Blue's Clues - Variety Pack
Made by Danara International
    Amazon base price: $11.98
    List price: $19.99 (that's 40% off!)
Kids love the popular cartoon dog Blue almost as much as parents love having kids be entertained without making a mess. Both will be happy with this fun assortment of Blue-themed baby and toddler items. The main attraction is a delightfully colorful play blanket with a crinkly corner, bumpy corner, squeaky corner, and Blue head rattle corner. Also included are a rattle with a twisting, clicking handle that’s sure to entertain, an oversized bib with a pocket--perfect for little ones just starting on solids, and a playhouse rattle with a chamber full of colorful tiny beads. Special recognition needs to go also to the hard plastic juice box holder, built to hold the juice while not allowing little ones to accidentally squeeze the box so hard that juice sprays everywhere. --John Moe

    Wow! A Juice Box Holder!
I ended up ordering two of these sets because of the juice box holder alone. (On sale, the set is a fair value.) After weeks of searching for a holder, I finally bought this big set of Blue's stuff. My daughter is too old for the rattle and blanket, but the bib, toy, and juice holder are awesome. Only complaint is that the bib smells a little rubbery, but the smell diminishes after a few washings. The rattles and blankets are in our gift closet. Awesome shower gift all together, too!

        Great for Blue's Clues Fans!
I bought this for my son's 2nd birthday and he absolutely loves it.

For all the people who, like me, want to know the measurements of items before they purchase; the approximate measurements of the blown up chair are:
        23" at the tallest point
18" depth (not of the seat, but of the chair)
        25" wide
        10" wide seat

My son adores this chair. As soon as he saw it he plopped down in it, then promptly noticed the paw print on the arm and had to investigate. He loved the talking paw print.

He does not press the paw print as often now, but still drags his chair around the house to wherever he wants it. He loves to sit down in his Blue's Clue's chair and watch Blue's Clues videos (or whatever else might be on the TV) or "read" a book in his chair. Having his own little chair makes him feel like a "big boy".

My only fear about this chair was that my son would pop it on something - thankfully that has not happened. I no longer worry as much about him popping it; it appears to be made well enough to withstand an active toddler's abuse.

        Highly recommended!

          A good toy
I bought three of these for my 2 year old triplets. They LOVE blues clues! They played with the bubble feature all day on their birthday. Devin even slept with sand clawing tool that night because he was convinced "blue" gave him that present. I took it to the beach with them and another kid there tried to take them away cause he wanted a "bues cues" too. The face did wash off, which was frustrating, but I took my paints and painted a face back on. My kids don't know the difference, and I don't have to keep returning the product.

The face disappeared, but still a great toy!
My 2-year-old daughter loves this toy. She plays with it in the tub, in her sandbox, and on the beach. However, the pail's face and Blue's colored nose rubbed off after taking it to the beach for a day. We contacted the company that made this product, and they are sending us a new one. My little girl won't go anywhere without it, so I would still highly recommend this toy!

            It's a Kid's Sofa!
This has been a great buy for Grandma's house. The kids love it! I have 2 girls(ages 2 and 3) and they sit together on the couch and watch tv or read. It's durable and easy for them to pull out to use as a bed or put it back into the couch position. As for the issue of size, how large do you really want a Blue's Clues couch to be?! It's age appropriate.

Great gift - The kids will love it!
            What a wonderful idea, a child's sofa.
We bought this sofa several months ago for our grandaughter who is now 2yrs. old.
            She loves it!
She sits alone or with her baby dolls and watches TV.
It's just the right size for a toddler.
This is one of the best purchases we have made for her...

AWESOME LITTLE SOFA FOR MY LITTLE GUY!
We received our sofa yesterday, and I have to say, it is the cutest thing I've ever seen. My 20-month old son fell in love with it. He flips it up and down by himself and sits or lays on it with ease. It's just his size. I'm extremely happy with it!

              Great Toy!
My son is two, and I bought this toy for him two months ago. He has not put it down since. He plays with it every day, and it goes every where with us. It travels easy and keeps my son occupied on long trips in the car. It was worth every penny I spent on it.

              Thankfully ours has volume control!
I bought this in the store in April 2004. I'm so thankful that ours does have a volume control otherwise I'd have gone insane with the louder volume option. I bought the last Blues Clues model and they only had Barney and Sesame Street left. I'd just wish I knew there was a Dora model out there, other wise I'd have ordered it online and got that one.
So far it seems to be working great. I bought this for my 18 month old but my 4 and 10 year olds are going nuts wanting to play with it as well. It's not only helping my 18 month old to learn about colors, etc but it's helping to reinforce those ideas with my 4 year old. I prefer toys like this that are good for different age groups.
(...)I think it's the familar characters that attracted my 18 month old to begin with. The familiar songs help her to stay interested and learn. She spent the whole time yelling "a clue, a clue" in the microphone, as she spotted them on the pages. The only downside is that the microphone seems to be on the louder volume. So the music is lower but when they use the microphone, it's really loud.
I just hope that the newer models not only have the volume control but have the other glitches fixed as well (the sticky pages and easily breakable microphone), that I read about here. Just the same, I'm going to save my receipt, just in case! I really hope it doesn't break since this is the first toy I've come across in a while that all my children can use and enjoy using at the same time.

              Better than Nothing
I got this toy for my son for Xmas and am fairly disappointed in it (enough so to call Mattel to complain). The screen is definitely dim, which detracts from the learning value, especially for the learning colors cartridge (Blues Clues). The one I received was also before they had the volume control so very LOUD. Fortunately, no mechanical problems have emerged yet. Despite the dim screen, my son (now 22 months) still likes the toy a lot, but it could be SO much better if screen were backlit (in addition to the orange lights). Clearly Matter-FP was in a hurry to get this out for Xmas and didn't test market it enough. Shame on them! I buy a lot of Fisher Price toys but will be hesitant to buy the higher priced ones in the future (at least through the Internet where I can't test them out first). I see this toy advertised on TV now and the screen appears much brighter than mine so maybe this problem has been fixed (in the same way as they added a volume control???) Hope so.

              Blue's Clues: Blue's Alphabet Book
              Made by Mattel Media

Blue's Alphabet Book is an early childhood game all the way, teaching small--and we stress small--children how to recognize their ABCs and spell basic words. It's done by way of six very simple games that shouldn't put too much strain on little brains.

Most of the games stress simple recognition of letters, such as a xylophone game, where the computer plays a sequence of lettered keys, which kids must duplicate. There's also a leaf game, where a basket is marked with a letter, which kids must use to catch a leaf with that same letter on it. Other games teach a bit more, such as a soup game that helps kids to spell small words, and a memory game that has them trying to remember which bubbles contain which letters.

Blue's Alphabet Book contains some fun music and a small amount of voice acting, but the youngest children will need a parent to help them name the letters and sound out the words they spell. In other words, little ones should be able to play this title alone, but will absorb more with the help of an older onlooker. --Robb Guido

                Pros:

                • Colorful graphics
                • Games will help kids come to recognize their ABCs
                Cons:
                • Few voice samples

                Great learning tool
I bought a gameboy before my daughter turned 2 hoping to keep her busy on a long plane ride. She enjoyed just pushing the buttons at that point and it kept her entertained for short periods of time. Now she is almost 2 1/2 and has mastered each and every Blues Clues Game and begs to play it every night before bedtime. It teaches the alphabet, motor skills, and memory. She can remember "hidden" letters better than my husband and I! She is very proud that she knows how to play the games, and loves to teach us adults how to play!

                Excellent game for preschoolers!
In preparation for an overseas flight, I bought a Game Boy and three games for my 4 1/2 year old (with the intent of sharing with the 2 1/2 year old). Compared to the other games, the Blue Clues game had a number of excellent games, that TRULY involved pre-reading learning skills, and the graphics were colorful and engaging.

My 4 1/2 year old quickly understood the activities and stayed glued to the game, well, for the duration of the trip! (It was just what we needed). The 2 1/2 year old couldn't understand the "rules" but he was happy (for 15 minutes at a time) to just push buttons and watch Steve and his pals.

To the game's authors: Bravo!!! Job well done!!!

A terrific introduction to Gameboy for younger kids
I purchased this game for my son (age 4.5) for Christmas and am very pleased with it. I had been hesitant about introducing him to the Gameboy at this age, particularly since the games I have seen rely so heavily on violence or "levels" the player must reach to go on in the game. Blue's Clues is an exception. My son has no problem navigating the screens and I appreciate that the games start at a beginning level and only increase in difficulty as my son is successful with them. The games are too simple for my 7 year old but a great introduction for the younger set. (I agree with another reviewer that the sound is not terrific--it has a "buzzy quality"--but my son plays the game in the car with the sound off and still enjoys it.)

                  Great for Blue's Clues fans!
I bought this for my son's 2nd birthday and he absolutely loves it.

The toy measures approximately 12" tall; the arms are outstretched, so technically it is around 10.5" wide. I wanted to know this information when I was shopping, and am sure others will too.

The stomach holds the batteries & microphone and is therefore hard; however, the fabric is very soft to the touch so my son still loves to sleep with it at night.

When you squeeze Blue's hand she says many different phrases. Some of them are: "Hi you, there's so much we can do", "I can boogie" "I love you, I love you, I love you *kissing sound*", "I can pretend with you" "You're a good friend" "What a great team we are, don't you think?", "Let's talk again", and countless more.

If you have a child that is in love with Blue's Clues (as mine is), then this is definitely a great toy for them at a fantastic price.

                  Blue's Clues - Game
                  Made by University Games

You may know a preschooler who'd go blue in the face begging for this game starring the popular puppy from Nickelodeon. There's plenty to hold attention spans while moving around the board: children travel through Blue's rooms collecting clues, piecing together child-oriented concepts like making a Popsicle or building a snowman. But that's not all--there are activities, too. Land on the right space and you might find yourself winking, patting your tummy, or flexing a muscle. Blue's Clues Game is a good one for parents and little ones to play together. Clue cards, game board, spinner, playing pieces, and a notebook are included. True Blue fans will also enjoy Blue's Clues Floor Puzzle and Blue's Clues Colorforms Party Time Game. Blue's Clues Game is for two to four players. --Elizabeth Ward

                    TOO MUCH WORK
I know it's a game but come on.. there are so many instructions and pieces. My daughter loves it but this game drives me crazy.. I haven't even seperated all the pieces because there are soo many. Plus the drawing part is a pain. I may be lazy about it but there are games out there that are just as fun with out the hassle. Quite disappointed.

Just like the Show! They love it!
My kids and I play this game all the time. The game plays just like the show. The kids have to travel around the board that is designed to look just like the house. The graphics are great and look just like the cartoon version on TV. My kids GO NUTS traveling to each room, picking up clues. They cannot wait to get to the next room, so they can see what the clue is and write it in their notebook. We have played it so much, we made our own clues out of paper and the kids try to figure out things like "daddy's still sleeping" and "help daddy rake leaves" The kids get a kick out of what little jokes I will create. It's a fun game and a must have for any fan of Blue's.

Fun and grows with your child
I bought this for my son when he was only 2 and we still play it now that he's 4. He loves this game, and it doesn't ever become boring.

While playing, you may land on a square that makes you dance, wink or turn upside-down, among other fun antics that keep you from sitting too long. While going around the board, you collect clues and get to draw them in a notebook (not included with the game). After you collect three clues, you guess what Blue is thinking about. My son LOVES to act out the show in this way.

The organization of the game pieces could be better. There are many small cards to keep track of and you have to organize them in order to play a game. The game itself doesn't offer an easy way to store the cards or set up the game quickly.

The way the game is designed, you could easily personalize it by adding your own fun antics and even your own clues.
This game grows with the kids and is a lot of fun!

Blues Clues and music are a great combination
My 2 year old has been getting very good at identifying her colors, so when I saw this book I thought it would be great for her. She does like this book, not as much as the Sesame Street or the Dora. She does sing along with each frame.
The only problem with this book is that with the lights in the unit they distort the colors a bit when you are looking at the screen, so identifying the colors is not always as easy as it should be. But all in all my daughter is very happy to play with this book.

                      Not What it Appears
The description of this "book" is very misleading. You need
to have the rest of the toy for it to work. My son received
this as a birthday gift and was very disappointed that it
didn't work. You have buy the unit that it goes in and
then it's some sort of electronic game/book. I have yet
to find the thing I need to buy for it to work.
