-timers, and other hockey maneuvers are easy to execute

            Cons:

            • The game is much better when played against human opponents
            Average review score:

This game holds a special place in my heart
I used to love the EA Sports Hockey games from the early ninties on Sega Genesis and was disappointed when hockey games for the newer and better systems like the Playstation weren't anything like those games. Enter NHL 2000. It's like playing those old classic games only this time with better graphics, gameplay, and options! I bought this game when it was new and I'm still playing it non-stop today (a year and a half and it's never gotten old!!!) Sports fans will love the franchise mode because over time your players start to grow on you and you care about how each one plays every single game year after year. This may sound weird but anyone who loves games and loves hockey should know exactly what I'm talking about. Buy this game. I promise that it will result in some of the most fun you've ever had.

            NHL 2000
This is the best hockey game on a video game console i have ever played. You can now do deflectoins, BIGGER HITS, POINT SHOTS work more effectivley now. This game has all the Player faces. Its way better then NHL 99, it has better graphics. Its like 10 times faster, it has a better frame rate. The fights are better and faster. The game options are better. You can wear third jerseys witout typing in a code. you can wear the teams old jersey. this is amawesome ame for PlayStation. Do not buy any other NHL game like FaceOff or Breakaway. This is the best game.

            this game holds the tourch
this game can still hold up against PS2 versions of the game EA sports did a great job with this game

            Thrasher: Skate And Destroy
Made by Jack Of All Games
Age Group: 13 years and up
              Amazon base price: $9.90
              List price: $42.99 (that's 77% off!)

Move over, Tony Hawk. You've got some new competition gunning at you in this game, which features up-and-coming skaters who are both dangerously hip and recklessly rebellious. Endorsed by skating bible Thrasher magazine, this game captures the true spirit, style, and skill of the renegade freestyle street-skating culture. Choose from several skaters, pick an outfit, and then select from one of 12 skateboarding locations, including the Brooklyn Bridge banks or L.A.'s Santa Monica Courthouse. These and other concrete temples are all based on real-life locations.

There are more than 100 tricks to master, which is necessary if you want to unlock secret levels or outrun the donut-eating cops. Since motion-capture technology was used to design the movement of each skater, each special move looks fairly natural when executed. In addition, each environment is completely interactive. For example, you will see leaves fall from a tree if you happen to hit it. Of course, you can also interact with objects to show off your skating skills. We had fun sliding down ramps and jumping over trashcans.

One of the strengths of Thrasher: Skate and Destroy is its phenomenal hip-hop soundtrack, which features icons like Grandmaster Flash, Eric B. & Rakim, EPMD, A Tribe Called Quest, Gang Starr, Sugar Hill Gang, Afrika Bambaataa, Public Enemy, Stetasonic, and Run-D.M.C. --Carrie Bell

              Pros:

              • Endorsed by Thrasher magazine
              • One of the only freestyle skating games on the market
              • Totally interactive environments
              Cons:
              • Difficult to master
              • Graphics could use some sharpening

              Great Game
This game is awesome........You know Tony Hawks Pro Skater may have beat in the graphics part but i think this game is just as good or better. This game is truly addicting, it has all kinds of multiplayer, sick fix being the best where you try to hurt yourself the most by doing some trick and falling off your board. There are 4 other multiplayer games to go along with those. Also the one player game is challenging and fun. This is not just a game that you pick up in two seconds and beat over the weekend. I love this game, if I could I would give it five stars......but it's not perfect......but very close. BUY THIS, even if you don't like skate boarding or sports games, this will change your mind!

              BeST SkateBoarding Game EVER !
I first played the Tony Hawk Pro Skater Demo and I thought it was fake looking and it was hard to do tricks and I got bored of it very quickly you only got 2 minutes to play and then it started over. in this game Demo you had a chance to learn the Moves. I Played the Demo for Thrasher Skate and Destroy and it was easier to do Tricks and the way that the skateboarders moved and did tricks Like a 360 flip looked more Realistic. In Tony Hawk proskater the 360 flip looks like a 180 kickflip, What is That? This game is more real and you could do cooler tricks in this game and Better combos of tricks than you could do in Tony hawk. Today I finally got this game and it is 100 times better than the demo version of Thrasher. If your looking for a Real skateboarding game with a cool oldschool Hip-hip soundtrack: Run DMC,Planit Rock, tribe,EPMD,GangSTARR, and more. 12 different places to skate with tons of secret skate spots : Venice Beach,EMB, LA court house,China Banks, and More. Also in multi-player mode compete on who can do the best wall ride, who can do the worst crash, play horse or Skate and other cool things. This is the Best Skateboarding Game ever and This game is the Greatest game I have ever played!

              the only alternative
I love the tony hawk games. I've got all of them and I look forward to the next one... that being said it is important for me to tell you that I have been playing the same game "thrasher" for the entire duration the tony's have been coming out.
maybe it's the video game crime of the century, because there are 5 tony's soon to be 6, and only one thrasher. can you imagine what this game would have turned into in 5 sequels? just the fact that I still play it after 5 years should tell you something.
I'll also tell you that the game is pretty hard, and yeah the fall animations can get annoying. but, that's just it - after you master the controls and flow, and I mean master it, you won't fall for what seems like forever. and when you do fall, you adjust - like the game becoming part of you.
I don't know, but as a skater, I prefer this one over tony, and that's all skaters got, really?

                This game sucks
I downloaded the demo version on my PC. It doesn't even let you play it. You have to watch the computer play a boring game--with no action. The sounds and features are NOT exciting. I'd rather play Techmo Bowl from Nintendo. I have a mouse and keyboard, so I don't even know how I would play this game. There were no instructions, and all the "features" were "not available in demo mode." So what, I have to buy it for $20 to see if I like it? EA Sports is a large, rich company that can afford to let us play the game before buying--after all, they did with MVP Baseball. Until someone proves me otherwise, and until I shell-out money for a decent USB-joystick, I say THIS GAME SUCKS!!!

Great Game with many cool features but problems lag game
This year's Madden 2004 is probably one of the best football games out there today. Some of the cool features are the Playmaker Control...Of course you will need a good gamepad, I have heard that some of those controllers may not work for this game. Another is the new owner mode, I seems as if Madden 2004 is becoming into a Madden Tycoon game. This feature lets you be the owner of the francise and set prices and own your team. Make sure you win and fan support will still be there. But if you don't want to deal with the business of football, you can turn the owner mode off and the game turns back into the orginal francise mode. Francise mode is deep, this years edition include pratice squads where you can pratice your players on the field and their ratings go up for the next game. This years edition takes a lot of space and most likely a new video card...be ready to upgrade.

The problems that have lagged this game are the gameplay mechanics. Problems include late game heroics where you could have a lead and the CPU cheats to win on the Madden diffuculity. You could have a lead against the LIONS 21 to 0 and the game cheats at the end to make the lion win. Very frustrating. Configuring your controller can take days to record and memorize them all and they should simplify this because no one has time to remember these all.

                Owner mode A

                Francise/ Mini-Camps modes A-
                Gameplay C+

                Overall Madden gets a B+
I still recommend this game because on the PC resources are limited... still a terrific game

                TWO MORE DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!
I truly enjoyed Madden 2004. I am patiently waiting for the 2005, but I have had a ball the last year playing this game. The control you have over players and even the plays make for some fun filled hours. I strongly suggest that anyone who has not tried it to give it a go, the price is right and you will be ready for some football!!

                Madden NFL 2001

Age Group: 6 years and up
                  Amazon base price: $9.98

The Madden series is by far the most popular NFL console-game franchise in North America. It is the game of choice among many active and former NFL players, and has been a mainstay on most gaming platforms for close to a decade. And this year's version for the PlayStation, Madden NFL 2001, is amazing--it's even better than the incredible Nintendo 64 version of the same name.

In terms of playability, EA Sports has added some nice new features. Players are rewarded with collectable in-game Madden Cards by performing certain tasks, which can be used to unlock secret game codes, players, stadiums, and legendary NFL teams. Also, you can trade those cards with friends using the PlayStation memory card. Enhancing the replayability of Madden NFL 2001 is a new two-minute drill feature that allows up to 10 players to compete for the highest score.

The game does have a couple of trouble areas. The CPU play isn't all that synched with the gameplay, resulting in some very strange calls and plays. John Madden's commentary is stocked with only a few phrases, which are used ad nauseam. While not perfect, the sound effects and crowd noises are still preferable to the whiny blips of the N64 version. --Todd Mowatt

                  Pros:

                  • Collectable Madden Cards can be used to unlock secret game codes, players, stadiums, and teams
                  • New two-minute drill feature
                  Cons:
                  • CPU sometimes makes very strange calls and plays
                  • Repetitive Madden phrases
                  Average review score:

                  over rated
It's ok but way too hard too figure out all of the details without the book.

Playstation's best as far as Football goes
Madden 2001 can be described, basically, as a cleaner, fresher version of Madden 2000 for Playstation. There have been no real big changes as far as graphics: the game is still amazing considering it's only 32-bit. But there have been several small upgrades--from the variable equipment, armpads, etc. that the players actually wear, to the all-around slightly better look of the player movements and the fields.
As far as the intangibles, there have been many improvements over 2000. The addition of Madden Cards is a definite plus, as is the 2-minute drill. The Hot and Cold feature is very interesting, and adds a more realistic feel. Do you start a cold Marshall Faulk, or a hot Trung Canidate? A cold Drew Bledsoe, or a hot Michael Bishop?
The Franchise mode has seen improvement as well: the salary cap seems to be more realistic now when signing free agents, and the NFL Draft is now 7 rounds instead of just 4. But maybe the best new feature is the addition of the Preseason mode, which allows you to pick your opponents for 4 or 5 games, to sharpen the skills of your rookies and get a feel for your new acquisitions. Then once the preseason ends, young players who performed well will see added points to their attributes. Really helps to develop rookies, and just to try new plays which you aren't accustomed to using.
All that being said, this is still not the perfect football game. There are statistical errors you will encounter at various times, most notably the tracking of kick-off and punt returns during a season. You see, it only tracks 2 players' stats for kick-off returns, and just 1 for punt returns. Thus, if only 1 of your kick returners got the ball during the first week, and at the end of the game the opposing team attempts an onside kick recovered by one of your linemen, the return stats for that lineman will be tracked for the rest of the season. And your second return man is left statless. Same thing with punt returns. If your returner is performing badly and you choose to bench him, his replacement will see zero stat-tracking. Pretty frustrating if that player returns one 80 yards for a touchdown.
Another minus is the commentary, which tends to induce sleepiness. Summerall has no enthusiasm in his voice, and Madden repeats the same stuff when he does choose to say something (he can go a full game on here and only speak 3 or 4 times). You'd think he'd know he made his point when he says "Randy Moss is one of the best receivers in the league today." But then, two plays later when Moss makes another catch, you hear him repeat the same thing yet again.
Still, this is an all-around solid game, which succeeds in most areas. It is much better than Gameday 2001, so if you're looking for a football game for Playstation, this is the one you want.

                  Solid game
This is a great game, but it is not without its faults. The gameplay and graphics are solid, but the computer playcalling can be annoying. Even on All Madden skill level, the computer flatly refuses to call a running play unless it is attempting to run the clock out at the end of the half or of the game. But that may be a good thing, as computer runners have the perplexing ability to bounce off of multiple tackles on every run.

The franchise mode is what truly makes the game. It is easy to spend hours trading and drafting players and signing free agents to create the ultimate team. Unfortunately, the franchise mode has not been significantly altered in terms of difficulty from that of Madden 2000. It is still too easy to acquire the best player at every position for your team, and, strangely, even when you've done that your team will often suffer through losing seasons if you simulate the games. The salary cap is not realistic--just offer older players lengthy contracts to induce them to sign, and when they retire you don't have to deal with a cap hit. And whenever there is a good draft, it is easy to trade all of your aging players to computer-controlled teams for high draft picks, enabling you to draft virtually any and all of the players you want to. The seven round draft is a great feature, but the drafts often seem repetitive. Once I had the exact same draft in consecutive off-seasons, even down to the player names. And 10 consecutive years in which the highest rated player entering the league is a 75-rated punter leads to a rather thin talent pool. Also annoying is the fact that, after playing well over 100 franchise years, I have yet to see a guard develop to over an 81 rating.

One final complaint is that the great fantasy draft tournament feature from 2000 is absent from the newer title. You can still fantasy draft, but the tournament format is not the same. Or if you fantasy draft in certain modes, you don't get to control one specific team.

Aside from these complaints, however, the game is great. On the field, the graphics are slightly better than 2000, and the gameplay has a more realistic feel as player size and momentum are taken into account in tackling. The franchise mode, despite its flaws, is highly entertaining and addictive. If only it were more realistic, this game would be perfect.

The best NBA game out there.
This game is the best NBA game out there. It has great graphics and detail. The free throws are challenging but not to hard like NBA Live 2003.Put it this way I bought NBA Live 2003 to give it a chance and give it two thumbs down.Today I'm going to Toys R Us to buy NBA Inside Drive 2003.But this version is the best yet.

A entertaining basketball game--could be better
NBA Inside Drive is a fun basketball game to play. It has good gameplay, decent graphics and nice controls. The best part of Inside Drive is the gameplay. It has realistic rebounding, stealing, shot blocking, passing and shooting. The bad part is that there is no create a player mode. I was expecting a lot more from this game because NFL Fever has a great create a player mode. I thought there would be one in Microsoft's bball game. But after I got it I soon discovered there is no create a player. There is also no franchise mode. If there would have been these two things I would have given this game 5 stars. Despite its faults NBA Inside Drive is an addictive game. For basketball fans it can provides many hours of fun. It's worth [the money] if you want a basketball game with good gameplay and don't mind having no create a player or franchise mode.

it's an all around great game
This game a great game to play with your friends. Evert time we play its a blast. The dunks are ausome, you can even break the rim. This game is also real it exactly like playing a real basketball game.

                    Knockout Kings 2001
                    Made by Electronic Arts
Age Group: 13 years and up
                      Amazon base price: $14.98

EA Sports has dressed up its bestselling boxing title for the new millennium and has kindly added enough new features to make this game a knockout on the PlayStation2... no pun intended.

The raft of changes that has been added to this version of Knockout Kings includes a new way to throw punches, aptly called Dynamic Punch Control. This feature allows you to control and put together punch combinations that will outwit the other fighters you face. The limitless combinations add a new level of replayability to the title that didn't exist in previous installments.

You can create dream bouts using some of the best boxers the world has ever seen. The lineup includes Smoking Joe Frazier, Muhammad Ali, Marvelous Marvin Hagler, Roberto Duran, Joe Louis, Rocky Marciano, and Julio Cesar Chavez. Better yet, put them up against some of boxing's current stars such as Oscar De La Hoya, Lennox Lewis, or Michael Grant.

EA Sports has left no stone unturned when it comes to the sweet science of boxing. New fighting styles now allow gamers to create boxers with attacks that mimic those of boxing's legends, such as Ken Norton's crab style or Rocky Marciano's slugger style. --Todd Mowatt

                      Pros:

                      • New haymaker punches
                      • Signature moves of famous boxers
                      Cons:
                      • Learning curve of this boxing simulation may turn off arcade gamers just looking to rabbit punch a couple of palookas
                      Average review score:

                      OK Boxing Game
This game is just average in my opinion. Also, I simply don't understand how "Felix Trinidad" could be missing?!! As I recall he was the best fighter when this game was released. Kind of a disappointment.

Buy this instead of horrible KO Kings 2002
Let me start off by saying that this is a FAR superior game to the newly released KO Kings 2002. The controls are great, you can actually choose to throw a punch to the body (unlike KO 2002)and the graphics are great. You really feel likwe you are boxing. KO Kings 2002 is nothing but a button mashing mess with no skill or control, plus a virtually non-existent career mode. The career mode in this game is one area that could have been improved (but thank goodness it is not half as bad as 2002) there is a very limited create a fighter feature, and only 17 contenders to face as you climb the ladder. There is also long and frequent loads. yet, again, after playing (and returning KO 2002) I am so grateful for what this game does have and really love the actual gameplay.

One of the better games out there
So far i have been pretty disappointed with the ps2 and their lack of quality games. I know there are a lot more good games on the way such as GT3,MSG, etc... but thus far i haven't seen one must buy game. Some people will say madden is the greatest game ever, but they have obviously never played NFL2k1 for DC and rigth now i am a little disappointed i traded in my DC. But knockout kings has been the only game so far that i have taken a real liking too. anyone claiming that the ps version is just as good obviously has no clue about boxing and should be playing ready to rumble. first here's the good: the boxer's graphics are absolutely stunning and even in slo-mo you can see a nasty cut open or a mouthpiece come flying out. the game play is VERY realistic, unlike other versions. on the ps version you could just win by clinching and repeatedly pounding a guy, here you have to use strategy; counterpouching, blocking, ducking and jabbing are all used effectively and are usually necessary to win unless you have a big time tysonesque slugger. if you go into a match with a better opponent and just start mashing buttons, you will get clobbered as you should. the ability to throw good combinations in this game is also a great bonus, and i don't mean hitting random buttons quickly. they are also 3 distict boxing styles and unlike other games each style carries with it different strengths and various forms of punches. KK's features many of the greatest boxers ever including even the newest of champs and rising stars but still no tyson(damn them). also kk's has one of the best soundtracks i have heard in a while..... now the bad. this is a pretty short list; yes loading time is a bit long, especially for a high powered system like this but it is not something that takes attention away from the game at all. although the boxers and the stadiums are beautifully detailed, the crowd is one of those generic "let's take the same 6 cardboard cut-outs and fill the whole arena with them" crowds. the only other thing i can find wrong with this game is that the career mode is a bit short. although the number of star boxers in the game is great, the amount of lesser knowns available to fight on your way to the top is very limited, most boxers aren't fighting david tua or vernon forrest in thier 10th pro fight. i was hoping that at least you could continue to fight the good boxers again but you basically get to fight eveyone in that weight division once (if you win) and will finish roughly 20-0, i feel added lower class boxers and challenger rematches would have greatly helped this department. So overall i have to say that the those few probs are not nearly enough to lessen the great qualities of the game, in my opinion it is definitly worth buying but might be better to rent first(for you R2R,blitz losers who have no clue about real sports). The game is mostly free of minor inconviences and seems well designed. i say forget the other pieces of trash that are out right now (including all the terrible baseball games) and get this to tie you over until the summer frenzy starts...enjoy!!
