Radio Controlled Launch Pad Helicopter: Red Deco 27Mhz
Made by Spin Master
    Amazon base price: $49.99
    List price: $69.99 (that's 29% off!)
The lightweight, plastic propellers and a red-and-yellow foam body on this spy copter don't make it very sturdy, but it has an arsenal of "high performance specs" that should balance vulnerability with greater agility. A few of them include altitude and rotor speed indicators, a "flight stabilizing" system, and proportion control, all of which help his lift up to 50 feet. Those features are considerate, but kids won't even care about those doodads once their bird takes flight. Of course, it's not very large (more like a grasshopper than a spy copter) but lots of fun is packed into it. Plus, its quick-charging station doubles as a cool launch pad, complete with an input jack shaped like a fuel nozzle. Included: instructional video. Required, eight "C" batteries for launch pad; six "AA" batteries for remote control. Diane Beall

    helicopter fun
This helicopter is awesome. It is very durable and flies great. it charges in three mins. and flies for two. You can keep control easily when there is no wind. I have so much fun with this toy but you need a ton of space like a wide open field

    my husband loved this!
I bought this rc helicopter last year for my husband and he absolutely loves it. He has taken it out and had so many people (especially grown men) ask him where he got it and how can they get one. It takes bumps and imperfect flying without falling apart, recharges quickly and takes very little skill to fly. I'm buying my brother-in-law one this year for Xmas. Boys and their toys..........

Sabre Jet 3D Nylon Airplane Kite
    Made by Gayla
      Amazon base price: $14.99
Chuck Yeager never had it so good. With this 3-D, swept-wing airplane kite, anyone can try for the sound barrier. The Sabre Jet monoplane kite has a 55-inch span, green wings, and a 38-inch black fuselage. Round openings of 3.5 inches at the nose and tail fill the kite with wind to keep it aloft. Bending struts keep the frame rigid and give the body a pleasing upward curve. The Wind Spinner tail stretches out several feet behind. A winder/handle and flying line are included. But do you have the Right Stuff? --Richard Farr

Does the color matter to you?
I haven't taken the kite out of the package yet, as I may be returning it--I'll take the previous reviewer's stars at face value and just repeat them here, since I can't post a review without them. The item advertised, and selected as a gift by my nephew, is green and black, but the one I received is red, white and blue--great for the times, of course, but not the colors he expects and thought were so cool. If my nephew likes the colors anyway, I'll keep it. But if the colors will be different from what is advertised, that ought to be stated somewhere in the copy--especially if there is no opportunity for the buyer to choose.

      This is a KITE!
We bought this kite for our son for a vacation in Aruba - average daily wind speed 20 mph. The kite performed beautifully in very harsh wind - and came with a grip comfortable enough for our 5 year old to use. It traveled well, too. They sure don't make kites like they did when I was a kid - and thank goodness for that!

        This is a good toy!
I like this helicopter alot! It's neat because it has a motor that runs on air. It flies straight up and then when it runs low on air, it lands very gently & doesn't break like some other airplanes that I've tried. I wish it wasn't made out of sterofoam though.I really have fun with this toy.

Tonka Motorized Rescue Helicopter in Red
        Made by Funrise
        Age Group: 4 - 7 years
          Amazon base price: $29.99
This motorized rescue helicopter from Tonka is sure to be a hit with helicopter-loving toddlers. The motorized winch can raise and lower the provided stretchers (which then fit cleverly into slots on the sides), the rotor turns at the press of a button, and additional buttons trigger the siren or helicopter sound. The button to turn the rotor is in a perfect spot for holding the helicopter while flying and also turns on the adjustable spotlight for night rescues. The cockpit and cabin open to insert a pilot or other characters if desired (not included). The helicopter contains small parts that could pose a choking hazard to children under the age of 3. It requires four AA batteries (included). --Jay Weinland

          Another Tonka Wonder
Tonka never ceases to amaze me with the quality of their toys. I bought this for my son last year (he was 3) and it's consistently been one of his favorites. It doesn't even go in the toy box. It has a special place on his bookshelf next to his Matchbox helicopter. The features are cool. He loves the fact that he can make the blades spin with just the push of a button. He doesn't play with it constantly (anymore) but anyone who has a child in this age range knows that kids go in cycles. Unlike some other toys that have been long forgotten over the ages, this toy still gets regular abuse. And toughs it out, just like most of Tonka's toys. Nothing has ever broken. Even the winch rope is durable. I love Tonka toys.

          Tough enough for younger kids.
I bought one of these 2 years ago when my son turned 2, and it has consistently been one of his favorites. He has never used the winch very much; he just flies it around the house, especially with the lights out so he could use the search light to see. My parents bought him another one last year, not knowing that he already had one. This one differed only it that it is now festooned with American flags (post 9/11 version, apparently). Now these helicopters are my 1 year old son's favorite toys; he likes to push the buttons as well as push it around the house after his brother. The toy is really tough, and I assume the 4-7 age range is out of concern about strangulation on the winch cord more than durability or age suitability. Bearing this in mind, the toy can probably handle kids at any age.

            Its pretty great
I have ordered this online and when I received it,I thought it was excellent,it seems to stand up to a beating somewhat as I have accidently dropped it on the floor a few times and it stayed together, however the smack to the tail with the remote took the tail off. The detail on it is pretty good compared to some I have seen, its pretty cheap as well compared to what you can get these days, this and the franklin mint have the most detailed helicopters that I have seen but its a price difference from 200 to 32 all in all I think its great for AH-64 fans.

            AH-64A model review
            1) I do not know where the customer saw his real Apache at, but he seems to be incorrect on several points. I work on AH-64A and D models here at Hunter Army Airfield, Savannah, GA.
            A) The main rotor blades are in the correct location in the picture and also are the tail rotor blades. You have a set of inboard and a set of outboard tail blades.
            B) The blades are a different color from the airframe,
            they are black.
            C) As for the Main Landing Gear, they appear to be in the correct scale and location.
            D) As for the weathering effect, well he needs to see our birds that have just came back from the Desert. They look like the one in your picture.
            E) The angle of the Gunners/Co-Pilot and Pilot's stations dose look correct.
Well this all that I have to say. We are looking at a toy not a true to scale model and it sure dose look real close to scale and worth the price. Thank you for your time.

            GOOD BUT NOT GREAT
Considering its price and the rarity of finding ANY 1:48 scale diecast military helicopter, this Apache is somewhat of a small miracle. However, it DOES have several flaws that no serious collector will be able to overlook: (1)COLOR-it's too light. It should be a dark olive or drab instead of the medium green that it currently is.The rotors on the bird should also be the same color as the fuselage. (2)WEATHERING/WASH-completely wrong. The color of an actual Apache is simply too dark for such an intense degree of weathering to show. (3) CHIN GUNMOUNT-incorrectly angled. It should angle back and close to the ships hull instead of projecting straight down from the its underside. (4) LANDING STRUTS- too thick as are the wheel mounts-they bring the wheels waaaay to close to the weapons pods on the winglets when you configure the ship with the missle racks on the inboard pylons. (5) FORWARD COCKPIT FRAME-incorrectly angled inferior leading edge. It should angle forward, not backward. In addition, the cockpit opens on the wrong side!! CRAZY.(6)MAIN ROTORS-ARE NOT ON THE SAME PLANE!!! Two above and two below the rotor hub!!! This is the worst of all its faux pas's and is not even seen in far more inferior Apache replicas. (7) FLIMSY MAIN ROTOR ASSEMBLY-ALSO A SERIOUS PROBLEM. I actually snapped the two small and wholly inadequate connecting rods when rotating the blades and had to slightly separate and epoxy them back together. (8)POORLY EXECUTED TAIL ROTOR-lacks detail and the one on my bird doesn't even freely rotate. One might think that I hate this copter-but here is the irony- I LIKE IT-inspite of its flaws and for the two reasons I mentioned in the opening of this review. Taken on its own, its good, but when comparing it against the MODEL POWER and FRANKLIN MINT offerings, it comes up short-unless you again consider price. In summary: great for the price, but a letdown for the detail concious collector. It's somewhere between a well done 'toy' and a so-so collectible.

Very well detailed, and I should know!
I spotted this item while looking for a model of a comanche chopper for my son. Now..... since I work at the factory in Connecticut where they build the Black Hawk, I knew I just had to have one of these. When I received it, I was very impressed with the level of detail and quality for the price. Let me tell you, I see the real thing every day and I'm hard pressed to see any difference between this beauty and the real thing other than the size. They sell blackhawk models at our company store for 4 times what this baby cost me and not nearly as detailied. When I bought this baby to work to display at my desk, 4 coworkers immediatley ordered one for themselves.

              MOST EXCELLENT HELECOPTER!!!
I gave it a 5 star in fun because it does a lot. like opening doors, spinning roters, spinning front wheels, and VERY detailed. I gave it a 4 in educational because it lets you learn more but you sorta have to like the military to really think it's educational. I gave it a 5 in durable because i don't know how many times i dropped it and it's still in awesome shape.(except when i dropped it on my older brothers foot then the tail fin fell off). I STRONGLY suggest this item to Military vehicle lovers. AWESOME TOY!!!!!!!!!!!!

              BLACKHAWK (TOUCH)DOWN!!!
Unlike the Apache, it's hard to guage the accuracy of the Blackhawk as it is a first of its kind offering. So I'll just try my best based on the models' inherent details and workmanship. First off, it looks great! Although it has the same color and weathering as the Apache, it looks more appropriate on the Blackhawk as it is the workhorse helicopter of the military and one would expect it to have a fair degree of weathering. The tail rotor is excellent and rotates freely. The main rotor is also very good-except for the rotor cap which actually rests several millimeters above the plane of the blades?! I'm sure that this is not how the Blackhawk rotor actually looks. Panel lines and rivets are nicely done as are the various antennas and sensors-although they should be made of a flexible material as to minimize the chance of them snapping off. Speaking of snapping off, the support struts on the overhead winglets are also made of rigid plastic and I actually snapped a couple of them by just removing them from the packaging. WARNING: BE SUPER CAREFULL REMOVING THE WINGLETS. YOU CAN EASILY BREAK THE SUPPORT BARS AND RUIN YOU BIRD BEFORE YOU EVEN GET A CHANCE TO DISPLAY IT!!!The pilots and gunners also look good with the latter being equipped with excellently scaled and detailed automatic rifles. The strangest and most inaccurate of all the details is the ships' white-WHITE!?-interior. Overall, this is a highly, highly recommended buy and even the most casual collector will recognize this models' rarity. BUY SEVERAL IF YOU CAN!!!

Lots of fun, but easily broken
My 3 year old son did chores around the house to buy this toy himself. We were very disappointed when one of the rotors broke off within a month. I was with him when it broke. He was not doing anything rough with it. He didn't even drop it. We did not realize there was a guarantee. We've glued it back together at least 10 times. I don't know if that voids the guarantee or not.

Otherwise, it is a great toy. My son carries it all over the place. He says it is his favorite.

I guess the older propellers work better
I've noticed a bunch of complaints regarding the proplellers on Harold the Helicopter. My Harold is over eight years old and it still has his propellers in fine working order. My problem with Harold is the fact that there's not much to do with him. The new hospital track gives him a place to land but he gets boring quickly. Still a good buy though.

                love it!
My son has this toy. He loves it. The plastic rotors keep breaking off,(we are on our 3rd Harold and have to get a 4th now.) I have had a hard time trying to find out who to contact for replacement now that the company has switched hands.

                E-Chargers Airplanes
                Made by Spin Master
                Age Group: 10 - 12 years

There will come a day when kids just won't believe that we had to wind up our toy airplane propellers with rubber bands. Hastening the arrival of that fateful milestone are the E-Chargers Flying Machines. This flying machine draws its power from four AA batteries in a handheld charger. Just pop the 8-inch-long foam plane on the end of the charger, listen to its motor rev and watch its propeller spin, then 10 seconds later you're ready to fly. You can get some really good flights out of this bird--the only downside is waiting the recommended two minutes between flights for the charger to cool down. Styles and colors may vary. --Paul Hughes

Doesn't even match a Happy Meal Toy
I bought this for my nephew, and never got to even fly it! I loaded the batteries, connected the charger, and that was it---the charger would not charge nor come off---D* near broke it in half trying! Can't wait to return that trash.

                  Sweet little flyer
Bought this for my son who has ADHD. He loves the little plane. It works great! I know it won't last long since it is is foam rubber and my son is not gentle but for the money, it was something to try. Now I know he enjoys flying planes and can handle it. I recommend this toy for other parents to try on their children, as a first time plane.

                  cool flight patterns
This little plane does some real cool tricks all on its own. by throwing it down toward the ground, it then takes straight up and does a hammerhead stall before it glides back to earth. The one problem I have run into is the durability. I have gone through two palnes and haven't really played with it much. The propeller broke on the first one and on the second, the gears seemed to have stripped.

                  Playmobil - Airplane #3352
                  Made by Playmobil USA Inc
                  Age Group: 4 - 7 years
                    Amazon base price: $39.99
It’s the way the wheels roll that give it away: smooth, straight, and quiet, the wheels show how well designed and made this European-style airplane is from the ground up. Thoroughly thought out, it’s full of features that will fire any child’s imagination and suggest endless play possibilities, like a folding staircase, a roof that opens and closes, snacks and drinks for the passengers, and a luggage compartment in the back. The seven included figures are no less impressive in their craftsmanship--even the flagman comes with little removable headphones. The one caveat is that assembly is required. The pieces snap together easily, however, and though they may occasionally come off during particularly rough play, they snap back just as easily.--David Stoesz

                    A love/hate relationship
First of all, this is the most gorgeous not-so-little airplane we've ever purchased. Our 2+ year old son is an airplane fanatic and this one made him gasp out loud. The people and accessories all have a place to be stashed away, everything opens and closes nicely and looks great... but... the blasted thing won't stay together! I'm not talking about it breaking apart after it's been thrown, I mean the thing falls apart in your hands. The first day, the wings came off half a dozen times. My husband finally glued them on with model glue, let it sit overnight (that makes for a cranky 2 year old!) and the next day, they still just popped right off! Then the wheels started falling off. Then the tail. We kept gluing them all back on and they kept coming right back off. Finally, our son gave up on the toy. It's now in the toy bin and all four pieces of it are equally ignored. What a shame. This SHOULD be a wonderful airplane but, I'm sorry to say, it's not.

send this one on its way
I found this toy in too many pieces that do not stay together when my son was playing with it. He became too frustrated with trying to put the pieces back together!!! The wings and wheels should be a part of the plane but are removable so pieces are more able to get lost or misplaced. Not worth the $$pricy money.

                    Fantastic Toy!
All three of our kids (ages 5, 3, 1) really like this toy. They have fun flying it around as well as rolling it around their Playmobil airport.

The design of the plane is great. The removable top allows for easy access to the fuselage where as many as seven little Playmobil figures can sit. As other reviewers have pointed out, the wheels and wings are designed to pop off so that they don't break when subjected to extreme "toddler forces". Don't worry about them falling off all the time, though. You can pick up the plane by the rear stabilizer wing (probably the least secure part of the plane) without it falling apart. That's pretty sturdy while still having the break-away functionality required to make this toy last a long time.

One of the things I really like about this plane (and other Playmobil toys, like the Pirate Ship) are the stickers. Rather than being thin stickers that curl when you peel them and subsequently become unwieldy, the stickers are stiff so they are easy to place accurately.

The realistic look of the plane as well as its large size (approx. 20" wingspan) are also cool aspects of this toy.

                    Capitol Flyer R/C RTF Airplane

This 21-inch-long airplane also comes with a powerful motor capable of fast speeds. These features make the Capitol Flyer a lot of fun to use, but it may be a little difficult for beginners to control in the air. The plane comes with a three-channel 72 MHz transmitter, a rechargeable NiMH battery pack, and a 12-volt peak detection charger. You will also need eight AA batteries to power the plane's transmitter. An instruction manual and spare parts are included. --Chris Burns

This plane is great, dont listen to the other reviews, (...), its a fun plane! Takes off right off the ground, built very well, very durable and fast. Everything works! I suggest that you first check all the things, like the elevator and the rudder and all the moving parts, i didnt and it crashed! But after i checked them i knew what the problem was, and I fixed it, any way its very fun and educational!!!!

                      Amazing Fantastic Wonderful Amazing...
I read all of the reviews, Good and Bad, and decided to to give it a try anyway. I made sure to read the manual thoroughly, cycled the batteries three times, tested the rudder and elevator, and practiced taxing the aircraft down a stretch of road before attempting my first flight to get comfortable with the power of aircraft. I then went to the park powered up to full throttle took three quick steps and launched the aircraft as directed by the manual and.....IT FLEW...AND CLIMBED...AND CLIMBED...AND turned RIGHT and LEFT as I commanded...and performed a figure 8...and descended as I lowered the throttle and landed almost perfectly on my first flight EVER. I picked it and repeated again 3-4 times crashing but recovering each time. After the 4ht time the engine seemed a little weak but it continued to fly nonetheless. Upon closer inspection I discovered that the gear shaft was SLIGHTLy bent. No problem they provide a back up. I have never donw this before and felt like a pro on my first flight. I will be back in the park and just had to tell someone right after finishing this review because I am now hooked . IMHO You can't go wrong with this aircraft.
