Play N Ride Train
Made by Chicco
    Amazon base price: $39.99
All aboard! This ride-on or push toy (for engineers up to 3 feet tall) is a colorful train with some unique features. On one side of the pretend smokestack funnel is a lever that makes a barber pole spin, on the other a lever that makes a silly squeaky noise. The top of the funnel is a working steering wheel that has a spinning top with colorful balls that bounce and clatter once you push the button. With a tall, removable backrest that doubles as a push bar for beginning walkers--and a seat that opens up to a compartment to hide important treasures--this is a great addition to any rail yard or playroom. --S. Great Ride On!
This was my son's Santa gift for Christmas. He was an early walker and 10mo old when he got it. He loved it from day one and pushed it all over. Since then he has learned how to ride it and one of his favorite things is to put things in the seat and push it around. He also love to sit on it and chase the dogs around. At 18mo old this is still one of his favorite toys and is standing up well to my son's constant use and abuse (he does stand on it and sit on it while its on its side). I love to find toys that don't flash and make noise. I think toys like this one encourage more imaginative play. The levers and stuff do reward exploration with spinning, squeaking and simple reactions. This is very sturdy and my son doesn't have any problems with it tipping over. This is definately one of our favorites.

    What a fantastic toy!!
We got this for my son's first birthday, and it has been the most popular toy ever since...and even with our almost 4 year old. They fight over it...they love the flip up seat to store all of their little cars and other toys. And the gadgets are great! This is a super sturdy toy..both of my boys have stood on it at one time or another..it seems it can hold up to any abuse! The only thing I would change is to perhaps make the back handle fit more snuggly, but this would only be for parents..when I try to pick it up and move it, the handle comes out everytime...but that's no big deal. We love this toy and couldn't be more pleased!

    Neat little train
My sister passed this down to me when her kids outgrew it, and it's a pretty cool ride on. My 1 year old loves to push it around, although when we first tried it, he kept tipping it over (sideways, backwards...). We solved this problem by putting my ankle weights in the handy storage space under the seat. What's nice is that the added weight stabilizes it a bit (I think it's close to 10 pounds of added weight), but doesn't make it harder to push around. I'm sure he'll love it even more when he gets the hang of sitting on it and pushing it with his feet. It went through my nephew's care looking brand new, so it has to be sturdy!

    Thomas & Friends Water Tower
    Made by Learning Curve
    Age Group: 24 months - 6 years
      Amazon base price: $24.99
This miniature water tower is a simple, clever toy that is fun for any age. Attached to a small platform and piece of track, it fits neatly into the Thomas the Train layout that your child has already designed. A lever action pump "empties" and "fills" the see-through tower, so your child will have a real sense of filling up the engine.

Based on the award-winning Shining Time Station television series, the Thomas the Tank Engine train system fulfills all of a child's train-set dreams. Each 2-inch-high, wooden vehicle has black plastic wheels and a different name, character, and face, and there are magnetic bumpers at the ends for easy link-up. Your child will delight in making the pieces interact during imaginary play and will learn social skills playing train with friends. Designed to keep pace with your child's development, this toy encourages the use of new motor and cognitive skills. Other track pieces and accessories are available. --Sandy Hirsch

Neat addition to your train set
We have a LOT of water towers in our city and my son is just fascinated with them. So, I bought this water tower after he refused to stop playing with it at The Anderson's General store. What a great purchase this is! I personally love watching the pretend water going up and down with the movement of the spout. "Water tower" as my little one calls it, goes everywhere with us. To church, to grandma's, grocery store, you name it, it's his favorite train piece. Why, I have no idea but I do know that he, along with every other child I've seen with it, absolutely adores this tower.

      A nice addtion
We recently started adding new pieces to our son's Thomas set, and this is a nice one. The "water" level goes up/down in harmony with the movable spout. Also, this is one of the less expensive pieces (the others, like the fire station, cost as much as the entire Figure 8 starter set!). Add on more fun with this water tower.

        remote sucks on this thing
within a week of buying this, the transmitter stopped working, and i was unable to fix it. cheap construction makes it not very durable at all. i'd recommend spending a bit more and buying a quality setup, as this one will only disappoint.

        An awesome boat!!!
i got this boat with my birthday money and i love it. i would only recommend it if you have other full function remotes of the same frequency because my renote broke. but this boat rocks! itll take on waves 3x its size and it is fast!!! so if you have another rc(s) this is a awesome boat :7

          Omega Boost
          Made by Sony Computer Entertainment
Age Group: 5 years and up
            Amazon base price: $19.99
            Used price: $2.00
Buy one from zShops for: $9.95
From the creators of the popular racing series Gran Turismo comes the space-action sci-fi shooter Omega Boost. This futuristic game pits you against a sinister computer virus named Alphacore. To conquer Alphacore, you must pilot an armed free-floating robot named Omega Boost through 19 diverse zones and, ultimately, travel back in time to stop Alphacore from changing history. Basically, the gameplay of Omega Boost is incredibly straightforward. Simply blow up each enemy that stands in your way. Enemies come in all shapes, sizes, and strengths. We were impressed with the amount of detail put into each enemy--in fact, we often paused the game so that we could better examine each enemy being blown to smithereens. Each zone has a collection of small enemies, a sub- boss, and a boss to conquer.

As you progress in the game, you can customize and upgrade your equipment. In champion mode, you will have to finish a level with a good enough destroy rate before you will be allowed to advance. This game also includes a replay mode, which will allow you to leisurely view highlights of your most intense battles.

While this game may be pretty to look at, the controls can be difficult to master. You'll definitely need to check out the training zones in order to properly learn how to navigate your hunk of junk metal. We became dizzy from the rotating 3-D and 360-degree environments, which can make your control seem more complicated during a busy barrage of enemy fire from all directions. --Carrie Bell

            Pros:

            • Interesting plot
            • Detailed spaceships and explosions
            • Full 3-D, 360-degree rotating action

            Cons:

            • Shooting action can get repetitious
            • May cause dizziness
            Average review score:

Great game, but not much replay value.
Omega Boost is an okay game. The graphics are probably the best on PlayStation, rivaling Final Fantasy VII. The music is cool at the beginning, but later okay. The gameplay is not too bad, but could be worse. After you beat it , there is not much left after.

Highly playable shooter balancing looks and mechanics.
One of those rare cases where a game developer doesn't compromise gameplay in favour of graphics. Omega Boost gets the best of both worlds. Though the 360-degree environment can make you dizzy, the addition of the "face forward" button drastically improves ease of controls. And the backgrounds and characters look sharp but remain responsive, which makes for a great fast-paced shooter.

If anything, I might have wished there would be a little more diversity in terms of weapons, levels, missions and some kind of a story. Imagine the customizeability of Armored Core coupled with the furious action and beautiful graphics of this game! However, that didn't seem to be the intention of the designers. As an old-fashioned "blow-everything-up" shooter, Omega Boost ranks among the best there is to offer.

blow stuff up in outer space
Well, most of us know about the great Playstationg titles. final fantasy, tekken, Metal Gear Solid. But there are titles out there that are every bit as good, yet never get the attention that they deserve. Omega Boost is one of those games.

This game has it all. The story is pretty decent. I won't spoil it here. The graphics are gorgeous. Absoloutly incredable, just be sure that when you play this game for the first time, you play it with no one else around, lest someone accidently step on your jaw when it falls to the floor. The music is very cool too. The intro music rocks big time and the in game stuff is funky. The game itself is just a brainless shoot em up. Like R-type on steroids. and a hundread times more fun. All this stuff combines to give you a great fun game that anyone can play and enjoy.

Give it shot. You'll be glad you did

4 Construction Puzzles In A Box

              Fun and Durable
These are just great. Four 12-piece puzzles made out of very durable materials (see Pros below). The sturdy wooden box has four compartments under a sliding lid. Each of the four puzzles are theme related. These four are Forklift, Cement Truck, Dump Truck, and Digger.

              Pros:
              Easy but not too-easy puzzles.
              Pieces fit well together.
              Nice pictures.
              Sturdy container.
Each puzzle has a different shape printed on the back to make sorting the puzzles easier.
Super durable. I did not realize just how durable they were until I found a piece in my dishwasher. Even after being washed the picture was fine and the wood in perfect condition.

              Cons:
It may take a few moments to figure out how to fit an entire puzzle's pieces in a single compartment.
              Lid does not lock closed.

My kids love these and you will too.

              Pieces break easily.
My 3 year old received this toy for Christmas. She enjoys putting the puzzles together very much. However, she has trouble getting them apart - the wooden pieces do not come apart very easily. We already have 4 or 5 pieces that have broken - a layer of the wood has come off, either off the picture part or the back of the piece. I was disappointed when a piece broke after we only had the puzzles a few days! The wood is very thin. The shapes on the back are great for sorting the pieces, but the compartments that hold the pieces aren't big enough. If the pieces don't go in "just so" - the lid won't close. The puzzles are nice, but I would not purchase this toy again due to the quality.

              Hours of fun
Our son (2-3/4) plays with this over and over. And, putting the pieces back into the box is as much a part of the game as putting the pieces together, so clean up is not an issue. Who would have thought that with 6 months of playing with 4 puzzles on an almost daily basis you would have no missing pieces! Sturdy and colorful and well built (as have been other "Melissa & Doug" products we've found...)

Santa Fe Train Set: Blue and Silver
              Made by Peg Perego
              Age Group: 24 months - 5 years
                Amazon base price: $159.99
A train you can ride on? That moves by itself? It's hard to imagine any child not being excited by this prospect. The Santa Fe Train offers an amusement park experience in your own house. Assembly is a snap, literally. The track pieces click together with no problem, and it's so obvious how to assemble the train, you almost don't need the manual. If you feel prepared to take it on, this train set can make for a spectacular birthday or holiday present. In the interests of instant gratification, however, be sure to charge up the battery the night before. Some other considerations for parents: This toy takes up a lot of space: at a bare minimum, 12 square feet. It may have limited replay value, since you can go around and around a track only so many times, even if you are 4 years old. And it requires a bit of maintenance in that you must keep the battery charged up. --David Stoesz

                Easily off balance
I read all the wonderful reviews and decided to get this train for my 2 year old for his birthday. Product is well crated, assembly simple. I am not sure whether the charger is operating as instructions suggest (green light is always on rather than signalling when battery is charged). Maybe that battery has never gone low when I charge.

My primary problem with the train though is that my child has fallen off of it 3 times. Now to ride it I have to stand in the middle of the track and spin around and around with him to spot him (i.e catch him or prevent him from falling). If he leans SLIGHTLY to the outside, (like turning to see his mom) the train de-rails or falls off the track side ways on to him.

I don't know how all the others had such positive experiences. My hope is my son will gain skill in keping the train on the track and will find it interesting, but any kid that comes to visit, we will have to 'spot'. I guess the educational value of this train for my son is learning to balance on a badly designed moving toy that has a narrow base and has a constantly shifting center of gravity (due to turning on track).

Bottom line - my kid prefers the $6 mega-blocks truck he got to this (...)train.

                Great for little boys!!
Received this for xmas 2003, and my just 2 year old and 4 year old sons love this! They spend hours riding around. I've only used it so far on the track, so not sure about use without it. I'm buying a second battery because they ride it for hours and have a fit when I have to recharge it. They received tons of gifts from Santa, and this is by far the most used and loved. I would recommed this to anyone with small children. My 2 year old walked around holding the button down until he felt comfortable riding on it. LOVE THIS TRAIN, and only wish I could ride on it!!!

                EVERY LITTLE BOYS' DREAM
THIS TRAIN I NEVER THOUGHT COULD BE SO USEFUL. NOT ONLY FOR MY SON, BUT FOR ME IT WAS A RELIEF. HE WOULD SPEND A LOT OF TIME RIDING IT WHILE I WAS BUSY DOING STUFF AROUND THE HOUSE. THE BATTERY IS VERY DURABLE. THE ONLY PROBLEM IS THE SPACE ISSUE BECAUSE I LIVE IN AN APARTMENT AND THE FIRST THING YOU SEE WHEN YOU OPEN THE DOOR IS THE TRAIN BECAUSE IT'S BETWEEN THE LIVING ROOM AND DINING AREA. OTHER THAN THAT IT'S A LOT OF FUN.

This Charger Is A Great Buy. Only $... And You Can Charge It Up To 1,000 Times. To Get All Those Charges, Though, You Shouldn't Charge It More Than 4 Hours And You Shouldn't Put In The Charger When It's Still Warm Or Not Used All The Way. It Is Always Best To Buy Atleast 2 Of These Batteries Because They Last 15-20 Min. Each Charge, So With 2 You Get 40 Min. Run Time.

Two batteries makes it all the better!
When you have two batteries it's so much fun because when you're finish having a blast for a half and hour you can do it a whole other half and hour! So make sure to have two! One more thing that's cool even though it takes a long time to charge if you have two you can kind of cut the time in half! So I'd recommend buying two cause two makes it all the more fun!

                    Cute, but needs redesigning
We bought this for our almost-3 year old. She does enjoy playing with it, but it frequently frustrates her. It is almost impossible to get either of the figures included to sit in the front seat of the truck. Even worse, when they do inevitably slide off, they get "trapped" in the hollow front portion under the hood. My daughter gets upset when she can't get them out of the truck, and also when the doors easily pop off. She had been asking for this toy for the past year, and although she does have fun with the figures and accessories, my husband and I feel that the truck could be designed a little better for play.

                    SO CUTE!
My daughter received this for her 5th birthday to complete her set. She doesn't really care for the loving family, but she LOVES Sweet Streets! Perfect for little hands! Colors are so bright! Perfect for any little girl!

So many pieces, so little changes
My son begged for this toy for months and I finally broke down and bought it, I wish I'd stood firm! It has so many little pieces that are impossible to keep track of. The track only goes together one way and in my opinion it isn't that sturdy. Once you get it set up and watch it go, the entertainment wears out quickly. If you are like me and extremely anti-multiple piece toys, avoid this one! (...) My son got a total of about two hours total in entertainment and I got a migraine trying to keep track of all the little logs and miscellaneous pieces!

Mother of a 5 1/2 year old Thomas Fanatic
My son received this train set as a Christmas present and the entire family was captivated by it. It is made very well and we have had no problems with it. It would be nice if you could rearrange the track and have it do other things, but its still ok. With my son being older he can put it together and take it apart all by himself (a big plus). I think this is just great. My son has been heavily into Thomas since he was about 3 and he hasnt let up since and I can honestly say that we have not had any problems with any of his trains (wooden, metal, battery powered, etc.).
